This is a long one, grab a snack! -First Impression- Lobby was super cute, everything looked clean and well kept -Service- Kai checked me in at the front desk. She was on the phone when I arrived and was very apologetic for the wait time, which was only a couple minutes. There was another person at the front desk who was helping another guest, she also saw me when I came in and helped the guest who walked in after me. Check in was pretty easy, Kai was as accommodating as she could be and checked for any upgrades that could be applied. My room was very clean. Not sure when they made updates, but my room had hardwood floors which I was sooo happy about because the reviews I've seen show carpeted rooms which kinda skeeve me out, lol. Also, lovely views of the little park. -Price- This hotel was slightly pricier than others close by -Did Not Like- I stepped out for a brief period of time to grab a bite to eat, maybe 30 minutes max, and when I returned there was an item that was no longer present at the bottom of one of my bags. I was unable to address this with the staff in the moment, so I brought it to their attention the next morning at checkout (Saturday). Ashley wrote down the details of the incident and immediately offered me the managers contact information. I sent a email the following Monday. After a bit of back and forth over the course of about 2 weeks, they said their investigation was "inconclusive", but reimbursed my missing item "in good faith" after I showed them proof of purchase. -Noteworthy- One of the main reasons I chose this hotel over others in the area was the rooftop. Unfortunately it was closed for renovations, which was not displayed anywhere on the website prior to booking. -Recommend- Very cute place, but unfortunately I would not feel comfortable staying there again. Had a really great stay here! The staff was super friendly and welcoming from the moment we checked in, and the entire hotel had a great, quiet atmosphere overall. The rooms were extremely clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. I have been a longtime user and guest of Marriott hotels & brands for YEARS, especially the Aloft brand in particular - the Aloft New York Brooklyn is by far the WORST Aloft/Marriott I have EVER stayed at. Customer service from the front desk and staff THROUGHOUT the stay was abysmal and horrendous. Half the time you couldn't even find someone AT the front desk to help you out with anything, and when they were there, they literally would drag their feet or pretend to do something when they actually weren't! Anytime I requested or asked for something, I would be told it's 'done' and that I'm 'good to go', but inevitably I would find out that NOTHING had actually been done!! This led to me also receiving very rude interactions with the housekeeping managers, who would act like I was in the room without permission due to the lack of communication between any of the staff here regarding my check-out times and other such issues. As for the hotel itself, it clearly is not being properly maintained, and things are grimy, dented, and nasty throughout the rooms and halls. The door handle for my first room literally BROKE, and doors throughout the building all have half broken, drooping door handles...scuffs, marks, and broken bits EVERYWHERE. It shouldn't be that hard to maintain a relatively new hotel if there was an effort AT ALL put into it, but the staff/management here clearly DOES. NOT. CARE. AT ALL. OH - and watch out for scams here when it comes to charges they'll put on your card!! They created a second folio and had multiple duplicate charges for the SAME room and the SAME nights, and have refused to remove them!! I have disputed the charges on my card and filed complaints with Marriott regarding the shady, scam-like activities that the management at this hotel engages in. Needless to say, I will NEVER stay at the Aloft New York Brooklyn Hotel EVER again - and I highly recommend that all of you steer WELL clear of it as well. read more

I had a great experience at the Aloft. With Admiral status they treated me so well. Check in was easy with a fruity drink if you had to wait for your room to be prepared. Lobby has a nice bar if you need a quick drink as well. There is a gym on the bottom floor for your workouts. Rooms were clean and spacious. The staff had your room clean and perfectly organized every day if you wanted. I was also lucky to have a nice balcony to get some fresh air when I wanted look at the nice view of the park below. I had such a wonderful experience during my stay at Aloft Brooklyn. There are many great things to love about this hotel. Firstly, the customer service I received was excellent. Checking in and out was a breeze. I also appreciated that they accommodated me with having a lover level floor. Second, the hotel itself is modern and spacious. I believe they recently did renovations. My 7th floor room overlooked downtown Brooklyn, so no complaints here! Lastly, this hotel is in a prime location. Just two blocks away from the B/Q/R train on DeKalb, and directly across from City Point and DeKalb Market. So many options for shopping and food! read more

