Following up on my review from two months ago, we returned from vacation to our sump pump flooding yet again, this time due to a burnt out motor. After the same mechanic was sent back out, I asked if the crooked install would have any impact at all and he said, "a crooked valve wouldn't affect the motor" but if you ask anyone else they say it absolutely does. Additionally he said the motor sounded bad the previous visit, but because it "still pumped water through" he ignored it. Left with his friend not being able to do anything except suggest we find our warranty and they'd come back for the install, HOWEVER for a company that was initially called as a SECOND OPINION no work whatsoever immediately needed & now two months later having to deal with more issues every time they leave is tiresome and frustrating. Not to mention this is the first company I've seen come work in these conditions with no shoe-booties, gloves, and dealing with sewage water carrying old dripping parts through the house until I provided him a bag. Then wants to shake hands after working in the contaminated waters, I understand practice makes progress but not at the expense of others day to day lives. read more

Old Dusty wanted to pull up my toilet and I politely asked him to back out of my driveway so I can go to home depot and you guessed it, rented snake machine and 10 minutes into it, cleared my clog, problem solved. Cost 110.00. Give me a break. 1 thing for sure, he had the right name, DUSTY. Look like he hadn't had a bath in a while and appearance was dusty for sure. Worst The guy gave me false inflated estimate for simple work just replacing flange & refixing & rewaxing the unstable commode that was causing water leakingin my basement [ i told if flange not covered by AH i can buy it - please do the job ] refused rather He gave me 800 dollars estimate & In addition of my American home shield coverage . This company is horrible. Stay away at all costs! If AHS assigns them to your request, ask for a reassignment. From the plumber, Scott, to the office staff -particularly Wendy- are unprofessional, lazy, uninformed and uncaring. I waited over two months for repairs only to find out they never submitted the authorization request to AHS. When I inquired with AHS, they sent the same company back to my home again as Bestway "lost" the previous estimate with photos and notes. Scott promised to get the estimate updated and sent into AHS and assured me the work was covered. Two days later, I received an email from AHS stating Scott told them the issues at my home we NOT normal wear and tear. Stay away from this company. I went back and forth with AHS and Bestway for nearly two weeks before escalating to AHS leadership. As a contractor for American Home Shield they came out to repair my drywall from a plumbing job that they did. Apparently all they have to do is patch the wall and are not required to do it well. The agent said they are not required to do a professional job just patch the whole. In my first home AHS sent a plumber then someone to do the drywall and they did an awesome job. They used mud tape (none was used on my wall), they leveled it and sanded it then cleaned up after themselves. These guys left the mess for me to clean. read more

Dusty was extremely professional and quick from start to finish. I was assigned this business via my American Home Shield warranty. I immediately received a text confirmation for my appointment. On the service day, Dusty both texted and called me to provide an ETA. He arrived on time, assessed the problem, explained the service, and completed the service within 10-minutes. I appreciated Dusty respecting my home by wearing shoe covers. He also addressed me as Ms. Last Name- which was respectful. Dusty provided my receipt and was on his way to the next appointment. They also padded the invoice with items that would be out of pocket for me in the amount of $850. AHS supplies a replacement water heater and pays them to install it. The $850 was additional. They list them as "modifications". My only fault is with Bestway Mechanical and I am suggesting the American Home Shield stop using them. read more

If I could give them zero stars, I would. Had a service call through HSA for my kitchen faucet which ended up needed replacing. They ordered a cheap knock off faucet to replace the original Price Pfister faucet that was installed when the house was built. When we questioned the brand of the faucet, Dustin's response was, "Well, are the rest of your faucets in the house Price Pfister?" - after we showed him that they were he had nothing to say. The next part of this wonderful experience was after getting over the cheap knock off, Dustin decides to tell me that our service lines are incompatible with this faucet, and that he needs to replace them to the tune of $300. After asking to speak with a manager, he refused to call the office and instead had us call - of course "the manager isn't available" We advised them to go and order a faucet that did not require the modifications that he wanted to do - Dustin took the faucet and said someone would get back in touch with us. After waiting three weeks, I called the office to follow up, and nothing had been done, and I was told to go back to HSA for a second opinion or to "cash out" my warranty service. Since this fiasco, I have found a suitable replacement faucet, and purchased 2 simple converters that cost $7 each to install the faucet. Not a single drip, not a single issue with the sink since. I was forced to rent out a space for my father's repast because of the lack of a usable sink in my home. The poor customer service and the crappy attempt to get more money out of me for a warranty repair is more than enough for me to never need to ever speak to this company or have their technicians on my property ever again. I realize that a lot of people put out bad reviews because they are angry - I sat on this for several days and gave Bestway every opportunity to make this right and to make sure I wasn't overreacting. Bestway Mechanical is absolutely the worst plumbing company I've ever had to deal with and you need to think more than twice about letting them do work in your home - especially if it is a warranty referral from AHS or HAS as they are all but guaranteed to try to milk you for more money than the service fee you have already paid. read more

