Hala food is a plus. Tried the chicken on rice, which was surprisingly really good, and I would order again. Even more surprising was that the falafel was different than what I'm used to, but I really liked it and would order again. Plan to try the pizza next time, which I was also surprised they had and kept seeing people come in to pick up a pizza.

Yummy Afghan food - we stopped by on our way to Tahoe. We tried the Qabuli palow (rice with meat and carrots/raisins), potato bolanee (they were out of leek), and my son got a halal pepperoni pizza.

Just tried this Afghan restaurant, and wow! The mantu was literally the best thing I've ever had. The lamb shank paired with the pulao was also incredible. For dessert, I had the ice cream, which wasn't too sweet just a perfect balance. Definitely check this place out, guys! And the prices are amazing; I've paid way more for just a plate of rice elsewhere. And the service was amazing.

The chicken Shawarma was so good. Great customer service..

Chicken Shawarma is so good that I wanna order another one. Customer service was excellent. Really nice people.

    Chicken over rice 10/10

Qabuli is very good even though it didn't come with the lamb shank. Didn't like the chicken gyro on the side...

The main dishes all came with a side of basmati or seasoned rice. The seasoned rice was very salty. Service was pretty much nonexistent. The staff just brings your food to you and doesn't check up on you. If you can get past the service and just go there for the food. Parking lot is shared with other businesses. 1 restroom.

Came here recently and honestly had a mixed experience. The bolani comes as either a half (6…read morepieces) or full (12 pieces) order that was strange when normally its just one order and its good for a bunch of folks. Flavor was all over the place -- a couple pieces had no salt at all, while others were way too salty. And the spicyness wasnt(aka chilli flakes) in the potato mixture wasnt spread well either. I got the triple kabob plate and the rice portion was surprisingly small compared to other Afghan spots. Chicken kabobs were inconsistent: some pieces were super salty, others were fine. The beef was tender, but not every bite had the same flavor. Chicken was tender though, cut well. Could have been flavored a bit more Plates overall felt smaller than what I'm used to at similar restaurants. Also worth mentioning -- they serve alcohol here, so if you're strict about halal, that might be a consideration. Since a place selling wine- not sure how strict they are on sourcing halal meat (hand slaughter for example). Also very pricey location compared to others maybe since they serve wine they catering to folks that drink who may spend more without caring All in all, not terrible, but definitely inconsistent and portion sizes could be better. Worth mentioning that all these de afghanans are not same - they have diff owners etc. Not bad seating, was empty for a sunday lunch at noon .

I'm not an authority on Afghan food so this is rated as an outsider…read more Overall the food can be summarized as: lightly seasoned, enjoy the simple flavors of each component, and Must use the sauces to complete the dish. I personally think everything needed some salt, but maybe it's meant to be this way. Highlight is most definitely the green sauce (yogurt and chili, not spicy), baklava (sweet sticky on the bottom and flaky crisp on top, not overly sweet), yogurt mint drink (dough). Shami beef and chicken kebab were juicy and not dry. Through a bit of miscommunication.. I was given the yogurt drink instead of the normal side of yogurt cucumber sauce for the meat, and was warned by Ali that some people don't like it since it's a yogurt drink with salt, but honestly it was great and was essentially a yogurt mint sauce I expect from other Mediterranean/Middle Eastern type places but more watery. So admittedly I just took sips of this while taking bites of the kebab and rice and it was pretty much the flavors I was looking for, but an extra step. Beef Mantu was another source of confusion since there are regular and homemade versions (I didn't realize). They made me the homemade version without confirming with me on the phone; no problem. It was filled with lightly seasoned beef and topped with interesting spices. Overall not bad not great, definitely needs sauce / salt. Too light in my opinion. And for $25 I wouldn't get again not worth it. The customer service from Ali was great. Knowing this was my first time he explained everything, offered to charge me less due to the miscommunications (I declined), and gave complimentary side of sauce and baklava as a nice gesture. Good food. I know how to order next time. Extra green sauce or yogurt drink all over.

Service was pleasant, and we received enough attention throughout the meal course. Great, open seating with the view on the Monument Boulevard, that was bright and comfortable. The outstanding Afghani food, and even better the desserts with saffron tea made this experience complete throughout. Would highly recommend Narunj Palow with thinly sliced dates. Turned out to be a little bit pricier than I thought it would be for a lunch, however, it really did worth it.
