I tried to make an appointment for the morning of a weekday for a gel pedi but received a text saying they wouldn't be able to accommodate me until later that morning. It worked out fine for my schedule so I showed up at the time we agreed. I had a little bit of time to pick out my nail color before I was shown to a pedi chair. There were tons of colors to choose from. The pedi itself was fine. It was a little too fast for me. Don't get me wrong... it was a good pedi but I kind of wanted more time to enjoy and relax. The gel pedi ended up being about $60 which included a tip. I don't get my nails don't often so this was a little bit of a splurge for me. Totally worth it because the pedi lasted for 6 weeks without any chips. I will 100% return to Sara's for my future nail needs. Pro tip: - parking on Carlson doesn't have a time limit. I left feeling completely taken advantage of. I brought my niece in for a manicure and pedicure and spent $57 for terrible-quality work. For her manicure, we requested a brown base with white French tips. The polish was uneven, and the French tips were a complete mess. I had to tell them that the work was not acceptable. Her pedicure was just as disappointing. The polish was applied messily, and the nail technician didn't even bother cleaning up the polish around her nails. We initially requested gel polish, but the staff advised us that it wasn't worth paying an additional $15 for gel plus another $7 for French tips on a young child. We trusted their recommendation and chose regular polish. After the poor paint job, however, they tried to excuse the uneven finish by saying, "It's not smooth because it's not gel." That was especially frustrating because we only chose regular polish based on their advice. Additionally .. there was no soaking of her nails and I don't even remember her receiving the complimentary massage or even lotion. After I complained to the woman at the front desk, they offered to remove the awful polish and have another technician redo it. I appreciate that they tried to correct the situation, but the original work should never have been as bad as it was. Regular polish can still be applied neatly and professionally. read more

Do not come here for the head spa! I saw it on Groupon and was told over the phone they would honor Groupon price so I didn't purchase the Groupon. When I got there they told me I had to purchase through Groupon for legal reasons and for some reason Groupon was not working and I couldn't purchase it. They made me pay full price, it was very expensive for being inside of a nail salon. Also the man next to me getting a scalp massage started speaking on the speaker phone in Cantonese while I was trying to relax. It was so uncomfortable and the whole thing felt rushed. This is my second time going to Sara's Nails Salon, and this visit was for my high school graduation. Once again, they did an amazing job with my nails! I am absolutely obsessed with how they turned out. The service was excellent, and everyone was so kind and welcoming. Bella did my nails, and she is incredibly talented. She paid attention to every detail and made sure everything looked perfect. This was also the first nail salon I ever went to for my birthday, and they have never disappointed me. The original nail service had a nail peel away within three days so I came back and you guys fixed it after I returned twice. I offered to pay for it. You said no. Which made sense because you had just done the work. I wanted a different color after three weeks so I trimmed my nails and did a different color. Two nails were peeling away one fell off. I went back in and asked for you to redo those two nails with the color I brought in you did and I paid for it. A week later literally seven days later the nail that you replaced from scratch fell off. You now want me to pay for it again which is ridiculous. If the polish that I brought in had anything to do with it, why did your original builder gel also be repaired. You are the only place where the nail has separated from the builder gel. Perhaps my nails and your product don't bind well. l I'll be able to verify this with the new set of builder gels I just got today at a different salon. whether you never do when I asked you to do you guys did the work and I paid for it and seven days later it fell off so if you only guarantee your builder gels to last seven days then that's one thing. That's good information for customers to know. **please also note that no discount was spoken of. Your hostess just said that Inhad to pay for the newly built nail which had fallen off in 8 days, because a week had gone by. She never mentioned a discount.** Every time I leave this place I wonder if I'll come back. Today became clear that I will not spend another cent here. In general it is a stiff awkward atmosphere. They have talented but unfriendly nail techs if you like that sort of thing. I had issues with the first BIAB when a nail separated after a few days. I went back and had two replaced and repainted on July 1st. This morning one of the new nails came off completely and the other new nail is peeling and chipped. Aside from my nails being different from the inspo pictures and lacking in quality, I had the uncomfortable experience of being asked to pay in the middle of my service. From what I understood it was because they were closing soon, but nobody else was asked to pay besides me & I saw people paying after their service was complete. I had my first Japanese Head Spa and it was amazing! 1 hr, scalp clean and massage and neck. I was so relaxed it was an incredible experience and my hair looks great and my neck and shoulders relaxed! My friend had the Spa Gel Mani - Pedi and she loved it too. I've struggled with ingrown toenails for a long time, but I've received such great care here. With regular trimming, the pain is gone, and my gel nails always look beautiful too. I have finally found a nail salon that is worth coming to. I have tried so many different nail salons in the Bay Area and sometimes they're good but other times it's usually a hit or miss. Every time I've been to Sarah's nails they have always treated me fairly and done my nails with great care plus amazing service. Each of the past three visits have been better experienced than any other nail salon. I've been to no exaggeration. They pay attention to detail and even if they mess up on something small, they are super happy to help fix it right away. I am grateful for this nail salon to have stayed open and changed ownership. I recently moved to El Cerrito, so the search for a new nail salon officially began. I found this spot through Yelp and Instagram--always a good sign when a salon is active on IG and clearly more modern. I came in for a Gel X removal and new Gel X set with a French tip (with Lenaa), plus a spa pedicure with Ivy. I booked randomly without doing much artist research. Let me start off by saying.. I feel like I've been searching my whole life for a nail salon that can actually execute the designs I see online--and I think I finally found it. I have never loved a French tip from a local salon before, but Lenaa absolutely nailed it ;) I gave minimal direction: length, almond shape (sharp but not stiletto), and she immediately understood the assignment. The French tip thickness was perfect without me having to ask. I showed her an inspo photo for a bow on my ring finger, and she delivered. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is because they didn't have red glitter (it is Christmas!), and one of the bows didn't hold the glitter properly--the adhesive dried black. I also wasn't offered any of the drinks they advertise, though that wasn't a big deal. My pedicure with Ivy was great overall, but it didn't fully dry and smudged a bit when I put socks on. That said, for a first visit, the Gel X application, French tips, and attention to detail were excellent--this really is a 5-star-worthy salon. Everyone was friendly, and it was clear there are a lot of regulars. I'm already looking forward to my next set in the new year and fully expect these nails to last at LEAST four weeks. I'm also intrigued by their Japanese head spa services I've seen on Instagram. Excited to make Sara's my new go-to spot for self-care days!! I paid $156 total including ~$23 tip for Gel X removal, New Gel X Set w/ French tip + design on 2 nails, Spa Pedicure with Regular Polish. It took ~2 hours. read more

I don't know if she just doesn't like me. I'm an older black woman. She's always dismissive when she speaks to to me. I had my gel manicure and pedicure done by Kat and Kevin, and they both did an amazing job. I usually stick with natural, sheer colors, and they executed them perfectly. I also had a bruise on my left toe, and Kevin was still able to cover it completely with the white gel color I chose -- it looked flawless.
