I came here again after 11 months and got my mani-pedi and haircut. Well this review is going to be way different because I am still happy about my last experience. My manicure is still in tact and has not chipped even a little, I went on a Wednesday and it is now Monday night so about 5 days and still look like I just got them done. My hair was cut by ken and he did a great job. I just got a simple cut with light long layers and my hair looked amazing when I left so silky and smooth looking. The pace seems to have been updated a little bit they still need a makeover in that place, maybe some new paint or to fix the cracked mirror. The upstairs area especially needs some TLC and the area they wash the hair as well. So besides needing a facelift I was very very happy with my service that day. I had an appt today so I showed up a bit earlier to be courteous (also bc the receptionist had told me to get there earlier). When I walked in, the staff looked at me like "oh crap," so I immediately knew something was up. My stylist had cancelled "due to emergency." I was pretty upset, as I took time out of my day, moved everything around to get there, driven 30min. each way, AND paid for parking as there is no parking lot on the premise. I get it, emergencies happen, but guess what, I'm a stylist and I also work at a salon too. If there is an emergency, I would expect that SOMEONE call me and all the other clients that day so that no one has to waste their time and money to make that appt! It's rude and disrespectful. Prices fluctuate make sure you ask for the cost of the services prior to sitting down. I honestly really liked this place. It came recommended from a friend from work who goes practically every week. This is the kind of place to go to when you don't feel like washing/doing your hair and getting a quick, nice mani/pedi. The only reason to go here is for the Daily Special: $30 for a mani, pedi, shampoo, and blowout. That's a steal considering other places charge that much just for a mani and pedi. Yasmine did my nails and did an amazing job. When I asked her to cut short, she did. And her leg massage lasted a while. And my nails dried incredibly fast. They do nails upstairs which is nice cause its away from the loud noise of blow driers. Very relaxing. They use amazing smelling shampoo. Smelled like lavender and eucalyptus, very relaxing. Not only do they throughly wash your hair, they massage your scalp and neck. Then afterwards give you a glorious back massage. David blew out my hair straight and it's just simple. My hair isn't runway ready, but I wasn't looking for that. It's how I wear my hair everyday. They charge a few extra bucks if you want curls. Listen, I don't think this place really markets itself as a hair cutting salon. If you want a haircut I would probably go somewhere else. If you want a manicure, pedicure and blowout for under $35 then come here. Some stylists are better than others (this is the case everywhere) and some nail artesians are better than others. I particularly like Ken and David and I haven't had a bad nails experience no matter who does them. Flor was the best though. Hailey washes a great head of hair. Sometimes I come here and it takes 2.5 hours for all 3, sometimes a little over an hour depends on the day and the crowds. The place is clean and everyone is super nice. read more

Directed to the threading area where I was greeted by a direct, yet kind woman who was very efficient. She advised me to use the bathroom to check her work however the bathroom light is extraordinarily dim, on the verge of going out. I had to go back to the main threading room to see her work in the light. With the exception of a couple of spots she missed and then quickly fixed, I was very pleased with the cost of a full face threading that was so thorough 35$ for being a first time visitor. She was speedy and communicative and I would definitely return to her for she is very skilled at her craft. Parking was easy, a small space in the back. I was able to walk in after calling only 20 minutes before. They advised before 4pm it's easy to be seen right away on a weekday. The place was clean and cutely decorated. read more

