What an awesome find in the perfect wine town of Calistoga! This BW really impressed the fiancé and I on our most recent stay in Calistoga. Tucked away yet within walking distance of everything Calistoga has to offer! We were minutes away from restaurants and wine, and even walked to dinner! Love that they have a pool and their breakfast was actually pretty plentiful for a hotel! The check-in desk attendant was friendly and gave us cookies upon checking in (yum!). We usually stay at the Cottage Grove in when visiting Calistoga but they were sold out. We only needed an overnight so we gave BWP a go. When we checked in 400pm or So there was a young male managing the lobby. Not friendly or helpful what so ever and I right away thought we had made a mistake. But he eventually left and we had Maya the next morning. She was very helpful, personable and gave great suggestions. The rooms were nothing fancy but they were comfortable and clean. The pool Area was nice and breakfast was satisfactory except the espresso/coffee machine which was not. All and all this was a nice overnight stay. Thanks Maya you represented well. read more

Spacious room, clean and inviting- lots of amenities- coffee bar and sink, refrigerator and microwave. Bathroom was also clean and had large countertop, very nice glass enclosed shower, hair dryer , shower caps, lots of towels , etc. The check-in time is 4 pm, but as the hotel is right downtown we enjoyed exploring Calistoga's shops, Copperfield's bookstore, and many other interesting places while waiting to check in. The hotel has beautiful lobby /lounge area, an outdoor pool and hot tub as well as an indoor fitness center and mini laundromat . The hotel also features a pretty deck with tables and chairs for eating outside . The only minor issue was that our room was near the pool area and whenever someone opened the gate , it was kind of noisy.But everything is locked up at 11 PM so our sleep was not interrupted. The breakfast area was really nice and well stocked with hot and cold food; scrambled eggs, sausage, as well as a waffle maker , bagels , breads, oatmeal ,fruit, beverages , yogurt, and cold cereal. We would highly recommend this Best Western- and did I mention that it was VERY REASONABLY PRICED- So all of the above plus a very helpful staff and a check in process that included chocolate chip cookies! read more

3-26-22 A wonderful place to stay. The Plus in the name does justice to this lodging. Fast easy check in, healthiest shiniest landscaping I've ever seen like every leaf on every plant was wiped and given a sheen. The flowers were huge and vibrant. The waterfall beneat our room was powerful. They have a heated pool but we didn't have a chance to try it although from our bedroom window it looked inviting. Both hubs and I liked the room's set up, so bright and white and majorly clean. I especially appreciated that in the shower was a 3 way separate dispenser of body wash, shampoo and conditioner. It smelled like lavender and/or like bathing in a lemon grove- loved it! The cool thing was once I stepped into the rain shower I started hearing like gongs or cymbals- hey what's going on? I figured it out that as the shower water hit the metal slab drain it made various sounds- like being in your own meditative spa. We had a king bed and a pull out couch set up. I joked with hubs, the couch is for you. He actually took me up on the offer. Since I had the papa bear size bed to myself when I reached out to spread out my arm that side of the bed jiggled like jello- cool! Breakfast was included with made to order omelets like at Main Street very fancy and even flat ware not plastic utensils. About twice the cost of our lodging the first night near Sacramento Airport and SO worth it!!! Last but not least, our room came with a fireplace. Just turn the knob on the wall and it can stay on for 60 minute intervals. Come try it for yourself- fun!!! read more

We have stayed here for 4 nights. Tonight is our last night. We are in Calistoga to celebrate the wedding of our friends Jami and Matt who were married last night! This property is ultra clean, conveniently and centrally located to the center of Calistoga. Our room was a king deluxe with a fold out sofa, desk and fireplace. It was very spacious. Color schemes are a little dated but it did not detract from our stay. The bed could be a little more robust and higher up as most hotel beds are now. The fireplace is fun to use and on a timer. It's a nice touch. The free breakfast was excellent too. I love scrambled eggs. Fresh fruit oatmeal. It was great and not routine. You will like your stay here. The staff is very accommodating. There is an elevator. The lobby is lovely. I would stay again. read more

