creamy rice and chicken with ham salad sandwich
    Ellie D.

So yummy! We got the lunch special: creamy rice and chicken soup with a ham salad sandwich and I loved it. Another person in my party thought the soup was a bit too salty but ate it all nonetheless. The portions are pretty nice, a full bowl of soup (not a cup) and a whole sandwich (not a half like we were expecting for some reason). The overall menu had slimmer pickings but the lunch specials seemed to be where it was at. After we ordered they changed the soup lunch special to a new option that also looked fantastic. I do wish the second soup option was known before hand as I think another person in my party would've preferred that one. If I'm in the area ever again then I'll be coming back.

While in Alma for a weekend our bartender recommended Beth's as the best breakfast place around and she was not kidding! This place is your classic small town cafe except the service is really spectacular, the coffee is stronger than you'd expect, and it was packed! We tried the Stuffed Hashbrowns and the Biscuits and Gravy and both were awesome. They allowed us to swap out scrambled eggs in favor of over medium on both dishes. The prices were very reasonable and portions large but not overwhelming. If we are ever in the area again we will for sure be back!

    The walleye dinner! Wow!!!!

Great place to go if you are a small party. If you are a party of 6 or more, plan on waiting a while. That's my only complaint! The business was Gang Busters! The food phenomenal for a small town in my opinion! I was passing through, as the restaurants in Alma were closed on Monday, and it was lunch time, so we had to double back. HOLY COW!!!! The fish was huge, and fantastic!!! Worth every penny! The grilled cheese came burnt a bit, but edible. The sloppy Joe was great! The ice cream sundae was out of this world!

We had gone for a morning cruising from the twin cities. The day before we had looked for breakfast restaurants and this was the earliest one that opened in the area. At 6:30am! They offered patio seating and it was perfect for the morning. Great, fast and friendly service. They prefer cash but can go next door to the gift shop if you have card only. They were more than accommodating. Food was amazing. Definitely going again!

Hash browns stuffed with eggs and cheddar cheese...awesome!

Stopped in to pick up lunch after arriving in Minneapolis and heading to visit family. Wanted…read moresomething light and quick and saw Clancey's on Yelp. Being 5 minutes from our destination we decided to give it a try And boy are we glad we did! The sammiches weee absolutely outstanding. They come with a smorgasbord of toppings, so you need to peruse the list to determine if there is anything you DON'T want. We had three turkey sammiches and one ham, and everyone chose to modify their toppings slightly (note/ if you desire tomatoes, those need to be added as they oddly aren't on included in the smorgasbord ‍) I opted for everything - perhaps a bit anxious about how well all the flavours would mesh (mayo, mustard, horseradish, oil and vinegar along with various toppings). But you know something / it worked really really well. We also chose the potato salad as a side and it was also quite tasty. Lighter, northerly mayo's. While the sammiches weee being constructed we perused the offering in the attached grocery. Everything oooed fantastic and if we lived Locally, I would certainly be a regular - with an eye to trying many of their offerings beyond the sandwich counter.

The food never disappoints. I tried the chili for the first time and it was delicious. Bus your own dishes and get your own water. There is parking at the back of the shop which was almost always available. Or street parking is also convenient. Love the neighborly feel of the place and don't forget to get the frozen stews for your next meal at home.