So I recently came to this salon because it was recommended for eye brows by a friend, so I called and was told the threading lady had already left so I would have to get them waxed....no problem....so I don't remember the ladies name but she did my eye brows perfect just how I like them (done but not super done...if u get what I mean). I was very satisfied with how they came out and will definitely go back....but that's not why I gave them 2 stars. So in the mist of me being so happy with my eye brows I must have dropped my glasses because when i came home they weren't with me. So I called the salon and said "I was just here maybe 10 minutes ago and I think I dropped my glasses". So some lady got on the phone and was like "well they wouldn't be here because we already cleaned up and we would have found them". So because I know it's my responsibility to keep up with my stuff I was like "ok is it possible you could just check for me in the eye brow room because that's the last place I had them". She then tells me "no they aren't here or they would be at the front desk", so I politely said ok and hung up. The next morning I frantically looked all over my car for the glasses and they are no where to be found. So very hesitantly I call the salon back and a different lady answers the phone. So I explain the situation and she hands the phone back over to the lady that I spoke to yesterday. I explain the whole situation again and she goes "yes the black glasses we found them" so I'm like "OMG thank you I'm coming to pick......"and she hangs up. So now I'm slowly getting very aggravated because not only did I spend money in this place but I got hung up on. Also, the night before when I called, she didn't take down my name or number or anything to get in contact with me if the glasses were found. So about 10 minutes later I head over to the salon and there's no one at the front desk, so I approach a lady by the blow drying station and say "hi I'm here for the black glasses". THIS IS WHEN I THROW IN THE TOWEL! She goes "yea, they're on the front counter". So I walk myself over to the counter and they're just sitting on the counter up for grabs. No conversation....no walk over....nothing. So I take my glasses say thank you and call my mom because holy crap that was just rude. I've been coming here for years whenever I visit SI. They've come up ALOT and recently went back for their blowout and mani/pedi special which runs at... sit down for this... $30!!! They had this last summer as well, and I'm not sure if this is all the time but it's goin on now! They charge extra if you want curls. It's a house converted into a salon, and now they do massages. They renovated the upstairs into a lovely space where they do mani/pedis on the second floor. Massages I heard were on the third floor. Decor is minimal, chic and clean. I walked in with no appointment and it was packed but they took me no problem. You walk in and up a small flight of steps. Once up the steps, the main floor is where the hair is cut, styled or washed. They have a back room and upstairs for the nails. There is a flat screen in the back as well and pop music playing in the background. As it was packed, they took me upstairs and my nail tech got started on my mani pedi. Once I was done, she took me downstairs where other towel heads awaited a stylist, and being in a rush (bc my girl, god bless her, took an hr plus to do my nails!) I got a little worried that I would have to wait behind my fellow towel heads. But as soon as I said that I had been upstairs getting my nails done and that I had been here before the rest, the kind stylist took me first. He did a wonderful job and blew out my hair with product to keep frizz free, which worked fantastically. While getting your hair washed, they take a few minutes to massage the scalp, head and neck and back! At each step, they really make an extra effort to ensure a positive and beautiful experience. They have lots of repeat customers (such as myself) as you can tell by them knowing the staff's names and stories. Asked for a pixie cut and got a bob. I have to blow it out every day for it to look remotely OK. My hair is very fine and thin so this is not a good thing. Since it was my first visit here, I shouldn't have been reading while he did the cut. I told him I wasn't happy and he told me that he made me look younger. Creep. I also got a manicure which was fine but this neighborhood is full of places to get a reasonable manicure. They advertise themselves as a salon but no one offered anyone so much a glass of water. Wish i could give no stars...Absolutely HORRIBLE!!! Worst eyebrow threading I've every had. Worse than waxing, idk what she did but after I left there I put sanitizer over my eyebrows which I always do, better safe than sorry! Anyway my right eye was burning usually stings a little. While the next day as I was washing my face, I noticed that I'm getting scabs under my brow from where she somehow ripped the skin off while threading!!! I've been there three time, first time i felt that Michael had a heavy hand but he did a good job with the hair cut i wanted. Since I was happy with the cut i returned and he did even a better job, the cut, bangs and blow out were really good. The 3rd time I saw David and he distroyed my hair. The bangs are different lenghts and my long layers are terrible. Someone told me I have a "80's Punk" look.... I was not going for that look. David was very nice but he did not do a good job. If you go see Michael but be ready for some pain as he has a heavy hand and pulls your hair. LOL read more

