This place is really a hidden gem. I only give it 3 stars because there is room for improvement, such as the decore is just basic and the chicken kabob tasted funny to me ( that's just my opinion, maybe it was just that day idk). Still with that being said I loved the beef kabob and the falafel I could eat all day. I want to go back and try other items and see which will be my favorite. Im Arabic and I feel this place has authentic food and worth giving a try and be adventurous and try something new, otherwise you'll never know what your missing. I say this to all the people who aren't familiar with middle eastern food. Give them a try, live alittle haha. I think the prices might be slightly high for what your getting but what do I know haha. We are here on the way back from the Bay Area. We wanted something "Ketoish" friendly. Yelp, you lead us here and did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was so full of flavor. The restaurant itself was clean. My wife had the steak and beef kabobs and I had lamb and chicken. The flavors are so good and on point. I substituted the rice for a salad. We also had the hummus which was delicious. My wife really liked the pita that came with it I ordered a side of cucumber for the hummus. Soup is value for money. $10.99 But the meal ( a dish with 90% RICE , one tomatoe and pepper grilled, and a piece of beef ( about 10 1/2 inch pieces of meat) NOT WORTH $23 dollars and tax. I walked in a near 7pm and they were closing. I was not looking for a 40 dollar tab, but made the decision to try their meal since I had not been in the place since Betty ( or owner) took over from the last proprietor. I was disappointed by what I received. That said, If I feel like a good soup, I will return just to buy that and take home, but prefer to go to other similiar locations for a full meal, or to my dearest friends to eat homecooking. We were wanting something different for dinner and happened to be in the neighborhood, due to a doctor's appointment. We were going to go to Mongolian BBQ, when I noticed the sign for Betty's Kabobs and thought we'd give it a try. So happy we did. The place looks clean and well maintained. The red, white and black color scheme is cute. The murals painted on the walls are nicely done and are in keeping with the aesthetic of the menu. The server was almost too attentive as he checked on us multiple times. He even chatted with us after our meal and asked if we had any problems or suggestions to make it better. We weren't the only people in the restaurant and it appeared he paid attention to them as much as he did us. Husband and I both had lamb dishes, although they were different. I love lamb, but don't get it very often. The food was delicious. The lamb was perfectly cooked and tasted really good. The accompanying rice was tender and well seasoned. I see someone else left a bad review on Yelp. All I can say is that person must have been having a very bad day, or they are extremely hard to please, because we didn't experience any thing like what they complained about. read more

Always order take out. Their kubideh plates are always consistent and delicious. I personally prefer the rice cooked longer in terms of grain doneness, so i just separate and steam for an extra 10-15 minutes on stovetop at home but thats all personal preference. Large servings last us through the next day and everyone happy. Try their fresh baklava if you see it. Havent dined in restaurant but im sure its just as good. read more

Came in on lunch break from work. Waited a few seconds before being greeted kindly by the woman in the front. She did a great job explaining all the options and her favorites. I ended up getting an order of the cabbage dolma and the Chicken & Beef Barg combination plate. Both were extremely good and extremely fresh. New weekly or bi-weekly lunch spot for me! I had dinner here for the first time tonight, and it was delicious! They were fast, friendly, and the place was clean and conveniently located. I had the falafel sandwich and a piece of baklava. They make the baklava fresh in house at least every other day, often daily, so it is fresh and delicious. It was the best I have had in town! I looked on yelp for Mediterranean food in Modesto and saw the great reviews and descriptions regarding food and service..then I headed over. I m getting hungry just thinking about it now and luckily have some leftovers from yesterday" s lunch there. The manager, Fred, greeted me as I entered and said sit anywhere. Every table was clean. Fred described the various menu items , and I got 2 chicken kabobs ..one breast meat, one dark meat. Both were delicious, but the dark meat was softer and juicier. The rice was perfect, and there was a grilledd tomato and grilled spicy pepper..the whole meal was huge and magnificent...succulent chicken, hot tasty veggies and firm tender white rice with yellow rice atop..i 'll post a picture. I had the Persian ice cream too because I really wanted to try it even though I had this huge feast too. The whole time I was there, Fred and his nephew Matthew were so attentive. I will definitely make this a regular dining spot, as I dine out most days at least once. I parked right outside the door, and Fred offered to help me to my car which was so polite..i use a cane to walk, so it's really nice to be offered assistance. A hidden gem! You know it's a going to be good when the owner works day in and day out. They homemake all of their food. My husband got the basmato rice with ground beef and chicken skewer. The ground beef was juicy and not fry at all. They marinate it before putting it fresh on the grill as you order it. I ordered the basmati rice with beef flank steak and chicken. I love it. The baklava is a dessert I tried for my first time, a flaky pastry like dessert incredibly sweet you only need two bites. Most importantly they serve bargs rootbeer!! With the pandemic no one can get bargs rootbeer love it. She even gave complimentary flat warm bread I ordered a side of cucumber yogurt sauce. Yummm! I love supporting small business. Please also try the Persian tea, she gives you a real sugar cube. Never seen one before. We will definitely be returning. Tip: portions are huge! Ordered here for the first time and got Lamb Kabobs-- my husband said that the service was good, but my order was not. My lamb kabob was overcooked that it was so tough to chew. Even after cutting those up into small pieces, my jaw still hurt. I gave up after 2 pieces and just threw the rest out. read more

The food is amazing! My go to's are chicken soltani with zeresk polo and ghorme sabzi. The food is always perfectly seasoned. Betty is friendly and welcoming. The portions are huge. It was my first time eating at Betty's and it will be my last. I ordered a Gyro sandwich on pita bread it tasted sooooo nasty. The bread was hard and crunchy and tasted old. The sandwich didn't have any flavor and It didn't even come with fry's and it cost $13. The service was slow and the place was near empty. Hello people reading this I am a person that never tries new places well suddenly I wanted to try this place it was a new cuisine I never tried I ordered a lamb wrap with fries and a fountain soda.well I got a lemonade and I was drinking it all the way home when I got home I opened my drink to eat the ice when I noticed a mosquito a small one inside my drink I felt all disgusted the food was ok service aswell....