This company was assigned to my claim by American home shield. Todd told my husband that he needed a special tool to clear the drain on the roof. He was going to turn in his estimate to ahs and get it taken care of quickly. Ahs denied the claim and said that Todd says no water is flowing through the house which is a lie. Only the kitchen sink is backed up. I called ahs and spoke to Diana at 2:00 a.m. when i read the denial email and she advised me that we would need to pay an additional $500 to get it repaired. Ahs is a freaking ripoff. If i have to come out of pocket for $625 why would I waste $1098 a year for thos terrible service. Oh and after i read the reviews i called ahs and ask them to send a different company out and they said besyway was one of their premier contractors now i know it's because thay screwing people out of their money together. ZERO stars. We have been with AHS for 2 years and the plumbing vendor they sent out for a service call was "Bestway Mechanical". Bestway Mechanical has snakes in their garden. Technician "Scott" is one of them. We called for service in October of 2024 for water backing up into our tubs, kitchen sink leaking, master bath faucet leaking and slow drain in hallway bathroom sink. Scott and Christian came out to assess/fix the issues so we thought. The reason for the water backing up into our tubs was due to a mainline blockage. Scott snaked the main line 60 feet and said that he is unable to clear the line and that the line must have collapsed or is broken, he gave us an invoice for $6,500 to repair the main line as it is not covered under AHS. We spoke to the plumber who put in our main line and was told that the main line could not be collapsed or broken because there is no sinkhole and water standing in our yard. We had to wait a few days before our original plumber could come out to us but when he did he snaked the line and unclogged it with no problem saving us from an unneeded repair/ 6,500 bill. Christian with Bestway was able to fix the kitchen sink leak. Scott then moved into our master bathroom and said that the hot water valve needs to be replace and he replaced it however it was still leaking, Scott said that it takes time for the water to stop leaking from the shower. Those items were the only items looked at that day. I had to call AHS again for them to come back out because the master bath faucet is still leaking and leaking worse and to address the hallway bath as Bestway seemed to be in a rush the first time. Bestway came out the second time to assess/fix the leaking in the master bathroom and the slow drain in the hallway bath. This time Bestway sent out Christian and he replaced the same valve in the master which did not fix the issue and said that the issue must be behind the wall, this would cost us $550 out of pocket and not only that AHS will not cover the tile/drywall repair from the plumber opening up the walls to access the valves. Christian snaked the hallway bath but could not clear what is causing the slow drain, he said they would also have to go behind the wall in the hall bath as well. We stopped there as we needed to think about the costs for repair out of pocket. We decided to pause on the slow drain issue and focus back on the master faucet still leaking. We called AHS again for them to come back out because they have replaced the hot valve twice all to learn that the technicians were actually working on the cold water valve instead of hot. Bestway sent Scott out and he took the old hot water valve out and replaced the "washer" only but put the old valve stem back in. This seemed to stop the leaking. Two days later the leaking starts again even worse. Scott rigged it and thought that was ok. We were so disappointed that a company could have so much dishonesty and people working there that want to rip hard working people off. My husband went to home depot and bought a replacement valve stem and replaced the hot water valve. When my husband took out the old valve that Scott rigged up, that valve stem and washer was split and damaged. Bestway Mechanical needs to be out of business. We will tell anyone NOT to use Bestway Mechanical. P.S. I have more details to share but this review is long enough. read more

Best way with dispatch to my house by way of American home shield.They tried to up charge me for items that were definitely covered under my American home shield contract. To make matters worse, they reported a completely different issue to American home shield; therefore, American home shield denied my claim to be repaired. I requested a second opinion and a company named His and Hers plumbing was dispatched. They came out and did an amazing job, confirming that the issue was definitely covered and should have been fixed the very first time best way came to my home. Assigned by HSA. Initially I had a lot of trouble with them. The plumber was unable to show up on time, the 1st 2 appointments were a waste of time as they sent different plumbers who both claimed to not have the right parts. The 3rd visit was the same plumber as visit 2 and he botched a very simple job. After many fruitless calls to the HSA Philippine call center a real estate agent gave me information about a local HSA rep (who knew those existed). The local HSA rep (American) elevated my issue and another American HSA supervisor got involved. They worked with BestWay and both their master plumber and one of the owners of the company came to my home to see what they could do to make things right. As it turned out, the job was definitely botched but it was not difficult to remedy. The owner was very apologetic and struck me as a high quality human. It took him about an hour to repair my problem which is what I'd really have expected on the 1st visit. I'm adding 2 stars because the company wanted to make things right but I can't rate them any higher due to the 3 previous visits which wasted a LOT of mine and my wife's time and caused a lot of stress and anger. read more