My hubby and I got to stay here at the end of February right before everything shut down and 'Shelter-in-Place' orders were handed out for most of Northern California due to Coronavirus. Thinking back, I definitely feel even more lucky that we got to stay at this awesome hotel for a work thing, and we definitely hope to stay here again for a weekend getaway or some other fun trip once travel is safe again! This is for sure a much better Best Western than any other I've seen! Our room was very spacious, impeccably clean, modern, and looked out into a pretty green field (where we heard frogs at night making their soft "ribbit" sounds - it was pretty cool!). There was even enough room to roll out my yoga mat and get in a nice flow and stretch after having sat in the car for the 2.5-hour drive to get up here! Front desk staff were extremely friendly and welcoming upon check in/check out. The hotel grounds are really nice and landscaped as well. Definitely a nice place to stay in a quiet and peaceful corner of Calistoga/Napa County. read more

A couple of things I called for were to fix the room phone and the conditioner dispenser; also for fresh towels and linens. They were prompt in their response. I was very impressed with the hospitality I received from Rebecca (5 star service), she was courteous, friendly, and answered all my questions. The rooms have thin walls and you can hear your neighbors cough, you can hear people wheeling their luggage (mi us one star). The property looks and smells new which is a plus. The gym is functional and has weights from 5 to 50 lb increments, onsite dry sauna and steam room and heated pools. The bed is comfortable and the pillows too soft. If you use a Yelp check-in you can score a free upgrade pending room availability. Upgraded rooms have a fireplace, located in the upper floor, also have a couch, more spacious. The showers are nice, they supply all liquid shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Cheap toilet paper though (very thin). The A/C or Heater is noisy even on low, get the temperature where you want it before sleep or be warned. Parking looks limited but they seem to have enough spots for everybody. Complimentary Breakfast is good for but not great for vegans (one day they had quiche and scrambled eggs), great if you like eggs but sucks if you're vegan; tater tots or hash browns would have been nice. Otherwise pancake batter that was egg free, oatmeal, bagels, toast, honey, peanut butter, juices, tea, coffee, salsa, fruit, etc. two TVs and comfortable seating. If they had a hot vegan breakfast item like a tofu scramble, or tater tots, hash browns, I may have added a star, but sadly not. The grounds have a nice fountain, outdoor seating and the lobby is bright and cheerful. I liked staying here Vs a Fairfield Suite or Holiday Inn. 4/5 stars. I would consider returning but would check on the vegan hot menu items. read more

What a gem in Wine Country. In a place where it seems like there isn't a chain motel/hotel for miles, this one definitely takes the cake. I stayed here for one night, and boy was I impressed from the get go. The lobby was very clean and decorated well, and the front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel, albeit kind of small is decorated wonderfully, it almost looks brand new. There's nice accent fountains and plenty of amenities that one would need. My room was situated right next to the parking lot, which meant I got a lot of foot traffic, but that didn't really bother me too much. The room itself very clean and spacious. The bathroom was the same way, and my shower even had two heads in it. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. The air conditioner worked very well! The free WiFi was well...free hotel WiFi. I got kicked off every 30 minutes or so, but I imagine that was probably because other people were using it. I eventually switched over to my hotspot and dealt with slow but consistent internet. Considering it's free I won't even dock a star for it. I didn't have a chance to try the breakfast bags in the morning since I was already out the door before the lobby had opened. Speaking of which... My only one real concern was that the hotel lobby is closed from 10pm to 8am. They never specified if there was an on-call or on-site hotel rep there during the closure hours. I mean what if there is an emergency in the hotel? Not like a 911 emergency, but something that needs to get addressed like a broken air conditioner or a clogged toilet. Can I call the lobby and it'll go to someone? This would be nice to know if we're on our own after 10pm. I can't imagine this being the case, but yeah, it's still kind of concerning. read more

BEWARE!!! If you are checking in late....Do not call the hotel! The hotel message says " the reception is closed and will reopen at 7am." The customer service folks will tell you the same thing and will offer to rebook you in a BW in Santa Rosa (a bit far from Calistoga). Apparently there is a phone box at the hotel for late check ins. Due to delayed flights we were late getting to Calistoga. I was going to cancel but it was past the cancellation date. When I called in the morning they said they could try and sell the room but I would be charged if they didn't, so I decided to just arrive late. I've stayed here before and it's really nice and super clean. The hotel property and staff are great! The hotel should add the information about after hours check-in to the hotel message AND BW customer service should have a note about this also. Best Western had 3 opportunities to inform me: 1. When I first called the hotel in the morning. 2. On the hotel message you reach when calling after hours. 3. The customer service agent should have know this instead of trying to book me in Santa Rosa (a bit far from Calistoga). And according to BW guest relations " it's on the website where you book." I'm sure it is, but driving to Calistoga at midnight it's very dark and going on the website was not an option, calling hands free to keep my eyes on the road seemed the better option... Let's hope BW adds information about after hours check in to their hotel message and BW customer service gets some notes on this process so they DON'T MISLEAD the customer.... read more

