I have been going to this vet clinic for months. I will never go back there again. If this was the only vet clinic in the state of Maine, I would drive to New Hamshire. I brought my dog in to have a vaccination shot. I asked if I could also speak to the vet for approximately 5 minutes because I had a question about my dogs' behavior. I was the only one in the place. I was told that no, I was just here for a vaccination and would have to make a separate appointment if I wanted to speak to the vet. When we were back in the room, I again asked if I could have 5 minutes of the vet's time for a basic question about my dog's behavior. Again, I was told that I was here for the vaccination and not an appointment with the vet. I thought that if I had an appointment at the vet clinic, I would not need a separate appointment to speak with the vet. Apparently so. Granted by this time I was pretty disgusted with the whole situation. Made a comment that "it's not rocket science" (which that comment was put in my dog's medical record). Finally, I just told them to give my dog the vaccine. Now, my dog has had multiple vaccines without even so much as a whimper or a flinch. Well today, my dog flinched. He even urinated on the table which he has never done previously when receiving a vaccine. I promptly requested that all my dog's medical records be emailed to me because I would not be returning to this clinic. The email prefaced that they had inactivated my account, and I should find a clinic that can better suit my needs. Hmmmm, my needs were to speak to a vet when I was present at the vet clinic. After relaying this experience to a coworker, she stated that she had gone there ONCE and it was a horrific experience. I was told that their business practice has drastically declined in the recent years. I am witness to that. read more

20 years ago with the help of Friends for Feral Felines I brought in several neighborhood cats for spay/neuter and vaccines. They were then released back into the neighborhood to help keep the rodent population down. The last cat I brought in was a male orange tabby who was somewhat battered. When I went back a few hours later to pick him up, these people had euthanized hime without notice to either myself or FFF. I was devastated and to this day I remember him and agonize over his needless death. Yes, they had diagnosed him with a feline condition (I no longer remember what exactly), but when I called FFF to tell them what had happened, they said it was not something they had cats put down for. I have never been in BAV's building since that memorable day, nor have I ever said a good word about them. read more

I highly recommend going literally anywhere else. They don't give you answers when your animal falls ill, they just ship you over to the Scarborough emergency vet. read more

This is my baby Salvage. She's 16yrs old. Salvage had a Hematoma? On her right ear. I took her here to the vet.They have her ear meds and an antibiotic for her infection. Needed an appointment for our bearded dragon as we saw Online they take care of reptiles. They said they could see him tomorrow if I dropped him off which I thought was great. Then they asked me for a deposit before I walk through the door. I have an injured animal and I will be showing for my appointment which I don't even consider an appointment because it will be on the vets time when they get my animal in. As to why I am dropping off. Obviously, it is profit over animals. I have no problem paying but not before my animal gets in through the door. I find that unethical. It is a shame because I have other animals and will be getting two more dogs and when I find a place I like to stay with them. read more

Our 15 year old lil dog was in need of urgent care, they took the time to squeeze us in. The doctor and staff were so kind and gentle with him. All the staff here are great! They are very loving and caring about not only you as a client but also the animals. The veterinarians are great as well, very knowledgeable and super helpful. I've been bringing both my cats here for 4 years now and now I've added on an inquisitive chihuahua mix puppy that has challenged me and the staff with his shenanigans, but with the hospital's help we were able to figure out what was going on with him. Highly recommend this facility. We had to take our dog here while in the area during Memorial weekend. From the moment we stepped in to the facility to when we left the staff and the vet were very welcoming and professional. Dr Beaudoin took great care of our dog, and took time to discuss her diagnosis and treatment plan. We plan to use this facility as needed while we are in the area. I have been using Biddeford Animal Hospital for about 14 years. There is no better. They treat your baby just like it was theirs. I have taken my animals for serious issues and just regular stuff. I can't say enough good about their surgeries, attitude and personalities. Greatest place there is. I travel 45 mins because I refuse to change vets. read more

I have worked with this vet for over a year trying to get treatment for my dog's anxiety and compulsive behaviors. I have paid so much money for all the lab work, calming coller, thundershirt, etc. She will not give my dog medication. Now she wants me to shell out hundreds of dollars more for my 14 year old dog to see a behaviorist. This is ridiculous. Prozac will make my dog's life better, and she will not help him. I'm tired of jumping through hoops while my dog suffers. I'm going elsewhere. Update May 1, 2013: took my dog to another vet and Biddeford Animal hospital lied to him, saying I haven't brought in my dog since June 2012. He was seen in July and November 2012, and I have invoices and bank statements to prove it. My dog has now been diagnosed with diabetes and my new vet said its been going on for a long time. Biddeford animal hospital missed it, and now won't sent the results from his lab work. Shady business. read more

