Love this cute local hotel located next to "Swingers" Cafe in West Hollywood. The staff are very friendly. The lobby is all glass windows making it bright and welcoming. The small pool is just a few steps away from the check in desk with plenty of lounge chairs awaiting your presence. Many of the rooms are suites offering a separate bedroom and living space. If you are looking for a fun "staycation" I highly recommend booking a few nights here. You can park your car and walk oiver to the Farmers Market, The Grove, The Beverly Center & Connection as well as many restaurants and clubs. *Street parking at the meters, they offer valet... ~ and that's all I have to say about that... read more

Here's a review from a non-driver in LA: a relative was in the hospital at Cedars, this place is on their recommended list, and I was so grateful for it: good location with the late-night diner next door, and in easy walking distance to the Grove. Generous-sized, well-designed room with lots of storage and surface space, super-nice staff which i appreciated so much, and I wish all hotel rooms had microwaves, especially for a long stay it smoothed things out so much. We had booked a room for one night for a show in the area. Unfortunately, our show was postponed due to visa issues with the act, and a new date has yet to be announced. As soon as we knew about the show postponement, we attempted to contact the hotel to refund and rebook at a later date when we could. The staff here went out of their way to prevent this. It took calling 6 times over 4 days to get a hold of a manager, who was then unwilling to provide any accommodations. They would not let us change the dates of stay more than once, and as stated we don't yet know the new dates of the show, so they truly were unwilling to work with us. read more

I loved our stay at the Beverly laurel motor hotel! The hotel is so conveniently located right in the heart of all the places you'll want to be. I love how close to melrose/fairfax and Hollywood it is! The infamous 24/7 deli Canters is just down the street, there's also a late night diner just downstairs to indulge your late night cravings as well. The hotel itself is cute. The whole building had this beachy, old Hollywood charm to it. Especially the pool area. It's like something out of a Lana Del Rey music video. It has a charm. The room was very spacious, my only complaints are 1) the room had a chlorine smell to it. SUUUUPER chemically smell. I just kept telling myself at least it must be REALLY clean ‍ I didn't see any of the bed bugs being pointed out in some of the other reviews, though the couch was a little dirty. 2)My only other complaint is that the suite only had one mirror in the bathroom. Making it impossible to do my hair outside of the bathroom. The bathroom is basically one big shower room, so that was kind of inconvenient. The staff was very friendly, from the front desk to the valet. I'll definitely be staying here again in the future. I highly recommend. read more

This hotel probably was nice at one point in time. The upkeep is just not there. They need new house keeping and someone to check their work. Everything was dusty and the carpets are very worn and smell. They need a renovation horribly bad! The furniture is dirty and run down and the beds are extremely uncomfy. The mattress was so worn down that my hip bones hurt when I woke up from lack of padding. The room smells old and dingy. We turned on the ac and it smelled horrendous so we checked the filters and they were frighteningly dirty. We had to clean them to use the ac. They use a linen service but their towels smelled like they do not get clean enough. I would not recommend staying here. The price is outrageous for the condition of the rooms. I will be booking elsewhere from now on. Also, they fail to mention that construction is happening next door and we had no idea until 6:45am when we were woken up by that noise. Its literally a 50ft pit that is being dug into the ground outside the bedroom window. This was a mistake to stay here read more

The room was a good size but kind of gloomy and barren. There were several light fixtures that did not turn on. I could not tell if that was because they were no longer in use or should have been repaired. We were only there one night so we just let it go and went to bed early. The area is a little scary to walk around in the evening. We walked four blocks to dinner and were accosted by two different people on the street. It was nice that there was a private parking lot. Very nice location near the Grove (massive shopping center + Farmer's Market). It sits above Swinger's Diner. The lobby is nice, but the elevators don't work! BL keeps the style and theme of the hotels is the LA 80s vibe without looking run down. It's nostalgic yet somehow manages to keep the place nice and modern. The theme on the outside follows into each room. No matter what type of room you book, there is a cute happy face pillow waiting for you! Our bed was round which was interesting. I've never slept on a round mattress before. Bathroom was beautiful and spacious. Staff was nice and friendly. I don't there were any other amenities included in our stay but probably not necessary as there were so many retail businesses around the area to explore. read more

