The stay here was cool BUT I'm still not sure what is up with the basement apartment style room. This is the first time I've ever stayed at a hotel with 1/2 Windows... I was initially thrown off when I was told to hit the down button on the elevator but this is New York so gotta expect the unexpected. Then I was in shock to see 1/2 sized windows and then I realized that it was eye level for anyone walking in the parking lot. On Sunday they must rent a space to a small church. I could hear the singing, but I really didn't want to. If u are in the bed with your husband, Wife, significant other, or lover, most ppl don't want to wake up to gospel music. This was my first time staying in this type of room, luckily I wasn't here to enjoy the view. Otherwise the hotel is nice and the staff was friendly. The parking lot wasn't as small as reviews made it seem, so next time I'll probably drive. And next time I'll definitely request a non-basement room! read more

I stayed here with a friend recently as she was able to book a free room for our NYC trip (yay points!). So I can't really comment on the pricing of the hotel, but I can say that now that I've visited, it admittedly wouldn't be a first choice for future visits. The #1 reason for this is that the bed was much too firm for my taste, not to mention that a king size bed basically took up our entire room. I suppose that's part of the NYC experience, and we managed. Fortunately the city took enough energy out of me that I slept on that hard mattress regardless. In addition to the bed not being ideal, the AC unit was pretty finicky during part of our stay - sometimes it couldn't decide if it wanted to run or not, so it would start and stop in a continuous and noisy loop. It was not exactly my dream room. A much bigger drawback on this particular trip was the tiny parking lot - specifically the lack of information about just how small it was. My friend arrived before me, and between the staff reassuring her that they had parking and a chained lot labeled "Parking" next door, she figured the lot for guests would be a normal sized one. Nope. I pulled behind the building after checking in and discovered about ten spaces. And one or two handicapped spots. I managed to snag the very last spot and never moved my car during my stay, but that's definitely something to keep in mind if a car is involved in your travels. And it's something the front desk should absolutely have warned us about in advance. The good news is that I didn't really need the car again (I mean, it's NYC - who does?). The hotel is fairly close to a subway station (and right by an overhead train) so if nothing else you'll be able to start your day and head into the city fairly quickly. That said, I wouldn't necessarily recommend staying in this area alone. I personally would not have felt comfortable if it had just been me, myself and I - especially since I was in town to see "Hamilton" and did not return to the neighborhood until it was very, very late. A 3 star "a-ok" rating is what I feel comfortable giving the hotel as a whole. The free breakfast was standard (but not bad!), the ability to get to the subway quickly was nice, and if you're here for a brief amount of time I can see this place being a decent short-term stop, although ideally you won't need to deal with the hassle of parking. I personally don't think I'll book here again, mostly because a firm bed is just not good for this girl and her back problems. read more

Ive stayed at this hotel 2 years in a row for my birthday when planning my annual "Girls Weekend". Usually a small group of my besties all meet here, get dressed for dinner, clubbing & then we do brunch somewhere in downtown Brooklyn that Sunday morning. Both times I stayed here I have been nothing but impressed by the staff, the rooms & the price. I am usually able to find a good deal on Orbitz or hotels.com rather than booking directly with the hotel. The rooms have always been clean & quiet considering where they are located (right under the LIRR on Atlantic Ave). Theres parking for guests which is a little awkward to get into at first but willing to have to back up into a parking lot to get free parking in Downtown Brooklyn. read more

