The man at the front desk was very unwelcoming, I'm not talking about the young man with dreads, he was very helpful and welcoming. But the man of Indian/South Asian descent was very rude and unwelcoming, he says they had no availability at first, then goes to say that he does have a room but it's "too expensive". How rude? Who are you to decide what a guest can afford? Not to mention his horrible hygiene! He smelled horribly, I hope management can speak with him on that! Very Disappointing Experience My grandparents, who are about 80 years old, recently stayed at the Best Western Gregory Hotel at 8315 4th Ave in Brooklyn, and the experience was extremely disappointing. First, the hotel does not have convenient accessibility for elderly guests, which made things very difficult for them. At one point, the key card scanner to their room stopped working, and all of their belongings were locked inside. They were temporarily placed in another room while waiting for a locksmith, which was already stressful. The staff told us they would credit a day and a half for the inconvenience and keep them in a better room, but neither promise was honored. Instead, they were moved back to the same problematic room with the same key scanner issue. The room itself was also in poor condition. It smelled like mold, and the closet doors were old and broken the track didn't work, so the doors couldn't close properly. To make matters worse, my grandmother wasn't able to access her medication or get ready for her medical appointment the next day, which is the whole reason she travels to Brooklyn for her doctor visits. This created unnecessary stress during an already important medical trip. Because of how poorly the situation was handled, we had to scramble to find another hotel near 86th Street and 7th Avenue at the last minute. This hotel used to be a place our family stayed at regularly, but after this experience, we will not be returning. The management needs to seriously improve how they handle guest issues and maintain their rooms. read more

Worst hotel i've ever been to. Mystery stains on the floor everywhere, the shower had orange spots on the floor of it upon checking into our room. The safe where you're suppose to keep your valuables was broken into it seemed like or just dismantled. Got very strange whistling outside our door with the door knob being rattled at 2am. read more

We started our stay by having to find a front desk clerk. When we arrived there was a sign saying "be back in ten minutes". Having no idea when that ten minutes began, we waited. After ten minutes came and went we went on the hunt for someone, anyone! By this time more people had arrived so we were all knocking on doors and yelling down the halls. Finally someone arrived. He got us checked in gave is some options for food near by. Our room was good... clean with a comfortable bed. Towels are scratchy but looked and smelled clean. It's definitely an old building with plenty of rusty areas but it appears to be well maintained. And again, most importantly, clean! The water temperatures are finicky so be careful! You'll quickly scald yourself. There is next to no water pressure in the shower. Plenty of full sized toiletries included were very nice additions! Hand soap & lotion as well as shampoo, conditioner & bodywash. I would stay here again but it may not be for everyone. read more

Stay away. I was robbed by hotel staff for over $500 while I went to breakfast and called the police. The manager , Rameez came in and deleted footage in the back. They would not cooperate and - they had cameras inside the rooms. Told us to get a lawyer n kicked us out. Police did nothing- car outside everyday day. I think they are running an underground theft- video ring along with the 68th Precincts. I cannot believe the staff or police- I have been a patron for over 20 years. Planning to sue for mental Distress and lost time and money. read more

The rooms are actually not bad at all. Nice bathrooms and nice beds. The problem is not the hotel. The problem is that it's on top of the subway line which makes it almost impossible to sleep throughout the night. And for that reason, I give it a very low rating. read more

We visited in March, 2025. Upon check-in, we found out that the elevator was broken. Our room was on the 3rd floor. Hotel staff and management were useless - no help with our bags both upon check-in and check-out. Complaints to both the hotel and corporate fell on deaf ears. Will never stay there again. read more

I was admittedly nervous about our stay at this hotel given the reviews, but I found this hotel to be more than adequate for our needs given the price. The customer service was great, the complimentary breakfast above average and the bed was comfortable (and I checked thoroughly for any evidence of bedbugs particularly since it was an issue years ago at this location, but the mattress was clean and in good condition). A few tips that we will use next time we stay here. Bring a sound machine. The sound insulation is not great, and creaking doors and crying babies can make for a tough night if you are not prepared. (If the manager happens to read this, hit up your door hinges with some WD-40) They offer valet parking, but the spots are limited. We didn't know until it was too late that you could make a reservation for this. Ended up using street parking overnight. This is not a four or five star hotel like a Ritz. But this is one of the better best westerns I've seen and for BW franchise, this is easily 4 stars for me. read more

