Like every other review on this site, I was connected with BestWay Mechanical through American Home Shield. Both companies use a horrible business model and give lousy service! This is my 16th day without AC and am no further along than I was day one! The mechanic from BestWay did not even turn in a diagnosis for a week after checking my ac unit. This has dragged on and on. And because all the work is subbed out, no one is in charge. All BestWay does is act as yellow pages. I would not use them ever! read more

READ, it's long but please RUN from this company! Read some other reviews (linked below), this isn't a one time incident. American Home Shield contracted out to this company. My AC unit needed an evaporator coil replaced and refrigerant needed to be toped off. I was told my out of pocket cost would be $1,530!!! BestWay Mechanical claimed I had 6 things that were out of code. My house is 3 years old and my AC unit was just serviced a couple months ago and everything was perfect. Wes Robinson, the district manager, told me the builder of my home is probably on good terms with the inspector that is why it passed inspection and the company that serviced the unit most likely didn't do it correctly So I called Veterans Heating & Air who came out and NOTHING is out of code, complete lie. BestWay Mechanical was going to charge me $670 for 10 pounds of refrigerant, my unit only holds 6 and it's not even completely empty. The coil itself is covered under a manufactures warranty. They were charging me $350 for mastic sealant, google it, it's about $14 at Lowe's. I could go on and on! I showed the BestWay invoice to the other company and they couldn't believe how much they were trying to charge me for stuff that didn't even need to be done. I called several other AC companies and they all said the same thing, several told me BestWay is know for scamming people. Also, Veterans Heating & Air is charging us less than half the price...and that's not even going through AHS! Veterans heating & air actually refuses to work with AHS because they are so dishonest. So this is what happens... AHS hires the cheapest company, regardless of integrity. BestWay Mechanical compensates the low price they give AHS by charging the client with unnecessary "modifications/code upgrades" that AHS won't cover. BestWay Mechanical refuses to do any work without these "modifications/code upgrades" being paid for. And of course AHS keeps shoveling clients on them because it's cheap. Why not?! What a perfect scam. UPDATE: Just spoke with Wes Robinson to cancel my appointment for today and he said "well I guess we're done talking, I have air conditioning" and hung up on me. Couldn't explain the bogus charges or anything, he literally just bragged about his AC working and mine not. AHS sent this company to repair our a/c unit the first time Mark Allen and JF came out they was in a hurry said we needed freon. Not even a week the same problem. Same technicians came out said we needed a coil and alot of extras said we needed 10 pounds of freon when the unit only holds 6 pounds told us it would be $1500.00. Called several times left messages.AHS called and left messages they never called back it has been 90 degrees here in Georgia so we called someone else out to check we did need a coil but all the extras was not true. This company is full of it. They are not honest, they are unreliable. Want to note the first time AHS call them to come out they came but they had a plan to RIP us off. read more

Ac unit went out Weds call AHS an they sent this company out Friday. The guy came in looked at the outside unit told me it was fine didnt need freon. Okay great so why no cold air? He still looked confused finally after walking back outside to look at the same piece looks at the unit part inside. Sees some dust and bingo Oh you need a new filter. Okay sure however we changed it two months ago and it blows cold for a few hrs the blows hot. He states again well it's not doing it now you just need a filter. I ask if it happens after I go get the filter will you be back today sure he says. Now new filter and we called all afternoon once it which back out no answer. Our commode was rocking but not leaking so we had Bestway to reinstall the commode. Cost $275, and it was stable but started leaking after 4 months-something it had never done before. The receptionist said it wasn't their fault even though they had replaced everything, and it would cost another $150 just for them to come and look at it. Appointment was scheduled last Tuesday between hours of 8-12 and haven't heard from company. Its is now 12:02. Arrived at 12:30pm. Diagnosis: needs freon again 207.03 for 3qts. We should not need freon every year. If there is a leak it should have been fixed already. He stated he will add a sealer. He left house and unit is still doing the same thing so that fix didn't work. Now BestwayMechanical Inc is saying they cant come back till Thursday when the guy just left our home. Calling AHS for possible new company that can come out and really diagnose the issue. Thursday: scheduled to come out today between 12-4 its 4:30 no word from company. Arrived 7:30 (4hrs late) like no big deal but people take off based on time slot provided. Diagnosis:Freon not cycling through this is so disappointing waited from 12-7:30 for a 15 min diagnosis that could have been handled on day1 if this will solve the problem he didn't check to see if something else could be going on. Had my neighbor come over because my husband was away since it was so late. Neighbor stated He stayed on his phone taking care of personal business trying to get insurance for his self. Hello, I checked into portable unit all available locally portable units (window units not allowed) for purchase and take home are 300 and up. the cheapest I could find was 250 at Home Depot but it has to be shipped and wont arrive till 9 August or later. But still checking especially if its not fixed today. Technician is due to arrive today Monday 12-4 to replace part hopefully this time he wont be 3hours late (7:30 arrival time last week). Called Bestway to see if technician is still on track to make it to my home between 12-4 (it is now 2pm) she stated yes but didn't contact technician to see if he would be. I will call AHS customer support to see if they can get a better assurance on arrival time if he doesn't show in the next hour. Called Bestway Mechanical again at 3:30 they said technician is in Hephzibah GA (definitely 30 to 40 min away from my home) based on his GPS and he has two appointments from 12-4 and he has not left Hephzibah location and they cant call him because he's a new technician and they don't have a phone number for him. They said he should be leaving other location because he's been there an hour already but they cant say that for sure when he will finish. How does a company not have their employees phone number what kind of business are they running. Called AHS and they told AHS they are finishing the job and will be enroute . The same thing they said Friday when they were 3hrs late. Bestway Mechanical Inc should be on AHS do not use list. AHS customers should not have to go through this. This is the second time. Their third time at my house. Bestway Mechanical Inc should definitely be on the do not use list for all your customers. I tried to change companies when I seen the F rating on BBB to avoid this type of terrible service but AHS customer support wouldn't change it. 12-4 appt arrived at 7:30 on Friday now Monday 12-4 appointment and its 4pm now and no arrival. They have no consideration for other people time. People work just like they do and have to take off work to meet the 12-4 timeline and they arrive late. Time and money lost by the customer and they don't care. Now its 4:30 still no technician. Stay away. If your warranty company tries to send them fight harder to change. I was set up with BestWay through American Home Shield. It took 5 days for them to get to me, that I understand, it's a busy season for A/C repair. The technician who came, Shawn, was great. He arrived on time and had our HVAC running in less than 30 minutes. It didn't cost me anymore than the $100 American Home Shield took when I reported a problem. Like a lot of the previous reviews, I was frustrated with trying to contact BestWay by phone. I was on hold for 40 minutes before I actually spoke to someone and the number I was given by my home warranty people wasn't even the correct number. Absolutely the worst! No customer service skills and came and did a "repair" but clearly did nothing since the AC unit was not working again after 3 days. They called my warranty company and cancelled the follow up appointment after refusing to call me back. I've requested they never be assigned to me again. read more

