The Milk Tea Tofuhua was smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced -- the tofu pudding was silky and the red bean added just the right amount of sweetness and texture. The Brown Sugar Boba Latte was equally impressive, with rich flavor and soft, chewy boba that tasted fresh. I also appreciated how customizable the drinks were with sugar and ice levels, so everything came out exactly how we wanted it. Fast service, quality ingredients, and flavors that feel fresh instead of overly sweet. Definitely a spot worth coming back to when you're craving boba or something a little different. Even so, out of all the iTea locations, this one is my favorite. I usually order the Jasmine Milk Tea or the Strawberry Mango Fruit Tea (pictured). I like the milk tea because it doesn't taste overly artificial and has a nice balance. It's not too creamy and the tea flavor isn't overwhelming. The Strawberry Mango Fruit Tea is a great choice if you want something refreshing with a well-balanced sweet and tart flavor. The drink quality can be inconsistent at times. Oakland's Chinatown i-Tea is a miss for me. It's an ordering counter! No self serve kiosk or tables so be mindful of this before coming. Here's what I ordered: Brown sugar boba latte with tofuhua: tofuhua tasted verrry slightly sour and with a curdled texture. I've had a lot of tofuhua from the Davis i-Tea and it was much more shapely than curdly. My boba was also overdone. Got 50% sweetness and it tasted like 100%! Sun moon lake tea with boba and sea salt cream: 50% sweetness but tasted like the tea was slightly watered down. definitely less sweet than the brown sugar boba latte. Boba was much firmer (perhaps a bit too firm), and the sea salt cream layer was nice and thick. I really wanted to like this location since I have very fond memories of their Davis location. The only things similar are the namesake and the efficiency with calling out orders when they're ready. read more

A small store was a complete understatement for the description of this place. They only had inside space enough for a total of two people (quite literally) or three people if they don't mind pressing up their bodies against each other. But, typically only one person would take up the space. And that space is only for placing your order. Once you're done with that, you were supposed to step out with them and wait until they call your order number. Line outside the store could get pretty long as well during the rush hour, especially right after lunchtime. However, one good thing was that the line was going pretty fast when we were there. I ordered their Matcha Milk Tea with Matcha Pudding and Boba (substituted from red bean), and as usual, they made this drink perfectly. The matcha flavor came through, the drink itself was creamy and delicious, the matcha pudding was soft (even though it was a little bit more gritty than usual - maybe because they were in a rush when making it so on that day or something), and finally the Boba was cooked to perfection (soft, chewy with perfect sweetness). My drink was definitely not perfect, but I still thoroughly and thoroughly enjoyed it. I would definitely get that again if I am in the area next time. read more

My friend who ordered and gave me the exact mango drinks with no milk because of my lactose intolerance. I ended up getting a milk put into it my drink!! My lactose intolerance is bad and ended up a mess with a vomit over this mistake. Service here is bad, they don't listen and don't give you the right drinks. I wish they were not that rude and I had pictures of the drink. Ambiance was a pick up spot place with the Oakland parking. Find if lucky parking. Menu at the door. I would not recommend this place. The i-Tea in Oakland Chinatown is a tiny takeout counter. I walk by it a lot and there are always people in line to order and waiting for their food, so it's definitely a popular spot for boba in the area. My main complaint about this location is that they don't display the full menu outside, only a list of their popular drinks. I had to pull up their menu on their website while waiting in line to make sure the drink I wanted to order was available. They're quick with making the drinks in the back, and I had my drink within a couple minutes of ordering. I got the Hokkaido milk tea with egg pudding and litchi jelly at 50% sugar and 30% ice for $5.75. It wasn't the best Hokkaido milk tea I've ever had, but it satisfied my craving. I tried two more drinks recently: Pineapple fruit tea (0% ice, 0% sweetness): I thought this was pretty good, it's quite fruity and not too bitter even at 0% sweetness. It came with a generous amount of boba and I also had pineapple fruit jelly in it, which is probably why it was still somewhat sweet. I definitely recommend getting fruit teas at I-Tea since all of the fruit teas I've tried so far are pretty good. Dragon fruit cheezma (regular ice, 30% sweetness): They don't allow you to adjust the ice level on this drink. I've not personally eaten dragonfruit before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The dragonfruit itself is actually quite mild in flavor, it's just vaguely sweet, but the seeds added some fun texture. Most of the drink tasted like the creama/salted cheese, so if you really like dairy, it might be a good option. I wouldn't consider it to be the most worthwhile for the money though, since it was $6.50 before tip and there are plenty of great drinks at I-Tea for cheaper. read more

