My father was a patient at Better Hearing Center a few years ago. He lives out of the area and when he was visiting me recently, I noticed his hearing aid wasn't giving feedback when it was cupped in the hand. I called BHC and scheduled an appointment three weeks away, when he would be visiting again. Since the hearing aid wasn't operating, I decided to run it over to them Saturday morning so they might diagnose the problem or send it out for servicing before we came to see them the next month. Imagine my surprise and delight when I got a call 3 hours later that it was repaired and ready to be picked up, 2 hours before my Dad was scheduled to leave for my sister's home. Dr. Sanford was working a half day that Saturday and still found time to repair it between patients. I am so appreciative of his time and the customer service at Better Hearing Center. I went for an initial visit looking forward to trying the ear lens product. Had a good visit and sounded like a good match and product. It's been a few months and a couple of sending emails and conversations with their office staff trying to motivate them to move forward with my hearing incidentally associated with a workmen's comp claim. I provided them with all the pertinent information and contact's at least three times asking them to submit a RFA (request for authorization) to my WC Carrier. ZERO response from them to my carrier who was waiting for their RFA. Apparently this office has no interest in my hearing or business, one would think that for a product that cost between 10 & 20 K they'd make a little more effort. Oh well the next neare provider of Ear Lens is further then I like to drive so I'm going back to my original local hearing aid provider. read more

The staff here at this business honestly are Steller in regards to their customer service, people skills, and accommodations to their customer's needs. My wife and I contacted them on a Friday fir an important hearing test that I needed conducted before Monday. Not only were they able to get the test done, they were able to get it done from me the next day. Like honestly, they were so awesome to fit me in last minute and on a Saturday. Mark was really professional, knowledgeable, and efficient during my visit. This test was for pre-employment so I had a lot riding on getting this test done. I am a busy executive with a challenging daily schedule. I show up for my appointments on time with the expectation Better Hearing Center of Walnut Creek to be on time as well. I showed up today for my appointment and waited 25 min past my appointment time. the practitioner was late to work today throwing the whole schedule out of whack. Not very customer centric or a great experience when Better Hearing can't maintain their appointment times. Very frustrating for me and my wife who is also a new patient. if this continues we will leave and go to another provider who runs their practice much more efficiently for a better patient experience and respect for our time. Overall not impressed. First visit and testing was unfriendly and flat. And that was with the owner I believe. My specialist was personable but not efficient. Long sessions lots of testing with little results of feeling like my apparatus was tuned properly. We only tried one kind. (Is there commission or bonus? Or just lack knowledge of range of options out there?) Never followed up after purchase. When I called in for help a month later-- simple request-- the response was no we don't have that -- not "no sorry or let me see what I can do and get back to you or here's what I suggest you do..." Nope none of that! I visualized two hands slapping off the dirt and dust of the final sale with a "well that's done....Next?" I'm fairly young resilient and resourceful. About 5 years ago Tamara, a medical school graduate and audiologist, fit my 86 year old mother with Lyric hearing aids, which are tiny foam wrapped integral battery devices placed inside the ear canal. There is a volume control remote, but we quit using it once Mom became accustomed to normal hearing. They're leased instead of purchased, so replacements, updates, and related office visits are included. The annual fee seemed pricey at the time, but hearing quality and ease of use, especially for seniors, continues to be worth the cost to us. The office is orderly, efficient, and staffed with pleasant helpful people who seem to like their jobs and their customers. Tamara is always patient and relaxed, and great at programming/fitting Lyrics properly, which is crucial. I recommend without hesitation. The office Dr was very unfriendly to us. He was a very rude and did not care about the patient's feelings. He gave the patients the hearing aids at max volume. The patient told the doctor that it was too loud but the doctor just ignored the patient. The patient's ears felt very hurt and uncomfortable. He didn't even greet us or say hello to us in the begining when we arrived. We didn't like the service and don't recommend it. read more