Booked 3 nights in this hotel 12/27 - 12/30 since our flight was cancelled and we needed a place to stay for 3 nights. We wanted it in the Brooklyn area, and the appeal of a fridge and microwave made us choose it. Upon arrival I were greeted by the young lady clerk, she was very kind and accommodating through the whole ordeal. We booked and paid 3 nights. Got our keys and headed to our room on the 5th floor. As soon as we opened the room the stench of weed took over. No place for a toddler, or anybody else for that matter. I went back to the lady and the front desk, explained the situation, she apologized and gave me the key to another room on the 3rd floor. As soon as I opened the elevator room, the same smell of weed took over, and the room did too. Went back down, repeat, got a room on the 4th floor and the sqme thing. I went back to the front desk and I explained to the lady that this hotel was not for us. She very accomodatingley cancelled our reservation, and I got the funds back on my credit card almost immediately. While waiting for or lyft to go to another hotel I walked down the street to the concenience store. The hotel is located right behind the train and it is on a VERY bad part of town. Felt really unsafe walking 100 ft to the store and back. Hope this review helps other families when contemplating this hotel. read more

I was here for one night for work. I can't really comment on the neighborhood because I was really only here to sleep. The service was good they were very nice and I appreciated the demo at the front desk on how to turn the shower on. There is nothing worse than being naked and afraid in a strange shower. What I liked - Shower pressure was AMAZING - Clean and comfortable - Quiet - Dispensers for soaps -- I like this idea to minimize waste of one time use soaps etc. I was also given a "basement" room. While I was initially skeptical they explained its where you want to be because it's quieter. They are RIGHT NEXT to the train. I ended up really appreciating it. You still have a small window but it was definitely quiet. What I disliked - Heavy perfumed scent as soon as you enter the hotel. It's nauseating. It was in my nostrils for a long time. By the time I went to bed I didn't notice it anymore. Things you might like to know - Weird bathroom layout. There is a pedestal sink and toilet up against the mirror and there is a dresser by the bathroom door where they put the toiletries. It's not a big deal but it's just quirky. read more

An unfortunate experience on almost every front. The front desk staff are inefficient, inexperienced, and somewhat unfriendly. Check in took 15 minutes and should have taken 5 at most. The clerk was unfamiliar with the BW loyalty program. Staff are generally not wearing masks. The room and common areas are all badly worn and need updating and rehabilitation. In the room the carpet and hallways is dirty, floor tiles cracked, and walls scuffed and dirty. The towels are few and very worn. The sheets do not fit the bed. The breakfast area is tiny and very poorly stocked relative to other properties in the same category. The security guard was asleep in the lobby almost every time I came back late. There should be a security lock on the front door. I can hear smoke alarms in the "replace battery" mode. The wireless system is feeble and intermittent. Compared to other BW properties I've stayed at during the pandemic, this one has many more deficiencies. read more

I booked this hotel because it was close to my daughter's new apartment and thought it would be a nice walk. WRONG. The location is sooooo sketchy and I was afraid to walk around alone, even in the morning! My first night, there was a "guest" next door who evidently lives there (not sure how long term her stay is) and she had her music and TV up full blast all night. The front desk staff moved me the next morning and that night was so much better, but the hotel overall was loud and reeked of weed. Out front there were numerous cars with missing wheels, flat tires etc. Could be parking for an auto body place nearby...but still. Not a good first impression. My Wife and went to visit family in Brooklyn, decided we would save some money and stay close to where family was located, bad move. The Hotel was not in most desirable of locations. Upon checking into the hotel and stepping foot in the room, it all went down hill from there. The room had a damp odor and smelled of cigarette smoke, carpet had a red spot looked like a blood stain, toilet had urine stains on the toilet bowl/tank and toilet did not flush. The shower gel/ shampoo containers in the shower were all empty. This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in, just think I cancelled the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott downtown Brooklyn for this hole in the wall dump. After numerous complaints they gave us a $45.00 credit but, stated the credit would be $60.00, we will never stay here again. read more