Anthony came to assist with a simple service request (tub not draining in primary bathroom, hot and cold water reverse in second bathroom) After arriving 2 hours late and being VERY rude, he proceeded to cut into my ceiling to check the second bathroom. After (barely) 'checking' he said that he could not fix the problem that day, but could return privately (outside of the AHS policy) for $600. He then 'checked' the draining issue, and stated that he couldn't fix that either as I needed to cut into the walls to replace ALL of my plumbing pipes, and he was unauthorized to cut. Interesting - as he had just CUT INTO MY CEILING. He was in an obvious rush to his next call and spoke to myself and my partner in a terrible manner. I paid a service for absolutely no work, poor treatment, a hole in my ceiling AND was pitched a $600 repair outside of my contract. I have been with AHS for the past eight years and I am disappointed with my last service call. I noticed my water bill was increasing and I wasn't able to locate where the leak was coming from, Therefore, I opened up a service call and BestWay Mechanical Inc. came out to service. Anthony or Antonio came out and was able to isolate the leak. We both were in the bathroom and he showed me that the leak was coming from inside the toilet valve kit. It's an old toilet (over 13 years old) and obvious that the part warped. He allowed me to touch the valve of the base on the part. He told me that it wasn't covered, bc AHS doesn't cover sort of things. I said "Well hmm, that isn't accurate because it is a covered benefit. He stated that he would reach out to them to confirm, and then left. I did not hear any type of response so I called AHS, was confirmed that it was a covered benefit, yet they were told that the service call was denied bc the technician advised them that the leak was caused by the user's force. I was like "WHAT" to basically sum everything up, I am so disappointed that AHS relies solely on the technician's word - Where is common sense? Who goes inside their toilet to purposely break a valve to create over a $200 water bill to then also pay a service fee - Please make it make sense... WOW and after looking at other reviews, and noticing that people are complaining about the same. I am disappointed that AHS is still using them. I want my service fee returned. I have AHS and called to fix my Hot Water Heater and they sent BestWay Mechanical, Inc. They did replace my hot water heater, the issue is they damaged our basement flooring by dragging the old hot water heater across the floor, they damaged our stairs, and when they reached the top level they dragged the hot water heater across our hardwood floors leaving scratches and dents. They also damaged sheetrock where the piping for the Hot Water heater went. I have called and emailed Wendy at their office. No response. Please be warned. Do not use them. read more

My home insurance company used this company to come out to my house to inspect my sink and faucet because it just stopped functioning out of the blue. Their technician Anthony came out and I started to explain to him what was going on and before I even got to the real issue, he started telling me it's not covered and it's not broken from normal wear and tear. My young daughter who isn't even a 100 pounds soaking wet was the last person to use the sink and she didn't do anything forcefully to break it. It just literally stopped working. It's over 10 years old, from the previous home owner. He had an attitude and was very rude and refusing to let me show him the issue. I was very dissatisfied and disappointed. He was saying just because it stopped working, doesn't make it wear and tear, it had to be from force. I tried to explain and reason with him but he took a picture and walked out. Very unprofessional, rude, and not helpful at all. My brother tried to talk to him and get an understanding, because he was willing to pay just so that I won't have to go another day without a working sink and he basically was trying to tell him I need to pay $350. I booked Best Way Mechanical through my home warranty company for leaking water heater on 12/27/22. They sent out 2 men to do the job on 1/6//23. Thats when my problem started. After they finished I mentioned to them That I could smell propane I was rudely told that I was questioning their expertice and asured that that was normal after a water heater change. Well the gas semell continued. My home warranty reach out to them to call me they never did. I call them and I explained what had happened. I also told them their plumbers had joined a PVC pipe to the cooper pipe and I did not know if that was standard. Lady who answered the phone stated it wasn't and I should send her a picture to a cell phone number which I did (Never heard from them again on that) gas smell continued so off and on so I bought a propane monitor off of Amazon and installed it in the space just to be sure I was not paranoid. what do we know, the monitor started beeping late evening, I called Atlanata Gas Light Company free gas check service to come out to the house and check where the leak was coming from. Their report in quotes below "Leak at appliance" "Improper Appliance venting" "venting cannot reduce in size. Leak on burner line. Have repaired by qualified person" From what I understand this could have set my house on fire. To think I paid Best Way Mechanical an extra $400 and had to deal with their unproffesional techs only to find out they put me and my family in danger. Now the cost of this one service so far is running at $600 cash (when you add the 2 deductables I have had to pay) and 4 days of me missing work not to mention the distress this has caused me and my family and the job is not well done (mismatched pipes). I want to know what is my recourse for this dangerous situation? Who knows how many other families these people have put at risk. read more

