I was going to a yelp event when I saw BETTYS was still on atlantic avenue. Felt a bit of nostalgia. ( when I was pregnant 13 years ago i had tried there lemon square and pecan square and was totally addicted) Went inside it was almost 6:30 . I looked at the goodies and the lemon square was there but this time it was lemon /coconut I decided to try it. I was telling the gentleman I was so happy they were still there I had gone over 10 years ago. He wasn't nice but wasn't nasty he was like oh they sold in 2015 to new owners . So I asked if they had the pecan squares he said no but i have brownies with walnuts I said what the heck let's try he put it in a bag and gave me my total and i paid . I kinda hate when it ask for a tip cause you literally just put the item in a bag but it's the holiday season so I added $2 for tip . He has walked away and told me there was napkins and he was holding the door. I was a bit appalled. I'm guessing they were closing anyway it was a strange interaction. When I got home i realized he gave me a blonde NOT a brownie with walnuts. I tried my lemon bar it was good but now how I remember.

Acquaint, friendly neighborhood bakery. I've gone in many times for cupcakes, which are always moist and delicious. The cookies are also yummy. I found the pie a bit dry. Yesterday I picked up a carrot cake for an event. I came in last minute but, they still were very helpful in terms of writing something special on the cake. Yes, it was pricey, but everyone loved it and asked for seconds. My iced matcha latte was good too. The cashier was very helpful. Betty, I will be back again!

I ordered a dozen specialty cupcakes for our friend's 60th birthday - I really needed these cupcakes to be OVER the top with color, glitter and lavish icing as our friend wanted the most flamboyant cupcakes ever. Betty Bakery DELIVERED! These were the best, most insane, beautiful and DELICIOUS cupcakes - we couldn't have asked for a more perfect way to celebrate our friend. We even were able to get a few gluten free - we'll be coming back here for our future celebrations!

Omg my fellow yelper foodies ...... This amazing bakery has it all sweet & savory going on ..... I've know about this place for years .... always stooped in for an awesome cupcake but today to my surprise they have an entire selection of delicious mini individual savory pies .... We tried their Shepherds pie which was delicious; we tried their Beef Empanada pie another home run & their Steak & Cheese we couldn't tell ya which pie we liked better unbelievably awesome goodness real stick to your ribs especially on this rainy day .... they had another 6 varieties............ They are very satisfying & filling their pie crust bottom & top is flaky & buttery ..... we are old school Pot Pies lovers .... $ 8.00 each ... Then we tried their white coconut cake slices @ $7.95 a slice; so fresh the white cake had the perfect texture and the coconut vanilla frosting & filling is perfect not over whelming sweet you can taste the butter in their cream .... Then we tried one of their Chocolate Salted Carmel tart ... smh, if I knew how delicious this was gonna be I would have never shared this one ... the tarts crust was so buttery and the chocolate filling was divine .... Last but not least we tried two of their S'mores Chocolate Ringtings .... another home run... @ $4.50 each ... This is a small shop who puts all their love into every item they bake .... I'm just gonna go ahead and say it...I don't even know if Cheryl Kleinman is still here- but that woman rocks when it comes to cakes and pastries!!!! I'll try to briefly level with you my love for Cheryl Kleinman. When I searched for a wedding cake 10 years ago, I wanted it to be the best. May have spoken to Cheryl (or someone else) about flavor options for our summer wedding cake. Based on the lemon, Almond and carrot cake selections and desired frosting, my girl Cheryl was able to fit us in for a Saturday taste test. The thought she put into the 3 mini individual testers took me to a pastry heaven I've never been before. In the end, we settled on the Almond...but the transportation cake fee from Brooklyn to Crabtree's Kittle House in Chappaqua was through the roof, sadly we backed down but happily opted for La Tulipe in Mt. Kisco. Fast forward to Pandemic 2020 and feening for something sweet. Betty's isn't Vegan- all I said was, "f*ck it". They're doing pick up and delivery with no mail order option. I emailed them and received a call from (Dakota...sorry for the misspelling man), a few back and forths, told him what I wanted, received an email invoice, I paid and received my goodies intact. Just be mindful, there is a delay and got my box in a little over a week. My 'Twinkies' were so light and the taste unique- I cant even put it into words. Chocolate Chip Cookies? Nice size and buttery flavor. But I expected them to have that 'chewy in the middle- crispy edge' feel. These were flat and crumbled all over me. Again- I'm not sure who's the pastry chef here, but- one 'large' cookie goes for $3.75 a pop and expected a higher-end cookie. Listen, customer service is solid but Betty B. might still pulls all the stops with only their cakes, pies- not cookies.