That was a bonus to have found. In my line of business I'm a huge fan to criticize CS because I find it so hard to match, when you travel to NY it's so loud and busy that CS is often forgotten.. but you out stood tremendously and got the attention of my son. My wife and i stayed in for one night. Rooms here are very clean! Most of Ny four-five star hotels are not as clean as this property. Bedsheets, carpet, towels and bathroom - everything is fresh and clean. there are even bathrobes in the room. This is a freshly renovated property: .does not have any bad smell at all. Staff - very friendly. Inconvenience is the parking that is one block away, but we were allowed to park right in front as it was too late. The only "problem" seems to be the neighborhood that looks bad. Not for walking. plus beware of the trains passing by every 10 min. ask for room in the side opposite to the front door. Do yourself a favor and do NOT STAY at this hotel!!!! Let's start with the room and the fact that the curtains don't close. They are sheer see through curtains that don't provide any privacy and do not shield the light which came streaming through, night and day, which did not provide a comfortable night sleep. When asked the front desk to be moved to another room, the woman said the rooms are all the same design. The thick curtains on each side are pure decoration and do not close. Also I could hear the Long Island rail road go by at night. I was also put next to the ice machine which sounds like construction when trying to sleep. Then let's move onto the parking lot which they will tell you has limited spaces. Meaning in real life experience you can't park in the lot and you have to pay for parking at 9 dollars for 12 hours in the parking lot around the corner!!!! Street parking is difficult and rare. You can not park on Atlantic avenue at all. The breakfast was fine. The staff is friendly. Then after paying for parking almost every night. The real slap in the face was how much I was quoted to stay at triple a rate of 96 a night. I Was floored when I got the final bill, after a week long stay and it was doubled what I was expecting. Trust me, Find another hotel with a bigger parking lot and curtains that close!!!!! read more

This was an excellent deal for our recent stay in Brooklyn, very clean and comfortable. The only problem we encountered was waiting about 20 minutes for the front desk person to return to the lobby when we checked in late at night -- otherwise there was always someone friendly and helpful on duty. Note that the neighborhood is not totally "gentrified" or close to the hipster areas if that's what you're hoping for, but if you'd like to see a cool and diverse side of Brooklyn you might not visit otherwise, I highly recommend staying here! read more

We booked a stay here over the holiday weekend through a third party site and was happy with our choice. Room was equipped with a nice flat-screen hanging on the wall and clean when we arrived. However, the previous guest's keys were still on the dresser and the bar of soap was opened and used. Housekeeping decided to ignore the do not disturb sign we hung outside our door and woke us up a couple of times but other than that the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel's location isn't bad depending on where your destination is. The best way to get to Williamsburg/Greenpoint area is a 10-15 minute car ride. As for the city, we were in SoHo in about 30 minutes (10 minute walk to the AC and transfer to the F train). The neighborhood was safe during the day but I would not take anything but a car/taxi at night. This is coming from someone who lived in Detroit for 4 years. Overall, the hotel itself is definitely worthy of 4 stars. That being said, the surrounding area makes it a solid 3 in my book. read more

In town for my friends baby shower and needed an inexpensive hotel for one night. She and her hubby lives in Prospect Park, so I decided to find a hotel in bk. I'd never stayed at a Best Western, but decided to take a chance because of the $100 deal. Glad I did. For the price, it wasn't bad. Nia checked me in and she was super nice and had sterling customer service. That in itself earned the 4 stars. The room was small, but very comfortable and had a lot of conveniences, microwave, fridge and good TV. Someone on here made some disparaging comments about the neighborhood, which is always interesting to me, but I found it to be just fine and safe. I walked at night through the neighborhood trying to find something to eat. The residents were nice, I didn't see any winos or "sketchy" people. I saw people minding their own business. If you're not comfortable in the "hood," as you referred to it, then find another place to stay. Or better yet, do your homework before you check in. My only con is the LIRR being the mode of transportation, outside of the bus. I took a taxi from Penn Station and it cost me $35, but it's okay, considering I wasn't sure where I was going. I would stay here again and I recommend it if you're looking for a cheap, but clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay. read more