Think twice! I had 2 equally bad experiences! First time I went for a blow-out and was laughed at by stylists making fun of my Devachan cut as if it was uneven (they obviously never heard of dry/curly cutting techniques). I'm the fool for going back a second time (no one else was open) and they were nice this time but I got the most uneven haircut...what was supposed to be an A-line bob is a choppy crazy mess in the back with random pieces well over an inch longer than others. Worst part is how I was treated when I called about it the horrible cut...I was blamed, patronized and then told I absolutely cannot have a refund (only $35) but they would "try" to fix it. I will not let anyone there touch my hair ever again! If any decent stylists work there they should find a more professional work place! read more

Paid extra to have my hair styled. Even with heavy use of hair products, the style- I paid extra for -undid itself in less than15 minutes. My hair looked disgusting by the time my event rolled around an hour later. I could have done a better job. Cut was uneven as well. Maybe it was just my stylist, but my experience was not positive. May give it a second chance with a different stylist. read more

This is THE salon on Staten Island. Nevermind those expensive chi-chi fu-fu ones down on Hylan because these stylists understand trends and how to get the curl out of thick hair! Their prices are beyond reasonable. ALL of their stylists are very talented and know how to match face shape to haircuts. I got some perfect angled bangs and long layers and the other women's haircuts were just as awesome. I went from black hair with purple ombre to a medium brown and honey to pale blond ombre. Straight out of Pinterest, my hair! When asking for direction, I was guided into something that was a lot less money and I really appreciated them putting me over their sale. THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY TIME AND HAIR. Almost 4 years ago 02/2011 I went there for the first time asking about different kinds of hair treatment for my thick FULL wavy/curly hair to make it easier to tame. Mind you my hair was soft, shiny, and healthy at the same time. The manager told me about the "best and most recommended" package in the salon, which was the Japanese perm. She said its gonna make my hair transform into Asian hair.. Pin straight, smooth, and shiny just like her hair and that I would wake up, wash it, and go out without ever needing to iron or blow dry it. She was trying her hardest to convince me to get it. I asked how much it was, thinking it would be $200 max.. No it was $400 for my thick hair but because It was my first time coming she gave me $20 off. (It ended up being tips anyways) I asked for the menu to look at other packages. They were all $150, from Brazilian to keratin treatment, etc. I wasn't sure if she was trying to rip me off or if she really cared about her job and clients. But I was like maybe the Japanese perm is most expensive because it's better quality. She promised me Asian hair and I went through with it. The whole process was 8 hrs long. During the whole process I felt my scalp burning, you could of cooked eggs on it.. After 3 days I washed it like she instructed.. My hair turned out so thin, like spiderwebs kind of thin, and would stretch like a rubber band then rip off or fall out.. I waited to see how it was when it dried....... I HAD NAPPY BURNT STRAIGHT HAIR WITH FRIED UNEVEN ENDS! It wasn't even African hair! I could of used my hair as a broom.. I PAYED $400 FOR A BROOM ON MY DAMN HEAD! When I furiously went back to show her my hair she got shocked but quickly changed her facial expression and said oh you need to buy a special shampoo and conditioner for $110 to help out my hair. Till this day my own hair is weak, dry, damaged and fried. It doesn't grow like it used to. Even after the perm is gone, I can't get my normal hair back unless I use heat on it. On NYE 12/31/14 I went back for a 5 o'clock appointment wash and blow out.. I was taken care of at 6:35 pm. The Russian lady started doing my hair quickly and careless. Parts of my roots and hair were wet, frizzy and curly. When I nicely pointed it out, she rudely told me if I didn't like it then I should go to someone else. I complained to the manger and she expected me to wait till someone else is available. When I fussed about being late and how the lady doing my hair isn't even certified, (she doesn't do hair cuts and there was no proof of license on her station like everybody else) the manager sat me down with someone right away. The other lady who "redid" my hair left my hair frizzy, poofy, with half my hair fried. I thought I would pay $50 for a fast, professional and salon quality.. Turns out I could of got the same service from my little brother for free. They just lost a client. P.s waxing is the only decent service they offer. read more

