The money isn't the issue but the utter lack of follow through and responsiveness was appalling.

We suspected bacterial…read moreear infection and I was on day 4 of prescribed augmenten from an MD I saw through telemedicine. I came to this UC because pain was getting worse and ear was draining while I was visiting family in the area and I wanted someone to visually see it in case it wasn't bacterial. My first mistake was picking this establishment without reading the reviews. Staff was professional enough but rushed and appeared understaffed. The male medical assistant became oddly snarky after I revealed I work in dermatology, which was quite awkward. The NP I saw later looked at my ear for maybe five seconds and said there was no evidence of a bacterial infection and I should stop the antibiotics. They said the MD I saw virtually was likely wrong about it being bacterial since they didn't see me in-person. After peeking at my nose and noticing it was draining (I have allergies in Central Oregon) they said all my pain must be due to congestion and to do anti-congestive meds OTC. Sounds reasonable enough. I have a lot of faith in medicinal professionals, so I tried their treatment for the next 24-48 hours. Unfortunately I ended up needing to be driven to the ER a couple days later because the pain in my ear went from painful to agony and it was draining even more pus with some blood. Long story short I needed to be admitted for mastoiditis (seen on CT scan) and had to go on multiple antibiotics and steroids. ER naturally did a culture of the external ear canal too, which grew out a heavy growth of pseudomonas aeruginosa (aka bacteria). My eardrum ended up rupturing from the infection which was extremely painful and may have damaged my hearing (although I haven't seen ENT yet to confirm). Overall, I'm very disappointed with the care I received here. I'd like to assume they were doing their best and I know misdiagnoses happen to even the best of providers. But I can't help but feel that if I had seen someone less rushed, more empathetic, and better trained I would have gotten what the original provider I saw thought was an infection confirmed and received earlier treatment. Maybe then I could have avoided an expensive ER visit and weeks of pain. But who knows. The $300 out-of-pocket cost for a 5 minute visit here just rubbed salt in the wound considering their "care" actually caused me a delay in treatment and caused me great amount of pain in the end. I would avoid this establishment if at all possible.

My wife missed a step and broke her wrist while visiting family in Bend. We went to BestMed Urgent…read moreCare and we're seen promptly. The staff examined my wife's wrist, x-rayed her wrist and put on a fiberglass splint. We were told that the injury was a crack in there binder ends with no displacement. BestMed told us that they were sending a referral to an orthopedic practice nearby to have the splint replaced with a platter cast. BestMed did not give us a CD with the x-rays. The splint was too long and hurt her elbow. They never explained why her elbow had to bed immobilized for a wrist injury. The orthopedic practice never received the referral. I called back and they promised to send it again. It was still not received the next day. We were told to go to another orthopedic practice. They too had not received a referral. We were given a walk-in appointment and had more x-rays taken which showed a bone fragment that either needed to be surgically set or allowed to heal with a consequent loss of wrist mobility. Not ideal for ones dominant hand. She was given a short cast and scheduled for surgery. BestMed did not provide a correct diagnosis, a correct prognosis, an appropriate cast or a CD with the x-rays. In addition, BestMed is the one urgent care center in Bend that cannot send x-rays electronically to other practices. You can find better urgent care practices. Do a bit more research than I did!

My PA was caring , efficient and polite. She explained treatment options and called a specialist on the spot to consult. She even got me an appointment with them the same day. They were worried because I am leaving for a trip later in the evening and they didn't want me to have something come up while I am gone. I visited with a nurse that gave me an antibiotic injection who was also polite and caring. They were extra conscientious of my safety ensuring I had no drug allergies multiple times. The antibiotic injection even had lidocaine (a numbing agent) mixed in so I hardly felt a thing!! I was very happy with my experience. Thank you for taking good care of me so I can keep caring for my patients :) healthcare is a tough job and I felt very well taken care of.