My mother and I were able to get a room at this hotel last minute. It is three blocks from the subway, which made it very convenient. We got there a bit early, and we were offered free early check in with a room right away. Unfortunately, that room was in the basement. Although I'm sure if you're desperate for a room, the basement will suffice. However, we really preferred to not be on the basement floor, and asked for a different room. They were quite accommodating and even gave us complimentary water while we waited. We waited less than half an hour, and then we had a room on the fourth floor. Much better! They have a small gym, with a universal weight apparatus and a treadmill. The best part of the experience was the breakfast. What a pleasant surprise! I'm usually not very happy with continental breakfast. This was far from it. There were hard-boiled eggs, fresh baked bread (from the looks of it, most likely from a local bakery) coffee, juice, electrolyte limewater, and lots of other options. They even had a pancake maker. They also had real butter, not the margarine packets. This to me shows that they are not skimping on the breakfast items. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel. Some of the best customer service I've ever received was at this hotel. A *huge* thank you to the staff here for being so fantastic, and congrats to the folks at corporate: your people at this location are doing a tremendous service as ambassadors to your brand in general. The basics: the room was noticeably bigger than I expected, very clean, comfortable bed and pillows, nice bathroom, functioning climate control, and surprisingly quiet with respect to street noise as well as inside the building (i.e., I couldn't hear other guests through the walls or in the hallways). Check in was smooth and the front desk agents were very accommodating with my early arrival. I was already worn down when I arrived, and their friendly demeanor lifted my spirits. The "above-and-beyond" customer service: without getting too into the details, I had a health issue as I was leaving to check out -- it was nothing that required a hospital visit, but a combination of changing my migraine medication and basically forgetting to eat (and barely sleeping) for 72 hours straight due to a high-stress work situation led to me collapsing in the hallway. One of the gentleman at the front desk spotted it on the security cameras, came to make sure I was okay, and went out of his way to offer me water, open up my room again for me to rest, and showed such compassion for me that I still feel overcome with gratitude when I think about it. My stay here was at the end of two of the most stressful months of my life, and I can only say thank you for showing me such kindness and hospitality when I was so utterly spent. I had made reservations to stay here and cancelled the required the 48 hours a head of time. I was told everything was fine. And now, five weeks later they are charging a no show fee of 240 dollars. I just called to have the charge reversed and they refused to help because I did not have my cancellation number. Why would I keep that for five weeks! And shouldn't they have that in their records. They were not helpful and at all and when I asked to speak to the general manager he was not willing to speak with me either. Horrible customer service and shady billing habits. Friendly staff!!! This hotel is standing proof that "it's what's inside that matters". Warm hospitality like this in an apparently hard neighborhood is very comforting. The rooms are clean, smell is fresh, and the staff is aiming to please here. My room window was facing the back of the building and it was quiet enough for me to sleep well. I could hear some noise from the front street, but it wasn't too loud. There was a mini fridge and microwave which was nice. There is free wifi aswell. Sure it is located in a dreary place. Most reviews here state the same thing, so forwaning cancels out the complaints on the hotel's surroundings. If you drive 5 minutes up the street you come upon Barclays and a large shopping mall. The subway entrance is about 2 blocks away. Breakfast is free. Options include pancakes, cereal, breakfast bagels, toast, yogurt, coffee cake, coffee, fruit juice, milk, almond milk... Etc. Leticia reminds me of my mom! She keeps the breakfast area spotless and well stocked. She will go out of her way to help you get your pancakes right. Like mom, she worries that everyone is well fed, she says "Have enough to hold you." and seems happy to offer more pancakes, cereal, etc. The reception staff are great in helping you with directions and finding transportation for you. Before booking this Hotel I looked at the reviews on another site and they were all great reviews. When we arrived, I was shocked at the surrounding area. We were in the Hood. I thrive in ethnic diversity but this was a case of being the minority and It was a very stressful situation. We stayed away and tried not to think about where we where going to be sleeping that night. When you walk outside all the area has bars on every window and at night they have these solid steel doors that then lock into the hooks into the sidewalk so people still can't break in (I thought geez isn't that overkill they already have bars). On the outside of those steel roller doors is filled with graffiti. Places are boarded up, it's a very scary place. As for the Hotel it was clean, rooms are really small. The heating and cooling system is unpredictable, you couldn't get the temperature right and the system never shut off even if it reached the temp you had set on the thermometer. No room to walk around and their complementary breakfast was a joke. NO fresh fruit, they had a pancake maker but it was broke. The cereal was in huge plastic containers on the counter so you couldn't take anything with you. They served rolls that looked hard as rocks and who eats sesame rolls for Breakfast anyways? So you could have cereal and that was about it. Staff was nice and helpful so it's nothing against them. Just beware, I don't usually leave reviews but if my review could stop someone from making the same mistake that I did then I have done my part. read more