Betty bakery is a cute, quaint spot with lots of offerings-- cupcakes, cookies, savory pies, cake slices and coffee/espresso. I purchased 6 cupcakes and a cookie and it was around $35. I was a bit put off by the price, since the cupcakes are relatively small -- but had purchased these items as a gift and am aware that the price of everything has gone up recently. There were several cupcake flavors to choose from- including strawberry frosted, red velvet, carrot, vanilla and chocolate. Once the cupcakes were brought home, we noticed that the frosting also acted as a filling for each cupcake-- whaaat! It was great to have the extra frosting to enjoy.

Dakota, one of the owners and who runs foh, makes you feel like you have just been invited into his home the minute you step into this deliciously smelling and adorably decorated bake shop. I was on a mission to find the best carrot cake in the 5 boros but looking at all the other cakes they also had available this day, I could not resist just ordering a whole carrot cake but also ordered a slice of the other four on hand as well. To top it off, they do a beautiful balance of sweet things and savory things, so had to try their Shepard's pie (they have a vegetarian version of this too), their Brazilian chicken pie made with housemade Sofrito, and their new beef chili pie as well. My pics are of all of their sweets only because the savory pies we devoured by my three sausages when I got home with them. They literally licked each disposable pie dish clean, so I'm going to say they were delicious and a huge hit. Onto the sweet! We loved their carrot cake frosting, I'd eat that alone with a large spoon every day. The carrot cake portion was very good however we all agreed it had a bit too much sweetened coconut flakes in it. In fact, we all LOVED the coconut cake but wished more of the sweetened coconut flakes were used in this one instead. The red velvet cake definitely is a winner and on par with some of the well known versions that other bakeries in this city are known for exclusively, their lemon cake was to die for! Soft yellow cake with a tender crumb with a perfect ratio of a lemon curd and a real vanilla buttercream filling, it was heaven. I have to say that their showstopper is really their valrhona chocolate cake!! Rich AND light at the same time, it hit all the orgasm spots. Stop in and support local small businesses! And while you're at it, donate to Pie it Forward :Betty Bakery 's way of giving back to essential workers during this pandemic by providing healthy meals and decadent desserts! Can't wait to be back!

Best in BKLYn!!! Looks like nothing from the outside, but it's worth every bite, don't think twice! Everything is good Good Good Good. The best cup cake is the red velvet, the carrots cake is also one of my fave. The make cake upon request. Haven't tried the savory pies yet, but it's next on my list.

I ordered the red velvet cake for 50$. It was actually very good and moist. It was very sweet but red velvet cake is usually always sweet. Everyone that had a slice enjoyed the cake. Would definitely get it again if in the mood for red velvet cake or maybe I'll try a different cake. read more

Stopped in to pick up some sweet treats for mi familia. The store is very cutesy looking and the staff is friendly. The pig and cow marzipans are adorable (but I didn't buy one). Of course everything looked yummy. Finally decided on a slice of strawberry shortcake, ring ding, traditional apple cake and a red velvet cupcake. My bro liked the ring ding. My sis enjoyed the strawbeery shortcake. To me, everything was just alright. The red velvet cupcake was nowhere as good as the one I had the day before. Apple cake was alright and I thought the cake for the Strawberry Shortcake was a bit dry. The cakes and treats didn't do much for me but walking into the place did give me a 'happy feeling'. I have to say if you want a yummy custom cake for whatever reason go to Bettys Bakery. I knew I wanted to do something nice for my husband and get him a custom cake. Since he's into comics, I figure I see about getting him one for his milestone bday. I had a few calls with the main person who handles the orders and I told her I wanted a superhero cake. In turn she sent me some ideas by email and I told her I wanted a Batman cake instead of Superman. Long story short when I went to pick it up and I had a look at it I was super excited. I knee right there my husband was going to like it and he did. I got nice flavors that worked well together and it was a hit all around. The cake was just right and the icing wasn't overly sweet which was perfect. Plus the price was just right. I had a budget of $100-$200 and it met right in the middle. Will gladly do business again!!! read more

