1-Star Review Fraudulent Estimate & Insurance Scam - Beware I brought my car to Better Body Auto Collision at the recommendation of my insurance provider (Geico) after a minor accident involving my 2013 VW Jetta. The damage was limited to a cracked grille, bumper, and both front fenders -- all cosmetic and easy to replace. Upon inspection, this shop submitted a grossly inflated repair estimate of over $5,000 to Geico. They claimed the car was totaled, which was simply not true. I did my own research and found OEM replacement parts for my exact vehicle on eBay for under $300 total -- including the bumper, grille, and both fenders. When I went to pick up my car after withdrawing the claim, I discovered fraudulent behavior: Unrelated parts were tampered with, including the driver door panel and oxygen sensor (which had nothing to do with the accident). Dents and areas not involved in the collision were circled and exaggerated for insurance purposes. It was clear this shop was inflating damage to profit off the insurance payout. This kind of dishonest and predatory behavior hurts honest customers and makes repairs more expensive for everyone. I reported this behavior to Geico and the NY State Department of Financial Services. Avoid this shop at all costs -- especially if you're referred by insurance. Get a second opinion and verify the costs of your parts before agreeing to anything. If I hadn't done my own research, I would've lost my car and had my record reflect a total loss unnecessarily. read more

After my car got sideswiped, this place was one of 3 options that I was given to take my car to and I am so happy that I did. They exceeded my expectations and so much more! On the day of my drop-off appointment, I met with Chris (very friendly and professional) and we went over the area that required fixing as well as outlining some old scratches and dents. He told me what to expect and then gave me a date for when my car would be ready. Let me just say that nothing could have prepared me for when I got my car back. I dropped it off thinking they would have simply just buffed out the area that got hit and then fixed it and went on about their day. Not only did they fix the damaged area, they were able to remove 90% of my old dents and scratches AND I was able to get new rims all around. My car looks brand new!....I should mention that I dropped my car off on a Wednesday and it was ready by Monday. Also, I did not pay out of pocket for any of these repairs. I went to Better Body on the recommendation of a Black owned business resource group of which im a member. My bumper was hanging on by a thread. The business owner Sharon saw my bumper, went to get one of her workers who then took my car and performed a miracle in less than 15 minutes. wish i had before and after pics to post. I was quoted $600 at another place and she told me no charge. I am so grateful for the great job and their deed of the day. ATTENTION: I picked up my repaired car from Better Body Auto Collision on February 26, 2024. The issue with the car was a broken driver's side mirror; I was the victim of a hit-and-run. I returned home and parked it. It was on Friday, March 1, 2024, that I needed to drive it, and once I attempted to lower the driver's side window, the window vibrated and made a loud struggling noise and slowly lowered. I returned to Better Body Auto Collision and spoke to the mechanic who did the repairs, as well as his supervisor, Chris (718 527-2639). They quickly denied any liability and indicated that the motors for the windows were already on their last leg. I repeated that before your mechanics opened and removed the driver's side door panel, which they repeated in my presence, the windows raised and lowered quietly and effortlessly. At this time, I felt they were pressuring me to inquire how much it would cost to make these additional repairs, but I refused and instead wished Chris a nice weekend. I am very disappointed in the services of Better Body Auto Collision and their refusal to take responsibility for their mistakes. I wouldn't recommend this place! Repair service is SLOW and customer service is almost non-existent.. Dropped my truck off for repair and was told that it would take 3 to 4 days for repair. It actually took 8 days! What really put a sour taste in my mouth was the attitude I was given via telephone by the manager when I called to inquire on the status of the repair. Had to come back since I was hit while parked. One of my parts was on back order for over a month....supply chain issues. Christie was constantly keeping me in the loop and when the rental ran out on my policy....Betterbody took over my rental and it cost me nothing out of pocket. Unbelievable!!! When I picked up another customer was telling me they did the same thing for him. The work was incredible. You cannot tell my car was hit. I went to the dealer for service and they asked me for the shops number to see if they would do work for them. If you're an early bird, do not use this business. They say opening time is 7:00AM. They are late, late, late meaning they don't open until almost 8:30AM. One day I decided to go there since they are a GEICO guaranteed shop. I sat and waited almost 2 hours and left. The repair guys were opening the shop around 8:15am, and the woman that's supposed to process your paperwork hasn't arrived till about 9am or later. Poor organization skills for a business. My car had a minor bumper damage and i was told it will take 3 days to fix but it took them 8 days to fix it. I have to call them every single time for the update. The lady in the customer service, I think she is the manager is one of the most rude person you could ever met. She is very nasty and unapologetic. Instead of being nice with the customer, she will tell the customer off for calling up. I would never recommend this body shop. This place was pretty good in my book . Came in with a deep scratch and dent inside the rear right door . It was from near the bottom of the window to the bottom of the right side . It was also scraped with yellow, which looked horrible on my black exterior . Came in to get a quote, and spoke with Chrissy . After talking through details, she gave me an estimate and a date it would be completed . Pricing was middle of the line from other estimates, and as far as completion date she missed it by maybe two days, but I wasn't bothered by that because, she throughly specified that it's per chance it may or may not be done by that date . I was incredibly impressed with the work though . The door looked as if nothing ever happened . Scrape was gone, dent was gone, and my baby was back to beautiful . Chrissy was extremely nice and polite, and courteous to the pride I took to my vehicle . The customer service and the job done is why I would recommend this place . This was the second time that I used this repair shop for my Mercedes Benz CLS550 . In 2015 while parked unoccupied a truck side swiped my left rear quarter panel. The damage looked pretty bad.I brought the car to Better Body where they quickly identified damage that wasn't apparent to my unexperienced eye. Beyond the apparent they pointed out damage to the sidewall of my tire and additional damage to the wheel on the opposite side of the car from being pushed up against the curb from the accident. In addition to the metal repairs I got a new tire, reconditioning of two wheels and a wheel alinement. The car was fixed and returned to me in less than a week. two years later the repair and paint still looks like new. Most recently on September 1st my car was side swiped again ripping off my drivers side mirror. I brought it back to Better Body and they repaired it in like new condition after the Insurance Company appraiser authorized the repair. The Best Body staff was extremely courteous and followed up with telephone calls to me during each of the steps of the repair. They also arraigned for an easy transaction for a rental car from Enterprise car rental which has an onsite office to make the whole repair process that much more easier. I highly recommend this business should you need collision repair. read more