A great hotel with some free parking in the back. Free breakfast recently redone hotel, hd flat screens and some goofy blue fluorescent lighting. The staff is amazing and the rooms are immaculate. If the rooms are too blue they will give you a warmer bulb for the table lamp. The rooms are pretty quiet for being across the street from the elevated LIR. Very convenient if you need to get to Long Island. The A train is three short blocks away. The neighborhood is in transition but seemed safe enough to walk from the subway after a show. There are not a lot of places to eat or drink nearby but the couple of highly rated takeout spots we tried were very good. If you want it to be quieter reserve a king and insist on staying on the back side of the hotel and you wont hear the train. We stayed on the front side but didn't mind the clatter. Great room, great staff, free parking in Brooklyn, free wifi and a pretty good Continental with fresh rolls. Great value. read more

I stayed at this hotel this past weekend 07/24/2021-07-25-2021. My room # 302 the A/c unit was broken with wires showing, the phone did not work no dial tone ( That's an emergency hazard). They did change my room to 402 but unfortunately the information was not relayed to housekeeping. The next morning the women banged down the door like she was the cops and did not stop yelling to get out , it was a shouting match through the door. The lady told me and my guest to get out we were suppose to be out by 10:30am ( not true- check out is at 12n) ask the front desk associates Errol and Ashley I spoke with them ( the only two helpful people at the BW). The lady scared my guest and I we were not sure if we should open the door. I am aware this is not the trump tower and I am ok with that. I have been to BW in Maryland were I live and I have never been treated like a second class citizen. I am not sure if they don't care about the Newyoker's but you will respect me and the money I pay. My experience was terrible the only good thing you guys have going on is the awesome front desk staff Ashley and Errol ( please thank them for me) - If I come back it will be because they were so respectful to me and my guest) I like the area its next to awesome shops and the Subway. I have contacted the cooperated office , BBB and left a review on booking.com. If the BW team in NYC could reach out to the customer service team in Maryland and try and train their housekeep staff on professionalism, and how to be courteous to guest that would be a great start. Where did you guys find this women ( housekeeper) is she a pre- released women from somewhere ( Prison) my guest and I were scared shit less we were not sure if she wanted to harm us because we did not leave the room by 10:30am. This is 100 % unacceptable this room including parking for one night was almost 300.00 dollars that was debited from my card a day prior to my arrival and my stay was terrible. Keep the same energy as when my Visa was swiped and I received all this thank you emails for me coming to to property. BW describes the stay a " home away from home" false statement at the 1324 Atlantic ave location in Brooklyn. To the Best Western community I begging you guys to not treat another patron of you establishment like you did me I prefer you treat them better with dignity and respect. Let's see... unsafe neighborhood, which never came up in any of my searches. I saw several shady things in the one day we stayed. Across the street from the Subway. The staff had a nonchalant care-free attitude. Rooms were small but hey- it's New York. The breakfast was fairly good and there is a staff member there at all times re-filling and rotating out items. Wi-fi is very slow. I would not recommend staying at this hotel if you have children with you. read more

