We waited anyways to be more disappointed of this place. The old lady makes us wait even more bc she was making a personal appointment for some service that she was negotiating for $700 dollars. Wait... it gets worse. The hair cut she did on my three year old son was awful. Look at the picture the before and after and you be the judge. How can I not be angry? The owner of the shop is super sweet. She took me in right away during the late evening hours she trimmed off all the dead ends and made my hair look completely healthier than it was. This was mine and my 5 year old daughters first time seeing Bong! Wow! She was REALLY REALLY good with my daughter. So patient and gentle. I absolutely love the haircut she gave my daughter she looks so adorable. My hair was a whole hot mess when I came in! In real life, you get what you pay for. At BG Haircuts, you get better than what you pay for. I hate, hate, hate getting my haircut. I hate spending the time. I hate the awkward small talk thing. It's just a nuisance. Not so bad with Bong. She's great. She's inexpensive. She's super quick. She does what I want. I go on a weeknight; my partner gets her hair colored, her daughter gets her eyebrows waxed, and I get a haircut. Everybody's happy. I've been going to Bong for several years. My babe has been joining me for a few. We don't have to go to Oakland, we get treated well, and we get a good deal. What's not to like? My partner's complaints: we sometimes have to wait. Price for color and trim comparable to other places she's been. But it's my review. The wait doesn't bother me (I don't go on the weekend) and my haircut is $21 with a decent tip. read more

Bong is one of the least professional hairdressers I've ever encountered. The last (and I do mean last) time I was in there, she gave me a very lopsided haircut and then tried to pass it off as my hair "being wet on one side". When I went back to get it fixed (for free), she was similarly unprofessional, telling people waiting for a haircut after me that I was just upset because I didn't look like the picture. That picture got me a fantastic cut several months before, which is why I was using it. Whatever the case may be, the lady in the picture didn't have a horribly lopsided cut. I would just avoid this place. If you're looking for a cheap haircut, there are plenty of other places to go. Just an FYI: They do tipping differently. You need to let them know how much you want to tip BEFORE they run your card. There's no way to do it after (e.g. on your receipt, like at most places), and you'll find yourself scrambling for some cash to leave. read more

This was my first time there and I went based on the good reviews that this place received. Bong does seem like a great hair cutter and a very nice person hence the 3 stars but I was disappointed that she cut my hair according to how SHE thought it would look nice rather than how I wanted it. That's serious enough to dock two stars off, maybe more. I do believe she meant well but in this business you can't go cutting people's hair off more than they wanted. I asked for a 2 inch trim and she kept telling me she was only cutting 2 to 2 1/2 inches off and when she was done, I looked down at the floor at all the hair that was cut off and measured it at 4+ inches cut off! Either she is out of touch with reality or she deliberately defies what her customers want, which is a big no-no in my book! She kept making excuses that my hair looks better at the length she cut it. But you still shouldn't be cutting more than what your customer asked for! read more

She cuts hair alright, but I was extremely disappointed in the cleanliness. It started with having to sit in a chair that had hair clippings all over it from her last client, then she picked up a pair of scissors that were covered in his hair and proceeded to cut my hair with them. Next when I went to get my brows done, the table to lay down on had fresh dirty shoe prints on it & the towel I laid my head on didn't look any cleaner. She also got the wax in my hair... Tried this place a few times about a year ago and the haircut was always okay, at a good price. At my last haircut, I had to ask the owner of she needed time to sweep up after the client before me as their hair was all around the station, which was odd but whatever. Went back on a weekday after several months away and the owner wasn't there. I wanted to get try their threading for my eyebrows, and was assured she would be back soon if I wanted to do my eyebrows first and then do a haircut. My eyebrows weren't even when the lady was done, and they were lined with white spots from where the thread pinched. Not a fan of that. And they itched. Even 20 minutes later, they were still itching. Then, when I asked when the owner was expected back, the person who initially said in a few minutes said it would be hopefully less than 20. When I mentioned the previous reply of "soon" I was very vehemently told "I never said that. I didn't tell you when." Not going to try again. Too many places here are cheap and still professional and clean. read more

Bong is the personification of someone who came to this country and brought a great work ethic with her. I have been going to her for over 10 years, I took my 85+ father for several years and after he moved to Oregon, she asked after him every visit. She took one look at my partner and cut his hair exactly according to a picture he'd cut out. I travel a lot for business and have been to salons in HI, DC, VA, FL and beyond. I've yet to have anyone do a more precise cut, even for 3x what Bong charges. Do you wait when you walk in? Yes! It's not like there are 20 cutters who can't work anywhere but an assembly-line shop chomping at the bit to get someone - anyone - into their chair. This is a personal touch lady with a personal touch. Can you get an appointment if you are on a schedule ? Yes - and you get in the chair within 5 minutes of the appointment. If you want to be treated like a princess but have the attitude of a spoiled brat, you won't like this place. Go someplace else that charges you for insincere flattery and doting. Bong's loyal and appreciative clients don't wanna listen to your whining. If you want great service at a great price (that's VALUE) come sit a spell, and if you have to wait a few minutes, you are next to a game store, a Tortilla Shop and a Subway. Get a snack! read more
