The instructor was precise and encouraging, careful to show us good form from the very start. My fellow rowers were enthusiastic, but also a little out of shape middle aged adults. We all had a great time, and often went into Redmond for drinks and munchies after classes. Everyone finished the twice a week class, which is really saying something in a busy summer. Note that you are expected to come a little early and leave later after putting the boats away. Traffic along Lake Sammamish Blvd can be pretty busy heading south in the evenings. The facilities are adequate with a lovely spot along the river that feeds into Lake Sammamish on the north end. They are fund-raising for a beautiful new facility. Until then, the parking lot is a little dark and the walk to the boathouse is a little scary to make alone. I just waited until another class member showed up and walked with them. Make sure you ALWAYS pay for parking, or buy a pass from the city of Redmond. I'm looking forward to taking "Learn to Row II" so I can join the Assoc and take out a skull by myself. Also looking forward to enrolling my kid - she has the perfect body type, and it would be nice to have some sort of hope of a sports scholarship for college. She's not very sporty otherwise.

I got to choose from several virtual experiences for a work event: cooking classes, wreath making,…read morecandle making, and winter cocktails. I opted for the cocktail class and was so impressed! First, the quality of the ingredients they shipped to me was amazing, from a spiced honey ginger syrup and special bitters blend to candied ginger and dehydrated orange garnishes. We made three bourbon drinks (Woodford Reserve, also included), led by a mixologist from the Seattle area. I especially liked the Holiday in Louisville, which was a twist on a Moscow mule, and the spiced old fashioned. The webcast was well produced, with a couple of folks from our company co-hosting with the mixologist. If you're planning a corporate event and have remote team members, I highly recommend these virtual experiences!

What a fun day trip to Leavenworth! This trip leaves from south lake union at 10am, which I thought…read morewas a much better time & location than most other tours (8am & not centrally located). Overall Leavenworth was well worth the trip. Expectations were exceeded! We enjoyed a beautiful snowy drive with several Christmas movies & Trivia on both ways. The bus was surprisingly filled with people who seemed to be 25+ (a perk for us late 20's) but it would still be enjoyable for kids/teens. We left the SLU around 10am and arrived by 1pm, had time to explore shops and eat two meals, then got on the bus by 6pm and arrive by 8:15pm! It even snowed during our time there which made it extra memorable. Food and drink is super reasonably priced there, compared to Seattle at least. The host was entertaining and friendly. Only knocked off one star for the in-bus bathroom - it unfortunately wasn't the cleanest as was out of toilet paper and hand sanitizer - yikes! The host did walk around with plenty of snacks, water, and hand sanitizer later. Aside from that, everything was seamless! Thanks, Sound Excursions!

Plan accordingly. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ Outdoor adventures keeps the guided groups small (maximum 12 people). I appreciate the small groups since this was my first time kayaking. Three types of kayaks are available: single, double or triple occupancy. Discover is an accepted form of payment. A Discover Pass is required to park at Spencer Spit. If you do not have a pass, a $10 day pass can be purchased with cash or check. There were several rangers checking passes on our visit so be sure to have a pass visibly displayed to avoid being ticketed. WHAT TO BRING - Signed Release of Liability - Bathing suit or non-cotton under layers preferred - A synthetic shirt (capilene, polypro, Under Armor, etc) - Shorts or pants made of a synthetic material (may get wet/damp) - Lightweight fleece jacket or windbreaker/rain jacket to provide warmth - Water shoes or sandals that strap on (or shoes that can get wet) - Sun hat and/or sunglasses - Sunscreen and chapstick - Water bottle - Optional; Camera, Plastic bag for wet items and change of clothing - If you have a gift certificate or prepaid voucher (such as Groupon) please bring a printed copy with you! Dorito Dan was our guide for the day. Dan was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The first hour is dedicated to introductions, procedures and safety. Be sure to use the restroom before departing. Once on the water, there is no turning back. Kayaking is great for teamwork and communication. Both are required to avoid frustration. I recommend wearing weight-lifting/bicycle gloves in order to prevent blisters. Each person in our group started getting blisters towards the end of the tour. During our 3 mile kayaking trip, we spotted starfish, seals and majestic bald eagles. Thank you Outdoor Adventures for providing a magnificent day of play while surrounded by gorgeous Mother Nature. We all plan to return in the near future for another go-around.
