Hello people reading this I am a person that never tries new places well suddenly I wanted to try this place it was a new cuisine I never tried I ordered a lamb wrap with fries and a fountain soda.well I got a lemonade and I was drinking it all the way home when I got home I opened my drink to eat the ice when I noticed a mosquito a small one inside my drink I felt all disgusted the food was ok service aswell.... This was my first time having this style of food and I really enjoyed myself. The man that helped me and my fiancé was very helpful and friendly, which made everything even better. Ok, I'm not going to lie, not in the best location, but you have to get it where you can get it. Slowly walked in because the sun was shining in the restaurant and I was hesitant (thinking I should get an appetizer and leave) looked so hot in there! But oh how I was wrong. I was actually shivering. What can I say?! I was wrong! Ordered some iced tea, I feel I have a palette like no other so when the owner asked me to guess the kind of iced tea I had for a free baklava, it was on. No I didn't guess it btw; actually I did guess all the ingredients, just not the name of the tea. So we got hummus for the appetizer. I'm eating it now as left overs, as it was a hefty portion for 5 dollars. It came out at perfect temp, great amount of lemon juice and garlic. Ordered two meals (as pictured) and both of us are big eaters - I'd recommend one app and a shared plate. People complain about the price but you will not find any other flavor like this in Modesto. No slight intended, but not impressed. The men working in the restaurant were very gracious & hospitable, but on my visit, the younger female working was not very friendly & came across as being the type that I should be thanking HER for being there to help me, instead of her being grateful for a customer, which sadly, they seem to be lacking. The decor is practically nonexistent, with the floor still to this day the same one put in by the original tenant of this spot, a Mexican restaurant. I like that their fries are the fatter, steak fry style. I ordered a gyros sandwich, and I'm sorry to have to say, it was the least impressive gyros I've ever had. Instead of soft, pillowy warm pita, it was wrapped in what I'd say was lavosh flatbread. Being a larger piece of bread, it does make for a larger sandwich, but I found the bread a bit tougher to eat. They are generous on the amount of meat in the sandwich, however. Overall, I might go back to try something else, or for a quick side of fries, but was hoping to be more impressed. read more

I've had Skewers and it is by far better than this place. I paid almost $90 for 3 meals! I ordered the Beef and chicken kabob plate and I got like 2lbs of flavorless rice, the meat looked like maybe half of a flap steak a d there was 4 or 5 pieces of chicken. The food looked great! But to my disappointment it lacked flavor, the steak and chicken tasted like it was cooked with a lighter. It had a unique propane or butane flavor. The staff were very courteous and polite that's why I gave two stars rather than one, but I don't think I'd come back for the food, maybe a slice of baklava because that did taste fresh and amazing! read more

Food was great. They gave big serving. The meat was good and well seasoned. The rice was the only downside. It could use more saffron. But aside from the rice, everything else was good, even the roasted tomato. Service was superb. We arrived 15 minutes before closing. We were still welcomed. Yes! Yes! All the way- yes! I'm so happy we found this place. Suuuper authentic kabobs and stews. And so much better than that OTHER kabob place in town, (better prices too). The koobideh was delicious, rice was just right and they have gheymeh!!! (Beef stew) I wish they put tahdig and mast o moosir on the menu as that would just put the icing on the cake. Wow! Betty deserves infinity stars! This is hands-down the best Persian food I've had in my life. I previously had an office in the jewelry district in downtown Los Angeles where there was killer Persian food everywhere you turned too. Betty's food was clean, hot and extremely high-quality. This was my first time there. I had the beef n chicken kabobs. The meat was cooked well done. I wish the server would have asked me how I like my meat cooked. I would have liked it medium rare. The chef came over and explained to me that he was debating how much he should cook the meat. He should have just asked. I didn't know I had a choice. Rice was okay, not much favor. The sauce for the meat was delicious. It was great to have the grilled tomato. Both the sauce n tomato helped alleviate the taste of the dry meat. Both the beef and chicken chunks were dry. We saw this place in the local paper and had to give it a try. We love Mediterranean food and this one hit the spot! We ordered the Beef Soltani and Lamb Kabob for our entrees and grape leave dolma and hummus for our appetizers and loved it. All very flavorful! The food took a little while to come out because it was handmade, and we totally didn't mind. You have to come and try this place! You won't regret it! We will come back! read more

All I can say that I was embarrassed to take my non Iranian coworker there. At 3pm we were the only customers and still took them 30 minutes to bring our food. We both ordered koobideh which was extremely dry and no flavor to it. The rice had a special odor/ flavor to it that we didn't like. Our hostess was polite and appropriate but we didn't care about the food at all. We were not happy that they charged a 4% fee for use of credit card. Welll, let me start off by saying I absolutely love quality, let me repeat, quality Persian food. I have traveled hours to go to the bay or Sac to get something decent. We stumbled on this place looking for something that wasn't packed due to it being Valentine's day and all. Ok let me also mention Im Middle Eastern myself and KNOW good quality ethnic food. We called to see if they are open for dine in and the woman who answered the phone was so so pleasant. Very welcoming. So we get there, nice family owned restaurant. Very quaint. The beautiful Persian music was playing. We ordered our food and sat down to eat. I have no words to describe how happy i am to FINALLY have a GREAT Persian restaurant close enough to frequent regularly. The food was superb. The kubede kabab was amazing. My husband ordered the steak and chicken kabob combo. Holy smokes. I was blown away. We ordered two more dishes to go for dinner. I want to try everything on the menu.