Do not ever go here for eyelashes. They'll tell you that they know how to do individual lashes and they do not! They look like what you would pay $20 for at a nail salon, but I was charged over $100!!! My eyes were repeatedly burned by the excessive glue, they were not even, days later they are falling off in some spots while the others are too hard to get off due to all of the glue. If you want to look natural, please don't even consider, the only reason that I gave one star is because everyone there was nice, except for the receptionist that was there when I returned the next day to complain. if i can give zero stars i would. don't waste your time or money here. first of all the prices on the wall are not what you will be charged. the gel manicure clearly stated $28 on the wall and when the guy charged me he said $35 because the prices changed due to covid. my manicure was done by someone who obviously wasn't qualified to do it. for $35 i shouldve had a way better job done. the color was patchy and no shine to my nails at all. i am highly disappointed. when i showed the owners my nails they just looked at them and offered me more top coat. i didnt need top coat i needed them to be done by someone who knows what they are doing. then as im drying my nails the indian guy was like "can you pay now because we are closing"? i said sure but my nails are drying and he just stood there with his hand out without a care. i will never again come to this establishment. read more

HORRIBLE!! Do not waste your time. Terrible customer service. They have no idea what they're doing! Twice this week they told me to leave because they didn't have enough staff. I stopped in on a Wednesday and they told they didn't have any staff for a manicure, pedicure or a blow out. I asked why they were open and they said only for eyebrows and hair coloring. Apparently, they don't offer certain services on particular days, which is not posted on their website/door. But ok, I left and I called ahead of time for Saturday to make an appointment. They assured me of availability. When I got there, they told me it was an hour wait even though I had an appointment, because they had "a lot of walk ins" then 10 minutes later they told me they made a mistake and over booked and can't take me at all. Waste of time. They only take cash and the lady in the front is so rude!!!!! Seriously, stay away. Staten Island has so many nail and hair salons, no one needs to deal with this crap. Staff isn't very friendly and if you don't leave a tip that makes them happy they'll follow you out the door and basically demand more money. What makes the tip complicated is that they want you to leave some money for the person who washes your hair and some money for the person that does your hair so you easily can end up leaving over 50% tip! I've also noticed that you get worse service if you're a regular. The blowouts are ok depending on who your stylist is - i recommend the men over the women. And for waxing - they charge you more if your arms are "bigger". wth? read more

I came back to this place even though my last review sounded like it was just over for me and I had such a better mood when I was done there. I didn't make an appointment and it was a early weekday which I was hoping it was not crowded and it wasn't bad at all. I loved the new nail polishes they had and I got seen right away. The girl who did my manicure and pedicure was new I never seen her but she was good and was nice and I loved the color I chose. When it came to my hair being washed it was the best part, I enjoyed my long scalp massage and wash, it sure was being extra cleaned and the shampoos smell really good too. The hair dresser who did my hair was actually the same one from last time, I didn't wanna be rude and I didn't wanna wait neither so I let her do my hair and once again she was burning my scalp and I pulling out my hairs when trying to curl it, I just went with it and just wanted it to be over, I think next time I will def. go to someone else. You can't go wrong with a $30 hair, nails and pedicure so I always try to take that into mind and the owner Tina is always nice and compliments me every time I see her. This may be the last pedicure I ever get. Day after, my 2nd toe from big was so sore I could barely walked and got purple and swollen. Went to doctor, he doesn't think it is infected, but I suffered trauma to my cuticle and nail bed. Very heavy handed with the cuticle scissors and scrapers here. Then what got me furious and mad credit card minimum is $10. On top of that plus tax. If it was in cash, no tax. Cause of their service hah no tip. Called them up then they got pissed and mad cause I didn't leave a tip like another review said don't leave tip they get mad . My six week followup, touch-up with Tina who runs the place & who did my hair the last time didn't remember the color she used because she didn't bother to keep a hair color record on me.