The whole staff and audiologists are great. The Lyric aid is expensive, but no more than other quality hearing aids, but the difference is that the Lyric is worth it! Convenient and it works better than any other aid used in the past. I will not give it up! Not for everybody - wife found it too uncomfortable, so went with conventional type from the same group at CSG, and had acceptable results. I have been using a Lyric for almost 2 years and I've been happy with it for several reasons. It's ease of use and hearing improvement are very good. Originally I had trouble adjusting to it because of skin sensitivity and a difficult ear canal but Tamara was outstanding in her patience and skill and after 6 months I was able to finally wear them with ease. The only concern I have with Lyric is that it doesn't depress background sounds in noisy places enough for me the way digital is now doing and I may find that technology an improvement. However, I cannot say enough about the wonderful caring and professionals at CGS. They are wonderful and I recommend them every chance I get. read more

Had to wait several weeks for an available time slot for a hearing test. Took half a day off to bring my elderly mom to this place. Was asked to come in on time, which we did. Spent over an hour to see the audiologist (Mark). Was told a number of times by his assistant that he was running late, but he would be able to see us today. Finally, we were told that "Mark was getting nowhere", so we had to leave. We never lost our temper, but we did mention to the assistant that it was completely irrispenctful to treat us like that. The worst part is that we could hear Mark all this time talking to some tech support on the phone, trying to fix some app on an iPad for one of his other clients. Do yourself a favor - save some time and stay away from this place! read more

This is rare for me to write a review but I believe in rewarding excellent service. I had a dome detach and get lodged in my ear canal and called and made an apt with CSG Better Hearing Center. It wasn't my first call as I had called a different hearing center closer to my home 30 minutes earlier but with no answer and no call back, I called CSG. They answered the call, advised me of the office visit cost and we set an apt. for 3 hours later. I met with Tamara who was delightful. She took all if 15 seconds to retrieve the lost dome and then she asked if I would like an ear wax removal service as I was paying for an office visit and the retrieval took so little time. I agreed and she proceeded to professionally take care of wax removal (Quite substantial) at no extra cost. I called to get a quote (to give me a complete hearing test for comprehension and the reprograming of my resound linx's hearing aids) $280 was the total. I thought this was very fair as it she said it would take around an hour. I made an appointment for the filling Monday. I Drove 45min to their office, filled out the paper work and was taken to a patient room. I was then asked where I got my hearing aids. I let her know I bought them online had a local hearing test done and sent it in and had them adjusted and they were sent to me. She said after closing the door this changes the price of the quote, adding the person who talked to you on the phone did not ask enough questions. She informed me it would now be $500. I asked why. She said because you did not have them programed in person and they have to start all over with them. I let her know that is what I told the person on the phone I wanted a complete reprogram. She said she misquoted you $500 is the price. I then asked since you misquoted me is there anything you can give on? She said no. I let her know another $230 to have the aids reprogramed is kind of high. She then informed me that it is $500 for each device! $1000! I walked out. I told them to shred the papers I filled out. Very unprofessional. I will never call them or recommend them and since I took the day off for this appointment and have some time now, here is your review CSG Better Hearing:) Train your employees and or do not give quotes over the phone if you do call them estimates. I have been wearing hearing aids that I purchased from CSG Better Hearing Center about two and a half years ago. Although I was not successful with the first set of hearing aids I tried, my audiologist suggested I try a different company, explaining that each manufacturer's hearing aids process sound differently. I was skeptical but decided I had nothing to lose because I would get a full refund if I kept nothing. What a surprise when I received the new hearing aids. They were a perfect match for me. The moment I tried them on I could tell the difference. Although I came back during the trial period for a minor adjustment, I couldn't have been happier with my new hearing aids and for the expert service and knowledge of my audiologist. Since then I come in every six months to have my aids checked and cleaned at no charge. I have seen each of the CSG audiologists at least once and find them all to be outstanding. read more