The night we arrived was after a 6 hour delay with a 14 month old. It was a rough and long day, including the uber ride to the hotel. BUT... the moment we got all of our belongings into the hotel lobby, MARIO was the most soothing of souls!! He was so wonderful, kind and accommodating. Immediately offered us much needed water and told us he was here for us if we needed anything. He was genuinely compassionate. This man, made our stay so much better. I'm grateful for his compassion and kindness more than he will ever know. 5 stars because of MARIO!! The hotel was very clean as well. read more

While the customer service was great and the room was decent I did experience other MAJOR issues. Bed bugs...you got it right, bed bugs. I noticed two during our stay along with a roach found in the bathroom. Along with this not only do they put a hold for incidentals they also put a hold for the full stay on top of the first night. Loved our stay up until the point of bed bugs but will never stay here again. Great location but not worth the headache. Told the front desk and they were only able to give Bonvoy points. Would give 1 star but the front desk receptionists were so kind. Pool is also no longer a thing so don't ask. read more

I asked at check in where I would be able to get a coffee at 6AM and was told not here, they don't have any coffee right now. In my book, thats truly unacceptable for a hotel. The lobby, hallways and room were in disarray, I guess because of the renovations. The room was barely OK, it felt a little.run down and nothing felt especially clean about the entire place. Back in August, I came to Brooklyn to surprise my fiancé . His ship was coming to port at the Brooklyn Navy Yard for a few days, so I came to visit. The hotel was easy to get to from JFK airport. I arrived super early before check in, but the hotel does allow you to check your luggage, so I did, and left to go walking and take in some grub and sights! Check in afterwards was easy, staff was very friendly and accommodating, our room was clean and had a great view of NY! I would definitely stay in this hotel again! read more

This Location in "downtown " Brooklyn can be very convenient- depending on where you're going. In room fridge, is nice. Electric wall outlets 3 of them- that don't work- odd and annoying. The in-room safe requires you to swipe a credit card and is also not secured to any part of the room - wtf! You will experience a loss of internet connectivity on T-Mobile due to very low phone reception and a lower reception on Verizon inside your room. No secure hotel WiFi- sad. You will likely hear the constant rumble of the elevators, street noise and the neighbors in the next room and hallway so bring earplugs and run the fan on constant. There's a Target, Trader Joe's, and many restaurants/ bakeries within a few blocks - so if you don't want to overpay for the convenience store in the lobby there are options, for breakfast,etcetera. The sink area has great lighting, a nice surprise in contrast to the odd esthetic choices of this hotel chain in furniture, decor, and utter lack of sound absorbing construction. The shower water is hot and pressure is okay- there's no adjusting the shower head. Turn the nozzle handle up from the bottom clockwise to get to the warm water. This is a Marriott hotel so it has the same terrible selection of tv service options with no ppv movies or streaming from your devices. The bed is firm and comfortable and the four pillows are of varying levels of softness- decent sleeping. The window shades are not blackout. I will not be back. read more

This small 170-plus-room hotel with a bright, cheerful lobby felt intimate and welcoming. Its close proximity to the DeKalb subway station and the City Point, which houses a Target store, a Trader Joe's, and the DeKalb Market Hall that offers a dazzling array of cosines, plus several interesting restaurants right adjacent to it, made it a good choice of stay when visiting Brooklyn. Our room on the 17th floor facing the City Center was quiet, cozy, and clean. It came with a small fridge. The bed was comfortable, and the shower water was strong. Stayed here for about a week with my dad. The Asian guy with the bangs at the front desk made a homophobic comment when we were checking in, weird. The room was not clean. Found a lot of random hairs of various lengths all over the room. Not convinced their housekeeping staff actually clean anything, they make the bed/give you fresh towels every other day FYI. The walls are thin and walking through the lobby will give you a headache. read more

