BUYER BEWARE Massa will start pulling out your hair if she starts getting jealous of you and if you don't tip her $100+ if you have nice things and post on Instagram because she's envious of girls 16 years younger than her - She's been doing my hair for 7 years and never has done it this tight. She was acting like a weirdo but I brushed it off. Massa put the first weave in my head for senior prom all to start pulling it out years later because I've gotten way more successful than she can handle. Never again. Over priced, charges different ppl different prices for the same service. Thought I found a good salon to go to but my experience here with Massa was such a turn off. She cancels appointments even if you confirm. They don't offer any complimentary water or drinks as most salons that charge $200+ a style usually do. The salon was dark & basic in decor. Just a total disappointment. I've told all my friends about my experience and warned them not to patronize this shop because number one they're unprofessional, they over charge and they cancel appointments randomly even after confirmation. Just don't go here.. it's not worth the headache. And she doesn't appreciate your business anyway. read more

The place is tres chic, warm and has a friendly atmosphere. I had a relaxer, treatment, coloring and a weave done by Massa and she even successfully persuade me (got me out of my comfort zone) to try a new style and I love it! Massa is awesome! I went this past Saturday and got a full head sew-in and I love it! I am very much a perfectionist and I believe I have found my weaving match! She takes her time to make sure every strand is perfectly in place but she's not overly slow. She went over a couple of tips for my natural hair and also how to keep the weave looking and feeling new. The hair studio is probably the cleanest salon ive ever been to, and everyone was nice! What I thought was a good haircut and highlights was actually very very damaged hair from being over processed and ripped at while wet with a comb. This was covered up by a good blow out and lots and lots of morrocan oil product. Be prepared to wait as they take a long time to do anything and lots of weave clients take up time and attention. I've been to Massa hair studio two times altogether. My first time there, I arrived 10 minutes late because I couldn't locate the place. I called to let them know I was going to be late in advance because I was simply lost and received a very nasty remark from the receptionist. I was also told that I would have to wait until their done with another client. I took it with a grain of salt because I desperately needed my hair done. When I arrived, there was only one client who was already almost done. They made me wait for about 30 minutes (I should've left then) while they sat behind the reception area talking. Massa finally started my hair. From then on she was very nice and polite. I loved my install however it was a little too tight. I decided to go back a second time, as a last resort because my usual hair dresser (Narcisse) was all booked up. That ended up being the biggest hair nightmare of my life. Long story short I had to take out my weave after a week because it was so tight by scalp was oozing. I had hair loss. She's very good at styling but be prepared to lose your edges. I attempted to book an appointment here after reading all the reviews. Unfortunately I could not locate the salon on Casleton avenue (I was a resident of West Brighton for ten years) when I called the telephone number I was abruptly asked what my call was in reference to, after explaining how I wanted to walk in to make sure someone could do the style I wanted. Ummmm I thought I was calling a hair salon?! I was then told the "shop" was booked solidand coldly hung up on. I wasn't asked if I needed anything specific, or if I could be squeezed in. I'm not sure this business is still functioning out of the address listed since it's virtually invisible, and the telephone is answered with questioning customers. My experience at Massa's Hair Studio was just OK. I would have to say the verdict is still out. My experience with booking an appointment whether it was with the receptionist or via the online booking portal has been a nightmare. If I had to base my whole experience around my interactions with the receptionist Abigail I would give Massa's a big fat ZERO. A receptionist is the first point of contact with the outside public; s/he should always be able to communicate properly about your brand/services and I never get this when I go to Massa's Hair Studio. The receptionist voice is low and unclear, she gives the wrong information, she can't communicate the price list, and after question you ask she puts you on a long hold. Also her favorite line is "Were booked". A few times I had to bypass her madness and speak directly to Massa. I have to add she also washes hair(that was a horrible experience). The whole time I got my hair washed she played around with the water setting. The water went from hot to scolding hot to cold. I watched her do the same thing with a few other clients. Despite the complaints I had about the receptionist and her hair washing techniques, the hair service I received was decent. They used MoraccanOil products which agreed with my hair texture, and she blew out my hair without using a blow dryer comb attachment that you see a lot of hair dressers use on kinky hair and was also able to keep the integrity of my thickness. I was also confident in her cutting/ styling skills. She was very personally and talkative, however I thought the convo went dry when she found out I wasn't African. She has a lot of weave clients so if you come in for a basic service be prepared to wait. My appointment was scheduled for 12pm and I left at 3:40pm. My hair was washed at 12:20 and I sat with wet hair up until 2:30 ( I was annoyed but had to charge that to the game). Also I would like to speak about the cleanliness of the shop. When your sweeping and there is more DUST than hair on the floor that is a problem. Also the sinks had hair residue left in them and the towels had a WEIRD smell. read more