What's another one-star review on a hotel that can barely manage 2 stars? Probably won't change any minds here, but, for the record, run away! I have no idea if anything on the hotel's website is accurate but I can tell you that not only is there no 24/7 valet as advertised, but there is NO PARKING OF ANY SORT available at this hotel. Your only option is if you can find street parking and feed a meter periodically, and, even then, your overnight parking expires at 8 AM and the car will need to be moved then. There are some parking garages in the area, but they have fixed operating hours and are not 24/7. I found this all out the hard way at 12:30 AM after a long day of travel and wedding activities. I was exhausted and looked forward to getting to the hotel and dropping my car with the valet. Called when I arrived only to be told there hasn't been parking since pre-COVID. Staff sounded pretty apathetic about this fact, but hard to blame the person at the desk for what is obviously a systemic failure of customer experience. But, imagine being completely exhausted, it's the middle of the night, driving a car you're not familiar with in a city you've never been to, then having to drive around for 45+ minutes looking for a parking spot on streets with confusing signage...not good. Ultimately had to abandon that reservation at like 1:15 AM and drove 15 minutes to downtown where I could find a hotel that had parking. Brutal, brutal night. And of course Best Western Gregory was still kind enough to charge my credit card for the reservation I never checked into (which is obviously getting disputed). read more

We stayed here in October of 2023. The location for visiting our son and his family couldn't have been more perfect. We stayed a few days on the front end of our trip and we were on the fourth floor which was great. You can hop on the subway and in 2 trains you are in Manhattan! When we returned on the second part of our trip we were on the 3rd floor and could feel and hear the subway.. not terrible but I definitely preferred the 4th floor room. Plus the 3rd floor hotel room had broken lamps... meaning they turned on and off but they were literally falling apart! They also have a nice breakfast in the morning to start your day! The hotel strongly REFUSED one night's refund when American Airlines cancelled my flight due to unscheduled maintenance on the night of 5 Aug 2023. Hotel said it was an Expedia reservation so I should go though them. However, Expedia and Orbitz are same company. It cost me $250 plus taxes. Orbitz didn't stand up for me either. No kidding, but Orbitz offered no recourse and noted it was my problem alone to handle. That's definitely not typical. read more

I've never been to this hotel before; the only reason I paid a visit was due to attending the monthly Bay Ridge Democrats Meeting. We usually meet at the BridgeView Diner. However, this month the Diner overbooked which caused the Bay Ridge Dems to find a temporary replacement. From the outside, one can see this hotel looks dated. The sign reads Best Western Gregory Hotel. When you enter the bright main floor, you immediately see the reception desk. There are an abundance of chairs in the lounge area. There is also a mini coffee bar with complimentary coffee and newspapers for guests. The meeting was held downstairs in a conference room. The space is ample enough to hold about 100 guests. The room looks like a throwback to the 1970s decor: red hard metal chairs and a funky looking carpet. The room had improper ventilation, which became a bit uncomfortable, and dim lighting. There was another table with complimentary coffee All in all, it was a challenge to withstand a two and a half hour meeting. On the way out, my friend and I used the restroom which was surprisingly clean. We took the elevator up to exit. Near the elevator is a stand with theater pamphlets for Broadway shows, Circle Line cruises etc. It struck me a bit odd that there wasn't any pamphlets promoting Brooklyn nightlife and sightseeing activities. Brooklyn is such a hip borough that this hotel should be promoting. The hotel is sandwiched between Third and Fifth Avenues; both have great restaurants and shopping areas. I'm not sure if this hotel has partnerships with these merchants; if not they should. This hotel was conveniently located near the R train at 86th St which you can actually hear go by if you're staying on the 2nd floor. The floors were really creaky. If your neighbors were up and about, you definitely will hear their footsteps! Those working at the front desk were all really nice, helpful, and friendly. I was in town only for the Brooklyn Half Marathon, so the room was adequate for the short weekend trip. The room, bed sheets, and towels were all clean. The AC unit was a bit noisy, but I had no trouble falling asleep. There were many restaurants and food options all within walking distance. I would not have any problem staying here again if I need to be in the Brooklyn area. read more

