We ordered a fried chicken appetizer, and then I had a berry salad. I was so happy I didn't even quarter a protein for my salad.Because the fried chicken appetizer was so big. The fried chicken was probably the best fried chicken.I have ever had it was crispy.And juicy on the inside. My husband also had a ruben with some fresh made fries. We have been to this location for over 18 years now (initially it was Kristas) and the Lindsay restaurant is by far the best so far. The food is tremendous and the bartenders/ waitstaff are great. We visit a couple of times a month; and are grateful for a competitor to Kristas - which, for a long time, was tops in the area - but I think Lindsays is now! read more

Great find in small town! I went there for brunch and had Gypsy toast with added berries! It was delicious, you could smell the cinnamon when the plate hit the table. Caramel latte was also plus. Just another update to say, that this place just gets better and better. When holidays pop up , like Mother's Day or Father's Day, they do a special menu, on top of the already 5 star menu they serve every day. This review is to highlight that fact, and they do it so so well. This time we went for Mother's Day, well the day after, and knew nothing of the MD special event menu. OMG the menu itself had so many delicious sounding choices , it took me 20 minutes to decide on my meal. The service is always top notch, the kitchen is always 5 star and the food is definitely something to write home about. This quaint little eatery inside of the cornish inn is somewhat of a rising star and I'm so happy to see that it's getting the recognition they really deserve. If you haven't been to Lindsay's, check them out, you won't regret it. The lunch menu is smaller than the dinner menu, so if you're looking for a large variety, go for dinner. Their menu may be on the smaller side but they do it so dang well. For Mother's Day I had their chicken and waffles - to die for- and wish it was a regular menu item! I was a little bummed with this spot. I've heard rave reviews and couldn't wait to try. Stopped by today half an hour before they closed, and they initially were very friendly. Ordered some food and some waters, but water never came... As we were waiting for our food, our waitress was very loudly commenting on customers pulling in to the parking lot, claiming she didn't want to serve them because they were so close to closing. I get it- having last minute customers sucks- but shouting it angrily through the whole restaurant was very uncomfortable. Food was okay, I got eggs Benedict and the eggs were raw. Not poached - raw. It just wasn't flavorful and wasn't good. The hash browns were straight up salt. Would've been fine had they brought us the water we asked for! They were out of almost everything (which is fine, we were there very late), our waitress was just seemingly mad for no reason when we asked about things. Maybe we hit them on a bad day. Holy cow. What a gem out in the little towns of Maine!!! The SO and I had ZERO expectations for this place. We chose it because someone was craving pancakes (when does he not?) and we were planning on some true blue berry picking nearby... Down the country road you turn into where there's a sign that says "airport" and the Runway Restaurant is right there. There's parking a plenty and no worries...the airport is open but more like small jets. There weren't any near misses. Going in was much more modern than I expected. It was almost hipster like but without the pretension. There are booths and a large counter with a nice view into the kitchen. We were there around 10 or so and seated quickly. (Around 11 there was a line!!) The menu is all breakfast stuff. Your normal fare, pancakes, french toast, omelettes, etc. Their lunch menu was on the chalk board and they had a special farm to table menu. I chose the Barn Yard Benny...eggs benedict with feta on focaccia, mashed potato cakes, chili hollandaise..and the SO got the Hungry Man plate...eggs toast ham home fries and short stack. It took maybe 10 minutes for the order to come in. Holy cow. That grub was so fancy and so delicious, I was spewing wtfbbq with every bite. That hollandaise!!!!! Should you come all the way out here for some food? Let's just say we will definitely be making the 45 minute drive here again!!! Oh and the service was fine. My family has been going to Lindsay's for years, since they were at the airport! our last experience was delicious as usual! the problem was with the bill, nowhere on the menu did it mention there would be a 18% gratuity added for a party of 6 or more. when we paid the bill, my father and myself didn't realize this was added (our fault for not reading every line of the bill) our party including myself, my husband, my parents, and my two children under the age of eight. My father had looked at the bill when we arrived home and noticed that we had also added an additional 20% tip. When I reached out to the restaurant via telephone and Facebook which they are on very frequently, I never received any response. We frequent that restaurant quite often, but with lack of communication with such a frequent patron, we will not be returning. read more

