In the four years, I've only had a few bad experiences where my lift didn't lift in the allotted time and came out too brassy. BUT I made my dislike for it and came back to fix it at another appointment. For $40 for root color and an additional price of $40 for highlights, it's really an affordable and easier way to get my color done without me having to do it myself. Since I have highlighted hair, I prefer to have a professional do it, rather than me try to struggle and do it myself, flipping my head in uncomfortable positions to get only the roots and not my blonde highlights. You have to be willing to a possible mistake happening but also make sure your voice is heard. Students have trainers who guide them but I've often found that you have to be vocal about what YOUR NEEDS are otherwise the instructors can sometimes make a decision on YOUR hair that you might not truly want. If they make a mistake or do something not to your liking, they are willing to fix it, at no cost as long as it's not a completely new & extra service. The vibe use to be really hip, but in recent years new instructors have come in & it lost its more hip vibe. I don't go there for the vibe tho, I go there for affordable hair care & services. Worth a quick princess day of treatment for a reduced price.

She would not or did not know that you should blow dry straight down instead of all over my head. I went to a teach to explain she just told her to make it dry. Well I have curly hair and it needs to be sectioned or parted to blow dry straight then flat iron. I went again to the teacher. She never came over to help or instruct the student. If they do not do certain types of hair or if they do not take suggestions than they should tell the customer upfront. They won't and do not do all types of hair and won't help the students.

The students were kind and clearly trying their best while learning new skills. The salon did seem short on some supplies during my visit, and communication from management could have felt a little more welcoming. I did end up needing to have my hair and nails corrected elsewhere, which cost additional time and money, but I still appreciate the effort the students put into their work and understand they are still in training.

Haircut- i wanted to get a trim, long layers, and face framing strands. I loved my haircut but it took much longer than i expected. I saw the reviews and people have said it took long so I made sure to have an ample amount of time, I was just starving haha. I appreciated the students for being so diligent and careful with the service. Instructors definitely knew what they were doing and checking the haircut. Would I come back? Yes i would. I lay down and basically the student put on the perm solution too early or did it poorly, no worries the instructor comes in and fixes it because they don't want to overprocess my lashes they don't leave it on that long that's fine. The student proceeds to do a poor hand massage and poor neck massage, that's fine, again learning. She then takes forever to clean up my eyes why because she applied the dye very poorly which required so much clean up that when I got up I still looked like a raccoon, that's fine, learning. I get up, my lashes didn't even curve. Not even a little bit. I'm upset obviously because I just spent 1.5 hours on this table to look EXACTLY THE SAME. The instructor comes in too explain what happened and again I get it but you didn't give me this explanation before I laid down? No disclaimers no nothing. She said okay my advisor isn't here but we want to make this right we want you to come in again and fix this. So NICOLE calls me this morning and is like I'm so sorry blah blah blah I was like okay I'll schedule my next appt, the instructor had mentioned complimentary. She's like no most we can do is 20% off, I was like alright please kindly leave me alone than.

I visited Texas Laser Academy to have my legs and underarms lasered. The first time I went, I was…read moreunable to receive service due to an issue that could have been spotted by a questionnaire in advance, obviating the need for me to drive there. The same thing happened the second time. The third time, I was given an iPad to fill out a form. I have a disability that makes it very difficult for me to type on an iPad or phone, so I asked for help with the form. The manager complained (in a very confrontational manner) that I did not fill out the form myself. I have never been treated that badly before or since. That manager is the only service person who has ever complained about my need for disability accommodations. When I suggested that all forms be sent to clients before the first visit, so problems could be noted and solved before clients had to drive to the studio, he became quite defensive. He showed no empathy. I have never been treated so badly by any service provider. I find it ironic that a manager at a school that teaches people to perform a service career would be so callous. My advice is that you consider driving up north to Austin's other laser school, where service is impeccable.

Torrey took his time to fix a terrible haircut my two year old got at Great Clips. He took his time and was very patient with my son. He was able to fix his hair and had him looking stylish again. The patrons were also very friendly and when it was time to pay, a patron named Anthony paid for my son's haircut. I tried to turn it down but he insisted. We will be back and I'm going to pay it forward the next time I make it out there.
