The tea had stevia in it (wtf??) which I personally think is the most disgusting and disappointing sweetener out there. Super weird for it to be a part of the tea bag, IMO. Ambiance? I would LOVE to spend more time there. I love local artists and the vibe there is really great. Soothing, relaxing, chill... but... I go to a coffee shop for the coffee and/or tea and if that's not great and if the barista is annoyed... I'm not going to stick around for the ambiance. (Also, with a name like Avionics, I was expecting a little more decor along that line. So if you're interested in aviation and airplanes, don't come here thinking you've found a fellow aficionado.)

Had great indoor decor -- as some previous reviewers said, it had a interesting combination of modernism and nature. However, food was not as good as environment. The menu was very limited (together with my friend we already covered the whole menu lol). I saw on Yelp that they offered the Lox Plate and Avocado Stack, which looked pretty amazing. Unfortunately they do not offer these any more. The lox bagel was super small, so were the egg sandwich and granola. The sandwiches tasted OK, but the granola was way too sweet for me. Luckily the price was reasonable. Not very likely to come here again as it offers too few things now. They do offer more drinks than food. So in general due to its decor and the fact that not many people go there, it would not be a bad choice to study or work here anyway.

The service was quick and friendly, the barista described the options available and had good recommendations! Good study space with WiFi, bathrooms, and a water fountain around the corner. Just be prepared to wear a jacket on either end of the cafe near the doors, can get windy upon opening! Thai Tea Caramel Canelé {5/5}: The best canelé I've ever had (okay, I admit, I've only had maybe 6 in my life). Great caramel and good Thai tea flavor. The texture was AMAZING with a nice slight crisp and chewy outside and almost custard-like inside. I got 2 more before I left Green Onion Kouign-Amann {4/5}: A caramel shell outside of this very flakey pastry that I had plenty of green onions mixed within the dough. It was a great play on sweet and salty flavors with delicious flakey layers Jade Cloud {3/5}: Peach oolong tea with matcha cold foam. Just a personal preference thing, but the flavor combination of peach, oolong, and matcha was not my favorite. I can see how someone who likes this flavor profile would find this drink refreshing!

We got a couple of croissants and a canele, and we each ordered an espresso drink. It was everything she promised - and more. The croissant was flaky and buttery. The canele had the signature caramelized exterior and soft inside. I intended to only have a bite and save the rest for later, but I couldn't resist finishing it. Would definitely come back on my next visit. In the meantime, I'll just have to ask my friend to bring pastries to me when she visits!

Stephanie got two buttermilk pancakes and 2 sausage links, I got the banana bread French toast? What no way!!! It was great, came topped with bananas and housemade whipped cream and a caramel drizzle and I believe candied pecans. I did not get a picture, of our meals. We definitely want to return. We live an hour away, so we need to plan for it. Thank you and we will return!!

The menu is small but covers all the main items that one has for breakfast/brunch (e.g pancakes, french toast, omelettes). Our servers have always been friendly and the food surprisingly comes out pretty fast. The prices are on par with those of other similar establishments. At this particular visit, we ordered the vegetarian omelet (and explained that we are in fact vegetarian), kids special (requested to sub fruit for meat) and the banana bread French toast. Our vegetarian omelet, much to our dismay, had a piece of bacon inside. The kids special was 2 sunny side up eggs plated with bacon and sausage links (despite requesting no meat). The banana bread french toast was absolutely amazing, its a thing of pure beauty. Our server was apologetic and bought the eggs back with the meat removed. We told her that we did not want another omelet, and we were not charged for the omelet. Overall, I was disappointed by the lack of care about food choices. I understand it is a busy establishment but if they are not able to accommodate different dietary restrictions, they should specify that. However, if you have no dietary restrictions, its definitely worth a try and you will likely not be disappointed. Ps: chilaquiles completely missed the mark.

Honest Review (Very Disappointed After a Great First Visit)…read moreThis was my second time coming to Hey Bobo, and I was really shocked by how disappointing this visit was. The first time I came, I ordered the strawberry matcha with boba and loved it , so much that I came back and brought my sister. She ordered the same drink, and I decided to try something new: the frosted coconut pumpkin spell (with boba). Unfortunately, that was a big mistake. The drink was completely tasteless ; it had color but absolutely no flavor, almost like drinking stale rotten coconut water! As someone who loves coconut, this was a first. The taste was very off putting. I even had my sister try it, and she had the same reaction. I politely went to the counter and explained that the drink didn't taste right and asked if they could add more flavor. To my surprise, the lady handed me a cup of pumpkin purée and instructed me to fix it myself. I tried mixing it in, but it didn't help. When I asked if I could get a refund or a replacement, she refused, offering no solution at all. I ended up leaving upset and tossed my full drink. I'm genuinely sad because I really liked this place the first time and was excited to bring my sister, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth (literally and figuratively). I hope management sees this and takes it seriously, because I'd love to see Hey Bobo improve their customer service and consistency. (Photo of the untouched drink in the trash for authenticity.)

A glass display case sits empty at the hostess station displaying nothing but lots of smudgy fingerprints. A fitting analogy to the current Courier unfortunately. Patrons come in for lunch and wait several minutes for somebody to seat them. The service suffers from understaffing. I ordered a Veggie Dagwood sandwich. Remember Dagwood Bumstead and his multi layer skyscraper sandwiches?? Not here! This was more of a very dry bread sandwich. Where are the layers of veggies? The layers of cheese? The alfalfa sprouts? The sauce? My sandwich was served with a stale pickle. I asked if I could order a side like potato salad. They had coleslaw - $4 up charge. The place needs to be cleaned up! Put a little pride into the menu.

I won't belabor the point but the items we ordered lacked thoughtful preparation. The scrambled tofu was just tofu with curry powder. The veggie Dagwood consisted primarily of plain toast with little in the way of "veggie." An extra tomato and another dollop of special sauce (sweet mayo) would go a long way here.
