This is the HQ location, with a roastery on site, and quick food options, so I got a warmed curry chicken breakfast burrito with an oat milk matcha latte. Fantastic coffee shop with a warm, friendly vibe in a cool neighborhood in Oakland. The staff here couldn't be nicer. The person at the register helped me decide between different items, and the baristas were so fast and friendly. And they make a great latte! I guess I lucked this was the closest coffee to walk to - it was a lovely walk and the shop was just neat! The staff was truly excellent, there was a good sized line and they handled the orders quickly and got drinks out with little wait. It would seem it's already a neighborhood favorite with how many people there. I had a simple cold brew with hazelnut syrup and it was pretty perfect. Ever since the departure of BBC (alright, I'll stop with the word/abbreviation play) I noticed the majority of clientele has been absorbed by Bicycle because they do it well. Two years ago, they expanded their roaster operation and decided to reinvest their profits into the business by getting a larger place for their operations. What this means is that they're maintaining their amazing products - everything espresso, kombucha, and tea, and adding additional goodies such as custom merchandise and season offerings. While other coffee chains increased their prices by $2-3, the cost for bicycle is pretty inflation-proof, costs only going up marginally to pay their workers a livable wage. Bicycle also has great perks for their customers, like rotating baked goods as well as free substitute for milk options. Patrons who come here can see Bicycles thoughtful minimalist furniture, amazing coffee production, and work in tranquility as people here are respectful of space. Folks that have pets or want to chat are respectful and generally take it outside. This has become my go-to place whenever I need a morning boost or some post-lunch energy. read more

Stopped here before catching a train early on a Saturday morning. It's a quick, easy walk from the Jack London Amtrak (about 3 minutes) straight down 2nd Street. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and my husband got a cold brew. Both drinks were great. My issue was with the food case. We ordered two pastries, but after paying, I noticed multiple flies buzzing around inside the case. There were enough flies that it's hard to believe management or staff wouldn't have noticed. One of the first things I noticed--and appreciated--is how reasonably priced everything is. No extra charge for alternative milks or added sweeteners? That alone earns major points in my book. I stopped by this morning and, yes, the line was long--but the team moved fast and kept things flowing. I ordered the white mocha latte with hazelnut and it was so good--smooth, sweet, and just the right balance. Bonus points for having their own onsite roastery. You can really taste the difference. Also, small detail but appreciated: the restrooms are for customers only. Considering they're in downtown Oakland (Jack London Square), I think that policy helps keep the space a bit cleaner and more secure. They also carry Javi's empanadas--which are legit delicious. Picked up a nutella cardamom kouign amann to snack on for breakfast. I thought the addition of the nutella was quite unique since I usually only see plain ones. The pastry was fluffy and soft to the bite, with a scoop of nutella on top. I would have preferred the nutella throughout for even distribution but I'm not sure if that's feasible with this pastry. The cardomom could be tasted in every bite but was not overpowering. It was super tasty but I would have also liked a more caramelized crust. I really liked that they offer other baked goods from local places like Third Culture. Really nice to have just a walk away from me. read more

I've been in Oakland for years and it's the first time I've visited this coffee shop. Oh my gosh what an amazing place. The coffee is outstanding and the pastries are the best I've ever had. They have these mochi donuts. Whoever thought of such a wonderful thing? The service could not have been better. Custom-made mocha drink for my friend came out in 60 seconds. My coffee was perfect temperature and they have non-fat milk, none of that 2% crap. Dining room is immaculately clean and very coffee roaster looking. Found convenient parking on the street, but would not recommend leaving your car for any length of time. And definitely don't leave anything visible, your windows will be smashed. One of my favorite things here, diagrams for every beverage product. Clear descriptions with images describing exactly what goes into every one of their fufuy coffee drinks. I generally get plain coffee with milk, but it's so helpful for someone who is relatively new to the fufu coffee world to pick a beverage when they have no idea what goes into it. If this place tried they could easily beat Starbucks hands down. read more

We passed by this coffee shop because there was like a pop-up sale nearby. I needed a good cold cup of coffee and this was a really good fix. They had some interesting options. We got their two of their Bicycle Coffee in Tokyo drinks which was the Matcha Lemonade and Espresso Ramune. They were both $5.25 just very reasonable. Staff was super nice and gave me a good recommendations and even mentioned that if I didn't like the drink, they could do something and help me figure out what would work best. I'm is really cool. The coffee shop itself is really presentable. With plenty of seating area and you can also work there since they had sockets where you can charge your laptop, phone, etc. I love the vibe of this place overall in the music that they were playing was cool as well. Awesome spot. Came here to do some morning reading on a weekend, and there's plenty seating inside and out. It's quite a large space, so it's not super noisy or loud, and there's WiFi is you do want to work out of there. My cortado was great. They usually grind it for me and a few times they ask specific questions as to what type of coffee maker I have and whether I use paper filter or not. A great coffee ship near the center of Jack London Square, yet a bit off the beaten trail. Seeking out a place for a morning coffee, and knowing that the Blue Bottle location nearby had closed permanently, I located this on Google maps. When I arrived, the place looked closed and shut tight. A sign to the side instructed me to 'turn around and look across the street to the new location'. Bingo! Relieved to find the place, it looked fresh, upbeat, hip, and tastefully designed. They have a huge array of coffee choices, and I just chose a regular 16oz brew. They had a variety of milk mix choices, half/half, whole, oat, and more, that you add it yourself from containers on the counter. I also ordered a morning bun as they had an array of pastry selections. Service was prompt, efficient, and friendly. I got my coffee right away. They do not take cash! There's lots of choices to sit and linger. Patrons kept coming and going, so the place is very active. I also liked that they have doggie treats on the counter for visiting canines, and I saw one enjoy a couple. The coffee was excellent, and the bun was good. I love that they have macadamia nut milk (which is tasty and pretty difficult to find) and their dairy free options don't cost anything extra. The pastry options are also quite good, the Mochi muffins especially. The empendas from Javi's are also really good savory options. I really the like the vibe. I've been a fan of Bicycle Coffee since they were just a bicycle delivered iced coffee service at local farmers markets. Loved their OG shop just across the street from this new, current home which is brighter and more state of the art. But while the digs have changed, their roasted and brewed coffees remains the same. And I love having this shop just a block away from home. You can still find straight up hot and iced coffees as well as espresso drinks in their Jack London Square shop. They also have a pastry case for a nibble to accompany your drinks. Limited seating both inside and on the sidewalk outside. This is the warehouse district, so expect to see forklifts running produce from trucks to wholesale warehouses. The shop is also just a block from the Oakland estuary, which makes for a lovely setting to enjoy your coffee. I'm also loving their matcha drinks, and am currently crushing on their iced matcha lattes with oatmilk and vanilla syrup sweetener. Absolutely delicious! I do miss their old "free coffee Fridays" from back in the day. And I wish their hours were a bit later than their daily 3pm closing. But that's a small price to pay for having Bicycle Coffee in the neighborhood. read more

Pastries are yummy and the coffee is legit. So Pre-pandemic Bicycle coffee used to have their location across the street from this one and it was chill then too but the vibe was different.