My husband and I booked into this establishment for three nights due to a family emergency. The key did not work when we got to the door. Which is understandable but when we returned from the hospital the next day, it did not work again. ITt was then reactivated and saw the room was not cleaned and there weren't any clean towels. We are aware of the pressures of covid, so we didn't bother the hotel. At 5AM, we were awakened to a noise of someone getting into our hotel room with a WORKING key. Luckily, my husband locked the top lock hatch so the door couldn't open completely, but that didn't stop the people from fiddling with the hatch from the outside. We had to yell that someone is in the room. Just when we thought we could get some rest, security came and knocked on the door. We had to get up and confront the male clerk that held a paper stated that our room was vacant and clean. This was all do to a front desk error. We were treated as we were in the wrong given a dirty room and not comfortable sleeping in a location that would given another individual a key to our room. This whole interaction was unacceptable and left us very uneasy. We didn't return the last night and we came to get our bags. Our key, again, didn't work. read more

So I am moving from Brooklyn to Manhattan, and I enlisted my parents to assist me. They booked the Best Western as it was close to my apartment. A day before they were set to arrive, my mom was seriously injured. I called Best Western to try and cancel/even just get hotel credit. The hotel staff did not care. Even I explained the seriousness of the accident (it involved her being medevacted), they said they did not think that was a good cancellation reason. They are racist, the hotel attendant is nervous as fuck because of the neighborhood, then do not put a hotel in that neighborhood, like he feels someone is going to rob him, fuck him! , all of a sudden they need the other guest id to be in the room, i have been to other best westerns and we never had to show our id, i feel tension with the guard everytime we are in there, like i went their like 2 weeks ago and they would not take cash, even though your id would be on file, they said they needed something on file, so when we were parked in the parking lot for like 5 minutes looking for somewhere else to stay, as we leave the guard comes out with this serious look, like he was about to tell us to leave, we only there for 5 minutes, it's a nice hotel but they should not put the hotel in that area if they are nervous with other ethnic groups , when their guard is also of a ethnic background read more

Best Western plus hotels have always been comfortable experiences. Staff was super friendly and very clean. Well kept facility. One thing they could improve on is their breakfast. We were very surprised at how nice and clean the room was..the inside is updated..friendly staff except for the man behind the desk late at night..great location..only problem was parking ofcourse but its NYC..everyone complaining obviously doesn't understand how worse it could be..overall great stay..I would definitely book again..oh and the breakfast was pretty good too. read more

This hotel is small, quiet and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room had a fridge and a microwave which helps when you are on a budget or traveling with kids. The continental breakfast was well stocked and there was some good healthy options. We had planned to stay for 3 nights of our trip but liked it so much we stayed for all seven nights. The location was perfect because it was one block away from the subway stop and we were able to catch an express train into Manhattan every day. read more

Bottom line... this hotel is in a predominantly black neighborhood...a working class neighborhood....with beautiful brownstones and black owned businesses....many of us hate this hotel being here...its only here because of the Barclays center...and yeah...i though it was a horrible place for a hotel too considering the L.I.R.R is right across the street...this neighborhood is being hugely gentrifed ...so maybe that'll make you white people feel safe...i see terms like "hood" or "sketchy"....please ain't noone trying to bother y'all....judgemental racist pricks! looks like you're used to being the majority and not the minority and when you are the minority you freak out!....it's ridiculous...go get a hotel in Manhattan with the rest of the tourists and if you can't afford it...get your money up! read more

I took myself and my 7yr old son here for the week.....to get some peace and quiet from family at home....we went to work and school....it was heaven !!!! single mom's best thing ever.....clean rooms...quiet...order take out.....cable.....heat...a.c......amazingly comfy bed. ......King size bed......we did his homework....He played his game.......ate....laughed...talked....t.v. I was going to give five stars but the coffee maker was dirty from last ppl.....it wasn't cleaned....that's the only thing I am sure the cleaning staff just missed it by mistake...Also some of the front desk staff are soft spoken...so make sure you are clear on prices. GREAT PLACE TO STAY I WILL BE BACK ! read more