Love this hotel! Perfect for a night or two in Calistoga. Perfect central location, great rooms and super helpful staff. Who doesn't love fresh chocolate chip cookies at check in!? Our Room (King with Fireplace-202) was large, clean and comfy! I dont think any rooms have a "View" but it was a wonderful room and bed was really comfy. They even had a washer and drier when I needed it. Two things to rave about were the pool that's super clean and heated perfectly, and a huge breakfast buffet spread. Make reservations for Sam Social House- it's steps away and has wonderful food! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

This was a great place to stay. We enjoyed our 2 nights here. It's walkable to a lot of the restaurants and shops on Lincoln Ave., and there are complimentary cookies at check-in! We were told the property was recently updated, so the room was clean and so was the rest of the property. The staff was friendly and very helpful. If you want a quick breakfast, they have a nice selection at their complimentary breakfast. Overall, this hotel was clean and comfortable with a friendly staff. This is an overdue review. Our family stayed there last summer and our stay was PERFECT! As everybody said, the staff is extraordinary friendly - in fact, the most friendly we encountered in all the other Calistoga hotels or BBs. They take the guests' Covid safety very seriously. The cleaning protocols are strict and everything is impeccable clean. The beds are great and the walls are thick - so we never heard the neighbors - and slept great. Inexpensive hotel with free breakfast and wifi that is well located a short walk from downtown Calistoga. Nothing really special about this hotel (which is really more of a motel) but it's a good value. The breakfast is your standard continental. The staff I worked with we're not rude but not very nice either. I paid extra for a "mountain view" room with a balcony, however there is a junky building behind the hotel that detracts from the view. Showed the front desk my free upgrade with yelp check-in but they said I had the best room in the motel, now I find out from other reviews that there are rooms with fireplaces, disappointing. The best things about this hotel are the freebies, price and location, but don't pay extra for the mountain view. read more

Loved the location because we could walk everywhere! The staff was extremely helpful, the surroundings and courtyard are beautiful, the breakfast was complimentary and abundant, the room was cozy and spacious, the bed...just say I instantly fell asleep and didn't wake til the morning. Our room was lovely, reasonably priced and located in a nice upscale location. Ample parking. We arrived a bit early, at 3pm, and front desk person charged our credit card & said she'd call us when room was ready. Never received a call. We came back at 4:30 and now a different person is in front. Checked in again and told to take a little walk through an outside corridor with our luggage to look for room. Finally found it after a short walk. Our King room was thankfully roomy, super clean & quiet; little microwave & mini fridge, smelled very fresh & exactly what we were expecting. Whew! We asked for a later check out, but 12pm was the latest we could get; one extra hour. Ok. Breakfast was exceptionally tasty, with delicious hot coffee, lots of fresh breakfast options, and made to order omelettes. Best breakfast we've ever had at this hotel chain, and we've stayed in many! Will stay here again next time we are vacationing in the area. read more

I really love this hotel. I was here two weeks ago on business and absolutely loved it. I even enjoyed staying in a particular room 2 weeks ago and knew I was going to be back because of another project would take me back. So here I am requesting for the same room I stayed in on the 2nd floor and was told by the front desk person I could not have it because I was assigned to a particular room. Then I asked for any room on the second floor because I don't like to hear loud noises of people walking above from the second floor. Then 2 hours later, my co-worker was assigned on the 2nd floor. When she complained of ants in her room, she was moved to the room I wanted to be in. I am not sure how Best Western works with assigning the rooms, but I am disappointed with the customer service. It is not my co-workers fault for being assigned to that room after finding out she had ants in her initial room. I was disappointed with how Best Western handled this when nobody was in the room when I requested for that room. I knew the room was available since I arrived near check-in time. read more

What incredible service!!! My son and his fiancee planned their destination wedding in Calistoga. I ordered bulk flowers for the wedding to be delivered to me at the Best Western Stevenson Manor where I was staying. I arrived at the hotel much later than expected and worried about the flowers. Upon arrival I was told the flowers were awaiting me. When I got to my room the air conditioning was on full blast to keep it cold for the the flowers. What wonderful service!! read more