Red velvet? Eh I'm not usually a fan of this dessert. Red velvet from Betty? oh my .. Now we are talking about a whole different ball game. This will be the best red velvet cake or cupcake you will ever try! I was lucky to find them as their cakes are not just delicious but look so elegant for any occasion. Best part? I get to finish off the decorating touches. Anytime I get this cake .. It's always a crowd pleaser. As per the other desserts .. You can't go wrong .. Delicious! Now I am just waiting for the summer to try their key lime pie. If your thinking about which bakery to indulge in some guilty desserts .. Look no further. No one working in the store was wearing gloves or masks. They limited the number of customers but it was disturbing to see there was no protection on the workers. We wanted to try and support a local business during this tough time but don't think I'll be back. We sanitized all the external packaging but genuinely afraid catching coronavirus from their food items. Please reconsider your no mask/no gloves policy. It's a shame with 10k+ already dead in NY alone a business would be so careless. read more

Excellent mini banana cream pie- fluffy cream and crumbly pie base. The cookies were also quite flavorful, especially the cinnamon (I think) with the pistachio-vanilla topping. Minus a star for the bored-looking and annoyed-acting counter help. (She's a young Hispanic woman). read more

I have mixed feelings about this bakery. On the one hand I love supporting a local bakery with their own take on childhood favorites (like Twinkies and Ring Dings -their cupcakes are good if not a little dry and the frosting is delicious). I always overlook flaws in product if the service is welcoming - I chalk it up to a cross between being from Brooklyn and being taught about Middle Eastern hospitality growing up. Attitude matters when someone is in your home. The three times I've been here the women at the counter were just a little dismissive, disinterested and didn't seem like they wanted to answer any of my questions about the products I wanted to buy. Wouldn't you want to know the flavor of the cupcake under that frosting? *shrugs* read more

High quality items with that impossible-to-imitate local vibe. Very fair prices for chocolate chip cookies, plus old school "ring dings" that are a new obsession. I have been searching for the best chocolate cake and red velvet cake in NYC.... and have come to the conclusion after tasting almost everything out there that BETTY has the Bestest CHOCOLATE CAKE and RED VELVET in the world! I used to think the Two Boots chocolate cake was the best... until we learned it came from BETTY!!! It's always a tough decision now when I go there to get something sweet- so torn between the two! I wish there was a way to get both at once! Service is great! Also had the strawberry shortcake- amazing!!! This is a great go to bakery- have everything you need/want! read more

My sister ordered a cake from here for my brother's bday. She got the red velvet cake but with chocolate buttercream. Since she custom ordered it with fondant, you cant refrigerate fondant, otherwise it will start melting, since we can put it in the fridge, you cant have the cake with the frosting it's supposed to come with (cream cheese). Either way, I'm not a big fan of cream cheese desserts so I was fine with it. The cake was nice a moist and also I loved the ganache crumb-coat frosting...I wished it was thicker, only because I love chocolate..haha. I also love the cookies from this place... read more

I love this place. Was in Brooklyn for the first time since the pandemic began and was sooo thrilled to find it still in business. I usually hate bakery made apple pie bc they add lots of goop. But their Apple pie is to die for. They only have it in season, but the other items are pretty scrumptious too. Keep them open!!! read more

Love love love this bakery. Their cakes and cookies are really moist and heavy, like grandma would make. They have little Twinks which are like twinkies, and something like a ding dong. My all time fav is the lemon bundt cake which is very lemony with just the right amount of sugar icing. Prices are on the high side (but I still keep coming) and closed Monday. read more

I have visited Betty bakey several times to feed my sugar addiction. The customer service is always great and their red velvet cupackes are AMAZE Balls!!! So good. I was so impressed by their cupcakes that I decided to order my wife's 30th birthday cake from Betty. I ordered a custom made Harry Potter cake, large enough to serve 10 people. It was pricy but it was worth it because it came out eactly how I described my vision! The sorting hat, the wand, and the glasses looked awesome on the cake! Harry Potter's scarf was wrappped around thebottom of the cake and it looked AWESOME! All the items were hand sculpted in tasty fondant. My wife LOVED the cake and everyone said it was yum! I prefer the cupcakes to the cake only because I think the cupcakes are far more mosit but the cake was very nice. The fondant used on the cake also tasted yummy! Pricey. However, it will fulfill any sugar cravings you may have. Had the oreo cake slice and the red velvet cupcake. Both were decadent and flavorful. They also have free wifi, some seating and tap water (upon request) read more

Great place, reasonable prices. Excellent savory pies for dinner or otherwise - chicken, bacon and egg, etc. They can heat things up there, and unlike most places it won't even be cold in the middle! Flakey crusts, delicious sauce (for chicken). Cake was good too. read more