I wish I could give this hotel a negative star rating ... it is that bad.. the front desk staff are very nice.. that will be the last good thing you read about this hotel ... I stayed five days .. 5 long disgusting days...let me start out with the smells.. it smells Rank .. not so much the lobby/ first floor area... but the rest of the hotel just stinks... and that's during the day.. at night it gets worse.. went down to the vending machines to get a cold drink and the smell of pot was everywhere.. mixed with the usual day time funk ... the carpets look like they haven't been deep cleaned in years.. there were bugs in the elevator.. and flying bugs all over the unwrapped Pastry selections at the free breakfast .. if your smart you'll stick to the individual cereal bowls and fruit... on top of that the a/c didn't barely worked ... there is a huge F rating posted on the door of the hotel for energy efficacy .. why did I stay... my mom was near death at a hospital on 55th street and 1 st Ave .. this hotel was the closet I was aware of to the hospital ... thank God my mother surprised all the doctors and has been granted a little more time on earth .. We recently stayed a few days at this hotel and had an OK experience. The hotel is conveniently located in a very good area of Brooklyn with plenty of restaurants and shopping options, however it needs some major revamp. The front desk personnel were the only good thing at this hotel. Our room was outdated, the mattress was sagging and the pillows were so old, they were almost flat. The bathroom was very large, however it was perfunctionarly cleaned and there were several spots with old stains that would need attention. The most annoying thing was the AC device in our room: it was incredibly noisy and made impossible to have a good sleep. The room smelled very musty. The walls were paper thin so you could hear everything happening upstairs or in the adjacent room. At over $220 a night, there should be better options in Brooklyn. read more

It seems we were put in "the naughty corner" room. There's absolutely NO view of anything other than the ventilation system and trash. The room is decorated in a clean, steel gray and blue color scheme. The beds are comfortable. However, the sheets do not match the pillowcases. Plus they lack in quality. The staff so far is ok. I was witness to a staff member being extremely rude to a guest this morning during breakfast. When I brought it to his attention; he had many excuses, defense and deflections. When all he needed was humility and an apology. Housekeeping did a nice job while we were out. Mostly, I'm more disappointed than satisfied. Made me sick. The hotel was disgusting, I just stayed there and checked out early. The water is NOT CLEAN, the air is musky, the service is slow. The rooms are noisy, you can hear your neighbor. The building is run down, on the inside and outside. I'm someone in my 20's, I tend not to care as long as a place is clean. But this hotel literally made me sick, which is unacceptable. DO NOT stay here or recommend it to any of your friends. It's not worth it. Ruined the first part of my trip to New York City until I moved places. I asked for a refund for the second part of my stay and the staff said you'd have to take it up with corporate. In all honesty I would give this place two stars, but what it does have going for it is an ideal location, cheap over night parking, good wifi, and really nice staff. Breakfast is included when you book a room and the rooms are clean and relatively inexpensive. Now for the issues. The breakfast is pretty limited when it comes to the hot options. They serve eggs and some meat every morning. The rooms are not refreshed every day and this is not even something you can request. This is confusing to me because you're a hotel? And finally there is only one very narrow elevator for the whole building. Which would be fine since I don't believe the hotel is that big, however if you are trying to fit two people in, bags and all, forget about it. I'd still stay here. BED BUGS!! We had to leave in the middle of the night with a 1 year old and drive 5 hours home after waking up and discovering our bed was infested. Called the front desk and they were completely non-chalant about it like it was a normal occurrence. "Ahh ok we'll send up keys for a new room". No thanks! I understand bed bugs can happen anywhere, but their response to this indicates to me that this is an issue that is already well known to them. They seemed to not be phased by it, didn't care to see the bugs nor the blood stained sheets from smushed bugs. They know this is an issue and they don't care!! read more