I was without AC for 3 weeks waiting for BW to do their job. I wish I had read the reviews here before I picked this contractor for my warranty repair through American Home Shield. BestWay has very high ratings on the AHS site - after my horrific experience, I'm unclear how that's possible. After 30+ calls, I can safely say they're impossible to reach. Buyer beware! Was working with this company through AHS, and initially they were better than the other company that came out and used all the wrong Parts on our air conditioner. However, Chris and this company turned out to be extremely dishonest and unreliable we have been weeks without a repair and no communication! After a ton of calls and text messages to try to find out what was going on over a period of several days we just found out this morning by having someone else call, that they just don't service our area anymore even though they had told us they had the parts for the repair. They were not going to even tell us that they weren't going to come back out, rude, dishonest, and poor workmanship. Unbelievable, terrible customer service to not use at any cost!!! read more

Bestway call me to reschedule 2 times this was before I took a whole day off of work on the day they was supposed to come out to only be reschedule a 3rd time. They kept trying to get me a morning appointment which wouldn't work because I work in the mornings and then the next available appointment they had was 4 days out. The following is the customer service review I gave directly to the company after completing our service. Be advised I would never pay to use this company. Your office told my leasing agent that you called me, and never did. When I called I was told you were waiting on my to call to schedule the work order. Your technician told me he would put in the part order and should be able to make it out the following day or Friday at the latest. I was told your office would call me. After waiting nearly a day I was told it was the technicians fault. I then was told you would call to confirm an appt in addition to scheduling online. I recieved a text but no call, and had my leasing agent call to schedule the appointment. My family went a week and a half without AC during one of the hottest weeks of the year. This was caused in large part by either laziness or incompetence of your office/scheduling staff. Your Technicians were professionals and fixed the problem in less than an hour total so props to them. Not only am i dissatisfied with your customer service but my leasing agent (Butch, with Veterans Realty) said I could include them in this negative review as he had numerous bad experiences with the company. Additionally, I will be given a negative review on Yelp as well as submitting a complaint with the better business bureau. I highly advise you do some in house correction of these issues or I could easily forsee loss of contracts with companies like American Home Shield. read more

We received regular updates on his arrival, he arrived and got right down to business. He found the problem and fixed it within an hour. Very friendly and professional! From LaGrange, Ga. American Home Shield sent these guys out for the usual fee of $75. Diagnosis: Whole house clog, no clean out, gotta go on the roof, not covered, $475 dollars please. American Home Shield sent Bestway Mechanical to my home to repair a sump pump in my basement. Technician Todd falsified the records and stated that baby wipes clogged the pumps. I am almost 69 years old and my baby is 44 years old. I have 4 bathrooms upstairs and 1 downstairs and there are no babies or baby wipes in my entire house. When I told him, I didn't use baby wipes, only charmin and members mark tissue, he stated maybe the previous owners did it. There are no previous owners, I built this house in 2002. I just read other reviews about this company and they are saying the same thing. This company is a fraud. Now, I have to schedule a second visit. Very dissatisfied customer! read more

