Beware of Best Towing and their predatory business practices. Our daughter was in an accident on Sunday and the Tittabawassee Twp Police had Best tow it to their lot. There was no collision shop open, so there were very few options. We called Best Towing on Monday morning asking if it's okay for our daughter to come get some things from the truck. They told us it was no problem and so we did. I then called back the next day asking if it's okay to stop and take the battery from the vehicle. The gentleman on the phone again said it would be fine, so I stopped later that day and had no problems. I got the battery out. Later that day we find out the bill we received on Monday for $495 had jumped to $681 in a single day. After calling, we found out Best had charged us $150 for accessing the vehicle twice ($75 each visit) while on their lot. I understood this was going to be an expensive venture, but I had no idea Best was taking full advantage of the situation and billing me for things I'd not been made aware of. The person who answers their phone (who never gives his name btw) waived one of the $75 fees as if he was doing us some sort of favor and blamed the rest on "company policy." I asked for a call back about this, but haven't received one yet. It's absolutely unacceptable not to warn customers that you're charging them for something until after the fact. There was plenty of opportunity to make us aware of this $75 charge ahead of time. We simply would not have gone in their gate and waited for it to be towed to the collision shop. The Michigan Attorney General says towing companies aren't allowed to charge for the first visit to get your things from the vehicle, and can then charge $25 per visit afterwards. Either way, they should forewarn you about the charge. I have already informed Tittabawassee Twp Police Dept about Best Towing's predatory behavior towards their citizens. I will also be calling the surrounding Townships to make them aware. I intend on filing a complaint with the BBB, Michigan AG and will be taking Best Towing to small claims court if necessary. Please avoid doing business with this predatory towing company if at all possible, as they are preying on the citizens in this community. For the first tow, we waited over three hours. They never contacted us to let us know what was going on. Second row, they called twenty minutes after they were suppose to be there to let us know that they were heading our way. Completely unprofessional. Before noon on Friday, I schedule "online" a pick-up for the following Monday at 10a. Received an email confirmation and followed that up with a called (Friday) to confirm the Monday appointment. On Monday at 10:30a, I called to re-confirm the appointment and was told there was no record of it. When I asked about the email confirmation and confirmation number sent to me... they appeared oblivious of both. I rescheduled, then reconsidered and cancelled due to a detour in my area which would double or triple the tow distance/cost. Best Towing would not be the company to make the best out of my tow job. Worst towing company in the world. I needed my vehicle towed from one repair shop to another repair shop.Called at 2:30 and the woman told me it would be an hour and a half wait. Turned into a 3 and a half hour wait and I had to call them 4 times. The repair shop my truck was at was almost closed. Run away from this towing service. I needed a winch to pull a truck just a few feet, no hookup required. I called Best towing and ask for a quote. I was quoted 175.00.. I thought this was a little steep because we were only a few blocks from their business and only needed a winch pull sitting on flat asphalt. When winch was completed we were charged 225.00. Just got back from getting my daughter's car over to the dealership, and Aaron from Best Towing was the person we dealt with tonight. He arrived to where she was broken down just minutes after I did, which was well within the window that I was given by my roadside assistance coordinator. Without getting into a lot of lengthy details, we ended up doing a jump instead of a tow and driving it to the dealership. Aaron followed me all the way to make sure it made it there, and then proceeded to complete his paperwork after the car was safely parked and we were all off the road and no longer stranded. He was helpful and friendly, which isn't what you can always expect from someone who's coming out so late to do this type of work on such a hot and uncomfortable night. I would definitely use them again and can recommend them without hesitation. As I said, the response time was fantastic, the dispatcher was pleasant and helpful and I can't even say enough good things about Aaron to adequately convey how great he was.
