Really wanted to love this place. Meet a couple friends here one day for lunch. We ordered hot beverages and various lunch options. My one friend got the lentil soup and said it was cold so she a shed that they reheat that. My husband got a bowl of French onion soup and it arrived in a cup so he kindly told them he had ordered and paid for a bowl. They did return with a bowl but he said the soup was awful. Sigh. My other friend got a vegetarian open faced sandwich which thankfully she seemed happy with. I got a side latke (ok) and an egg sandwich on a croissant and it was pretty yummy. Phew! We all found it to be cold in the restaurant. Lastly we bought various desserts to go. They looked amazing but were far from it. We sadly threw 1/2 of them in the trash! Nothing worse than spending good money to eat out and the general feeling is "just ok". read more

Took my granddaughter there for her birthday, her food came out a full 15 minutes after everyone else's, and it was wrong. The cook actually shouted at me when I asked to talk with her about it! My extended family have been a patrons of Beth's since it opened. We have brought our grandchildren and adult children, making the café, our common meeting place in Bridgton. We even had our company party there one Christmas. Never again! There is no customer loyalty with this owner. The service has gone downhill over the years. The kitchen is filthy. Beth's Cafe is the quintessential small town, main street bakery/cafe. Their food selection is phenomenal & freshly prepared. I've found the service can be quirky, depending on staff. Eating on a busy sidewalk or by cars pulling in & out of the parking lot is not my preference, but most don't mind. read more

We were in town this morning after a family event. We stopped in after a Google search because it looked cute, had a good vibe and great menu. We were SO impressed! I had the most delicious spinach and bacon quiche and a loaded latke. My husband had the most delicious, homemade marble rye bread with his breakfast. The coffee was devine. Really good food and excellent coffee. Ton and tons of bakery's to choose from. Lots of GF items. I would give this higher rating but they are not opening certain days of the week. From the outside, it doesn't look like much! I was very wrong! It's my favorite spot for a sandwich in Bridgton. I'm never able to finish the sandwich in one sitting and always have granola! Oof. Never again. Came here on a Saturday afternoon for some brunch. The wait in line to order is always pretty long, but that doesn't bother me. When we got up to the front, I ordered an eggs benedict without meat (I am a vegetarian) and instead with spinach. My boyfriend got an omelet. I also ordered two bottles of water and two muffins. I asked if we could sit outside, and they said yes. So, I paid the expensive bill and made my way outside with my boyfriend. Water never came. Food didn't arrive for an hour. My boyfriend went in to get a bloody Mary and was instead YELLED AT by a woman that said she was looking for us and that it was our fault they couldn't find us. We had our little number out on the table... and it was our fault they didn't see us outside, though they confirmed it was fine to do so. Never got the muffins though I paid an arm and a leg for them. When we finally got our food, the waitress seemed frustrated. It was just odd. Halfway through eating my benedict I found a huge slab of ham under the spinach. Like, really? The bathroom had no toilet paper in it...the waitresses were all so angry at everyone... it was just bizarre and not worth a very expensive breakfast of which I didn't receive half of. Been here a few times now, the first time my visit went amazingly but every visit since has gone down. My last visit, my food wasn't even fully cooked, my home fries were still partially raw, nothing kills a meal like eating a raw potato, super disappointing. This is a quaint little cafe, but not cluttered or cramped feeling. The spinach salad I got with grilled chicken was delicious. The fruit and veggies were fresh and delish. I called in the order, it was ready when I got there. I added the soup of the day, which was hot and yummy curried coconut chicken and squash. This is a local staple referred to us by a local friend. The menu has a great selection and even serves all day breakfast. The dessert counter is lovely and each item is clearly made with love. My group all got different sandwiches and I got the 2 egg breakfast over corned beef hash. I personally didn't like their potatoes at all so that's why I knock them down a star since potatoes are hard to get wrong! but my brother chowed them down for me. It was unexpected that their hash is homemade but it was good! And made with fresh green bell pepper and onion. My brother's personal fav thing was the veggie sandwich. The SLOWEST service I had ever had. Spent my whole Sunday morning waiting to eat breakfast and by the time I got my food it was noon! Waited about 30 mins in line to order food which was fine. But waited forever - like 1.5 hrs to get our food and it wasn't even crowded!. No one apologized or even let us know when our food was coming. We were done with our coffees before the food even came. We both had the eggs , hash and rye toast. it was very good. plenty of food. The only negatives are they didn't butter the nice marble rye toast which made it dry and not tasty. It's the kind of place you order and pay at the counter and they bring to you. if you want want that refresh on coffee you have to take your mugs to counter yourself ( and if there's a line you wait in line holding your mugs for that refill they do for you. ( not a fan of that ) also you bring your dishes to a drop area before you leave. If you don't mind doing that then it's 100 perfect lol. We were not disappointed, friendly staff, great food, we had eggs and hash...perfectly cooked and the portion was more than we could finish. Absolutely wonderful find. We were on a road trip and just happened to be passing Beths at lunchtime and saw her restaurant. The brightly painted cafe just looked like it would be good, so we stopped. It was amazing. The food was really very good and you could tell it was prepared by someone who cared about what they were making. Well seasoned, very large portions, and delicious. I had the soup, and thr other three members of our party all enjoyed their entree as much as I did. We ordered dessert and it too was excellent. I'm tempted to suggest this place to Diner, Drive-ins, and Dives, but I'd be afraid word would get out and I wouldn't be able to get a table next time. Bakery, take-out, and dine in are all offered so if you are ever passing this way, you owe it to yourself to stop. read more

Our first visit here. The line was not too bad. Cute place. We had a ham and cheese omelette, a spinach, mushroom and cheese omelette, shared a side of home fries. The omelettes were very good with fresh ingredients except we could barely see or taste any cheese. They definitely look lost on the plate. Seems like a slice of toast or some fresh fruit would liven up the plate. Everything is ala carte. Portions are small for the money. The home fries had no flavor and definitely needed to be cooked longer. We took a piece of rolled cake to go which was huge and absolutely delicious. Overall I enjoyed Beth's. There's plenty of seating and free parking! Tons of sweet treats as well. We got the cinnamon bun and blueberry square, both amazing. Breakfast was good, however, there wasn't a ton of options for breakfast. The coffee was from speckled ax, which is great to see they serve quality and not some cheap generic toaster. PLEASE CHANGE YOUR ORDERING/CASHIER PROCESS. This place is lovely and the food is good BUT you have to be prepared to wait in an interminable line to place your order and pay. The same person takes your order (handwritten) gets your coffee & pastries, and rings you up. This could be 2-3 individual jobs. The inefficiency is staggering & makes it tough to want to go back. In the meantime, us patrons could all help each other by knowing what we want when we eventually get to place an order and choosing not to engage in a 5 minute dialogue about low acid coffee beans when 12 people are waiting in line behind us. Thanks Beth for the great food; I hope the service can soon match. My extended family will be regular customers if we can count on less than a 40 minute wait to order. read more
