Food tastes good but a lot of menu items are WAY overpriced for what you get. For instance, my husband got the $24 burger that somehow was named "Best in Boston." It was a very small burger (2 oz at best) that just had some sauce and cheese slapped on it with shoestring fries. Wish we took a picture to post. Came here to try it out during lunch today. I have mixed experience with it. First of all, the location is fantastic and they have a nice outdoor seating area. Has a grassy area right in front where kids can play. We found the service to be great. The interior was done very well and we loved the seating and the music list. Tried Bianca for lunch - they have great outdoor, heated seating. I had the chicken chopped salad which was good although $21 which seemed really $$$ for what it was. Burgers were also $21. All around amazing food and drink. Coming from someone in the industry it's always hard to find a good drink with fresh in-house made ingredients. This place was a slam dunk hitting all the points. Going as far to make orgeat from avocado seeds. The pizza, pasta, and local fish are cooked to perfection. The service was impeccable the whole way threw. Highly recommend! This seems to be a rather underrated business. The ambience and service was very good, and the food was more than decent. We ordered a mushroom pizza as well as wood fired mussels, and both of them were phenomenally good. The pizza had a very airy texture which is very rare, and the mussels had an interesting tarty flavor that is right up my alley. Would most definitely visit again!! read more

I have never reviewed a restaurant before. I recently had lunch here and was quite disappointed. I ordered the big eye sushi which was adequate, but it lacked tobiko or other roe, a creative sauce on the plate and a little visual garnish. FTR, the spot across the parking lot on the second floor offers terrific sushi - double the portion with all the extras for 1 buck more. At Bianca, hired help is quite young and modestly trained. It's like they are reading off a card. As for the interior, very 1970s/1980's. Potted plants and hanging vines do not make a restaurant interior. Neither do green seats on knock off Thonet stools. Cafeteria tables and chairs and a wall unit with fire wood don't help much to add atmosphere. I have been to Oya several times and the food is great. Hasn't translated here. And yes, I am in the design business. Some of you may have been to restaurants I designed in Back Bay and the North End. read more

The mushroom french dip sandwich is basically better than a real steak and cheese au jus. It's incredible. the decore is bright colorful and clean, an a bit post modern. Really nice. This is for people who really don't know "good" from "amazing" or "special". And I say that being a fan of the owner's other two restaurants, which puts out really special food (even the "simple dishes"). Context: I got take-out in August or early Sept. (I think) during the restaurant's second week open. High hopes given the limited options in the area, and how much I enjoy the owner's other restaurants. I walked in to a super friendly staff and a well done space; I wanted to love it. Everything is (way) overpriced. Especially the pizza! And it is pretty mediocre pizza at that, considering the local competition. The chicken was, well chicken. Nothing unique or special about it. Just, fairly good rotisserie chicken... but too expensive for what you get. The noir tacos and sushi were delicious, but again way too expensive for the portion. The miso soup was really good, but again, for the price... it's miso soup! We were three adults and a 7 yr old. The bill was really way more than we wanted to pay for take-out, and for the amount of food we ordered (we did not "over order"). Basically I was like, "Did I just pay $165 for that??" This is a place for people with kids who are picky eaters ("Here eat pizza or a pizza of simple chicken")... who just want to distract themselves with expensive cocktails and fill up on whatever is in front of them, and who are oblivious to the bill ($$$$). Really wish Ownership could take another pass and deliver something that brings the community together with *good* food at honest prices; not try and take advantage of the neighborhood. I probably will go back here some time, just to try it again, hoping it will blow me away, knowing it will still be pricy, but wanting to be swayed. Dinner here was exceptional. The menu is great for adults and kids from kids sushi to spicy Japanese chicken to truffle fries. This menu has been designed it seems not to fit into a box but by a couple who just love good food. You feel they want to feed people well. Met co owner Nancy. She seems as fun and whimsical as the menu and decor. I cannot recommend this venue enough. Great for intimate dinner and larger groups. The cocktail menu was also creative. I came here on my 45 minute break (I work in the same shopping center) hoping to get a quick meal in. It seemed relatively empty upon arrival and I'd been excited about coming here. I've been working in the service industry for a while and was familiar with Hojoko. When my server arrived, I ordered my entire meal upon greeting. I wasn't sure if anything had been rang in my server just went to the bar and came back with my drink. As I was waiting for my food I noticed I had 14 minutes left on my break, meaning I was there for roughly half an hour before any food had come out. I ordered a sandwich and a side salad. These things happen. When I got my servers attention, I told him I must have not allotted for enough time and asked for my order to be made to go. Once the server came back with the check, I looked at the time stamp and it'd been rung in 5 minutes prior. After I had sat there finished my drink and waited for 20 minutes. My server handed me my check, said "sorry" and that was that. I understand these things happen but the way it was handled wasn't great and I left Bianca feeling hungry and ignored. I left with my to go meal. I'm sure the food would have been delicious fresh. I did enjoy my sandwich and salad but by the time I could eat it it was falling apart and soggy. Super disappointing experience. Would have loved a better first impression from this place. read more

