I walked in needing help selecting the right bottles for specific drinks and yet not one employee knew anything about their bev's. They said the guy that knows about stuff went home already, not even lunch time yet... Pathetic. BevMo... Where the Bev's go!! The BevMo of Santa Monica is located in a joint indoor plaza with parking below as well as some parking in front. They have a interesting layout with spirits directly ahead when you enter and wine, beer, and things of the beverage nature towards the back half of the store as well as accessories, candy, food , frozen and personal as well as home goods along the far left side via their GoPuff shop. BevMo S.M. has an excellent crew who are fairly knowledgeable, some with speciality areas (wine specialist, brew enthusiasts, etc), but all try to be as well rounded as possible and due their best to not only help the customers, but each other as well. The store has changed so much since the last time I was there six or seven years ago... Once upon a time I covered a few shifts here as well, so really cool to see how much number 123... (I forget)... has grown and changed over the years. Seems like they get shopped even harder than a remember as some wines and fridge drinks were low compared to others, but they can look up anything you need as they do have inventory, end caps and displays with additional items you may be looking for. I visited store on 7/13/2024 and purchased Bushmills 12 years Irish whiskey. The posted price on the store is $49.99 (as you can see on the picture), but at checkout it came at $56.99 with $2 off. When I asked cashier Jesus how this is possible and why the store doesn't honor their own posted price, he was very rude and refused to answer my question or do anything about it. This is violation of California's business and professional code. And the stuff behavior is completely unacceptable. Thank you for ruining my Saturday. read more

I have ordered twice from GoPuff at this BevMo location. Both times my order was wrong. The first time they were nice about it but today the guy got very argumentative and rude when I told him I was missing my case of San Pellegrino and he insisted the app hadn't updated and it would later and they were out of the right size case. Rather than argue with someone, I left without the water but sure enough, when I checked at home, I was charged for it and it showed I had picked up the case. read more

I had an extremely unpleasant experience with the cashier. Because I looked young, he aggressively inspected my ID, even attempting to peel it. He then laughed and said that if it didn't scan, he would kick me out. After it successfully scanned, he sarcastically remarked, 'Wow, that was a close one.' His behavior was unprofessional and made me feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. No customer should be treated this way. read more

Excellent Manager (Jesus) dealing with chaotic situation. I had a problem with the cashier properly applying a discount, telling me I had to go to end of the line. Second time through cashier told me to leave the store with no refund. Jesus stepped in and totally de-escalated an argument that was just starting and listened carefully to understand the problem, then promptly fixed everything with a great attitude. Jesus is clearly well trained as a manager and super professional. Hope for his sake that his company knows how impressive he handled a difficult situation. read more

Placed an order for two items via BevMo app. Received an email order confirmation for both items. Then received a "ready to pick up" email, showing only one of the two bottles was ready to be picked up, while the second bottle was canceled. Not happy, but their real time inventory has known to suck. Went to the store to pick up the one bottle, I was given the wrong bottle and then was told the one I ordered and ready to be picked up was no longer available. The person who helped me, claimed to the the Manager. Rather apologizing for the mistake and ask what he could do to make it up, he simply said "mistakes happen". Like what other reviews have said, both management and staff need some serious training. I do not live close to this location. What a waste of time to drive out there. Sadly, this BevMo has gone way downhill. Their service used to be great, but the new management and staff are clueless about their own liquor selection and how to treat their customers with even minimal care. Their displays are disorganized and mislabeled, and the ambiance is utterly depressing. One can spend half an hour shopping there without a single employee asking if they can be of help. It seems like the staff gets replaced every few months and most of them don't even pretend they want to work there. The manager CJ is particularly horrendous. It's appalling that someone with such complete lack of knowledge, professionalism, respect and friendliness can be assigned the role of managing and leading any store at all, especially such a large and busy one. Honestly, there is absolutely zero reason not to shop instead at the multitude of other BevMo locations right nearby. read more