I would understand if it was a recent issue, but there were signs posted on the elevators that looked older than a day (washed out from sun and/or ripped). This did not seem as a recent sign. I would have appreciated a call or even an email notifying me ahead of time, maybe even a small discount. Excellent place to stay. I was recently dislocated from my apartment because my building was in a fire. I was traumatized. I lost my car and a number of my things were unsalvageable. I needed a clean and quiet but cheerful environment to stay at and get my head together. Beverly Laurel was just around the corner from my apartment and I remember my Dad really loved the hotel when he stayed there, so I made a reservation for two nights and ended up staying for four nights! It was that good. I can't rave enough about the staff. Sal and Mario at the front desk were a so kind and understanding- I knew there were moments where I just wasn't making any sense, but they were patient and intuitive. Everyone at the front desk always greeted me with a warm smile. They were quick to help me whenever I asked for something. The valets, who had to park my car, which was packed with my smoky scented belongings, were attentive and friendly. They never complained about the scent of my car or the fact that it was packed to the hilt with stuff. They found out what had happened, and at that point, they just went above and beyond to make sure my needs were accommodated. They even had a moment to open up a friendly conversation to make sure everything was okay. The hotel, itself, is very clean and very cheerful. It hearkens back to another time, but in a good way! It is fully restored from the original bones, but in a fun, retro silver screen Hollywood sort of way. The pool is a lovely oasis, complete with hanging wicker chairs and comfy chaise lounges. Swingers, a neighborhood favorite diner, is attached to the hotel, so you don't have to go far for a delicious quick bite. I would most certainly stay here again, and probably will. I didn't have high expectations based on recent reviews but it was tolerable with a few exceptions. The staff was friendly, the elevator worked, the bed was comfy, the bathroom was clean, and the noise level from the road was not a problem. The bed linens were clean crisp cotton. However, one night my next door neighbor apparently had their phone sitting next the wall where my head was resting and it was blowing up on vibrate all night. Every few minutes it woke me up. It was torture. Not the hotel's fault but that's how thin the walls are. The shower was ok, hot water was fine but the shower head was a big rain type with not enough water pressure. I skipped shampooing my hair because of this. The carpet in my room was SO dirty and the AC smelled musty and needed cleaning. The towels are old and although they were clean, they're ready for the donation bin. Small investments would make this place much better, but it's an affordable option in a very expensive city so still worth it for budget travel. I didn't try the diner but it was busy and apparently good. The hotel is walking distance 10-15 min to the Grove and Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and the famous Farmers Market (food court). read more

There was a $35 additional charge when we got there but the clerk waived it since the elevator wasn't working. There is a neat little pool. Swanky interior of our suite room complete with a round bed! There is a happy face theme here. The pool area has a magnificent rubber tree plant that hugs the bottom floor railings. Friendly front desk staff. Finally, the price seems most reasonable for the location and suite. There are noise reduction windows, but still it's a busy street with lots of cars honking at the intersection by Swingers Diner. Patrons and weirdos cackle loudly at some points. There seemed to be no urgency to fix the broken elevator. It's probably still broken as you're reading this. The pool was unheated. The midcentury building is showing its age (drawers keep sliding open) and the parking spots underground are minuscule. I paid over $200 per night when you add in taxes and fees!! I was so pleasantly surprised to find that it was a wonderful experience from the bright room with a beautiful view of the pool to the lobby. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel. It was really unexpectedly perfect. I am a real person with a real experience. I'm certain at this point the very negative reviews regarding this hotel are talking about the incorrect hotel. Unsafe, disgusting, and worse than a extremely cheap motel. Room 305 & 306 on the too floor are leaning away from each other right in the middle for some odd reason leaving gaps in the doors that pose a security and fall risk to its guests. After 5 minutes of being in the room and noticing these unsafe conditions and going back downstairs the front desk concierge was rude and had said we sat on the bed so we couldn't get a refund. Asked to speak to the manager and he said they're away for the entire weekend. Had to call my credit card company and dispute the charge. Stay away from this place, cheaply renovated with no amenities, rude staff, and poor management. read more

