I really had a very positive experience at residence Inn Norwalk. We stayed in amazing suite with a balcony with a spectacular view of the area. It's way wonderful to see a beautiful sunset so relaxing. The room was terrific with a nice bedroom, bathroom and kitchen loved it. From check-in to check-out top notch service! Not only was I able to get early check-in but also late check-out. Staff is super friendly, offering what more could they do for me. They went above and beyond when I asked if they could bring in more bar chairs- they went to storage to get two more! I mean WOW! The king suite was spacious and comfy, well stocked and equipped for all needs. Plenty of drawer space and room to move about. Large bathroom with walk-in shower. And being close to the train, you could barely hear it! Well constructed building! Plus, there is a sound machine right next to bed. They thought of everything! Full yummy buffet breakfast rounded out the stay. The plan for the night was to go out with friends, however we were having such a great time we decided to stay in! First, let me say that this was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! The area was NOT SAFE , LOUD MUSIC COMING FROM CARS, DRUNK PEOPLE HANGING OUT ON STREET CORNERS, BAD STAFF WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING, POOR OARKING AND NO WHERE FOR MY DOG TO POTTY. We waited for 15 minutes at least to get checked on while the " New Guy" Kenny dealt with other people there was a girl at the desk who ignored me. The Staff seemed very , Matter Of Fact as if they couldn't be bothered by Complaints since I requested a room with a bathtub and we were put in a room with a tiny bathroom and Huge SHOWER they told me it had a bath tub it Didn't! Our view was of the Noisy train and train tracks which blew my mind for the &1,500 I aid for the room . It was DUSTY , the shower was Dirty and there were at least 4 broken doors and cabinets with No closet! Of course I COMPLAINED and was told there weren't any managers working on a Thursday evening??? We weren't told we had to pay $20/ day for parking and the garage was crowded with no safe way for cars to get up and down at the same time one weekend night the cars were Valet packed in like Sardines! We finally heard from the Manager ( Ashley) the next evening offering to move us upstairs but that they had to charge me for a Sevond room ( still waiting for the first $1,500 to go back into my account! The room was Much Nicer but dirty windows and dusty, the kitchen was large and the bed was Much More Comfortable, the bathroom was large and Clean so I was happy about that. The first night I went to sit on the couch and the Leg Broke ( Im only 133 lbs!) and the guy that came up spoke broken English and didn't know what to do! We had a puppy in the room who almost got HURT and I had Sprained my ankle and was lucky I didn't get hurt when the couch crashed down! The area was just plain TERRIBLE and my husband had to take the dog out because I was Afraid for my safety in the area its in and we tried a few restaurants in the area that were also over priced and very disappointing.. Ashley was also very rude and made excuses for the charges for parking etc The halls were Dirty on the entryways from the garage and I almost triped on one of the Carpets! Was definitely worth spending an evening here. My boyfriend and I didn't get a chance to go to the rooftop, but it was highly recommended. Our room was very spacious and so clean. The only downside was that we booked on a Saturday, which made parking quite a headache because many locals park at the hotel and go to the rooftop, but was taken care of by valet (though we preferred to park ourselves). read more

The bald guy that acts like a manager, had me waiting outside for 15 minutes knocking on the door while looking at me, and he refused to open the door until he felt like it. Once I walked in, I was speaking in spanish to a friend about how the service was bad. The bald guy threatened to kick me out bc I was speaking spanish.... I told him that was that discrimination. He said he didn't care that he understood Spanish and he could do what he wanted .. so you use your power to kick someone out if they're speaking in a different language and speaking the truth but he doesn't like it? that's not how rules or laws work.... this is a freedom of peach country, I was not disrespecting anyone nor was I making a scene. He just didn't like hearing the truth about his actions.Because of him, I'm never coming here and I will tell anyone I know who wants to come, to not come here. This place is discriminating. Service was shoddy at best. Our room had a broken thermostat and so we had to switch to a different one. There were three of us, and when we requested some sort of cot or additional sleeping arrangement (as our room didn't have a pull-out couch like we had through) we were promised it, only for them to call 30 minutes later and say they couldn't do it. In our room, the lights would flicker in the bathroom whenever the water was running, and there was no ice machine on our floor (the only one is on the third floor). If you're looking for a hotel, don't do Marriot Bonvoy. read more