I like Brea and Pasadena's locations more, but this was not bad, just smaller. They have the beers and wines you love and some unusual and hard to find as well. Staff was friendly and helpful. (Although there was one cashier that had attitude - maybe it was a bad day for her?). Store not that crowded, clean with wide and organized aisles. The last two times I placed an online order it has been a fail. I placed the orders through the BevMo!application. On 11/13/22 , I placed another online order to pick up between 7:45p-8p. BevMo closed at 8p. I came and the cashier told me my order wasn't ready. I asked her what's the best way to place an order as the last 3 times I've had to wait for my order to be shopped. She told me to wait until I get an email that my order has been fulfilled. That was a terrible answer! If I would have waited for an email confirmation, the store would have been closed according to her logic. Absolutely terrible customer service! read more

I kind of love BevMo! and was happy when this one opened, as it's now the closest location to my house. Matt B. and I finally went a couple weeks ago to buy booze to prepare for a party. It was a smaller store than the one on La Cienega, which turned me into a BevMo! superfan, but we were able to get everything we needed. The parking situation was easy, with an ample garage. The store was pretty quiet on a Sunday afternoon. It was less magically impressive than the La Cienega location, which is like a Costco Disneyland of alcohol, but it was well stocked. The beer selection was solid. We got several 12-packs of California beers, a couple of them refrigerated. We also got dry vermouth and Aperol and Campari, no problem. (For big-ass bottles of like bourbon and gin, Costco is still the better bet.) I was somewhat mystified by the pricing on both the Aperol and Campari. Both were available in 750 ml and liter bottles, but the price per volume was higher for the larger bottles. I mean it's been years since my MATHCOUNTS days, but I'm pretty sure I was calculating right (it actually made me kind of crazy, so I had Matt, also an ex-mathlete, verify). I was going to check prices on the BevMo! site to see if this was a company-wide glitch, but the site is fucking ridiculous and won't let me browse without selecting a delivery method for the booze I haven't even added to my cart. Service was less infuriating at the store. This one nice employee helped us find stuff then checked us out and packed everything up to make it easier to carry. I was kind of shocked that I didn't have a BevMo! coupon ready to use, seeing as they email me every three days, apparently about nothing. (They sent me one after my visit, for $15 off a $100+ purchase, and it's already expired.) In any case, I like this location fine; I just no longer feel my old gleeful love for BevMo! I'm still bound to come back whenever I have a long alcohol shopping list that would be hard to take care of elsewhere. But I'm tilted by the weird pricing and the stupid website, and will probably unsubscribe from the useless emails. read more

BevMo is BevMo. I never knew this is a newly opened branch until a friend of mine said so. I was happy with the visit because their staff,Matthew greeted me,handed me a basket and led me to my red wine and whiskey isle. Oh and he carried my basket too! With the club BevMo,I got the benefits. If you visit during those busy hours,I would assume it'll be a long line. So stop complaining(pertaining to the other review) and enjoy your adult beverages. read more

