The setup has a wow factor as you enter the basement level of the building through a tunnel covered in plants and leading straight to your first photo opp! The circle with pink bench is a cute preview of what's inside. Once you check in with the hostess, enter through a door and welcome to the social club. Beautiful decor that mixes a level of sophistication with a little drama as you see the bright lights. Plenty of seating and even a private room that can be rented out. The drinks are phenomenal and the staff is friendly! The menu offers a mix of unique cocktails (and can be made as mocktail a too) and small bites. Upon recommendation, I tried the F.W. Marg drink. So good! The most unique aspect is the watermelon ice cube. As it melts the drink flavor changes. Creative & fun way to enjoy a cocktail. They open at 5pm, which would be a great spot for chill happy hour. Later in the evening, you'll experience more of a lounge/club vibe. Great edition to downtown CLE!

I'm so happy we did because Stella made sure we had a stellar time (she put the Stella in Stellar? Sorry, nerd status) and the food provided was super fresh and the staff was so attentive. We had a pretty large group all come in at once and they got us through quickly with our first round of drinks! The ambiance is intimate enough where you can step aside to a table for a nice convo or large enough to create a dancing space where we you're at... which was exactly what some of us did because the music was just too tempting. From a more organized event to a late night par-tay mentality, the subtle and eclectic vibes of Lost put you in the right head space. Highly recommend!

I was able to visit in a recent trip to the city and would recommend it to those going for a visit as well. Located in the House of Blues, you'll have to enter through the 4th strewn door and head straight to the back. Most "speakeasies" I have visited in the US are pretty obvious (like someone sitting in a chair, directing you to a set of stairs behind them to enter the "speakeasy"), but with the entrance to this one tucked away behind a place with live music and food, it had more of an authentic feel. The friend with me that night even questioned if we were in the right place as I strolled to the back of the restaurant and walked up to the girl seated at a podium. "Excuse me, but is this the way to the foundation room?" I asked her. She affirmed, and we were soon on our way up an elevator. When we got to the second floor, we were promptly greeted by a host, Julius, who showed us around. The decor is sumptuous, a blend of Moroccan, Indian, and Jacobean flair. After checking out a room with relics from an Indian temple and looking at the rooftop (with an Instagram-worthy floral wall), we decided to grab a cozy spot near the bar and ordered a drink. As we sipped on our Old Fashioneds, Julius came by to check on us, and we watched the place fill up with an array of people in a festive mood. It was a lovely way to end a night in Cleveland, and a place I highly recommend that you check out when you're in the area!

We parked at the public park garage near the Marriott. You can take the elevators to the main level in the hotel.. walk outside and then across the street to the venue. For 5hrs it only cost us $8! There were vendors scattered from the main room to a side conference area. They even had room set up for a live band and Chinese raffle. This place is huge! There was quite a bit of seating (I expected there to be no seating). They also had some tables set up that you could stand by without sitting. The bathrooms were very clean and modern. Security was present, they kept the even safe & secure. I loved visiting this time of year because of the Christmas lights outside in public square. The venue also had a large woodsy type of lit up tree in the middle. The entire building is mostly glass with tall, very tall ceilings. My only negative is that is got hot in here, fast. There were a lot of bodies but it seemed as maybe the ventilation wasn't able to keep up. Just need better temperature control.

RJF President’s Club - Porterhouse steak, not good

Started with the Playhouse Square salads, which were both good. The special tonight was a bone-in Porterhouse steak, mashed potatoes and broccolini I decided to try. The steak was super thin, and cut on the plate. If I were eating a steak sandwich, it would have been good, but not as an entree. The server promptly took it away and assured me the strip steak is a more traditional steak I would like. That was brought and it still wasn't overly thick, but it was tough and smothered with a peppercorn sauce. Now, if you need to smother a steak with a sauce, something is wrong. The wife had the seared scallops and shrimp (2 of each) over couscous. She said it was delicious and offered me some, but I didn't want to take any of her 4 crustaceans off her plate. Had the Oberon Cabernet with dinner. It was okay, but nothing special. It was also as good as they got with wines by the glass. I would expect a place that is trying to be as elegant as the RJF President's Club to have a better wine list. Nonetheless, our server was friendly and fast. I saw plenty of management walking the floor, but no one came to the table other than our server. She did adjust the check to take the more expensive porterhouse off the tab and replaced it with the strip. I was good with that, though surprised that the porterhouse was priced so high to start with. It should have been priced less than the strip.