I spend around 300-325 days on the road a year. I have ambassador member status with Marriott and typically stay true to the Marriott brand. Without a doubt this was the worst Marriott property I have ever stayed at. I'm not sure what is going on but it seems that staff may be split between the Aloft & neighbouring Sheraton hotel so it's rare to find someone other than a security guard on duty at the desk. Upon checking in, the desk could not find my reservation although I had a confirmation code on my phone in the Marriott app. When I was finally given a room key after a lengthy check in process and opened the door to the room and turned the light on I was embarrassed to wake up a couple who from the looks of it seemed to be living in the hotel and hadn't had a cleaning of the room in a fair while. The room which was on one of the higher floors (22nd) was pitiful. Even stepping out of the elevator was a shock to the senses. Holes in the walls, filthy stained carpets in the general area and a rancid smell. The room seemed filthy too and although the bed sheets were clean, I decided to sleep on top and keep my shoes on the entire time I moved around the room. I turned on the television to be met with a greeting saying that it had been stolen from Hilton Hotel group. The photos below speak for themselves. They are doing some major upgrades apparently so time will only well, but I would definitely be sceptical of booking here and personally I won't be staying here again. read more

We were able to choose our check in time online but when we got there after a hellish redeye and endless subway ride from the airport, we were told at 8am that our room wasn't ready and we could store our stuff until around 2 or 3p... it was 8am and we hadn't slept since the day before so we opted to take the available room which was two beds. It was our first real trip since getting married 8 years ago and having kids and it was a pain in the ass. The hotel was fine.. for the price I expected so much more. There is a lobby counter bar that is very limited and is not open often and sort of a corner area that sells basics. The website and the hotel make it look like they have a pool but when you get there, you find out about it's really the hotel next door's and you don't have access. The one thing I appreciated is there's a sort of mall across the street with a Target and food hall which kinda made up for the lack of room service and bar. Hotels in Brooklyn are all pretty pricey but this wasn't the cheapest option by any means and I expected more. read more

We stayed here for 3 nights last week and we had a really great experience! The walls were a bit thin, I could hear someone in the room next to us playing a video game or game on their phone, but it was short lived and not late at night or early in the morning. The reason for the five stars is for the location, there are places to eat next door and within walking distance. There's even a Trader Joes across the street. The amenities: gym, roof top bar, small hotel bar, but the five stars is mostly due to how kind and welcoming the staff were. I would stay here again. read more

There's a review from June 2022 saying that they were undergoing renovations at the time. As of June 2023, they still are. Three stars for being basically sanitary, safe, and near a subway. There was nothing WRONG with it, but it was shoddy and a little bit depressing in several ways. The biggest one was that the internet kept kicking me off, and sometimes I had to turn my wifi off and on 5-10 times before it would let me log in again. Fortunately it wasn't kicking my phone off and I was able to share the connection from there, otherwise I'd have racked up a lot of data charges! The front desk staff weren't very good at using the computer system. The bed didn't have fitted sheets, just a few flat sheets on top, and they kept shifting in the night so that I'd wake up on the nasty vinyl mattress pad. There's a fridge downstairs selling some frozen foods, but as far as I could tell no way to heat them up (either in the lobby or in my room). My room had nice blackout shades but they were slightly misaligned with the tracks on the wall so they kept on getting crumpled and letting light through anyway. Like I said, nothing major wrong. Don't hesitate to book here if the rates are favorable and you're wanting to use the subway during your stay. But definitely not my favorite hotel. read more

