First look at the menu they have all the coffee shop favorites you'd expect to see. The specials instantly caught my eye today because they had Honey Lavender Latte & Matcha. I knew my wife would want one of those. We both settled on an iced latte version of that. Tasty and well made drinks. We had already had breakfast otherwise a breakfast sandwich would have been the perfect addition. They also had some baked goods, Avacado toast as well as some other food options. The space is quite large with a variety of seating including a few tables outside and quite a few window seats too. The current special was "Hey Bay Latte" which was a bay leaf, orange zest, and brown sugar. I thought it had a great combination of flavor and was well made. My wife got an iced mocha latte and enjoyed it. It did not become her new favorite but thought it was a solid version. If you are looking for a bite to eat, check out another Speckled Ax location Despite the small space it is well utilized and they have enough decorations and wall art to give it some vibes. Speckled Ax isn't my preferred coffee, but I appreciate this location and love that it serves the Greater Portland population. If you were coming into/leaving town via 302, this could easily become your go-to local independent coffee shop!

They are a "no-tip" establishment and I'm here for that. And they get bakery items from Standard Baking Co. (also big-time here for that)! I had always seen an extravagent breakfast sandwich on their menu that was priced at like $13, and so I had avoided it. The other day, they were advertising a simpler, lower priced, meat, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich option. Coffee wise they support local and use beans from a fellow Maine business, Black Ink Coffee in Bangor. My wife got the Blueberry Pancake Iced Latte and I got the Strawberry Shortcake Iced Latte. Both had tons of flavor, definitely sweet though so be mindful if that isn't your thing. Lastly, we had each got a sausage egg and cheese on an english muffin. Let me say they were some of the largest english muffins I have had. The egg was also seasoned much more than you usually get. A top-notch breakfast sandwich I would return for. The croissant looked crisp and airy, not over filled. But when you bit into it there was no crunch, completely lacking that delicate glass like texture that really makes a croissant. It felt days old stale and thick, no layers, just a block of filled bread. The breakfast sandwiches are premade and microwaved (at least that as the texture) to order. Underseasoned and dull. The coffee on the other hand was good. I'd go back for the coffee, definitely not the breakfast or pastries.
