Swung in this morning for a quick bite and so happy we did. We have been looking for a breakfast place in the area for years and just now stumbled on Beth's. They have outdoor seating both on sidewalk and next to building. The options seem endless, I was overwhelmed. We chose the hash breakfast and two omelettes. We also tried a sugar donut as well. Everything was incredibly fresh and real. I had some preferences that I would ask for next time but that sincerely are just personal preferences (toast the bread instead of grill it, home fries a bit more well done). The flavors were great. My husband gets hash everywhere and he can only recall one place that is better. He did say the presentation was different than any place he has gotten. Coffee was great and the decor was welcoming and niche. Staff were all amazingly accommodating and friendly. You order you pay and then you find a seat. The staff brings it to you. I'm seriously obsessed with Beth's desserts. The cinnamon rolls are amazing. Carrot cake is the best I ever had and the key lime pie was delicious! My boyfriend loves their homemade granola. They are always busy, so yes- you will have to wait a bit, but it's worth it. read more

Can get quite busy sometimes especially during the weekends, but the food is still good went there for my birthday, and it took more than 30 minutes to get our food and there was a big line and it was quite loud... My chef husband & I are visiting for the Summer. We wanted some lunch and passed by this cafe. Let's begin with the inside of the place. LOVED! It's everything you'd expect from a gourmet cafe. If I didn't have my dog with me, I would've grabbed a comfy seat. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The menu is extensive. It wasn't easy choosing with soooo many delicious items on the menu and on display. Everything here is freshly made. I got their cranberry chicken salad wrap, and my husband got their Hot Ham and Gouda sandwich. Plus, I got him a few bakery items. We were VERY happy with our meal! My wife cannot eat dairy. I discussed that with the woman who took my order. She suggested a sandwich with mozzarella and pesto, and said we could order it without the mozzarella. I specifically asked her if the pesto had dairy, and she said "It is fine. It does not have dairy" My wife called them when I got home and they double checked then told us "yes, there is parmesan in pesto". So she drove back to Beth's to get a new sandwich. Not only did they refuse to replace the sandwich, they lied to my wife and told her that I never told them that she couldn't have dairy. When I called and spoke with Beth she was very condescending. She told me that I shouldn't expect her cashier to know what is in their food, and that I should have "asked the cooks myself". Although the woman taking my order had already been talking to them, evidently I should have intervened according to the owner. I agree that I should probably know that there is dairy in pesto, but I think there are two more important points here When someone serving food is asked directly if there is a specific allergen in the food they should not tell you it doesn't unless they are sure. That is the responsibility of the business selling the food. Also, all they had to do was replace the sandwich with a dairy free one, and we would have been satisfied. Instead they lied and blamed the customer. I have NEVER written a negative review in my life, but the way we were treated for simply wanting them to make good by their mistake is maddening. read more

Owner Yelled at Me I ordered a gluten free bagel and it came with a gluten muffin which is now apparently a complimentary garnish. After I explained to my waitress that I couldn't have a gluten muffin touching my gluten free food she took it back after saying a few other gluten free patrons had complained about it. This spot is pretty good considering the competition around it. We sat outside with the tables socially distant. The food a little longer than usually but I completely understand we got the French toast and asked for no powdered surface and as you can see it came with sugar. The pastries look good however we didn't try any. Now the worst part of the experience. The only person wearing a mask in the entire establishment was the one handling the money. No one and I mean no one was wearing a mask in the kitchen. While I realize we are in Maine and cases are extremely low please still do your job to help the community. read more