It's been too long since eating here to provide the detailed review this restaurant really deserves. However, it should say something that even several years later I have made a point to return to offer a review. I can only refer you to others' positive reviews to find better detail about the great menu and well prepared food. One reason we use Yelp is to allow us to locate and patronize restaurants we'd likely be unaware of as dining options when we travel. Yelp has consistently provided us with great unexpected eating opportunities we could never have found on our own when traveling, often just a mile or two beyond the corporate mass market fast food chains located along highway exits. Lindsay & Jennifer is yet another marvelous example of such a great discovery when traveling seemingly in the middle of "nowhere." At the time we were making our way between to destinations o our trip and trying to find somewhere "decent" --and hopefully even interesting -- to stop and eat. Upon choosing and eating here we felt like we'd found just what we were looking for. Everything they serve is a "cut above" what you would expect from a local restaurant. What I remember is that they have a smart, creative and delicious menu to choose from and that the food does not disappoint. I remember being very pleased, feeling like once again we'd found another unexpected dining pleasure for a mid-morning breakfast. I also seem to recall that it was a busy place, another indication that we're not the only people to be aware of what a great find this somewhat out of the way local restaurant is. I don't throw around 5 star reviews lightly. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and I am a devoted bruncher on weekends. I live in Portland and don't often venture out too much as there are so many great brunch places in town. One visit to the Runway Restaurant took everything I thought I knew about brunch, spun it around in the air with the skill of Bobby Flay and served up some of the most innovative and delicious dishes I have had in a long, long time. Let me start with the example of what I ordered. My dish was called the "Finally Fall Benny" and here is the description: We start with two perfectly grilled buttermilk biscuits with a thin layer of apple butter, topped with cider glazed pork loin and a fresh apple, carrot, red onion and cabbage compote. Topped with 2 (perfectly) poached eggs and finished with a cinnamon chipotle spiced hollandaise. Served with onion and cheddar home fries. Now, take a deep breath, sit back in your chair and think about that for a few minutes. So, here's the even crazier part, everything we ordered, I mean everything, was equally delicious!!! We also shared a corn waffle with fried chicken and honey poached pears, and a pierogi filled with golden beets and farmers cheese. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the prices are reasonable compared to downtown Portland (1.50 for coffee) and sometimes, you can see one of those small 2 seater propeller planes fly right by the big picture window. Super cool! Don't even hesitate or over think taking the drive out to Limington. Put the phone down, shut the computer, and get to the Runway Restaurant as soon as you possibly can. Pro tip: Once you park outside, run into the restaurant as fast as you possibly can. Lingering in the parking lot is time you could have spent inside, reading the menu, preparing to order and consuming consistently badass cuisine. For being on an unknown airstrip in the middle of no where this place was AMAZING! Well worth a trip from Portland and beyond. I had the winter root vegetable Benedict which was served on a homemade biscuit with root veggie hash, perfectly poached eggs, and a pepper jelly infused hollandaise (!!!!!). Like WHAT?? It was amazing. And the fruit cup that came with it was actually good in season fruit. My uncle had the pancake special which had bacon cooked right in a topped with candied bacon and lemon custard. There are roughly 8 or so tables along with a bar with ten or so chairs. Sometimes when I go all the seats are taken and other times there is plenty of room. I've been here a handful of times now and always order off the special menu. The items on the special menu are always recognizable but almost always have a unique twist. Minor detail but important to me - I was seated at the bar and the communication between the chefs and the servers was so warm. I felt completely at home and hung out for a while. We have eaten here before and had wonderful service and food., not this time. Our waitress wouldn't take our order, stating that she couldn't until another larger order went through from a large party??? Made no sense to us. We are an easy going bunch and figured she must be new, so we had some more coffee and waited another 15 minutes until she actually took our order. All of the above can be forgiven, we know what it is to be a waitress and work in a service industry, our sympathies definitely are usually with the waitress. Not in this case. Two of the four orders were wrong. I will not bore with the details. One order was probably a mixup in the kitchen and the other was her error. Still all could be forgiven, except that when brought to her attention, we were , told we were wrong, dismissed and ignored. That is unforgivable. Your job is to make it right for the customer PERIOD. A simple apology, how can I fix this for you? would have gone a long way to making this a much better review, because the food was very creative and excellent!! read more

What a find! It is so well worth the drive. It's only open until 2pm so it is mainly known for its breakfast but the lunch we had was fabulous. Really, who knew a sandwich could be this good? The sandwich and salads were listed on the board so I assume they change daily. I had a roasted chicken, gorgonzola, candied walnut sandwich that was out of this world. Friend had roasted turkey with many embellishments (can't remember what) which was likewise delicious. Even the sides were terrific. Thinly sliced, totally non greasy fried onion rings, and fresh cut potatoes for french fries - both were exceptional. Add in outstanding service and we will be making the hour drive again! I feel bad to give Runway an average rating, especially given the wonderful customer service that I got today, but I feel that it was adequate for the food quality. After flipping through pictures on Yelp, the two really popular dishes were waffle and fried chicken, or cheese pierogi, but both were seasonal and not available. I went with the Irish benedict (with corn beef), and my partner got the actual corn harsh beef. Both were essentially the same dish, except for the Hollandaise sauce. Although they advertise it as farm to table food (and if that is the case), I don't think the ingredients were handled elegantly: toast soaked with oil and butter, mediocre corn harsh beef tasting mediocre, bland hollandaise source, even the onion topping was not caramelized. Plus, it was 45 min drive from Portland, so I don't think I would return.. PS: if you like planes, you would really enjoy all the posters! read more

What a meal! I left this place asking myself, "why would I ever eat in Portland again?" I am a self proclaimed Portland brunch lover, but I'm not kidding when I say I haven't felt like this about a meal in a long time. These folks are doing something right... Upon a recommendation from a friend who lived in the area for a while, she directed us (I was skeptical) to the airport. Yes this place has an airport behind it, which actually adds to the ambiance, when a Cessna lands behind you as you are getting an amazing plate of chicken and waffles with honey poached pears.