I want to like these guys, I really do. The office staff is always pleasant and helpful however the quality of care from the vets has declined significantly. How many vets are even working there, 25? Seriously, people want a good vet that sees their animal and knows them and their history, but not at this place. I have 3 dogs and I never see the same vet twice in a row. I had a dog requiring surgery for an ongoing issue. When the issue reoccurred, obviously we saw a new vet that must have just popped up in the last few months who had no idea what was going on with my dog. I guess they could not be bothered to read his file before seeing us. Along with not having the prior knowledge, she rushed us through leaving me with more questions and anxiety than anything else. So surgery time comes and you guessed it, a different doctor who recommended something totally different in terms of after care plan than the first one who I guess I'll never hear from again. Well, my pup is having complications and I'm sure I'll go and see someone who again knows nothing that's going on. Really I just want to get him through this so I can find another office with 1 or 2 vets that we can establish a relationship with. I have done better googling solutions to my dogs problems. read more

My experience at this establishment is nothing but fantastic. The Vet sat on the floor with my dog. I felt she has a good connection with the animal. Listened as i gave a background on the problems. The biddeford animal hospital will rob you blind. The doctors don't seem to care whatsoever about your pet. All they care about is how to make the most money from you. I have lived in biddeford and ignorantly have brought my dogs there for six years now. I can't even begin to explain the number of times they have taken advantage of me, guilt tripped me, overcharged and pressured me. I swear they draw out a pets sickness on purpose just to keep you coming back for more appointments/tests/exams. They are careless theives and will never get my business again. Shame on me for going back over and over, it is unwise to take your pet to this veterenary hospital. It is worth the drive to virtually any other vet in the area. read more

We have a 17-year old dog who has needed a lot of care the last several years and the vets, techs and staff at Biddeford Animal Hospital are consistently compassionate, fantastic to deal with and the cost has always been more than reasonable. We have been to several vets in the past, both in and out of state, and this place is by far the best for service and value. I hope the last review from July 12, 2014 does not detract anyone from coming here--it would be a disservice to your pet. read more

She went off her meds and a week and half later she got another ear infection and four days into the meds she got worse. The ear infection was so bad this time the worst I had seen the meds were not working and I knew she was in extreme pain and needed to be put on something else or steroids to help. I called and they told me my usual vet was on vacation and would not be back until next week I said well this is the story and she is in extreme pain and needs to be seen now ok we will get back to you. 24 hours later still no call I call back and the girl said Molly left you a message I said no she did not I have had my phone glued to my side waiting on a baby call so no she did not call me. Molly gets on the phone and snickers oh I don't know what happened but Dr. Roberts said you can come pick up her prescription I asked what prescription she replies the name of the one she is already on. Really Molly because she has been on that medication for four days she snickers again and replies oh Dr. Roberts said wait til next week when your usual doctor returns. Ok so you are leaving my dog in extreme pain for a week? Are you kidding? WOW Who does that to an animal in pain? read more

I had been going to another vet that I felt was overcharging. This office is great, do excellent work, really care about the pets, and take time with their patients. I have been going there for about 6 months with various issues for my older cats, and these guys made sure they got the best treatment, even making time on a Saturday morning to see My little buddy. This was hands down the WORST animal clinic I have ever used in my life. I took my cat in to have surgery on a tumor she had on her back, which was continuing to grow rapidly and cause her discomfort. We paid and extra couple of hundred dollars for the laser surgery, which was suppose to be less risk and less blood. They didn't DO the laser surgery, even though we paid for it and wouldn't return the funds. That's not the worst of it. The vet botched her surgery as well. She came home with a dangerous infection which had to be drained and she didn't tie her stitches on right so within only a couple of hours an actually watched the stitches slowly untie. The cat was kept in a cone the entire time and not let out of my sight. Her bottom stitched came all the way out and they all started coming loose after than. Within ten minutes or so after the first stitch let loose the rest came undone. My mother and I had to twist a towel tight around her mid-section to stop the blood, which started pooring out of her and we rushed her into the emergency hospital (the Maine Veteran Referal Center who can verify the mess they left on my cat because they were not impressed) and they had to put my cat back under, do a complete wash under her skin because they'd given her a staff infection, before seeing her back up again. This surgery cost the same amount as the first. In the end, we paid over $3,000 for a $1200 surgery including the hospitalization for the infection. This doesn't even count the trauma my cat was put through. To top it all off, the woman had the GALL to call me up and try to blame the botched job on me, when three of us sat in my house together watching and fretting over the appearance of loose stitched which proved to fail the same day we brought her home. I reported that to the hospital as well. She was panicking because she thought I was going to sue her, which I should of done. If anyone else experiences this type of thing, call me. I won't sue over one incident, but if she does this to others and this is a common thing, she's going to kill peoples' pets and she needs to be stopped. Can contact me if your experience was like mine. They also previously misdiagnosed one of my other pets. The only reason I brought my cat back there is because they said a different vet would be doing the surgery. Come to find out, the same vet did the surgery as well. Seriously not impressed. They said to just "change his food" because he had an "upset stomach" when I only give my cats organic catfood without fillers and with real meat vs "meal". None of my other cats have had trouble on that food. An expensive hospitalization and emergency room trip at another hospital later and we find out he actually had an acute pancreatic infection, which could of killed him. I would avoid this place like the plague. If you value the lives of your pets, avoid this place. read more