Calistoga is a great town as a base for exploring Wine Country. But your lodging choices here are mostly very expensive boutique spas. But what if you are on a budget, or have kids, or don't need 24/7 spa access? Well, then there is the Best Western Stevenson Manor. I'm giving it Five Stars because it is hands-down THE BEST VALUE FOR MONEY at this end of the Wine Country. However a good price is only an advantage if it doesn't mean substandard. At the Stevenson, you get scrupulously clean and spacious rooms -- a few with fireplaces -- and lots of amenities that add up to way more than you'd expect for the cost (which is well below $100 a night, especially with the many discounts offered: 2 or 3 night stay discount, AARP, AAA, Military. They even offer a discount for guest who are staying to be near relatives having operations at nearby St. Helena Hospital.) First of all, some of the pictures of the exterior make the place look bigger than it is. Rather than a big impersonal chain hotel, this is a cozy little motel -- only part of which is two story -- built around a charming little enclosed patio. The location is an easy walk to all the restaurants and spas along Calistoga's main drag. Let's go over what I got for my room rate of $89 (return visit discount for a Thursday and Friday night stay): *A large, scrupulously clean room with two double beds with comfortable linens and a lovely bathroom with whirlpool tub. (Some rooms have fire places and several are handicapped accessible.) *Lots of amenities such as free newspapers, Wi-Fi, sink, microwave, refrigerator, wine glasses, coffee service in room and more. *An amazingly good FREE breakfast that included my choice of waffles, yogurt and fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, toast, pastries, fresh juice. *Afternoon complimentary wine tasting with the day's featured wine and cheese. *Extremely friendly, attentive staff -- from the owner/manager who acted as a gracious host to the guy who quickly fixed a minor problem with our TV. This hotel would be especially good for families with children -- especially since kids are not usually welcomed at some of the more boutiquey inns around here. If you were trying to do the area on a budget or with a family, the free breakfasts alone would make it doable. (Load the kids up at breakfast, then stock your in-room fridge with snacks and sandwich fixins from the nearby Cala Market.) It's also a great budget option for exploring Wine Country. Most people flock to overpriced, overcrowded St. Helena. But Calistoga is right at the tip of the two main wine trails through the Valley -- Route 29 and the Silverado Trail. Calistoga also features some nice little museums such as The Sharpsteen Museum and access to mountain hiking, the Petrified Forest and the Old Faithful Geyser. Here are the things to be aware of about the Stephenson: *The hotel has a very nice little heated pool area with pool, hot tub, sauna. Yes, it is small, but almost all of the resorts around here have day passes or free pool access if you book a spa treatment. So use the Stephenson pool most days and book a spa treatment/pool day somewhere else for a splurge. *This is not necessarily a spot for a romantic getaway. While not as noisy as one reviewer claimed, people with children do stay here. As noted in other reviews, there are some rooms that are further removed from common areas. If quiet is important to you, ask for those rooms. So my recommendations? Families with kids or people on a budget, this is your place. AS for me? I don't have kids and I'm not on a budget, but I'm still glad I discovered the Stephenson. I was here twice while my mother had a knee replacement at St. Helena Hospital -- so I wasn't here for a vacation. But I found my experience enjoyable and comfortable. The bonus was, I felt comfortable splurging on a massage and good dinners at some of the town's best restaurants since my stay at the Stephenson was so reasonable. read more

I am very impressed with this hotel. The staff was very pleasant, and let us check in early as soon as the room was ready. The room was made up very well and was super clean. I had one with a fire place and a little kitchenette which was awesome. It was one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in and definitely worth the price. The hotel had a dry sauna and steam room which were very clean. The hot tub was super relaxing and I even took a dip in the heated pool...and the hotel supplies plushy pool towels. Best of all, it is not too far away from the main street in Calistoga, within walking distance. I highly recommend this hotel and will absolutely stay here again if in the area. read more

One of the (if not THE) most affordable option for lodging in Calistoga, but don't expect luxury. You'll get what you expect from a Best Western: clean rooms, reasonable prices (caveat: definitely not worth $250 for a AAA rate during high season, but beats the $400 price tag at other places in Calistoga). Small pool area, no workout room (I find that odd), free continental breakfast (rather cramped and underwhelming), and free wifi (which didn't work well in the rooms). In room fridge and microwave. Overall, still overpriced for what you get, but this is wine country. I've learned that you have to expect to pay out the nose. read more

The hotel is nice, or will be after the construction is completed. They start at 8am and finish @ 6pm. If you are not going to stay in the room, then it won't be an issue.