Very rude dispatcher! AHS sent them out to repair my toilet. They sent the same technician out twice and the toilet is still not repaired. They initially came out Friday, issue was not fixed, they made an appointment to come back Saturday, they didn't even show up. I called back Monday they promised to come today between 1 and 5pm, they showed up after 5. Meanwhile the dispatcher felt it was necessary to tell me they don't get paid for recalls so you have to answer the phone when they call to advice they in route otherwise they wont come. Dispatcher also claimed they came and no one answered the door....NOT.. add lack of integrity to the list also. read more

After the scheduling of my appointment was botched and the technician was 25 minutes late for the 4-hour (8am-12pm) window provided, the owner (yes, the owner!) chewed me out on the phone and said that I was "up his rear end" and "up his butt" for being impatient. I am a paying customer who just wanted the furnace in my home repaired so I could get back to the office. Horrible company. AHS - sent these folks out to repair our A/C; however, they have been to our home over 3 times and the issue has not been resolved. They charged us $1300 of up front costs for services not covered under AHS. However, they did not fix the issue. We can not get anyone on the phone at BestWay to speak with us. They also won't call us back. I am disputing the charges on my credit card and reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

I have AMS, i called them for a plumbing issue i was having at my home. AMS connected me with Bestway mechanical. That was the worse thing they could have done to me. They came right out and found the issue at cost of $2500. I was so ready, I did not seek out anyone else. So I paid to have them do the job. Two days after the job was done, I replaced the entire front yard with new sod, after they damaged the yard with tractor. I did expect this so no issues there. Now the problem after i replaced the sod the ground dropped about 3 ft. I called Bestway and explained and i was told that was to be expected, maybe to them, but I Dam show did not know that. I CALLED THEM AND THEY TRYED TO TELL ME THAT WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO!. Well i raised a little hell and they came back out. Yeah they came out and look at the ground and stated some dirty need to be added. They refuse to correct the issue the created. I have call them 5 times and they refused to answer my called. I have spoken with AMS about this twice and they have emailed them and spoken with them and they stated they were going to call me. Never did. I JUST WANT TO SAY, IF YOU NEED A PLUMBER DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE FULL OF SHIT AND THE CUSTOMER IS NOT IMPORTANT. I will be filing a BBB claim. Do not use this company! Bestway Mechanical sucks. Unfortunately, I had no choice because American Home Shield assigned them to my house. They came out on 5/30 to fix the upstairs AC unit-I replaced the filter at that time. On 6/27 the same unit froze up and stopped working. I called warranty and they re-assigned Bestway again. Bestway asked me what days and times work for me- they do not work on weekends (who does that?) So I chose Friday of course and they did not assign someone to me until 7/2. That is five and a half days with NO AC and the weather in the high 90's. I called them on Friday to talk to a manager. First of all, I was on hold for 25 min before they even answered my call for the first time. There was no manager on duty, no one in charge. I asked them to please make an exception and have someone come out over the weekend since they were already out and fixed and got paid for the problem... I suggested, have someone work overtime, have someone that is off come into work, have someone work over the weekend or please put us up in a hotel. NOTHING. You would think they would bend over backwards to try to fix my problem but no, nothing. Not even an apology. When they finally came back out today, five+ days with no AC the tech said the reason it froze up is because the filter is dirty. I JUST put a new one in on 5/30. So basically the tech did nothing. Avoid this company as if it was the plague. Based on other consumers' reviews, it seems like this is company is crooked and unprofessional. HSA warranty deployed a technician from this company on Nov 17. The technician claimed that he would submit a claim to the HSA Warranty of his diagnosis. I followed up on Nov 19 in regards to the status. BestWay Mechnical told me that they had filed the claim and that they were waiting to hear back from the HSA warranty. It is now Nov 26 and I have yet to receive a response or status update from either company. I called this company and no one picked up. I was unable to leave a voicemail as it was full. Frustrated, I contacted HSA warranty and was advised that no claim was filed by this company. It is infuriating that that I have a major home repair issue and neither side is accepting responsibility for the delay. Additionally, based on other consumer reviews, in the event the claim is denied, I will be auditing the claim submitted to see if the denial was done in good faith or if BestWay Mechanical submitted fraudulent claims to intentionally have the claim be denied. I am deeply concerned of collusion due to the fact that HSA warranty is continuously and voluntarily contracting with BestWay Mechanical even though there are numerous complaints. read more

Got them assigned to my heat pump issues from AHS. Tech comes out, determines compressor is broken. Tells me he will file paperwork with AHS and get it replaced in a couple of days. 15 days later issues still was unresolved. Had to call AHS to find out status, since company is almost impossible to reach. AHS told me that they where informed that the unit only makes a noise and it is not defective. I cannot in good faith recommend this kind of service to anyone. read more

I thought I would add balance to the other reviews. Our furnace stopped working and AHS used this group to fix it. They were prompt and courteous and fixed the problem without any issue (other than they had to order a part (circuit board)). They actually were able to stop by the next day and install it. Now, I have had my fair share of AHS challenges over the years, but I am very satisfied with Bestway. read more