Not sure how I stumbled on the Beverly Laurel but so glad I did. My colleague and I were wanting to stay somewhere central on a recent trip to a Hollywood work location. The rates were very reasonable and the location was fantastic. Staff was welcoming and friendly, they have a valet to park your car -- use it since you pay for parking regardless. The entire property was like stepping back in time, and they definitely keep up on the maintenance and ensuring it looks fabulous. The rooms are very comfortable and pretty spacious. I had a corner room and it was huge. The decor was so awesome and super 60's/70's. They do not have irons/ironing boards in the rooms (they do provide blow dryers and coffee) but will lend out a table top board and iron if you need it. read more

So my wife and I came to the Los Angeles area this Monday for a night to take care of some stuff and see the family even if it was a short one . So we stayed here at this motel . First the area is excellent near the Farmers market which is one of the bear i have been too also near Beverly Hills area which is a wow , and is an area close to everything. So the location is awesome . As far the motel super clean ,pretty trendy , with all the amenities you need good size room and bed big shower oh and by the way an over the head shower . Taking a bath like that makes everything better . Good size tv , decorations super trendy , nice pool view, just a great place to stay oh and great rates as well .we definitely recommend this place for a young couple , party friends, single nighters , or any one that wants quality for a great budget . read more

After reading more reviews of this place, I felt compelled to update and leave another review After my stay here was covered from head to toe in bed bug bites. Stayed in room 217. Only noticed bugs on the day I checked out. See photo below. but remember feeling like something was crawling on me another night. Noticed dried blood on pillow one morning (only after reading up on this, I now know what this means....one of the friendly resident bugs happily dining on my blood. It appears to be a recurring theme here based on others reviews. Additionally appears that the air conditioning not working is just a common excuse given to everyone as it is frequently non functional and they "don't know when it will be prepared" is the excuse provided. I stayed three nights at this hotel. First of all the hotel is very outdated needs major upgrading. The rooms are very old and need major renovations. The carpeting is very old and dirty looking. The beds are not comfortable. The pillows are not comfortable. The comforter is an old blanket that is so rough on the skin. Very poor quality sheets. The white bath towels also had stains on them. they were not properly washed. I really felt very uncomfortable here. I had no choice but to stay here because the other hotels around were very expensive. I would never stay here again and I would not recommend it to anyone. The staff at the front desk were not professional. There was one tall gentleman that was eating his dinner from a plastic dish at the front desk, which I thought was very unprofessional. The Beverly Laurel Hotel is centrally located. That's probably the only good thing about the hotel. Overall I give this hotel a one star rating. read more

I should have listened to all the negative reviews, but we had no other option. The elevator apparently is still broken after gd knows how long. As soon as my girlfriend and I entered the room, it smelled like a strip club. Floors disgustingly dirty and a bit wit. Room is very outdated, and the sheets felt like they haven't been washed in a week or two. Booked this hotel as part of a family Christmas gift that was paired with Hamilton show tickets. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled about ~40 hours prior to show time. We immediately tried to contact the hotel to cancel but was only met with an agent. After providing time stamped documentation and explaining the purpose of the stay and that the show cancellation was out of our control, the hotel did not refund our money or provide additional accommodation options, per the agent. Will never book at this establishment again due to their poor communication and lack of accommodations. read more

This is a solid hotel in a fun neighborhood. The pricing is competitive. The rooms were not fancy, but they were clean and had everything our family (2 adults, 2 kids) needed. The pool was chilly in January, but not *that* chilly (it is heated). Parking is great, until it fills up -- one night we needed to park out on the street, which is not too big of a deal -- you need to be up before 8am to move your car. The neighborhood is great -- near Hollywood attractions, near some well-known Jewish deli's, and across the street from a great coffee shop. read more