Drinks were good, food was subpar for the price, service was not good. Waitress kept pushing one of my friends to order a drink and my friend kept saying she needed more time. We ordered the tuna tartare which was really good and two other friends had the penne with shrimp. I had the penne with chicken AND shrimp. The server kept asking who had the last pasta and I told him it was supposed to be both proteins and he kept saying no this is shrimp, like I know. But it's SUPPOSED to be chicken AND shrimp. I'm paying $51 for a pasta so it should be correct. The waitress and server didn't apologise for the incorrect order/extra wait which I didn't really care about. There were a few other weird things with the service. Even the person who sat us down had an attitude and made us feel "other." The bill came out and we gave them a $50 tip, which we thought aligned with the service we received last night. IMMEDIATELY after we pay the manager basically tries to bully us into giving a larger tip. Mind you, we're the only people of colour in this restaurant and she's singling us out in the middle of the floor, asking why we gave a low tip. Extremely unprofessional and the low tip should be self-explanatory. Look at the other reviews about the service. Also, the mains don't come with sides. What kind of steak doesn't come with a side? I won't lie though, the ambiance is nice and the decor is beautiful. The pasta basically ended up being ~$50 cus of the added protein which is crazy for the amount of shrimp you get. read more

Wonderful date night dinner! The weather was perfect, and we were able to sit outside on the patio. Rusty Cat cocktail was delicious - perfect gin drink for a early June night. Enjoyed the hamachi and the burrata for apps, my salmon was cooked perfectly and my date loved his burger. Crispy Brussels sprouts also rounded out the meal. It blows my mind that people give this place less than 5 stars. Sure, its on the pricey side but its in Chestnut Hill, what do you expect? At least you get what you pay for which is a meal of high quality. Everything is good but I highly recommend the pizza which have a nice undercarriage and good flop. I cannot figure out why this place doesn't have a 5-star average on Yelp. My experience at Bianca was so insanely amazing that I simply had to get on here and shout it out. My college-age daughter and I had a late lunch here in January and every single item we ordered was out-of-this-world delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. The bartender even came over to check on how I liked my Strawberry Fields cocktail (freaking unbelievably yummy!). We ordered the housemade hummus, the seasonal burrata, the shiitake mushroom tempura sushi and the wild mushroom French dip sandwich. Every bite was worthy of this foodie's moans of pure palate pleasure. The dining room was cheery and bright, and we left feeling happy and eager to return. Nice environment and service was polite however I feel it is overpriced for what it is. A few mistakes were also made on my bill which was annoying. There are other restaurants that i feel are better for the price. I wiil not be returning. Their burgers come with French fries or truffle fries. I ordered a burger with a side of fries. My burger came out with a side of fries and an additional full basket of fries. I asked about it and the waiter said it was a miscommunication and would be taken off the bill. It was not. My girlfriend ordered a grey goose martini. She said it was good but her glass had a lot of room in it when they brought it out. She ordered a second grey goose martini and they said they were out of grey goose so she got one with a lower quality vodka. When we got the bill, sure enough it said 2 grey goose martinis. Service was very slow so we decided it wasn't worth arguing any of these mistakes. Food was pretty good but not great. Service did not seem organized. Overpriced for what it is. read more

I was with my mother and she asked very politely for no nuts in her Pesto Burrata because she is severely allergic but the waiter seemed strangely confused like she had never heard of an allergen. Oh my god the aesthetic in there is so perfectly retro yet modern and oh so cute. Cocktails were both phenomenal. Perfectly balanced, not too sweet, complex flavor that morphs from when it hits your mouth to after you swallow. Salad had fried goat cheese which I've had a thousand times other places but this had herbs blended in with it and it SMACKED!! So good, and again, BALANCED out the acidity of the dressing PERFECTLY. Pizza was thin, crispy and well flavored, when you got a bite of the basil it really hit. Service was great, was checked on multiple times by server, head chef and manager. This review is all about the abomination of service and response received by the restaurant manager when experiencing a fiasco trying to order and then pay for takeout. This all started with the young girl working in the restaurant telling us we needed to order takeout at the bar. Fine- not an issue. But when 4 employees walked past us, including the manager and no one asking if we were being taken care of, and the restaurant being empty- I got a bit annoyed. We said something to the young girl who just looked at us and apologized. Finally, we got to order. Coming back 20-'minutes later to pick up the food, this same young girl walked us over to the pizza bar pay. Again, no one acknowledged us there either. I finally flagged down a girl in the kitchen and let her know that in addition to paying for our takeout, we wanted to order and additional 2 slices of their specialty pizza. When we went to pay for the takeout, the girl behind the counter let us know there was an issue with the bill slip and was not sure who to speak with. This was when I requested to speak with a manager. The gentleman who came out to speak with us was not only rude, but acknowledged seeing us at the bar and thought we were " just looking at the menu" AND was confused why WE did not know that food ordered at the bar should be paid for at the bar? When I let him know someone should have acknowledged us while at the bar looking at the menu, and it's not up to the customer to know the restaurant operations- he told us to "take the food and never come back". This is really too bad as this restaurant is a central location where I would meet friends almost weekly for dinner. However with management like this, no problem buddy- we will never go back!! I'll preface this review by saying I am a huge fan of blindly trying new places in hopes that it'll become a new fave. Upon entering Bianca I was impressed with how gorgeous the space was. Ordered a glass of Nebbiolo which was tasty but that's the only thing I enjoyed. Ordered a simple pepperoni pizza which was $37 for a mediocre half pan pizza that only had SIX slices. Not only was it overpriced, but it wasn't even good! Our pizza was doused in oregano and once we got past that flavor, the overall taste was just bland. It's criminal what this place is charging for pizza. I'd rather take the trek into the city and hit up the north end or literally any other place where a good artisan pizza is only $16-$25 and well worth the price or head across the street to the mall to Frank Pepe's and enjoy a good slice for half the price. read more

Disappointed. Short rib pasta was under seasoned and lacking in short rib. Way overpriced (27) for what tasted like grocery store boxed pasta. Penne with vodka sauce - 24!? Burger with fries - 29!? The prices are not in line with the quantity and the quality. Pizza looked great. Salad was not much better than local house of pizza joints.