Well, things got a little busy and before I knew it I was bogged down with work and school. Thanks to Cara for posting up the Learn to Row info up on Yelp and giving me that little extra push to head down there now that I have more time. The LTR program goes over one day (about 7:30 - 2) and covers everything beginners need to know about rowing on the river in Cleveland (and it also reminds a few of us who have done it before of things we may have forgotten). A little bit of a classroom session with Erik and then down for a boathouse tour and some work on the erg's before hitting the water. The boathouse is beautiful.....and they just moved in a little while ago after the old boathouse burned down. They have a lot of room here and are working hard to improve the area and make it into a Riverfront Park that everyone can enjoy. Lots of room for boats (so many places row out of here: high schools, colleges and universities along with the master rowers and private members). The only thing that I wish the boathouse had, is a nice indoor rowing tank, then it would be complete! For the rest of the day, you'll be out on the water in your 8 with a couple of experienced rowers and a coxswain along with your coach alongside in the launch. They'll teach you everything basic about getting the boat in and out of the water and the fundamentals of the stroke.....and how not to get run over or swamped by the 7-story high ships that come down the Cuyahoga! After such a fantastic day out on the water, I knew I had to sign up for the rest of the summer....these people are fantastic, in reality, it seems more like the Hash House Harriers...they're a "social club with a rowing problem". The group camaraderie was so amazing that I even convinced a fellow Yelper to join up with me too....and I anticipate an excellent summer out on the water! They still have two more Learn to Row programs before the summer rowing league starts up so come on out and give it a try ;o)

For more than a hundred years, all of our speakers--from sitting presidents to community activists--have answered unfiltered, unrehearsed questions directly from the audience." Yelptern Madison S and I recently attended the Silent No More: #MeToo & the Music Industry hosted by the Rock Hall in support of Rock Week. As usual, the panel was well-executed and interesting, we made fabulous connects and walked away feeling inspired about Rock Week. When you attend a City Club Forum, you are also served lunch. Seating is first come unless your purchase a full table, and staff will validate your parking. These two hour events really fly by because they're truly an enjoyable time. You can pay to become a member or else there's a slightly higher price for an event if you're a nonmember. An average cost for an event looks to be around $22 if you're a member and $37 for nonmember. There are different tiers of membership, but the student membership is only $25 and still includes member pricing -- that sounds like a great deal for the amount of students in the area. Some of the events do get sold out -- looking at the forum calendar, 3 of the next 10 or so events are sold out. My husband and I have attended events here and the food for a lunch talk is excellent. (Not sure if this food was specifically catered by those who hosted event or if City Club provides same food to all events). The event was well-run by those working, easily passing microphones around for questions and controlling for questions. No flaws in the event -- I've run a big conference and I know how much work this. My husband's law firm helps support these such events so we ended up at a sponsored table, but all of the tables of the venue we were in had a great view (more horizontal to stage than vertical -- make such a difference). An event we attended with Judge Sutton on his book "51 Imperfect Solutions" was covered by C-SPAN. The building entrance is a little unnoticeable and as it's right by the eye-catching big red banners of the CVS, it is easily missed. Once inside, there's an information/security desk and several floors for events. Check it out! There's limited street parking in the area, a parking garage half a block away (Euclid Prospect, literally just on the other side of the CVS), or two hotels (Kimpton and The 9) if you'd just want to valet. Higher level memberships include free valet parking by the club.
