I have been in US for about 13 years and have been to several doctors in California and elsewhere. I have not found a more intelligent and more professional doctor than Dr. Bhandari in my life. True that the office staff can be a real pain sometimes but I guess they are overloaded with work given the number of patients that go to see Dr. Bhandari during his office hours. You can tell from the crowd at his waiting room, how many patients trust Dr. Bhandari with their life. So here is my story: Some years ago, I had this cold and cough that would not go away no matter what I try. I would keep coughing at night and could not sleep for several days. I went to my regular physician at that time (not Dr. Bhandari). For several days he could not figure out what was wrong. After trying several random medicines prescribed by this doctor and undergoing tests for bronchitis, etc., my problem persisted. I saw some more doctors on this physicians referral and they all turned out to be useless in solving this problem of mine, which to me was still a very minor cough and cold issue. Finally I was refferred to Dr. Bhandari as my PCP suspected it could be because of acid-reflux, an area specialized by gastreonrologists. Dr. Bhandari asked me to get my blood tested and by just one glance at the report he gave me the bad news of a major organ failure in my body. I was shocked in utter disbelief. I had not been to a doctor for the last decade as I was perfectly healthy and never even had a fever. On more examination, a life-threatening situation was revealed and thanks to Dr. Bhandari, I got all the proper medical attention including an organ transplant. I am breathing because of him. Minor things like the staff in his office hardly outweighs the jewel of a doctor that he is. If you are looking for proper medical attention he is the person to go to. Don't get discouraged by the huge crowd waiting to see him at his office. If you don't get an appointment, try walking-in. He is always there quite late and makes sure even the last patient gets to see him. In my opinion the wait is worth your life. read more

My experience with Dr. Bhandari office was very unprofessional. The staff was no problem. They was very cordial and helpful until I kept on asking, how much longer. My mother first visit there, we waited for 40 minutes before seeing Dr. Bhandari along with his students or training doctors, his shadows. He didnt introduce himself to her and yet advise her to have a procedure done and walked away. The appt lasted 1.5 minutes. Then we waited another 15-20 minutes before the staff came in to give us instructions for the colonoscopy procedure. The paper that was given to us for Surgery Center, the address was incorrect. When we got there the sign told us to go somewhere else. They moved location. Dr. Bhandari performed a Colonoscopy on my mother at the Surgery Center. Once the procedure was done, he left without saying one word. He didnt even check on my mom to make sure she was recovering well. I dont understand the way he do his practice. He just instructed the nurse to have my mom call him and make the appt for the next day. I have a job and can not come when he wants us too. I called his office and made an appt for the same day. He didnt show up at all, so we decided to leave. I don't understand why he didnt explain to the pt what he visual saw and make her feel at ease. She was sad and confused. When we came in for the colonscopy result, he was 45-50 minutes late. When he did decided to show up he gave us the result at the door way of the exam room,. Our appt lasted briefy 3-4 minutes. He referred her to see do some testes. Overall effective October 01, 2010 she will no longer see this Doctor. I am transfering her care. read more

Dr. Bhandari is a compassionate physician with a true desire to help patients. He takes the time to listen to the needs of the patient and address the concerns at hand. We have not experienced any problems with excessive wait times. If others have experienced this, it would be because Dr. Bhandari is one of the only doctors who will see extremely complicated patients that other doctors won't see. He has helped my family member with a chronic debilitating disease where other doctors turned her away. Yes, Dr. Bhandari's office is busy, and that is because he is a good doctor and people know he his worth the time. He is a mentor to several staff members who are training under his guidance. Mentoring and shadowing are the only proven methods of training future doctors. These young men and women should be seen as assets to the experience and not hinderances. My wife and I are both seniors and Dr Bhandari has been our physician for over 5 years now. Dr. Bhandari is an intelligent physician who cares for his patients. As someone in my 60s, I can tell you that I have been to many physicians and specialists in my life. I consider it more important to see a competent and a compassionate physician than worry about wait times. I think it is generally true that any good physician's office will have some wait time due to the patients waiting to see the doctor. What is more important is that the doctor spends time and understands the patient's concerns and that is Dr Bhandari does. I also got my colonoscopy done by him. While waiting to see the Doctor I have only heard good things from other patients who are there to see him too. I was referred to Dr Bhandari by a friend of mine back in 2003 and have ever since been a patient of his. I am very satisfied with the thorough care and attention that has been provided over the years. While being a knowledgeable physician, what I have appreciated most is his being a good listener. I got both my 'scopy's done by him just yesterday. He was prompt on time, actually reached 5 minutes before to make sure the check-in process was smooth. Then I was wheeled in and slept through the process without realizing the procedure was completed and they were rolling me out.. He followed up with a phone to check if everything was fine and also gave a high level assurances.. He is an amazing gastro doctor who has a very sharp and intelligent thinking mind to correlate various factors to diagnosis correctly the root cause. I would recommend Dr. Bhandari as PCP or GI since my family had very good experience with him. My father-in-law was here in Fremont last year to visit us from India.