I was deeply disappointed in the Aloft Brooklyn property. When I went to check in, one desk clerk was speaking so long with an already-checked in guest that the guest finally told the clerk to wait on me. Upon using the bathroom in my room, I found a pair of black panties on the floor next to the toilet; in the shower stall, the shampoo and hair conditioner bottles had broken off from the shower wall and were lying near the drain. When I advised the front desk of these circumstances and showed them pictures of the situation, the desk clerk said "sorry" but did not offer to either place me in another room or have housekeeping come and attend to the items. The situation existed for the entirety of my stay. In addition, the air conditioning unit was so loud, it made sleep difficult. Although it could have been turned off, it was an extremely warm night so that wasn't an option. Also, the temperature couldn't be adjusted. Finally, when I went to check out, I was told I couldn't be given a copy of my bill because the printer was "out of ink". I've always made Bonvoy Marriott properties a priority choice. Although I am a hotel member, I'm sorry to say I'll reconsider this on future travels. read more

There is a sign in the lobby asking for patience during remodeling but it is not clear what remodeling is in progress. The room itself was fine. surfaces clean and everything works. I declined housekeeping so I can't comment on that. The lobby is a bit confusing with numerous sitting areas but no clear organization. The breakfast area was small and also a bit disorganized. read more

I stayed here for 7 nights June 7 - June 14, 2024. Unfortunately the bed in Room 1008 provided the worst sleep - or really no sleep - I asked for another room but that was not possible. So I suffered and got 4 massages while I was there - not in the budget! The blackout shades did not block the sun - streaming in hours before I would have normally woken up. When I researched the hotel I specifically planned to stay there because of the pool. Well the pool is there but it is closed - I was not informed about this until I asked a couple of days prior to arrival. The shower in the bathroom is horrible - no pressure and the head is fixed so I was unable to adjust it. I also asked for soap several times - bar soap - they told me that they did not have bar soap in this property. I will not be staying here again:( So sad because the location was perfect for me with both of my sons living equidistant from the hotel so made it very convenient to see each of them everyday. read more

Great location, super close to the R train. Street parking was not too difficult for NYC if you're leaving before 9-11am next morning. Perfect for day event/trip. Aloft breakfast options need improvement. Sure, it's snacks and pastries like any other aloft but if you're going to have a menu of items for sale, at least match over 50% of the items that's actually available. Neighbor was a bit loud at night, so walls are not extremely sound proof. Bed and pillows were really comfortable (consistent with Marriott experience). We did get complimentary upgrade to a large suite like room that was great. Overall 4.5/5. read more

The hotel is in a great location. There are 24 floors and the room views are breathtaking taking. Complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby is very morning! There's a pool table, bar, snacks for a fee, and a lounge area in the back. We arrived early we were able to store our luggage in a locked storage room before check in time. The staff was very kind and helpful they even let me borrowed a measuring tape to measure the bedroom in an apartment I was viewing that day. My room had 2 full size beds, the room was clean. My daughter killed a roach in the shower area on our first night. I mentioned it to the staff on our way out and when we returned the room was cleaned and we smelled bug spray . The next morning my daughter killed two bigger bugs in the bathroom area. I reported it to the staff and they were apologetic and moved our room immediately. However on the 3rd day the manager called me to see what happened and she apologized and gave me a 50% discount on the total charge and points on my Marriott bonvoy account. I still haven't received the points. I called today and they assured me they would be added today. I was satisfied with my stay and the resolution. We didn't see any bugs in the new room. read more