Want to explore all SoNo has to offer? Stay at this hotel. I stayed here about two weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Now, I used to stay at Marriott hotels all over the US frequently, but not so much lately (thanks, COVID). However, being back made me miss traveling even more! The parking is tricky with tight lanes spaces, but it's nice that it's offered. Some reviews say that parking is free, but when I picked up my complimentary breakfast in the morning, the manager made sure I paid the $10 charge before leaving. Now, the breakfast I mentioned is free for everyone, regardless of status, but wasn't anything to write home about. It's your typical buffet-style hotel breakfast. Most importantly, the room was clean, modern, and bright. The room was large and comfortably could have fit a family of four. There is also a sizable kitchen, closet, and bathroom area that could make any traveler feel quickly at home. I had no view to speak of, just a parking lot, but I wasn't there for the view. My room, 507, had a few electrical issues where plugs weren't working. In fact, I ended up having to move the toaster to the night table to heat my bagel. The bed was super comfortable, and I'm glad others on Yelp pointed out that they offer noise machines in every room. My noise machine ran all night, helping to drown out the city noise and constant train. This hotel has a first-floor bar that was open, but I didn't see anyone there (COVID). It also has a rooftop bar, but since it had significantly snowed the day before, I didn't even attempt to go up there. Once you arrive, there is no need for a car since there are possibly 30 good restaurants and things to do within a simple and safe 10-minute stroll. If you're looking for a decent view in the Fairfield county area, definitely stop by and grab drinks at the Residence Inn's rooftop. We stopped by on a Sunday and all the tables were taken except seats at the bar. The space isn't really big but it's a decent size. We didn't end up staying because they didn't have French fries on the menu and that's what I really wanted. read more

We stayed here for 5 nights over the NYE holiday and brought our two dogs with us. This is by far the best dog-friendly hotel we've stayed at! All of the staff knew our dogs' names by the end of our stay. They also offered treats after our walks! The rooms were spacious and the kitchenette was very helpful when staying more than a night or two. The hotel is close to the train tracks, which can be noisy, but there was white noise machine next to the bed, which were a LIFE SAVER! My one complaint is that there was no designated dog-potty area with the hotel - we had to walk down the block to the police station which was the closest grassy area. Besides that, the service was great, staff was more than accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend (with or without dogs) and will be staying again during future visits. read more

Nice hotel with upgraded amenities in the heart of SoNo. I had originally booked to stay elsewhere, but I moved to stay closer to my sister's apartment. The people at the front desk were very accommodating. Breakfast could be better, but it is included, so I shouldn't make complaints. It's easy enough to eat elsewhere. Do not stay here unless you sleep well with loud thumping techno playing late into the night. I spent almost $300 for 1 night and can't sleep due to the hotel thinking a nightclub on the roof is more important than their guests. At 845pm I asked a waitress at the rooftop bar what time the music stopped and she replied "9pm". Ok, cool. At 930pm I Went to the front desk and was told the DJ was stopping now. It's now 10pm.and the music is still so loud I can't sleep. I plan on asking for a full refund in the morning because I've never been lied to by service staff in any hotel, I've never been kept awake by the hotel I paid a large amount of money to to sleep in and I am disgusted at the management for their disregard of the clientele that enables their business to thrive. read more

I had an issue with checking out and checking back into the same room. Housekeeping cleaned out the room as if I was a new guest and got rid of the stuff I left there as I left the room for a bit. Luckily it wasn't much.. but the way Justin at the front desk handled the situation and replacing the items I lost was unmatched customer service. He hand delivered me a new tooth brush and bottle of wine i lost. The way the unfortunate situation was handled was incredible. Service like this needs to be recognized. read more

