On our way up to Stowe, VT from Saratoga Springs, NY, I had read about this place while planning a trip to VT. Every trip includes food stops, and this happened to be our first ! So while this place makes an impressive selection of cookie flavors, of which we availed ourselves to most flavors, we also weren't about to leave without getting a maple creemee (Vermont's answer to soft-serve ice cream). We didn't care that it was before noon, and we hadn't even eaten lunch. The creemee was AMAZING !! The maple flavor was beautiful, and mixed with the creamy goodness of the soft-serve, WOW is all I have to say. Just WOW !! So glad I read about this place and made a point of stopping. As for the cookies, we bought one of each of most flavors they offered. I couldn't make up my mind, so I picked the following: Snickerdoodle - sugar cookie with cinnamon First Love - chocolate chip Puppy Love - peanut butter chocolate chip Mother's Love - butterscotch with chocolate chip True Love - oatmeal with dried cranberries Enduring Love - coconut, oatmeal, chocolate chip, almond and dried cranberries There are about 4 other flavors we didn't get on the day we were there. They also serve other flavors of creemees, and all kinds of hard ice cream, too, but I didn't care about any of that. I got what I wanted and was real glad I did !! By the way, we didn't get to the cookies until a day or two later, and they were still really fresh and moist ! Find your way here. You'll be soooo glad you did.

This place is so dang cute!! Stopped on a whim seeing it driving between Stowe and Lake Placid. I…read moreordered the mother's love, true love, and enduring love, and they were all tasty!! Great consistency with a soft center/crispy edge! Employees were also SO nice! We just grabbed to-go, but there was no wait on a Thursday evening in October!

Locally owned and independently operated bakery with a counter dining experience. A no laptop policy keeps things flowing and encourages folks to talk vs work. Breakfast menu is available all day while lunch starts at 11 and goes until close at 3p. We tried a few things: * croissant - super flaky and perfectly made. * breakfast sandwich - with sausage. Buttery and crispy edges toast with fried egg and melted cheese with sausage. One of my favorite breakfast sandwiches ever. * banner eighteen - a play on cheesesteak with broccoli mushrooms and shaved steak in a sesame hogie. This one had slight spice and a slight taste reminiscent of a combination pizza. It's a big sandwich and quite tasty. * oatmeal raisin cookie - not too sweet which I loved. Chewy. * fresh baquette. Bread . . . . . * maple lemonade - slightly sweet with a good bit of tartness. It was good! I'd definitely comeback here if I'm craving some sandwiches

We tried out August First when visiting the Vermont area at the recommendation of a local. We came…read moreduring a busy lunch rush, and although the cafe was crowded, the line moved quickly and we received our food fast as well. We tried the eat the east breakfast sandwich ($11) and the vermonter sandwich ($16). I especially liked the vermonter sandwich and the bread it came on. The cafe also sells various bread items and baked goods. One thing to note is that since the cafe is counter-serve, seating is also first come first serve. We were able to snag a seat right as someone left, but for that reason I would recommend coming at a less peak time if able. August First is deservedly a busy spot in Burlington and I would be there often if I were a local.
