No one is stationed at the desk, and the other workers stay in a nearby lounge--just a poorly run place with a lack of supervision. The trailer "service" was completed, but like I said, it's nothing more than what you do on a pre-trip inspection. Don't come here if you are on your clock.

I dropped my car off at 8am in my work parking lot. By 8:25am I had a call from them letting me know that it was completed. I walked back down to pick up my keys and pay. They had checked the oil, brakes, coolant, power-steering, tire pressure, washer-fluid, belts, air-filter (no pressure sales!), hoses, etc. They noted that I needed to get my inspection and registration renewed by the end of the month, and all for less than I pay at the local express-oil-change-rip-off stations. I cannot recommend this service enough. The most time-consuming part of this entire experience was walking the extra 5 minutes to my desk from the drop-off. It couldn't be any easier unless they snuck in at night to borrow your keys and did it while you slept, like a magical group of oil-change gnomes. They let me know that along with oil changes, they do other routine maintenance stuff like bulbs, belts, wipers, and other fluids. There is absolutely no reason to ever give the stop-and-gouge oil-change places another dime - not while this service exists, at least.

My car was running fine and had no engine performance issues, no misfires, no backfires, no acceleration, no idling problems, no knocking or banging noises, no check engine light. They told me I needed to replace my timing belt and quoted me $3,500 ($3k with "veterans discount"). I thought that was too high of a price. After calling other shops and getting much lower price quotes (less than half of what Midas quoted me), Midas lowered their price and agreed to do the work for $1600. I agreed to authorize them to do the timing belt replacement out of convenience to avoid having to leave my job early (PTO hours) to go pick up my car at Midas and take it to another shop. The result: They improperly installed a new timing belt causing damage to cylinder head components. The timing belt replacement took several days with problems: First problem: they had an issue with a leaking water pump that came with the replacement kit, so they had to order a new one. Second problem: they didn't have the appropriate timing tool kit while doing the belt replacement work, so they had to wait on the right kit to be brought to the shop. Third problem: the improper installation of the new timing belt caused a valve to bend. They acknowledged their mistake and agreed to replace the valve at their expense. They also told me that I would be reimbursed for a rental car, but no more than $30 per day. Current problem: they discovered 2 cracked camshaft caps, and they also agreed to repair that damage at their expense. My car has been at their shop for nearly 4 weeks, and they still haven't fully fixed their mistake. There's a good chance that there's further damage that was caused to other parts of the cylinder head, engine block, or other components. I was told several times that the District Manager will talk to me on site or call me. He didn't show up or call me. Now the store supervisor I was working with this entire time was transferred to another shop. They have not documented any notes in their system about the damage they caused and parts they have replaced or have to replace because of the damage they caused.

Reposting because this Midas needs to be shut down ASAP or change of management ASAP Original Post: I was driving down the interstate when my car suddenly lost power and started idling rough with misfires. The closest place I could limp it to was this Midas. I dropped it off on a Friday, and they told me they could look at it the next day, but they charge a $165 diagnostic fee (which would go toward the repair if I went forward). The next morning, they called to say the issue was ignition coils in cylinders 1 and 4. The woman on the phone acted like she was giving me a discount, but then hit me with a $1,300 quote. I had just replaced my spark plugs in January, so I knew they didn't need to be replaced - yet she insisted they "had" to replace all four coil packs and spark plugs, no exceptions. I told them I'd pass and pick up my car. On the way, I stopped at O'Reilly's and bought a coil pack of 4 for $250. I drove my car across the street to a Murphy's parking lot, swapped them out myself in 20 minutes, and the car now runs perfectly. That's right - I fixed it myself for $1,000 less than their quote. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE unless you want to be overcharged and taken advantage of. New Update: As of now, I've driven my car as far as Maine and back with no issues.