0/5 stars. My husband and I visited NY to celebrate an anniversary and birthday and this is by far the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. Not only the worst experience we have had, but the most expensive hotel stay we have had. We stayed 4 nights. On the first day there we let front desk know that our TV had one channel (and the audio was in and out) - yet it's advertised online that the hotel offers hundred of channels and HBO. Even after saying something on our first day, the TV wasn't fixed the entire time we were there. Things looked run down in the room. I hung up my towel on the towel rack in the bathroom and the bar immediately fell to the ground. Again, we informed the front desk and nothing was done. Lights in the room were broken and there was a hole in the front door (literally looked like someone had broken in at some point). When we got home from our trip we followed up day after day because we were so disappointed with our experience. Dealing with the hotel and Marriott head office has been a massive headache. For an industry with a main priority of customer care and customer experience, we feel completely ignored. Very disappointed with Marriott and we won't be staying at any of their properties again. They told her yes they could and when we arrived they gave the ajoining room away and put us on the 4th floor while the other party remanined on the 2nd floor. #horrible. Just say "no." First off, there was not a phone in the room, and I was placed on the 15th Floor. I used my cell phone to contact the front desk, and the only phone number they have I got on a phone with someone from Marriott (who knows) and they could not transfer to the main desk. The fire alarm went off at least five times during two days at the hotel, and after it would repeatedly go off, finally someone would say over the intercom, that tenants did not need to evacuate the building. No vending machines within the hotel, (they told me there was no place to eat within the hotel), No WI-FI that worked on the 15th floor and being in New York for business purposes. I had to go downstairs on a cramped little area to hook up my lap top to do the business part of my trip. How unsafe could you get when you are 15 floors up, with NO emergency landline phone, no way to contact the main desk, no way for wake up calls, no Wi-Fi...Unbelievable. read more

I needed a place to take a work call and stay for one night and this place fit the bill. I arrived in Brooklyn around 10am and needed early check-in. I requested early check-in when I booked the room and it stated they couldn't gaurantee but would try( as most places). Banking on this I booked a room and arrived around 11am. They had my room ready, thank goodness! My room was on the 15th floor (#1501) and it was a great room (1king bed), no issues at all.Everything was clean, the floor had a little bit of a stain but not much. I had ordered room service and it came quick. They even called to state they were out of an item but could substitute it. One thing about the lobby, I wasn't sure if I was in a convience store or a hotel? One side looked cool and trendy the other side looked a bit hodge podge of stuff and I wasn't crazy about how the check-in counter looked, a bit messy. I think if they worked on these areas it would look awesome. Overall I had a great stay! I would for sure stay here again. *If you are an spg member like me check out is 1pm instead of 12! read more

This was a good place for the money, and I liked the location in Downtown Brooklyn near many train lines. They crew cleaned it every day, even though I asked for every other day, and the shower didn't have anywhere to place anything. I didn't like the smell of their choice of soap/shampoo, so I had to bring my own into the stall with me, and the only place to put any of it was at the bottom sill of an opaque window that let in light. This hotel, owned by Marriott, is below the standards usually expected and provided by Marriott Hotels worldwide. I say this a a Marriott Gold member--shame on Marriott, corporate needs to decide whether it wants to invest in renovating, or dumping this tired hotel. There's a hip, trendy facade to the place, but it's just a facade. Everything else seems to be dark gray (gloomy gray), shoddy, low quality and minor league. For example, shampoo, soap and lotion is not provided in the rooms, instead there are liquid soap dispensers in the shower---ours were unlabeled, so you had to guess which was shampoo and which was liquid soap. The room clock was broken. The glasses in the bathroom were those plastic ones wrapped in a layer of plastic that you find in super cheap roadside motels....and so on. We asked the front desk if they offered room service and we were told "yes" but when we asked for a room service menu, we were told by the front desk that they didn't have one--and we could call over to the Sheraton next door because that's where the room service comes from. Huh? You mean you really don't have room service and you borrow Sheraton's. So weird. Valet parking...takes 30 minutes to an hour for them to bring you your car. Why? Because it's really the Sheraton's valet parking not Aloft's. Come to think of it....after all the above, why not just stay at the Sheraton next door?! Avoid this place! read more

This time the rooftop bar/club was open -- along with the blaring music you can here several floors downstairs and in my room until 1am. When I called the front desk to see if anything could be done, the representative seemed to think I was a little nuts to expect a quiet room to sleep in. Never staying here again.