Love the location! There is ample parking, free for one hour with validation. At 7pm on a Friday night, the parking lot was free because the gate was open. The store seems to be small than what I am used to but their selection is great. I was greeted and was offered help which is always greatly appreciated. Staff was friendly and maybe I came in a good night; I stuck around for a few minutes chatting it up with a staff member and another customer. Definitely coming back for the vibe alone. Underground lot off Wilshire and Franklin is shared with CVS or grab a meter. Obviously, parking is key for me but so is service and I got plenty of it on my first visit. Creating a sparkling water* tasting** (plain only) I was able to purchase two brands, only to return to Trader Joe's for the third as it isn't sold here. Will not only be comparing the trio's flavor but also, sodium and mineral content. Purchased a bottle of sambuca to drizzle over watermelon as per the Wall Street Journal's recent recommendation for sizzling summer fruit salads. Plenty of minis afford learning about different spirits without investing dollars and storage in large bottles. It must be brand spanking new, because I just spied it when I was across the street at Aahs! today. OMG. Opening day and three yelpers beat me to the keyboard. It's been suggested to me by some that the evil filter monster is eating my reviews because I had the audacity to post a note about this place before it opened; (even though someone else beat me to the keyboard on that too). So I have taken photographic evidence that I was there on opening day. I hope the filter monsters programers see this, go buy some cheap tequila on sale, (they have it), and get a massive cheap tequila hangover, (the absaloute worst kind to have). This BevMo is a temple of choices; you want 100 different bottles of vodka to choose from, they seem to have it. Exotic beer, wines, liquors, I've never seen so many usual things to try. Deep coverage/lots to choose from in all of these areas. A little disappointed that the exotic sodas were lite on diet options and that the discounts were not steeper but overall it is a wonderful experience to cruise the isles with so much to choose from. They have a discount program that you need a card for but once you give them your phone number you can leave the card at home. Most sales prices were not as steep as I would like to see but they did have some good finds like my scores of a $30 chardonay for $17 and a $30 vodka for $20; ( I just love to get a quality bargain & yes evil filter monster programers I posted a pic of my "ClubBev! Savings $23" just to prove I was really there ). Another minor disappointment was that most of the quality stuff was not significantly discounted. The really good bubbles/champagne had nary a disscount. The place was flooded by nice friendly staff on opening day who informed me that they will be having beer tastings on Friday's and wine tasting on Saturday's. But for those pesky filter monster programers they did have some great prices on really cheap wines, buy one get another for five cents. (I think they should hit the cheap tequila in the evening and then switch up to the really cheap wine for the early morning. This should keep them busy with the porcelin alter for an extended period of time and the rest of us can yelp in peace). Not the least expensive place in town but great selection and layout. So as I sit here contemplating how long this posting will stay up before the filter moster eats it I am content as I sip my quality discount vodak and look forward to press reports of the massive potential hangover that awaits the yelp filter monster programing staff. Remember you little pesky programers: it's all about the quanity not the quality. For the rest of us yelpers there is a direct inverse relationship between the price of the beverage and the hangover. Some BevMos are good, and some are mediocre. This one is mediocre. The plus is the street parking, which is easy to get during the nighttime hours. The minus is the small selection. It's a huge place, yet for some reason they don't every have the niche things I want. I end up having to drive to Marina just to get them. That's annoying. I tolerate this place, but that's about it. Don't get your hopes up before you come here and you'll be fine. Bonus point for the cashiers actually verbally squabbling with each other while checking people out last time I was here. Apparently one of them is "mean" and the other one "doesn't do her job." "Can you believe she said that?" Yes, I can. Every word. read more

A quality BevMo! location. Parking is easy (underground - entrance off sidestreet, not Wilshire). Selection is good. Attendants are helpful, offering advice if requested, and friendly at check-out stand. They had a Grey Goose display set up when I visited, and they have tastings in the back of the store from time to time, too. read more

HORRIBLE Friday wine tasting! With 45 minutes left my girlfriend and I only got to taste two reds before being told they were out. Meanwhile the wine representative / picker and his guest got heavy pours on what remained as the server told everyone they were out and gave everyone small pores of what was left, how insulting!! Let people know if you're going to be out or give them a refund!! The real bummer was the past time we came was really awesome and that's why we came back, this round just sucked! read more

In my search for the oh so hard to find, Sophia Coppola champagne spritzers, I made my way into BevMo and WOW! I love this store! Although I've heard about the annual "buy one wine and get the 2nd one for 5cents" sale, I had never been inside a BevMo and had no idea what I would find. The location in Santa Monica is new, clean and super stocked with every alcoholic beverage imaginable (including my Sophia Coppola drinks Woot Woot!). Although the prices are a tad expensive, I'll definitely be back. Parking is a piece of cake and -MAJOR BONUS- they will chill what ever you want prior to you coming and buying it if you call a 1/2 hour to an hour in advance- LOVE THAT! read more

Brand new store that last week. It's a lil smaller to me in size than a regular bevmo store but it's a good alternative to go other than the other nearby bevmo stores and they have a big cigar case selection which is locked by the front entrance. If you are deciding between this one and the West LA location, I would recommend this one! Bigger store and greater selection.