Summer weather = sipping lots of refreshing drinks! I was in Chinatown having dim sum, and wanted to grab boba after lunch to cool me down. There are so many choices in this area; I counted eight boba shops within a 500 feet radius from where I was standing. Ultimately I ended up going to i-Tea, which is a chain with about a dozen locations in NorCal (and Tempe, AZ). They are pretty consistent with their drinks, I used to stop by their Fresno cafe frequently on the way to Yosemite. It's a very, very tiny storefront near Webster and 10th. The entrance is on the outer edge of the Pacific Renaissance Plaza shopping center, facing the street. There's no seating at all, with enough room to place and pick up orders only. The menu is large, it rivals The Cheesecake Factory. Plenty of milk teas, fruit teas, traditional teas, sea salt drinks, slushes, "teaspressos", etc. to choose from. The default cup size is also pretty large, and I appreciate that toppings are 50 cents each while other places are increasing their add-ons to 65-95 cents. Some drinks already come with toppings, which will be listed on the menu. B1. Signature Boba Milk Tea was too heavy on the milk; very creamy with just a hint of tea flavor. Sweetness level was fine and the boba had a decent bounciness to it. Prices are very reasonable for the drinks they serve and the amount they give! This i-Tea is located in the heart of Chinatown, I have not been to this specific location, since they first opened like 10 years ago. Parking is either street parking (meter) or in the garage next door. Not much has changed - there is still a long line, as it is a tiny storefront with just enough room to go in to order & pick up your drinks. Not much service - the wait was about 10ish minutes for the drink, which was not too bad, as there were several customers ahead of me. I only came here out of convenience, as I was buying some food nearby for a potluck. Anyway, I ordered a jasmine milk tea with boba & grass jelly and mango sago. This is the first location I tried i-Tea. I believe this is also the original location? From here, I've tried panda MT, oolong MT, kiwi fruit tea, hot malt chocolate, and mango sago. All these drinks are pretty solid. The mango sago is seasonal when I remembered having it pre-covid. They also accept phone orders in the past (not sure about now). This location doesn't sell food though. I honestly think i-Tea makes the best drinks overall and whenever I am in Oakland, I literally just go to this place. i-Tea is definitely the best in Oakland Chinatown for boba. I always get the mango fruit [green] tea, which comes with mango and tapioca pearls. Most recently I got it with 30% sugar and regular ice and it was divine in this summer heat. I also want to emphasize that the taste and quality of their tapioca pearls is uniquely better than others in the area. I was also really happy to see that i-Tea updated their payment methods with covid. They used to take cash only; however, they now accept Google Pay, Apple Pay, credit card, or cash. Back in the day, there were a few times I didn't have cash on me and ended up going elsewhere for mediocre boba purely because getting cash was inconvenient. They also accept mobile / online ordering now, so you can order on your phone too. i-Tea is always very popular with a line but the turnaround time shouldn't be that bad. Do note that it is very small and there's only a couple people working instead so wait time is what you see. I do see some other reviews where people didn't like their drinks and to that, I will say that I am speaking specifically to the mango fruit tea. 1 star for their service. I come to this itea many times and it was always great except today. I placed an order online on a Wednesday morning and it was estimated to be ready within 30 mins. The order probably took about 5 mins or so and I received a text saying it was ready for pick up. I had my mom go pick it up and when she arrived, she gave the lady my name and she was super rude to her, saying "we don't take names. Did you order by phone or online". At that point I was on the phone with my mom and in the background, I can clearly hear how rude she was speaking to my mom. Instead of giving so much attitude and saying "we don't take names", the least she could've done was let her know that they use phone numbers to distinguish orders. How am I, the customer, supposed to know what they need to confirm my order? Seems like this place has a common reoccurrence for rude employees based on other reviews. This place is small, when I mean small I mean smaller than my closet, with Rona going on, they have made the purchase/order area smaller than two shoe boxes, keep your giant platforms at home. On to the goodies/drinks, they seem different in a good way from the other iTea in the area. I can't quite put my finger on it but is seems more homey vs. a formula drink like you get at the other locations. The Super Grapefruit I got was super real, it really tasted like grapefruit especially since I ordered no sugar, the syrup from the aloe I ordered seem to balance it well. The taro drinks we also go were on par but just different in a more organic sense, and not artificial at all, which is a GREAT thing. The killer app is to call ahead your order and pick up. I think their online app takes a few ducats out of their pocket. Heaven knows with Rona happening these small businesses need every last one. read more