If I could leave negative stars, I would. AHS, of course, contracted these people for some plumbing issues we were having. We had a stoppage/blockage and one of our toilets was constantly running. Technicians showed up on time, looked at the toilet, worked on it a bit, determined they needed more parts, which would need to be ordered. They did replace something in the toilet, which caused the toilet to run for a minute, cut off and then run some more. After they left we decided to just turn off the water to the toilet until the part came in, but they had tightened the turn off valve so, that we could not get it to break loose so that we could even turn off the water. It took several days for the part to come in and I had to call to check on it and reschedule the service myself. Now onto the blockage. Techs ran some water, flushed the toilet and then went outside. I told them the clean out access was at the front of the house and I could show them if they couldn't find it. Several minutes later they return and tell me that the blockage needs to be cleaned out from the vent on the roof and my warranty doesn't cover that. He said they could do it for $425.00...um, I don't think so. They never even tried to clear the blockage through the clean out access. We ended up calling another plumber and he snaked it through the clean out access and cleared the blockage. It took him less than 10 minutes and was much less than $425.00. Of course, we had to pay for this out of pocket, since AHS dispatched inept plumbers who didn't even attempt to clear the blockage. Run from this company if you can. If AHS assigns them to you, call them and demand that they send another company. read more

Dishonest and Fraudulent Company and employees. My Home warranty company assigned Bestway Mechanical to fix my A/C. Thomas came out to diagnose a problem in my system and did not have the proper working gear. Thomas diagnosed a leak in my system w/o a Freon detector. Thomas, without knowing I had the first class upgrade, told me there would be some overages charges. Warranty company said there were all sort of code violations -- even though numerous companies had come out in the past to service the unit w/o alleged code violations. Here is where the scam comes in. Bestway charges a bunch of over inflated "code" violations repairs that are not needed. $250 for a water switch that cost $25 on Amazon (*have a working one), Refrigerant line charges $200 for a $10 line, $200 for locking caps that cost $10 on Amazon, Refrigerant reclaim and recapture on a system where all the Freon leaked out. I called to Complain to the district manager, Wes Robinson. The guy was rude, aggressive and incompetent. I asked why the charges were so excessive and he said his company was in the business to make a profit. I also pulled the code and showed there was no violations. Bestway set an appointment to make the repair and didn't show up. I inquired and they lied and said they didn't have the proper part. Warranty called them and said they had to come out pursuant to their agreement. They refused, lied and said the repair was made. Bestway undercuts their competitors and comes in with a low bid to the warranty company to get business, Then they charge unnecessary and excessive overage charges. My home warranty used this company today to come to my house and fix my water lines ( main house line, sink line and line to the toilet) the technician Scott was incredibly rude and said the only thing on the work order was the toilet line. I told him we requested all 3 to be done. My husband called our home warranty to have the work order corrected. Well wile that was happening Scott asked me where the main line was to the house and asked which sink line. I showed him both. He said the sink line was not normal wear and tear. That I understood, because the turn off valve was broken from where it snapped, however he than said the main water line was also not normal wear and tear. That is what I didn't understand because the only time it was used was to hand turn when Turing the house water off. My house was built in 1973 and the main house line has never been changed or fixed since that time. When I told him that he got rude with me again saying that he already put it in his report and none of it would be covered by my warranty and decided to give me pricing on how much he would charge to fix it. He asked for us to sign the paperwork stating none of the issues were normal wear and tear. When I told him to speak to my husband about it he got a bigger attitude about that. I paid a $75 service fee....Plumber arrived and immediately attempted to charge me $450 without evaluating the situation. I explained to him in needed my main line cleared/snaked which is covered for up to 100 feet within my home owners policy. I unfortunately had to use this company because of American Home shield. It was incredibly difficult to get in touch with them. We called multiple times a day for 5 days (Mon-Fri) and we left messages and they never returned our call. Eventually we got ahold of them to schedule our maintenance and I explained I was an out of state home owner and needed to arrange payment over the phone. I was promised that the actual technician going out to my home would call me to set up payment but he never called me and then showed up and forced my tenants to pay without even calling me. This company has been the last straw for us dealing with the companies that AHS contracts with. We are canceling our warranty with AHS and are going to just call reliable people for repairs instead. read more

Leland Gore With First American, our contractor Mark Allan was excellent and rapidly checked and fixed part of my ac the next day immediately after I filed a claim the night before. I could not have asked for more rapid service. The company contacted me via phone and email and was highly professional. Contracted with this company through First American Home warranty. DO NOT EVER WORK WITH THIS COMPANY! They have NO CALL NO SHOWED on THREE APPOINTMENTS!! It is impossible to get in contact with them and they are extremely unprofessional. My warranty company shipped them the equipment for service our AC. They have our BRAND NEW HVAC system in their possession so we are at their mercy.
