Jon, the service advisor, was friendly, clear, and professional. He took the time to explain everything in detail, including letting me know that their technicians would be taking lunch at noon--so I could plan my visit to avoid unnecessary waiting. That kind of thoughtfulness already set the tone for a great experience. They do not have a fancy waiting area nor a beautiful building facade or multiple choices of beverages but they have the best customer service, pricing and quality assurance of their work. I went in on a whim to get my door looked at because it had problems staying closed and would even not lock because it always thought the door was open. I went in fully prepared to wait a couple hours and pay a couple hundred bucks. Anthony, at the front desk, came and looked at my car and fixed it in less than 2 minutes. When I told him I'd like to at least pay the diagnostic fee to show him appreciation for his time and expertise he declined. Took my car to fix intake, all was loose, hose wasn't even installed. It seemed like it was just placed in place. Please don't t make the mistake I made by going there. They probably judged my car and said " why fix this pos" . It's my pos and Summit charged me 3600 for repairs that weren't done correctly. read more

They are honest- they don't up-sell anything that's not necessary. Chad has been easy to deal with thru the years. All the service advisers have been kind and give discounts as needed. (Healthcare- police-military) The mechanics working on them know what they're doing!!! My son recently drove his car down from Temple TX after a $3K quote at a reputable car place there- we dropped off at Summit and it was a fix that was a lot less. I came here for a breathalyzer removal. I called the company of the breathalyzer to set up the appointment and they said they took care of it. I get here and no appointment was scheduled, it's a FOUR hour drive for me. Anthony was extremely understanding and also up front stating that they could still do it but because of workload maybe a few hours. I understood. I was then sitting in the lobby like a sad boy who just lost his puppy after finding out all this information, it was maybe 30 minutes later that Anthony comes and tells me it's all done!! Went in to get my brakes replaced and got told by the service advisor that I need a whole new radiator and cooling hoses. But when I take a look in my rad I don't see anything just my green coolant but the guy was trying to say there's rust. I decided to do a coolant flush at home to see if he was telling the truth about stuff being in my coolant but there wasn't, it was as clean as can be even if there was stuff in my radiator it could've just been flushed. Great service. Very Reliable. I use Summit primarily for my Class C motor home. They do great work at reasonable prices. I had a problem arise with a belt they replaced just as I arrived in Bandera,TX. Though it was 30 miles from their place of business, a mechanic was sent to my location to fix the issue. We have a 2013 Mazda 6, and we happened to get a letter in the mail for a recall on the passenger side airbag so we took our car to the Mazda dealership off 410 to have it fixed. Next time we're just not going to take it in. They tried to upsell us on a new battery we didn't need (seriously, only here for the recall on airbags) and as soon as we left he dealership our check engine light was on. There was no way we were going to give our business to the dealership after that experience for this repair (they charged us $80 for the diagnoses and quoted us $1600 for labor/repairs), so we headed over to summit. We dropped our car off and picked it up the next day- grand total of $600. They weren't overly friendly but obviously are very fair and prompt, so they will be receiving our business for any future issues. read more

So I broke some U joints (whatever those are). I took my car back to Summit and was SHOCKED at how reasonable the repair cost! They also checked work they had done previously - my starter and valve gaskets - and repaired them at NO COST even though they were "just" out of warranty. They've helped my car get to 144,000! Asked if they would call the customer that had the our Uhaul to see when they are returning and they said they couldn't do that. No other options were given. Horrible customer service, no help! BEWARE: Dishonest. Took my car in to have a 'check engine' light diagnosed. Calls me and tells me the 'problem' , quotes well over $700, and informs me that given my mileage, I should also add an injector flush service, which would get the bill closer to $1000. I told him I would go get a second opinion and quickly went to pick up my vehicle. Somehow in the 15 minutes I it took me to get there, the price started dropping due to their finding the parts cheaper (unlikely story). Also, if you're going to recommend scheduled maintenance, you shouldn't assume I'm ignorant, because I have an owners' manual AND the manufacturer sends reminders of what maintenance is ACTUALLY required. Service has greatly declined since the owner retired. This past year I have taken my vehicle here for repairs, only to find that the needed repairs are never done right the first time, or it takes them 3 days to do a job that should only take a few hours. Communication is horrendous. They don't call you to tell you the status of your vehicle....you have to hound them. If you don't call...they won't, so your car sits longer. I have referred many people to this business only to find out recently that they have had similar issues as well. It's unfortunate. Scam artists. When you go to Autozone or Advanced AP, they'll hook up their diagnostic box to your car and run the codes for free. I took my car here cause the check engine light came on and they basically charged me $50 to 'diagnose' the issue. Been going there for 6 or 7 years. Have no complaints. Have gotten second opinions and the 2nd opinion was more than quoted. Most vehicles have a 3 to 6 thousand mile oil change requirement. Some have 10 thousand. So checking your owners manual is a must if you have any questions. My hybrid still needs 3 to 4 month checks to ensure belts and hoses are do not need to be replaced. In the 30 years I have been back to San Antonio, this is one of the best of the 3 I have utilized. The other 2 either moved or found another opportunity. God Bless and keep you safe. read more