Red velvet cake( best I ever tasted), $5 for a slice. Strawberry shortcake( this is the closest from the cakes from back home,France), Old fashioned plum cake, Valrhona chocolate cake. Quality is not what it used to be. I have been a loyal customer of Betty's for many years. It started over 13 years ago when Cheryl Kleinman made my wedding cake, through the years we have indulged in twinkies, ring dings and have gone to Betty's as our go to cupcake supplier for my daughter's birthday parties. My how the once mighty have fallen. Just 2 years ago the unicorn cupcakes I served at my daughter's party were the most memorable part of the party - beautiful and delicious. This year the cupcakes were an utter disappointment. They looked like super market cupcakes (at nearly $4 each!) and tasted awful - even the kids didn't want them. I didn't know the bakery had changed management/ownership prior to ordering but as soon as I saw the cupcakes I knew something was off. They looked nothing like the cupcakes we had purchased over the years and didn't even look like the photos they have online. Wish I read the other reviews before I ordered but after so many good years never occurred to me! Please let me save you the $ and disappointment - go elsewhere! read more

Betty's is such a darling little place. I stopped in on my way to Atlantic Terminal and picked up a couple cookies to munch on. The lemon shortbread cookie the [super sweet] ladies recommended was really tasty. Perfect amount of tart and sweet. This petit bakery serves up some 5 star service and quality hidden right on the skirts of downtown brooklyn. As with any bakery the it is just an amazing thing to get a baked good while it is still slightly warm. I give this place high marks because I tried a mixed berry muffin that was simply amazing. They make really good cakes and pies but if you want something custom it might take a few days. Just remember that the really good ones are worth waiting for and I believe that their cakes are. Their coconut cake doesn't have the trashed coconut that you are used to seeing on cheap Entenmanns cakes. Instead they are shaved the size of almonds and make for an amazing slice. read more

I'd walked by Betty Bakery many times and finally seized the opportunity to stop in. It's located on Atlantic Ave and offers beautiful window displays that change with the season/holiday. They seem to be most known for their cakes and they're beautiful and can be customized for your event. As it was just me, I opted for a single cupcake. Vanilla on vanilla and it was very fresh and tasty. Other options included pies, cookies, rice Krispy treat, and individual cake slices. Prices were commensurate with most higher end bakeries in this area. Would definitely recommend for a special event where you want to showcase a one of a kind cake! read more

I was so excited walking in seeing all the beautiful cakes, pies and cookies. Wow! I am going to have a hard time deciding what I should get! After consulting with my daughter we settled on two cookies: good old chocolate chip and a red velvet. They looked great and smelled wonderful but they tasted horrible. So dry it took some muscles to break it. Excitement turned into extreme disappointment. I ended up tossing about $5 into the garbage. Shucks! read more

I can't comment on the Red Velvet Cake that I wanted to purchase because it wasn't in stock. It was early in the day and they didn't have any red velvet cake WTF, furthermore they weren't sure if they were making any, so we just left. It was very frustrating waiting outside on the street (on Atlantic Ave.) because they only allow 1 person in the shop due to Covid, however we noticed there were a bunch of them huddled together in the back. We wasted about 15 minutes to get nothing, but frustrated. The worst customer service of all of the bakeries in the area. Don't waste your time to buy some overpriced baked goods and receive poor customer service from Betty. read more

All good things must come to an end...Betty has been my favorite bakery for the last 7 years or so. When they changed management a few years ago I was skeptical as to whether they would keep the same recipes and standards. Over the years I've noticed a steady decline in quality but not bad enough to stop going. Today was probably that point of no return. I ordered a slice of the lemon Bundt cake and the old fashioned apple cake. The lemon cake was completely soggy at the bottom and sweet beyond what's edible. The old fashion which has always been my favorite was tasteless. This bakery charges a pretty high premium on their baking goods. When their products stood out it made it ok rationalizing paying almost $7 for a slice of cake. Now that it's like Costco quality, pricing is definitely hard to swallow. read more

Although we have lost a lot of business we are adjusting to focus on providing excellent meal solutions for families via take out or delivery. We specialize in making quality pastries from scratch and providing excellent Sweet and Savory items. Though we all are having a hard time during this pandemic, birthdays and other celebrations continue to happen. We are here for your small celebrations and everyday needs. Come in for coffee, lattes, home made twinkies, cookies or savory hand pies. We've extended our hours as other establishments have been forced to close.

