I just don't understand the negative reviews below? I feel like (a few of the posts below) we have gone to 2 totally different print shops here. BG concepts have been printing my shirts for over a year and a half now and I have absolutely no complaints. Frank and company have been a joy to work with and keeps me up to date with the projects on hand. A very big plus to BG is when they contact me a week early and the shirts are ready. This has happened more than once and is very appreciated. It's a pleasure working with BG Concepts. They haven't let me down, they cater to my needs and do a great job on the production and quality of my shirts. To say they're customer service is poor or unsatisfactory, I'm sorry but I just don't see it at all when I work with them. This order was placed for our business. Despite my clear instructions regarding the print job, BG Concepts did not follow these instructions. There was significant deviation in the staff pricing and printing from that quoted by Anthony Matsuda's. The resulting garments are subpar quality. The screen printing work performed by BG Concepts is not to spec. We disputed the charge and received our refund back from our credit card company. However, we're taking a loss on the work done by BG Concepts, the cost of the T-shirts and the delay in our business production. Our issues were: black garments have no white base, plastisol inks instead of water based, 3D details and lines in printing missed, poorly done gradient. We were overcharged for water based inks and white base on black. I contacted BG concepts staff and Anthony Matsuda by calling and via emails many times to try to resolve the issues with my order face-to-face. I was given the brush off. My time and my shirts were wasted. One more comment: Hey BG Concepts! it would pay to repaint your shop vestibule from black walls and ceiling to light color. Your clients could clearly see your work and their estimate/invoice. read more

These guys are really wonderful. I was calling around different print shops because I needed a very specific, amazing rock n roll design -- and I needed a rush order! I spoke to Anthony on the phone, he walked me through some ideas, I came in that day and had an incredible product in my hand a couple days later! Just in time, how cool is that?? We used BG for a simple neck tag removal and print; assumming that this would be a simple and efficient job. Unfortunately, it was anything but. Our first order was delayed a week. When we finally received it, there were holes where the neck tags were, and the shirts were not even wrapped in plastic. (It was during rainy season!) We had to send them back and were delayed yet ANOTHER week. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and went with them again for a second order. Late. Again. And worse, printed the wrong sizes, neck labels were not removed, and some that were had holes in them! Plus, we were missing shirts! Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed with their reasoning, and much more disappointed in the fact that they admittedly confessed that they could not assure us better quality than that. He told me to go buy shirts and remove the tags myself and see if I could avoid damage. Done and done. Clean and flawless, and I suck at using anything remotely sharp. Proven tried and true, it IS possible to avoid damage removing tags from cotton tees---if you care about the work and want to offer your customers quality service. 2% discrepancy? ok. BUT freaking 10% of our goods? Never again. read more

Unfortunately I have to give this place a 1 star. I was referred by a friend that prints shirts for high-end retail use. So I whole-heartedly trusted the quality and service. Initially BG was fast to respond with an accurate quote. But from there everything else went downhill. I had an event that I needed to have my 30 shirts by. My husband went in the day of to pick up the shirts and I didn't have time to review them. When I got a chance to take a look at them, the quality was poor, the imagery was blurry and I was missing my 3rd color. The print did not match my proof. So I kindly called Frank and told him of the problem and he promised that he would take care of the problem and would pay for the entire costs since it was their issue. At this point I was upset that my shirts did not arrive in time for my event, but they seemed promising. They said that I would have new shirts in 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, I still did not hear from them. I decided to check up on the order which they promised. To my disappointment they didn't even order the shirts yet and they kept on giving us excuses like we didn't return the old ones etc. But why would they need the old ones anyways bc they were not returnable. They promised that I would have shirts by 11.26. It is the 30th and I have no shirts. My husband kept on asking for a firm date of delivery and Frank constantly promised but did not deliver and in the end Frank even said, so I need to be accountable to my word? That is utterly poor service. At that point me husband demanded that he speak with his supervisor in the morning. Frank started to get belligerent. But what could my husband do but to get the facts and the order straight? I'm still battling this out...1 star is generous at this point. read more