I've been to this place several times over the past few years and sadly the quality has been steadily going down (while prices have gone up). Let me start by saying this is such a cute little cafe and the staff all seem great. I love that this is one of the only cafes in the area that has a decent amount of seating. The food, however, leaves something to be desired. I've always loved their ruebens and cheesecake here but the last few times it has been extremely disappointing. When I got the cheesecake last time I bought it to go to share with a friend and it had gone bad! It was very sour so it had been likely sat there for over a week. Despite this I just decided that I would no longer order the cheesecake and just order different things from now on since that was my first really bad food experience. But then I placed an order for a rueben today and, first off I was shocked that the price had increased to $14 (for the sandwich and and a mini snack size bag of chips). Despite this I was looking forward to fulfilling my craving only to find that the sandwich is 50% bread. I don't know if they changed breads or this particular one was just cut too thick but the bread was 1" in width (for each slice), plus the filling was about 60% saurkraut. $14 seems like a lot basically for just a sandwich that is basically just bread and saurkraut. Aside from those two items I've tried a few of their smoothies, and for those that prefer smoothies over juices this is not the place for you. I'm not sure why they say smoothies because they're really not smoothies, they're basically juices with some pulp. It was honestly horrible, they came out luke warm and tasted nothing like the fruit they advertised (I believe one had strawberry and banana?). I do not recommend the "smoothies". Honestly the breakfast was not worth the price either. Their latkas were bland, quiche was thin and heavy, nothing really stood out as amazing. So happy to see a local lunch place thrive in Bridgton center. We've needed a coffee shop place here for a while! The turkey veggie soup on the specials was so good and was the perfect small lunch to hold me over until dinner. My mother had the French onion soup and ate every drop. I've had turkey sandwiches here before which are equally as yummy. Beth's has a home-y feel which I love and the food tastes so fresh. The community board is ample which I appreciate. This absolute behemoth of a Cubano fed me for three meals. Someone in the airport actually came up to me to ask where in the airport I had purchased my sandwich, and was very disappointed when I told her it was in a different city, yesterday. At first I was disappointed I hadn't chosen to share it, but it really held up after a day in the refrigerator. Meat just spilling out everywhere, dijonnaise miraculously still confined to moistening the bread, peppers adding just enough of a zip, pickles pickled strong. Nice place, menu looked great, baked goods looked awesome. BUT. I ordered a cafe favorite, so you'd think it would be ready quickly. Nope. Waited an hour. My two eggs over easy and toast with the duck hash were cold. The duck was tasty. The potatoes were nicely flavored with duck fat. The green peppers were unexpected in "hash" and the sweet onions were expected, but they were not evenly cut and the chunks were hard for me to chew. In fairness someone with more/better teeth could probably have downed them without a problem. Food isn't great and customer service comes up short. Muffins have frozen fruit and not much of it. In Maine you would think the blueberry muffin would be amazing, its not. The way the ordering process works is insane. When it is busy, more than 2 people in line, it takes way longer than necessary to get things going. If you are ordering a muffin and a coffee and you have to wait for a group of people to order breakfast to one person as 2 servers look on? Crazy. You would tolerate it if the food was outstanding but it is just ok. Granted Panera does it this way but the menu is very concise and they have many terminals/order takers. I think a quick view of a Foodtv recipe and you could make better food at home. That being said it really is nice inside. If they switched to waiters taking orders and serving at tables and counter for take out I would be much happier with the place. read more

This place is the only game in town so they manage to stay in business although they have zero customer service and are definitely one of the rudest establishments I have ever walked into. I was denied a cup of coffee for carry out today because my task trained documented medical service dog accompanied me as usual. The proprietor hires kids as staff so as not to have to pay trained help. They have no clue what the ADA (Americans with Disability Act) is much less how to abide by it. Stay away! Food looks fantastic but we didn't get to try it because it took FOREVER. Waited in line for 15 minutes to order. Skipped sandwiches so we could get something faster. Then waited another twenty minutes for a cup of coffee and a pastry from the case! I understand there are orders ahead of us, but it was an exorbitant amount of time to pour coffee into a cup. I think that the reason Beth's gets so much kick back is because a lot of people come during the rush and get all huffy because the wait is too long. This is a pretty small place, all things considered. I, personally, have never had a bad experience here. Because from the beginning I understood that I have to wait in line (sometimes for 10-15 min if I come during the lunch rush), and it's really not that bad. The food is worth it. The sandwiches are HUGE and delicious. Almost as big as my head and probably half a pound meat, at least. They are usually busy. I haven't ever come to Beth's in a time where I haven't had at least two or three people ahead of me. The people who are being all nitpicky about the chalkboards should maybe consider picking up a print menu, found by the glass display case near the register. Went to this little spot in moose country and I will tell you what... what a diamond in the rough. Had a great vibe and the place was PACKED. I ordered the falafel wrap which seemed to be a specialty item at the time. It was very delicious and everything tasted super fresh. The flavors worked well together and the falafel were seasoned really well so they did not get lost in the wrap. The home fries were good but not great. I would've like them crispier and in smaller chunks. They were very potato forward. The honey mustard there was the real MVP, it seemed like just honey and mustard seed but the honey tasted fresh and it has a nice mustard twang at the end. The only things I did not like was I feel like they could've added more seating upstairs for such a big space and they seemed understaffed for the demand. Went in today for a coffee and slice of cake to go. Waited 20 minutes for my coffee and asked about the slice of cake that i was still waiting for and they said the kitchen was still working on it. The cake was in the display case!!! This is not the first time I've had to wait an excessive amount of time when it wasn't very busy.