The challah bun completely overwhelmed the sausage, and the cabbage topping plus crispy fried onions didn't add any moisture. The accompanying sauce was tahini-based, so it leaned dry as well instead of balancing everything out. On the bright side, it came with incredibly crispy fries and a delicious house ketchup that tasted much better than a standard bottled ketchup. Dessert was the soft serve, which was perfectly fine but nothing particularly memorable. For drinks, the mango cocktail with chili and lime was refreshing and hard to dislike. I also tried the fig arak drink. It was good and exciting to try, but I realized I'm just not much of a star anise person, so it wasn't really my style. The standout of the night was the restaurant's namesake cocktail, something wolf. Even though it's made with arak, I barely noticed it. The rum, passion fruit, and tropical flavors came together beautifully, making it taste like something you'd happily sip on a beach. Easily my favorite thing I drank that evening. Overall, given so many great restaurants in Brooklyn I might not come back to this but will say that it would be amazing to do a big group meal here - especially with the gorgeous views. Lasagna wasn't anything special in my opinion, but my family likes it, the spicy alla vodka was delicious, not too spicy, but spicy enough haha, the fettuccini was good, the bolognese was great and salad is always a yes for me. Almost forgot the bread, the complimentary bread is delicious. Service and vibe was great and super affordable!

Everything on the menu sounded good, but we decided on a couple of their specials. Started with the razor clams, which were cooked perfectly and topped with fresh herbs. We also had the fried soft shell crab sandwich with the side of Caesar salad. The sandwich was well balanced with the crunchy crab and herby aioli. The Caesar was light and refreshing. The fish and chips came with two fried filets of white fish and a basket of classic fries. The fish was lightly battered and flakey. The house made tartar sauce was a good complement to it. Going to Greenpoint Fish and Lobster on a weekend is truly a mission. If you don't have a reservation chances are you'll be waiting around for a long time. They estimated 30min wait and it turned out to be over an hour. We were ready to walk away 3 times but ended up sticking around as we were promised we were third on the list meanwhile more than 3 parties were seated before us (strange!). Once we were seated, we ordered right away having had time to look at the menu while waiting. Crudo, dozen of oysters, clam chowder + lobster roll. - Crudo was a bit sad with 6 pieces of fish lying on a big plate with an insane amount of salt flakes. It was fresh but don't think it's worth ordering. - East coast oysters were puny. Very mid especially because I've recently tried some at Upstate that were amazing. They're incomparable. - Lobster roll. Okay should've just gone straight for the roll because it was perfect. Buttery and fresh with perfect balance of lobster roll bread. The salad dressing also was delicious. So good! Definitely highlight of this restaurant. - Clam chowder. Also 10/10. Hearty, flavorful. Loved every bite of it. Service was average. They weren't profoundly interested in giving best service instead just chatting amongst each other and dropping off plates. Also they forgot about the clam chowder we ordered and asked if we still want it.. YES..that's why we ordered it. Overall if you don't pay attention to those details it's worth coming for some great seafood. BUT I highly recommend getting a reservation.

I love frosting and believe that cake and cupcakes are mere carriers for frosting. The classic vanilla buttercream is outstanding here. The cupcake itself was moist and tasty. Otherwise, it can really vary. I don't care for the frosting on the red velvet cupcake, I wish it were cream cheese it was basically lard. Tried a gingerbread cupcake, the cake part was delicious, did not care for the frosting. I've been several times and have learned not to stray from what I like and know they do well for my tastes. One day I have to try the cheesecake. read more

I first tasted their cookies when a family member got a box as a gift. I was hooked and the next time I was in that area, I looked for it. I am so glad I did because I love their cookies - so light and tasty; and they have a good variety. I love their 50s decor too - just so cute. Their coffee and apple cider were very good. I mostly love their many cookies. I tried their red velvet cupcake and thought it was moist, but i am not a red velvet cake fan. I really liked their fruit tart. read more

Betty was fantastic for my last-minute order of a cake for my best friend's garden party. I wanted a basic cake with a sophisticated look, lots of whites and pastels, and Betty delivered. Ordering was easy, and the cake was ready and - for its basic vanilla approach - tasted much, much better than I expected. In the Summer beware of the cupcake bouncer! Tourists beware, this may be the most famous cupcake spot but it is not the best cupcake spot. Instead of a cupcake go for the ice box cake or the banana pudding. It's a piece and slice of comfort. Mmm mmm good. I wish there were seating available but this is just a grab and go spot. They keep the crowds moving and there is not much time to linger over the treats and baked goods. read more

Walked in Betty's while visiting a friend who lives nearby. And I was surprised in the good way! They not only got a wide variety of cakes, but also make them so moist and dense that you would immediately want the second piece even you are still working on the first one. My heart goes to the Velvet and Strawberry short cake. read more
