Zero supervision while the instructor was the around the corner helping one student

This is the closest gymnastics studio, I took my five-year-old to get evaluated. She was thrown into a group of 14 girls with one instructor. Most of the class they were sitting in a single file row, there was no supervision when they were climbing the ladder. It's just sad that this is the only option around and they want to charge $60 a class for.... I wish Broadway gymnastics was closer to us because that class is 10 times better.

    My poor baby :(

Quality is very low: with the skills taught here, kids cannot advance and definitely not compete.

I was looking for a gym for my 5 year old primarily to have a gymnastics foundation - learn somersaults, cartwheels, handstands, back walkovers, gain the flexibility and strength for splits and other foundational gymnastics moves and body awareness. This is rhythmic gymnastics and if you're not entirely familiar with what it is (as I wasn't) you might be disappointed or confused. It is a form of gymnastics focused on presentation, style, and contortions with certain elements like clubs, batons, balls etc set to music. All routines are on the floor, there are no beams, vaults, foam pits etc. This seems to be a style quite popular in Russia, Ukraine, Mongolia and I assume other post Soviet Republics as the center is dominated by Russian speakers. Classes are mostly in English but there is a lot of Russian exchanges between instructors and students. They let us do a trial class for which I was very grateful and if you are considering joining, I suggest trialing. I think they do good work as far as I can tell, and you can tell they take this craft quite seriously. It just isn't what I'm looking for for my daughter. The class was more of a 1-hour yoga/Pilates/flexibility workout, quite different than other kid's gymnastics classes with tumbling and the use of other equipment. My daughter was having a hard time at the first class with nerves, she was crying and scared to participate but the instructor (Ben) was very kind. He was very patient, allowed me to sit inside although it's generally not permitted and paid special attention to her. I thought it was very nice and put my child at ease. There is a fencing school in the same building I thought was pretty cool.

There are so many little nooks and crannies that make it an endless place for kids to explore. They have a climbing wall, a tetherball area, a trampoline, a little hide and seek house, multiple basketball hoops, slides, and climbing features! think it's so wonderful and beautiful that the staff take the time to really get to know the kids, memorize all their names, and even get to know their likes and wants. Toddlers require a lot of patience and Ed, Amanda, and Laurie are so kind and patient with them! (All the staff are, I just can't remember the names of the others I've interacted with). I appreciate them not judging us when we chat up with the other moms, and even do a great job looking after them to make sure they're OK even though we moms supervise pretty well at the same time. Best part is every10 minutes or so they change up the activities to make sure that the kids stay engaged. They integrate balls, climbing Obstacle courses, mazes, swings, singing, drumming, and have animal toys as well. I really enjoy the flow and I can truly say my son is the happiest here out of any class he's ever taken!

This is a review for private parkour lessons with Cliff of PK Cali…read more My fiance is an extreme sports enthusiast....rock climbing, slack lining, bungee jumping, and most recently sky diving. In all of his experiences he loves connecting with those that are really dedicated to their sport and to helping others learn to love it to. I thought parkour would be right up his alley. I found Cliff through Yelp and saw his name on a lot of other California parkour websites so I set up a private lesson for my fiance and his brother last weekend. We met Cliff at UCLA and had a really great time with him...the warmups the guys went through were essential to techniques they'd learn later on. He was encouraging yet gave good feedback for how to improve. The guys really enjoyed learning from Cliff and eventually were learning good technique for vaults and scaling walls. I was free to take pictures of the day and Cliff even advised on the best angles to take. Overall it was the best experience for my fiance's birthday. I'd really recommend anyone considering learning to reach out.

The key difference is that the former is on a pay-per-class basis and Tempest Gym is on a monthly contract. The flexibility in that alone puts the Los Angeles School of Gymnastics ahead of the other. I've been to three classes at this point and they've all been extremely trying; extremely informative; and extremely fun. The instructors Cliff and Jordan do their best to give everyone hands-on attention and instill an environment that discourages competition and encourages camaraderie. The premises is actually very huge and clean, their doors usually left open during classes to let the air in. The classes utilize a variety of equipment, from vaulting horses to those bars people flip and spin on in gymnastics (I think that's the formal name for it). The classes, as Lauren O. has said, are from 8:15pm to 10pm and cost $15 each time. Given that there aren't many places formally teaching the craft of Parkour, Los Angeles School of Gymnastics is actually that much better, their classes already so well executed before others are even starting them up. For anyone even slightly interested in taking this up, I'd recommend a class here for a taste.

There was 1 silk, 2 lyra, and 1 pole for ~4 students, but there also seemed to be one of the instructor's kids (?) playing around too? There was a group led warm-up with yoga mats, but then it took the form of more open aerial then a directed class. I mainly did my own thing on silks, but then later asked for some help on lyra since the instructor seemed most knowledgeable about that. For the amount of money spent, I think it was a decent use of time. I think this place has a lot of potential, however, it didn't really seem like a class, or even serious training time. Everyone else there seemed relatively new to aerial. Other: * Parking can be a bitch in this area. * The studio is a bit smaller than I thought it would be, probably because of all the studio mirror angles in the pictures. * Class times are mainly during 9-5 business hours.
