I had never visited the grave I came to see, so honestly I did get a little lost. Luckily, a groundskeeper was onsite that was able to help. He didn't just point me to the grave, he drove to the gravesite as I followed and helped me find my grandmother's grave. I almost cried at how above and beyond this person went to help me when he clearly did not have to. I would definitely go back again as it is a very pretty graveyard with many old and unique tombstones, which I also love.

Alot of the cemetery is quite old, but you wouldn't be able to tell since most of the stones are marble and still looking as good as they did I am sure in the early 1900's. I always thought that marble was used more so not then before, but I was wrong. I came across a beautiful crypt that seemed to of been underground but the roof was sticking out the top of the ground. With some research I found out that back in the day, they would sell some crypts or mausoleums that were underground. Once the families all were interred over the years, it seems that the entrance (or stairs leading down to the crypt) was covered and so you would have a semi covered structure that actually looks like a house underground of sorts. Novel ideas in this cemetery but I found it to have a wonderful trim and pristine look to it. Kudos to the grounds keeper, but I know this is bad, I like my cemetery graving to be vintage and have some "let me find it" kind of feel. The grounds are very well maintained and just beautiful. Even put some dirt under them. They were nice, respectful & very kind. Went above & beyond expectations in these times. Thank you Juan & Jerome. FYI - The grass was cut but trees needed to be trimmed up and headstones need string trimming around them. Perpetual care was included in the purchase of the graves. I see the cemetery has a new parking lot and offices but some attention needs to be addressed on the condition of the landscaping. (and not just at the entrance.)

We all know the pandemic happened, however, the time delay for work orders to be completed or simply placing the order for my mother's headstone, has been beyond excessive. I have personally recommended Dignity/Beverly/Lincoln cemeteries in the past but I will never do it again; Not worth the heartache nor headache. Even after phone conversations with staff that my sister managed to track down, we have no idea when we will see my mother's headstone completed and placed at her burial site. So very disappointing.

Gatling has two floor and what looks like a basement as well. You can walk up stairs to the rooms on the second floor, but there are also elevators for those that need it. The room itself was well maintained and the sound system was good. The service itself was very well organized. It started on time and the pastor conducting the service kept everything on time and moving as intended. I was most impressed that they respectfully told the crowd that only certain representatives of my cousin's family and friends would be allowed to speak; everyone else could share their stories at the repass. I loved this. While everyone in each group got to go up on the stage, one person spoke for them. My first cousin (the husband) did not go up, but that was cool as it was his choice to let his kids have their say. The entire experience was handled very professionally. I was impressed at level of professionalism of the staff. Everyone was courtesy in greeting me, directing me to the location where the service was being held. The parking staff was also nice, directing me to a space that would allow me to leave early as I had another memorial event to attend later that day. They still have the screen outside for drive by visits, but it was not on that day. Yes the decor is dated but it was clean. I loved that the staff were all in they same uniforms for the most part. There were 1-2 gentlemen who were in suits, but the maroon colors were a nice touch. All in all, for a sad event, this was handled in a well organized manner. You tend not to want to think about future plans, but this would be a place on my list. Professional, organized and on point with the time management.

The Calahans not only help families during the process to plan for our loved ones final resting place, but they help also with the grief. They offer shoulders to cry on and wisdom with the arrangements. What I value the most is the Calahans do not perform the services and leave the families alone. They have ongoing support through weekly Griefshare classes. And the most profound was a memorial service for all of our loved ones on November 9, 2025. We were able to provide words of our loved ones, specifically for me-my Mama, Vivian Brown, made an Imprint in this world. We could provide pictures, trinketts, poems to express ourselves. Even if we had an emotional moment, the staff was there. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE CALAHAN FUNERAL HOME. They stand by there words to walk along side of your family while you grieve. I was in town to help a family member complete the arrangements for her mother's funeral. Staff was told multiple times that we had not planned a funeral sevice before. But, from the 1st meeting that I attended I got an uneasy feeling about the level of service she'd receive. There is no continuity of care with staff. Too many different people to deal with when you're grief stricken. This resulted in fractured or downright miscommunication. Timelines were unclear adding to stress. Questions we had were often meant with blank stares. I could write a book about everything that went wrong or was mishandled but don'thave that kind of time. Suffice it to say, this business needs to level up their front-office professionalism and processes. They need to understand that families are grieving and at their weakest point. And, just because someone has attended funerals that doesn't mean they know the ins and outs of planning. This is THEIR business. It should run like a well-oiled machine. Now for the positive. Although the obituary needed a lot of re-work over 2 days the printer (who we had to insist on speaking wirh directly) was easy to work with and went above and beyond to get it right once she understood what was needed. We felt that the cost was reasonable and even though it's not the largest space, they were still able to accommodate everyone who came. They are a family business and they do everything they can to make the experience seamless. I liked that they helped create the tribute video and had a staff member making sure things were stocked and clean while we were there. It ended up snowing before we left and the owners cleaned off all the cars and made sure pathways were shoveled, that was a very kind gesture after a long day.
