Have had well over 100 massages and I enjoy them very much as I work out and really enjoy a deep tissue massage. Have never posted a bad review for a massage b/c quite frankly, I have never had one until not. Visiting Columbus and me and a friend booked 90 minute massages. I had Janelle, my friend had a young male (don't remember name). This was by far the worst "deep" tissue massage I have ever had. She spent at least 25 minutes on my anterior neck digging fingers into my neck (WTH). Next she pinched the lower aspect of each pec major and it was painful and bizarre. I've been a client of Betty's for yearssss. I found her through a referral. My job causes all sorts of problems for my body, so I need frequent massages. I've been to so many massage therapists I've lost count. It's so hard to find someone really good. That listens and works on your issues. Once i found Betty there was no turning back. She is THE BEST! She just knows where your pain is and works it. I can't say that about the others I've tried. Most of them ask what you'd like to work on, then ignore everything you said. Or they just don't have the touch. Not Betty! She listened, she zeros in on it. She is the only reason I can even move. It is a waste of time to go anywhere else. I love Betty!! Frantically emailing massage therapists on a Sunday after pulling something in my back, I was distraught to get replies of "We're booked for the day, sorry! Check online for appointments!" I discovered (through Yelp) that there was an LMT operating out of Studio Elements -- a mere block from my house -- and decided to give it a shot. Betty replied asking how soon I could get there in the event of a cancellation ("IMMEDIATELY!!," I said). Assuming defeat, I whined and pouted on the couch. Around the time Betty's Body Shop was closing, I received another email from Betty apologizing that she couldn't fit me in same-day and offered to stay late the following day to help with my back. What. A. Gem. My experience at Betty's Body Shop was great, and the atmosphere was much more soothing and relaxing than the place I normally go. Betty was gentle and conscious of my sore spots while working out the tension. After the massage she gave me some tips and friendly reminders on posture and getting up out of my office chair to do some stretches so as not to find myself in the same position again. Parking was a breeze (they have a private lot) and prices ran comparable to other LMTs in the area. I went there for a deep tissue massage (for which they charge an extra 10 dollars). As I was leaving the masseuse apologized for not being able to go "deep" enough despite my repeated requests. The masseuse's final comments were "You like it real deep." I realize that walking cold turkey into a place like this (a massage/body shop or a First Choice Hair Salon etc.) can be hit or miss, but for an extra 10 bucks I was hoping for way more. Betty offered a freebie to make it up, but I went through so much and paid so much for the disappointment that I cant go back. Im not sure how it would be different anyways. If the freebie were transferable, I would give it to you because I think that they must do good work for other types of massage. read more

Came in for a Valentine's Day couples massage and had a wonderful experience. Betty was very professional and gave us the rundown before our massage. She even had a nice little wine and chocolate gift bag to give to my girlfriend as a Valentine's Day gift (no extra charge). The room was very nice and the beds were comfortable. There was music was very calming and lots of candles lit around the room. Our massages were only upper-body, but they did a great job of spending time and not rushing through. I could really feel a big difference after the massage. The only bummer was that the power was out (so our beds were not heated), but obviously that was out of their control and Betty handled the entire situation like a pro. The Salon Elements building was really nice and a really neat concept that promotes small business (which I love). After filling out a brief questionnaire, Betty and Sarah came out to get us and took us back to the massage room. The room was great and was easily as nice or nicer than some if the powerhouse salons around town. As for the massage, both my husband and I were very impressed (I got the relaxation massage and he got a deep tissue). I scheduled a couples massage for yesterday (Valentine's Day). Its been 10 years since my boyfriend had a massage and I had the worst experience at another "spa"....so needless to say, both of us NEEDED this and were really looking forward to it. We walked in and were thrown off of where to go but finally found the papers to fill out. Betty came over and talked to us to let us know that she would be a few minutes. We walked into a calming candle-lit room with relaxing music. Betty and another lady (I wish I remembered her name) came in to ask us what we were looking for with this experience. Betty gave me my massage and I knew within the first few minutes that it would be an amazing experience....overall it was nothing short of that. I scheduled a Birthday massage a month in advance only to be told after arriving on time, that they lost their keys, were locked out of the studio and that I would have to reschedule my appointment. Love this place! I've gotten at least one massage with every employee that they have and they've all been very pleasant! The business environment is very relaxed but still professional.