A wonderful experience from start to finish! I was in town for a wedding and I was traveling with my 6mo old baby. They were so helpful by providing a pack n play for us - the baby slept so well, and so did we! Justine was so helpful getting us checked in and making sure we had everything we needed. Xiomara at the bar went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure the wedding weekend was a fun time for us to catch up with family and friends. She anticipated our needs and made it feel like home. Okay here is my opinion on the Best Western Gregory Hotel at 8315 4th avenue Brooklyn NY I've stayed there quite a few nights everything was going fine until I asked them for my deposit back which they charged me much more than what they were supposed to then they charged me twice for the same hotel room and didn't put the money back on my credit card it's been over two weeks and they we're supposed to put my money back within a week every time I ask them they lied to me and told me I will take care of it today the lies just kept coming and coming and the managers were informing the staff to ignore me I overheard the manager saying it the manager that I'm talking about is the gentleman I believe he is the top manager there I also don't see any white people working there talk about being racist there are no white people working there but I think the manager in my opinion the gentleman is racist every time I was talking with him or to one of the employees he had a very unusual position with me but as I noticed when other people were there meaning other African American guest's or Arabic guest's he treated them with more respect than he did with myself anyways the lies kept coming and I've also noticed all over the hotel and especially in the rooms they want to be cleaned as they say on the signs that they're disinfecting everything my hotel room was never cleaned when I was there they never asked me if I wanted my room cleaned and when I asked them the manager got mad and said well you're supposed to tell us before 12:00 p.m. with an attitude honestly the last time I was there which was probably last year was a better experience than when I was just there I definitely would not recommend this hotel anymore what they say about taking care of the guests and the cleanliness I don't see it and it made me feel very very uncomfortable being there like I wasn't supposed to be there that's how I felt I hope everybody else that goes there has a different experience but I cannot say that this hotel was taking care of me as a guest with the respect and the kindness that you're supposed to have to any human being I just felt very uncomfortable there and I will never return to that hotel and I am trying to get my money back almost $400 but apparently they're not releasing my money read more

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff is nice but the hotel itself needs serious work. It smelled like cigarettes from the elevator all the way to our room. The hallways are narrow and creepy. The pipes in the walls were noisy. There was a weird, red stain on the carpet in our room. And the breakfast was not a breakfast at all. It was an egg and cheese sandwich that had to be microwaved, an apple, a granola bar, and a tiny juice box. Not worth the money. read more

Sometimes it's hard for me to post a negative review on any business but I feel like I have to let the business to know what exactly was wrong and why aren't customers happy with your service or product. This happened recently. I've booked this hotel last minute for my friend that came to the states for a visit. Yes we did checked in late but we have requested a king size bed room which it wasn't available at the time we checked in and I totally understand that and respect that. Oh and yes I'd booked through one of the discounted sites. But when we arrived it took almost an hour to check in which there's basically no one on line. I'd let it go. So my friend was good with 2 doubles room. But it went downhill from there on. Because there were price difference between the doubles and the king room. So my friend just asked the gentleman at the counter if she can get the difference back by any chance. If she could then she's happy if not that's fine too. At the moment she mentioned that the guy started to be very impatient and kept emphasizing that we booked through that discounted site. Seriously who doesn't these days and are we second class now because we prefer discounts over regular prices? He just kept going at us nonstop. At that moment I had to step up and tell him to calm down. Now after that we finally finished checking in. My friend went to her room and then walked out moment later and I asked her what happened. She said that the room wasn't even cleaned. So there's another gentleman at the counter at that time (I didn't want to deal with the first guy cuz I know I might go at it with him)gave us another room immediately. Finally! Now is this what we called good customer Service? This is the first for me ever. I work in the area and sometimes when my friends or customers asks if there's any hotel in the area, I always refer them to best western. Spent the night here tonight and I am extremely disappointed. This was supposed to be a getaway night for me and hubby as I am 8 and a half months pregnant and it was our anniversary. From 10pm until 330 am (when we checked out) there was extreme noise from the room above us. At first we thought it was sex banging and figured we would let it pass but two hours later it kept going and getting louder. We realized it was not sex sounds but more of someone running and banging above us. We called front desk and they said they would check on it and nothing was done. On top of it we got phone calls to our phones from other rooms asking if we heard the noise and if it was us. So if you have multiple guest complaining in the middle of the night...why wouldn't you find the issue and fix it. Clearly staff did nothing if guest are trying to figure it out themselves. At 330am we could not take it. We asked for another room was given another room which said non smoking outside yet smelled like cigarettes. Being pregnant and in a room of this smell is not pregnant. We ended up checking out in the middle of the night and front desk seemed to not care we asked for a refund and was simply told no. I mean how did we get a no when clearly we did not sleep and was in contact back and fourth with the front desk all night. Oh I also should mention we held our baby shower here just a week or two ago and gave them about $1000 for our party yet this is how we treated. So there goes our anniversary and last time out before the baby. I am extremly upset with how this was handled. The guests causing the issues should have been the ones to leave rather than a couple trying to get a good night sleep. Never staying here again. read more
