I've been coming here for years and there's a lot of great things to say about the ambiance, the delicious food, the events and all of the other qualities other reviewers comment on, But what compelled me to finally write a review is witnessing how the staff treats people. Twice in one day I witnessed two separate staff members go out of their way to help people in ways not required or expected of them. In the afternoon, one of the staff very subtly and respectfully gave a homeless woman who was clearly having a difficult time a pastry and a drink and later that same day, another staff member helped walk man in crutches up the street who wasn't even a customer. The entire staff here is kind, engaging and caring with all people regardless of their background. read more

Bodega Wine Bar is a neighborhood coffee house, restaurant and bar located in Santa Monica. It has excellent ambiance (open, airy, modern while warm), and good energy. I stopped by recently on a weekday to grab lunch and get some work done. The place was 90% full on a weekday lunch time filled with people and their laptops. I barely found us a table. The Forager Salad with baby arugula, butternut squash, apple, roasted pecans, dried cranberries, goat cheese & cinnamon date vinaigrette was so delicious! It was flavorful and refreshing. I added chicken for extra protein. I love this salad more than the last one (Miso Cesar) I got. Miso Cesar is a bit more salty even though that salad is also creative in terms of flavor, and very good as well. The Forager is lighter and has a hint of sweetness with the sliced apples.I will be back again! Parking can be a challenge depending on the time of the week and day. There is metered street parking and you can also park at Vons across the street for 90 minutes for free if you do some shopping there. Came here to celebrate my best friends birthday on a Wino Wednesdays and the staff was super accommodating and helpful! All the food we had was super delicious and all the wine we had were great choices that were recommended to our big party! Ran in quickly to grab a coffee and pastry. Parking isn't easy to find. After driving around, luckily, found a metered spot a couple of blocks away. I like to try a business's speciality menu items when I try a new spot to me. I ordered the iced churro latte. It was okay but the shots of espresso in it were faint. The overall flavor of the churro latte was sweet milk with cinnamon. I should have gone with my first choice of a pastry and ordered one of the croissants, but changed my mind at the last second and ordered a scone. I love scones but this one was lacking flavor. I would order differently the next time. Staff was subdued but kind. The majority of customers were working on their laptops and/or having meetings. There was a fun playlist in the background which gave the place a vibe. I imagine it's a happenin' and fun spot to enjoy a glass of wine with friends at five o' clock. read more

This place is great to unwind with glass of wine. Couches are comfortable, ambience is relaxed with wood paneling, a nice skylight and ample natural light, and the staff is really amenable. Super fun trivia + happy hour! The place was packed for trivia and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The trivia host was excellent - very friendly, funny, and helpful. Our server was awesome - she was attentive and friendly despite being very busy. We had the bacon-wrapped dates, the forager salad, the scapegoat pizza (my fave) and the chili bear. Great place, pretty ambiance, packed and loud inside. Street parking can be dicey at night (I don't recommend the 90° right-angle parking meters on the next street over). Service folks were nice enough, they didn't anticipate things like cleaning our table so we could sit or refilling water. To be fair, they were slammed. They did let our group sit and catch up for a bit. Everyone loved their drinks and food. Margherita pizza was delicious, lovely drink selection, wine is really good here. As a student, I'm always looking for places to study with good vibes, great coffee, tons of space, outlets and easy parking-- and this is one of them! I love the variety of coffee here- their specialty lattes are my fav! I get the churro latte and it's not too sweet! I enjoy getting here when they open at 7 am. It's easier to find parking. I typically park in the metered street parking for $2.50 the hour and it starts at 9 am! The space inside is massive with lots of couches, tables, and bar seating. The outlets are typically near the bar and on the couch areas. I have never struggled to find an open outlet! Sitting near the bar is my favorite- they have a sky light open and the sun light enters so perfectly! This place also turns into a wine bar past 5 pm- no laptops allowed and they have different deals for happy hour! Recently moved into the area and I'm so glad to have found Bodega! It's quickly becoming a daily lunch staple. I work right around the corner and the quality, convenience, and vibe simply cannot be beat. The seating area during the day is filled with people working on their laptops, reading, or catching up with friends sipping on lattes and biting on croissants. Love a great happy hour especially if its unexpected. A little bit for everything and everyone, vino verde, red table wine, and some beer selections. Came midday and it's an awesome coffee shop at that time of day. This place is 100% buzzing with patrons seated all over its large indoor outdoor tables and couches. Great music. Many many people working on laptops and chatting. It's the way Starbucks used to be, but it's much nicer, with open floor plan, and it's right in one of the nicest parts of Santa Monica. Lived here for many years but never stopped into Bodega. Popped in this morning for a coffee and a bite for myself and my wife. The lovely woman who was the barista this morning deserves some kudos. She was friendly, accommodating and poured a mean coffee. I grabbed a cortado, latte and some croissants... changed my mind on the croissants and opted to wait for the kitchen to open so we got someone hearty before our flight and she happily canceled the order -- even after she'd started heating the croissants! She also remembered our order and made my wife's latte as the food was coming out so she could have a warm latte, and even remembered the milk choice. It was really pleasant. The paseo and breakfast sandwich were also great! It's rare to run into people who are pleasant in the service industry these days, so kudos to Bodega for hiring well and / or paying their employees well. read more

Parking: There looked like there was a small parking lot in the back. Otherwise, there's metered parking. Experience: During the morning/daytime, Bodega is a chill place where you can get work done. There is a ton of seating (couches or tables), good wifi, and there are outlets at the bar. You order your food and drinks at the coffee counter. I came here again with a group of friends late Saturday afternoon and again received excellent service! We showed up and were ready to seat ourselves and/or split up if needed since we were a bigger group and didn't have a reservation (I think reservations are only for large parties with a f/b minimum). When we arrived, we were greeted by a staff member who asked how many were in our group. I told him 8-9 people and he promptly cleared an area for us and we were seated within approximately 60 seconds, despite there being a decent crowd already. Our server was very attentive in bringing us whatever we needed and after ordering, everything came out fairly quickly. I will continue to patronize this wine bar not only for their tasty wine and food offerings but because they have excellent customer service, which seems to be a rarity in LA these days. read more
