I am sharing this review based off my experience working in there, drinking an Italian soda and…read morejust checking in the vibes.... OK, so first off, the customers in here are really nice. You can always appreciate the laid-back being anywhere in Santa Cruz or Capitola. They are right on a main street with parking in the back and they have a cute outside seating area with chairs and umbrellas. It's a pretty large and nice size coffee shop with ample seating and an extended couch/booth area. They have a lot of outlets to do work quietly or to read or charge your phone. I really like that they close at 6 PM too a lot of coffee shops close at three or four. If you're here long enough and haven't eaten, they sell food and snacks. Also a pretty good option of beverages like coconut water, soda, waters, and smoothies, or plain sodas. You can come in and get a soup or some cookies, a protein bar, or, some bagels- they legit have it all. I haven't tried anything food or coffee wise, but my Italian soda is pretty delicious. The two cashiers were really nice and everyone just seems to be on the best chill vibes. I will definitely save this place and return in the future. Their specialty coffees look delicious and are just my vibe and I can't wait to try them when the weather gets colder.

After watching the sunrise with friends this Sunday morning, we found ourselves in search of a…read morelocal coffee shop open early. Lulu's on Mission welcomed us warmly--doors open and lights on--right at 6 a.m. sharp. At first, I was hesitant. This particular location had only a few Yelp reviews, and I tend to be cautious when ratings are based on such limited feedback. But my friends encouraged me to give it a try, and I'm glad they did. The variety of pastries on display was surprisingly robust for such an early hour. I ordered the blackberry citrus scone and appreciated how the tart fruit balanced the sweetness--though the sugar topping was a bit heavy-handed, slightly overpowering the more delicate flavors beneath. I also tried a sip of my friend's cappuccino--it was smooth, well-balanced, and the latte art didn't disappoint. Another friend opted for a matcha latte with vanilla syrup, and her content smile said it all. At an hour when most people are still half-asleep, our barista greeted us with genuine energy and warmth. He seemed to take pride in his craft, preparing our drinks with care and enthusiasm, as if ready to make a hundred more. One note: the Yelp page could use a small correction. The description currently reads "cozy coffee shop with ocean views"--and while the space is indeed cozy and inviting, you certainly can't see the ocean from this location. All in all, this was a lovely way to begin the day. I'll absolutely be returning--next time with even more appreciation for the kind of thoughtful service and quality that Lulu's brings to the Santa Cruz coffee scene.

This place is ADORABLE with the vinyls and old books lining the walls. The outside doesn't match the inside, in a good way (to me, anyway). I avoided going in before because the exterior was so intricately designed that I thought it was some fancy place, but it's this really cool, hipster cafe with brunch food! My kids took me here on Mother's Day, so the line to order at the counter was out the door, but it moved quickly and the staff was still very professional and polite when we arrived with questions about the menu. Food was prepared hot and delicious! We all loved what we ordered, and my whisky latte was great! There was not a ton of seating, but it was nice to see there was an outdoor patio in the back as well as the front of the restaurant! I would absolutely return to LuLu's. In fact, I was already thinking what I'd order next time before I even left, which really says something!

The whole interaction felt unnecessarily rude and made us uncomfortable. Especially because she did it in front of the other customers and tried to make a scene! We finished those 4 donuts off and kept the rest for breakfast tomorrow. They were fresh (grabbed them about 8:45a) and the glazed actually seemed warm. Staff was super easy to order from and packed them nicely in a small box (nice to see the thought out packaging instead of eating a full box on a small order). They also had coffee/drinks, inside seating, and plenty of of parking. There were a few small groups seating inside but it felt uncrowded with several open tables still available. I understand about recent inflation and I am okay with spending more on good quality food, however it has become exorbitant-- $35 (plus fees and delivery) on a salad that says it feeds 2 people yet barely feeds one person. I could go to a nice local restaurant like Mentone and get the same sized salad freshly made for $18. $48 for meat entrees that are supposed to feed 2-3 people yet have one small chicken breast and feed one person. It felt expensive yet worth it when I started with Golden Roots a few years ago but now it costs $190 per meal to feed our family of four, because we need two entrees and two salads for it to be enough food, including fees and delivery. We found another delivery service that uses organic ingredients and is a better value. I will miss Golden Root's food.

I would never think I would be able to afford having a service like Golden Root, however I find not only is the food super high quality and cooked to my preferences it is actually economical for me. Groceries are so expensive and to buy the ingredients to make dishes like this is cost prohibitive. It is also cheaper than eating out every night. The servings are generous, the recipes are really delicious and they switch it up, but not so much that you don't get excited to see new favorites back in a few weeks. They use compostable packaging and jars and paper bags that I returned so there is zero waste except for one type of small bag they use. I also like that I can be on the "a la carte" plan, chosing the meals and the quantity myself each week. You can also do a subscription where they take care of all the planning for you and it happens automatically. We pick order up at the yummy smelling little shop on Tuesday afternoons. They always have delicious treats at the front table and the sweet staff hand over the goods. I feel so good supporting a local woman owned business who hires locals and uses local produce and ingredients. It is everything I want to support. I realize that for families this might be entirely too expensive but if you are single or a couple maybe check them out!