If you're looking for an Instagram-worthy location...look no farther. You will definitely fall in love with this place! Everything from the concierge/lobby to the fabulous pool area, you will be eyes-wide open and jaws dropped! In fact, I wasn't sure if I was in California or Miami! Lol Like most places in California, parking can be limited. Here, they have approximately 8 self-parking spots and also offers an unconventional valet for their guests. The three of us happened to get their corner bedroom "suite" which consisted of a king size bed and a separate seating area, with a pull out couch. We were told that our room was one of the few larger rooms; their double-beds room was even smaller! The view was not the absolute best, but when you open the windows...you get the beautiful cool Cali breeze. At night, it can get noisy because you can hear the hustle and bustle outside as the hotel is located on a busy West Hollywood street. The bathroom was retro and huge! Beautiful array of blue and white tiles? Check. HUGE standing shower? Check. Rainfall style shower head? Check check check!! Location is convenient to many great restaurants and shops. Nextdoor, downstairs and to your left, is a super fun diner eatery that stays open late for your late night cravings. A couple block over is a modern dim sum restaurant. I wanted to like this place so much! This place has such a great mid-century, old Hollywood vibe to it! At first... It's very quaint and it makes you feel as if you're going back in time. But things are not always as they appear. Upon checking into my "Romance" suite (or whatever cheesy term they choose to call it), all initially felt bright and fun. But as started to settle into my room, I noticed that you couldn't close the bathroom door. Then as I looked a bit closer, I realized that one of the double doors to the bathroom was completely missing! No biggie.. it was just me... but I thought I'd let the front desk know. I contacted the front desk and informed the evening front desk clerk about the missing door issue, and his response was "I'm sorry but I have no manpower to fix this right now and to be honest this is the first time I'm hearing about it." He really seemed to have no idea but also seemed to not care in the least. At least he was honest about not knowing? Again.. it was just me, I wanted to enjoy my staycation and my week off from work while getting some spring cleaning/organizing done at my apartment. I did not want to make a big deal out of it. Then as I began setting up my computer space and internet, at first it seemed easy-peasy. But after a few minutes I began to notice the internet signal toggling back and forth between "strong" and "medium". Anyone who knows Internet Wi-Fi signals showing "medium" means it won't load crap! Especially for streaming and video calls which I needed to do the following day. I had planned to do my work calls from my hotel room and let the people working at my apartment have their space. I didn't make too much mention about it the first night because again... I wanted to just enjoy myself. I realize I needed to extend my stay that night and contacted the evening desk clerk again regarding the Internet. I told him I was having a lot of issues with the connection but I wanted to stay another two nights. I asked if the connection was this poor in all the rooms and he could not give me a straight answer. At that point I was getting frustrated I decided that the amenities advertised were essentially not available. I decided I shouldn't be fit paying the advertise price for 75% of what was advertised. The front desk clerk said I should talk to the manager in the morning. The next morning I spoke to the manager and he mentioned (more or less) that he hasn't heard of any problems with the Internet but that internet speeds tend to slow down during high traffic hours which is in the evenings. He also mentioned about points throughout the hotel where the signal was stronger. At that point I told him I'm staying for another two days but only if I can be assured that the Internet will work better in my new room. He said he hasn't heard of any problems (BUT DID HE ACTUALLY CHECK IT OUT FOR HIMSELF? DOUBTFUL). He gave me some BS make the customer happy and tell them what they want to hear. I give him the benefit of the doubt... and regretted immediately. I had to check out of my room and wait until check-in time to go into my new room. I get into my new room at 5 PM and the Internet signal says "medium" to "poor". At this rate I didn't wanna deal with the front desk so I began looking looking for ways to get my own Internet signal. Went to Best Buy but a hotspot came back realized I needed the hotels Internet to set up a mobile hotspot which I purchased. Four or five hours later, I'd had enough... I was not getting what was advertised in two rooms now and I'm wasting my money. Bottom line is I am out almost $300 for the stay because of they're supposed no cancellation policy. They are refunding me for one night plus refunding I believe 15% of the first two nights. HOWEVER THIS IS PENDING AND NOT YET PROCESSED. Also the daytime manager who I spoke with could have at least been upfront and honest with me about the issues with the Internet. Instead he seemed to just want to appease me, but also not lose a customer either. Again. I doubt he even checked the Internet signal in the new room because if he did he would've known it was going to be an issue. Lastly... Good location, mid-century look (and it's beginning to show signs of age. Didn't seem as clean as previous visits (4-5 previously) and it's annoying to have to request a blow dryer. They should just install it in the room. No nightstand to read at night--you've got to light up the whole room. No safe. I'll probably explore other hotels in area next time. Room was about $300 listed per night and total was $400 with taxes and fees. My pet peeve: why does every hotel only provide one luggage stand? Usually couples each have their own bag. They're not very expensive to provide. The valet controls your car, which isn't that big of a deal unless you forget something in your car and they have to go retrieve it. read more
