My daughters bike brakes recently loosened and just fell off her bike. Knowing absolutely nothing about bike repair and being super new to the area, I was close to just buying a replacement bike. Before that though I searched for bike shops and found Beverly bike and ski. I called in and scheduled a time for drop off after describing my issue. They were able to diagnose, repair, and return the bike to me in less than an hour. And it was only like 12 bucks! My husband and I brought our bikes in for a full tune up and clean prior to summer. I had my road bike serviced here in late July. Asked the guy helping me what would be the best way to resell my bike before leaving. He told me that the bike shop could attempt to resell it on my behalf (assuming they were interested in doing so) and quite naturally, get a cut. I called the next week and the person on the phone confirmed this information and told me to come in and speak with Paul. Fast forward to last week. Brought the bike in. Paul told me that they didn't do consignments. Really? That's interesting, seeing that your staff are telling customers otherwise. If you don't want to resell a bike, that's fine. Whether you choose to do so is based on your discretion. However, that neither addresses nor excuses the fact that I was told on two separate account that you all do. And now I'm here in the middle of my work day, wasting my time, because I was apparently given misinformation by your employees. This isn't even the worst part. Paul and the ignorant older woman on the floor tried to deny that anyone working there would give me said information. They even asked me if I was at the right bike shop. Are you kidding me? After I literally just picked up my bike from here and spoke to staff the other day. At this point, just stop. Have some decency. & have some self-respect. Be accountable for your employees. If they made a mistake, accept it. Don't try to shift the blame onto the customer. If you think I have any desire to be wasting my time out here in the middle of a pandemic over this type of nonsense, you are deeply mistaken. I'm disappointed more so than anything because I have been relying on this bike shop for decades. But for now on, I will be sure to tell everyone I know to NEVER come here. & I don't know what the old woman's problem is, but her attitude is disgusting. Never Again. read more

this is honestly the worst bike shop I've been to. I went a while ago and they took about a week on something that should take 30 minutes. today I checked the maps to see if it was open because I needed to fix something on my wheel and it was open so I strapped the wheel on my back and biked about 25 minutes to get it fixed and it wasn't open like wtf. another thing is they never have the stuff you need on the spot they always have to order it and it takes super long. I wouldn't recommend buying a bike here. All experiences are different but this is mine. I came to this bike store from the recommendation of family, plus I know the neighborhood. Day 1, I asked for a hybrid bike, and I was sold into a mountain bike. I brought the mountain bike back because it wasn't good for the lake shore path in which I intended to use my bike for transportation. The second bike is a hybrid, and it feels like it's just dragging. I'm not sure if all Giant bikes drag, but that was my experience for both bikes. I'm quite upset that my handle bar is off after 2 months of barely riding it. So at your own risk, I would really recommend another location. read more

I bought an electric bicycle online that needed a handle bar adjustment and flat repair. I took it to the other 2 bicycle shops in neighborhood area and the first one (103rd Kedzie) told me 2 weeks rather coldly and the 2nd shop on 95th said they couldn't work on bikes with gas or electric propulsion. I thought I was screwed when I took it here and saw signs that stated that tune ups were temporarily suspended. I went in and talked to Mike who was friendly and said just bring it in. Well I wrestled with getting the bike in my car but made it there and pointed out it's electric assist and showed him what I thought I needed and he said sorry it'll take a hour. I was like what only 1 hour??? I gladly left it and picked it up the next day and another gentleman (forgot name) took the time to explain what was done and how I could prevent issues. I ended up buying some more accessories from them that he installed on the spot. Needless to say I will bring ALL my bicycle business here to a bunch of people who really respect their consumers and practice great business practices during these trying times. read more

Paul, Mike and staff are absolutely the best. Most knowledgeable with bikes and all their components. Myself and family have been going to them for purchases and repairs since they took ownership of Beverly Schwinn. Friendly, professional and must reasonable when it comes to costs. Don't shop at the Big Box stores when you have "old school" quality bike stores like this one in your backyard. It's a shame that others use the convenience of the big stores when the small local stores provide the best service and professional/personal care to its customers. Beverly Bike and Ski is the best.