I don't really order a lot of custom printed stuff so I'm going to judge this based on three things: ease of ordering, quality of product and speed. Ease of Ordering: I originally emailed to ask for quotes and to get an idea of what this all entailed, they emailed me back and I called to describe what i wanted since i'm not really the best graphic designer. I emailed a rough idea, Frank polished it, emailed it back and it was done. This all took place over two days. Five stars because, if i had been more available and on top of my email and phone, it might have been done through one day. Five stars because i don't know any jargon for this kinda thing and that was never a problem with explaining things to me. Five stars because they never laughed at me for ordering team shirts for a Dungeons and Dragons group. Quality of product: It's a tshirt. How good could it get? I don't really know how to judge this officially (if it were, say, cheesecake, I'd have a basis of comparison). The shirts looked good when I got them, the design was perfectly centered on the back and the printing was crisp (important for polyhedral dice, since it had to have the iconic d20 shape). no defects in the images, everything was printed like the mock up pictures i sent back and forth with BGs go to guy (i'm pretty sure it was the same Frank everyone talks to because i never got anyone else on the phone). I bought the shirts as a going away present/joke and i think it speaks for the quality that we all pretty much wear it regularly. Five stars because i can't think of a way my shirts could have looked better. Speed: If there was to be a place BG might have lost points, it might have been here but they didn't. I had no super hurry on my order so I asked to have them in eight days so i could bring them to the next game night. That wasn't a problem, I picked up the shirts that day and it was done. Five stars here too because it went perfectly smooth. so, rounded out, five+five+five/three. . . uhm, carry the nine, round off the decimal. . . five stars i guess. If i had known it was this easy to buy custom stuff like this, I'd have started doing it sooner. Also, my mom saw the shirts and told her church group about it. They got some stuff for their youth group and she says that BGs treated them well too. read more

I came in with the file on my flash drive and they took it right from there. I made sure that the file was large enough (12"x12" 300dpi) so that it would scale down nicely. They printed it out on paper to make sure the size was good (ended up being 8.5"x8.5" in the end). Anthony talked to me about what kind of shirt I wanted. I ended up choosing a black american apparel shirt and it turned out to be a great choice. A week later - I came in and picked up the shirt and honestly could not be happier! I certainly plan on making more custom shirts in the future now! read more

This place was recommended by a friend. I needed bachelorette shirts made so I decided to check it out. Upside, they're reasonably priced and shirts were finished quickly. Downside, they printed 3 of the shirts in the wrong ink (they got printed in black rather than navy blue) and these messed up shirts also had black smudges on them. Luckily we had bought three extra shirts and they were exactly the same sizes as the ones BG messed up on... I mean, what were the chances of that happening, right? We sure got lucky there! Otherwise we would have had to wait longer for replacement shirts to be ordered. In addition, we were compensated for the shirts they messed up on, so that was good. All in all, the service was cool. The girl we were working with was always prompt with email responses and when I finally met her, she was friendly. Location is a bit tricky. If you're trying to get there, just call them when you're roughly around the area. I wasted like 15 minutes of my lunch break just walking around, finding the place, until I finally called and asked, "So, where exactly is your shop?" Turned out I walked passed it... I love BLOWN GEAR! I have been getting my print jobs done with these guys since many many years ago when they were a small shop. Now they've grown into a bigger warehouse office. Everyone in there is real friendly and down to earth. I've done t shirts, sweaters and I always get quality work. Sometimes they help design my stuff and other times I bring in my own designs. I have a streetwear clothing brand and we've been doing business with BG Concepts since 2012. During the past three years, I've tried a few other print shops locally just because I wanted to compare the quality of work, consistency, pricing, and overall customer service of these places. As a business owner I wanted to have the best of everything and I would always find myself back at BG Concepts. We currently work directly with Alexis with the help of Jeff and the rest of the team when she is unavailable. I have nothing but good things to say about Alexis, she understands the business and she understands the needs of the customers. Unlike most print shops that see high volumes, the customer service doesn't change. It is consistently great no matter if you print 24 shirts or 2,400 shirts and that is what I appreciate about BG Concepts. Being able to work directly with Alexis over these years has helped our brand grow. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that needs any form of printing done. The quality of this place is great from top to bottom. The worst feeling you can have is feeling unsure if the clothing will come out as you had wanted and/or imagined. Service is beyond amazing! I contacted Alexis because I work for a preschool and we wanted to get some sweaters printed for our teachers as a Christmas gift. Alexis and I talked on the phone to get an idea of what I wanted, then we started to exchange emails of the draft that she put together, so I can get a better visual of how our school logo will appear on the sweaters. I was put in charge of ordering shirts for a trip and even though I had no idea what I was doing they made it so easy! I sent an email asking for a quote and then continued to communicate with Marcos about what exactly I wanted. They were so flexible about the sizes and amount, (not requiring me to place a large order that I didn't need like other places wanted to do). Went to pick up the shirts yesterday and one was missing but the girl working the front was very eager to help make it right. Not only did they place a rush order so I could get it in time, they also were able to get me an additional shirt for no charge!!! I picked up the two shirts today and we couldn't be happier. This place is dope. Their store has got a real cool setup, lots of interesting art around. I hit up a bunch of places for different tshirts because i wanted to use AAA shirts to print on, and they were like the only place that could actually get them for a pretty good price. I came in with designs for the shirts i needed to make and Alexis the girl who works there was so helpful. Real friendly, totally fixed my design quick, sent me a finished version. It was really easy to communicate with her. I got my shirts promptly as well. They said they would have them by friday for sure, maybe thursday. I got these shirts on tuesday... 2 days earlier than was originally planned. Overall i would definitely recommend them to anybody. read more