Recently opened and with many small fix ups and touch ups to be completed: - Roof panel in corridor fell about 15 feet away from me. Later on that day; repair man was working on it. - A/C in room didnt work properly: set @64 degrees when I checked in, unit showed 72 and fan worked on and off. Not sure what the actual temp was, but it was neither 64 nor 72. - Inside door didn't properly latch closed. - Large window could have used a curtain or some other way to block the sun/outside. Service was very good and the rooms are spacious. Parking is a head scratcher; as there was a valet there, but he just told us to park in the garage. Spaces are small and navigating the garage is a challenge with tight turns and tight spots. Breakfast was decent, even though the area is a bit cramped. Plenty of dining options within walking distance. I would stay here again and actually tried booking it again this week; but no rooms were available. read more

You will hear the noise coming from the corridor, the room next to you and even the room upstairs. 2. Staff at the front desk have communication issue. We encountered one staff gave us confirmation on room service time and gym appointment but another staff informed us next day that either they did not have record on our appointment or the appointment time had to be changed. 3. Hotel manager, Melissa is not professional and lack of capability to handle conflict. Absolutely horrendous experience. My friend who has a disability (CP) asked to leave his wheelchair in the lobby for 2hrs because my apartment (directly across street) has 2 stairs. They said no! We stopped by after dinner to go to the rooftop bar. The first thing that hits you when you enter is the overwhelming sewer odor in the lobby and in the elevator and on every floor. Wow it stinks. The other weird thing is you need a card to swipe once inside the elevator to get to your floor but if you're going to the rooftop bar you don't. It seemed strange. It was a cool evening and you would have thought they could have unwrapped the outdoor heaters and actually used them. Every body was talking about the terrible odor. The room was spacious, had everything we could need, and still feels brand new. The staff was lovely, especially the woman who's name started with M who was working the front desk on the evening of August 1st. We felt safe with the Covid situation, they were aware of distancing and you could order your free breakfast the night before and pick it up in a to-go bag in the morning. Awesome on every level. Wanted to get away just for a night on Valentines Day. Location was perfect for walking to local bars, restaurants and night life. It was freezing out, so Saturday morning after the breakfast (which was ok, but typical for continental breakfast, and not the reason I was staying), we played pool on the 2nd floor. THIS PLACE IS GREAT. so clean. So modern. "Studio king" The shower was very hot and relaxing. Leather couch. SOFT CLOSE CABINETS in the kitchen. Full sized fridge and a stove top. Dishwasher. My husband, pets and I were recently temporarily relocated to the Residence Inn Norwalk for repairs after a fire. I have nothing but the nicest things to say about the entire staff of this establishment. Everyone was so kind and helpful. If you must be away from home during a pandemic, I would highly recommend the Marriot Residence Inn Norwalk! I wish I remembered everyone's names, the morning and night staff at the front desk were always so pleasant. A special thank you goes to Michelle, Director of Sales. One day when checking in for our stay (due to insurance issues we had to check out each weekend) the card on file for the temporary housing company was showing as declined in their system. Michelle took it upon herself to call the company repeatedly until she was finally able to get a hold of someone. I can't put into words how much this meant to me. In this scary time, it felt amazing having someone on our team. Though we live locally, I hope to go back to visit once all this mayhem subsides. Once leisure travel is permitted, I will highly recommend the Residence Inn Norwalk to all my friends and family. read more

Hotel accommodations were nicely updated. However the Room was loud- ac, water noise (shower, toilet) from surrounding rooms. My biggest complaint was no shampoo in room- but I did have 2 conditioners! Despite me leaving a note for housekeeping- I still had to request a second time for shampoo. Breakfast was decent. I visited this property on dec 11-13 this is not only my favorite Marriott property out of any Marriott property is it in the area I grew up in. However the manager called the police on me for being exposed to COVID 19 and asked me to leave at 5 am on a Sunday. This exposure had happened prior which was not in my control and after this property not providing travelers forms not offering masks or having them in stock at all for sale they've completely gone overboard. I followed all reporting procedures in the state of connecticut reporting date of entrance and exit to then and then the same in New York State. They don't even follow Marriotts own policy. However this property has a lot of potential if they only saw it themselves . I will continue to rate them 5 stars and always will rate them 5 stars because I believe their the next biggest Marriott property to get big in that area ! Step your game up!