I have dealt with over 10+ screen shops in the bay area and this has been the ONLY one that has disappointed me. Been doing business off and on with them since 2011 for my clothing company, primarily working with Alexis who has always provided the best service possible. I've always had a quick turnaround for quotes, fair pricing, good recommendations, good quality screen prints, etc. Overall, I've had nothing to complain about. Our company had quite a large order for BG, which they quoted was "one of their largest orders of the year", thinking we would be a substantial and repeat client; I expected an even higher level of service. Too many things stacked up to make this an unpleasant transaction with mediocre product. 1. Our order took well over the time confirmed. 10 weeks! And with multiple trips from out of town, this was costly to pick up less then they had promised on numerous occasions. 2. Product results did not match approved specs. They did give a discount; but very slight to the total cost. Minimal accountability and lack of concern. It seems that what is managed in the office is not properly translated on the screening floor. 3. Screen quality not up to par. I have been in this business for a long time; and would say that the normal flaw is no big deal to me. They skimped out on some base colors, and paint density is not consistent. I know this as we have now re-run product elsewhere and differences are far too drastic to not make this review. I personally don't have extra time on my hands to be transferred around their office while no one takes the initiative to help, then finally receive confirmation that they understand what design and deadline you need to make; and in the end get back late garments that are faulty and need more accountability of this. This establishment is unfortunately a very alluring place that doesn't match in service and follow through. read more

At that time, Frank was handling my orders and would always hook me with high quality service and the prints were fly. A few years later I started working with Jeff and he's stepped in where Frank left and flown above and beyond the previous heights. A BIG shout out to all the printers and workers that get the job done behind the scenes to meet deadlines and exceed customer expectations. There's a unique family vibe/atmosphere to the entire building. I recommend this shop to anyone looking to get some prints/work done for either business or private use. I've worked with Frank and his team for a few of my projects over the last year and I've never had any issues with the quality of work nor service. If anything, they have exceeded a lot of my expectations. Which is why I'm quit surprised to read some of the less then stellar reviews. Frank was always on top of my orders, and actually would hand deliver the prints directly to my office. If that's not great service, I don't know what is. The quality of the print was definitely high end and the art work they assisted me with was always that "edge" I needed to get my pieces noticed to the audience I was targeting. Honestly I can't find another company like BGconcepts. I've gon through a crap ton of different printing companies and the communication and work doesn't compare to this place. I live near SF and I'm willing to make the drive to SJ just to pick up my t-shirts from them. I really had no expectation for the place because I have never printed t-shirts before. Jeff and team, spoke directly to my son, showing interest in his ideas and they were very encouraging. If you don't care about customer service, BG Concepts is the place for you. People Print in Newark is way better. I ordered some greek letter sweaters from BG. The deadline was 3 days before I really needed them. They screwed up on one of them. They put the wrong number on one of them. They said it was an easy fix. They said it could be done that day, which never happened. I called two days later and they said it'll be done that day for a pickup at night. Needed shirts to have decor pressed on for an event . So I make an appointment. The person I spoke to is not available when I arrive. So "Marco" proceeds to assist me in the lobby. I ask do you always conduct business in the lobby. So we go to an office and ask for my information I give him my business card so he can get the info. So he has the card and still writes my business name wrong. I pay him. He tells me He will send me an e-mail in a couple days so I can approve the markup..no email. So I call ...I ask for Frank the person I originally spoke to. Not available. So "Marco" says I will send the email now. No email. and they NEVER answer the phone before 10 tries. The next morning I drive to BGconcepts. at 10:30 the door is locked. So I go to the production door its a big roll-up door, so I stand out side and I yell good morning -twice- then here comes "Marco" I ask whats going on with my order It's due today and I haven't even approved. It wasn't ready. He said oh you didn't get the email..he knows he did't send it. The shirts are in production he says. I will have someone deliver to you this afternoon. It was only 10 shirts..NOT 1000000. The Shirts are Beautiful..service Eek!Methinks not. read more
