Tugboat at Kennebunk's Gooches Beach! I am healthy thanks to KVH!

We are always impressed with the entire staff at KVH. They are very responsive when we call for appointments--both urgent and regular care. Always a positive experience!

So I called Wells Dog and Cat Hospital on Tuesday and was given an appointment for the next day.. I knew that it would be a long weekend if I didn't get her in.. Lesley welcomed us right away and took us into an exam room and it was verified kennel cough.. I was concerned about our cost and Lesley assured us that she would take care of us.. I received two prescriptions for Lily which I took to my pharmacy and was filled inexpensively .. Lily was very comfortable with Lesley and the vet. We have made a decision to return to the Wells hospital due to the care and how quickly we could get an appointment. BTW. I have a $25 referral card if anyone needs to book a new patient appointment, and we'll both receive $25.. send me a shout out. Very caring employees and doctors

My regular vet moved too far away so I've been looking for a new one and I brought my cat here for…read morethe first time I was happy to hear the first office visit is free. (I should've known better than to fall for that because nothing is free at a vet.) I brought him for possible crystals in his urine. I was seen by Erin Forbes and a tech. I explained what was going on and after a few minutes of listening to them I let them both know my cat is very sensitive to loud voices, hoping they'd take the hint. (Especially in a cold echoing room that smells like other frightened animals.) And I could see on his face that he was totally freaked out. Well they just kept on talking as loud as they were before. I mean, it was even loud for me. But not even a HINT of talking even a tiny bit quieter to make him more at ease. I can see not being a people person (which Erin Flynn definitely is not) but as a vet, shouldn't you at least be an animal person? Isn't keeping them calm sort of the first thing you'd do? So she recommended a urinalysis which is done in-house and that usually means it's a bit more economical since it doesn't involve a lab and sending it out etc. When they brought him back in he FLEW into his carrier (normally he likes to check everything out and hops onto things to see what's interesting) The results came back and no crystals. (Although she did recommend an additional $250 test that was not really necessary but still looked at me like I wasn't taking care of Puddin' and sort of threw her hands up saying "Ok. Your cat" So in the same LOUD VOICE, she told me that he needed to lose weight (he is not a fat cat. He's 12 lbs and a fairly large frame.). She said all cats should be 11 lbs. She gave me a few anti inflammatory pills (which I have no issue getting in them) Then she mocked people for not being able to do this. "You just grab them and shove it in. Easy". (Seriously?) and went on to talk about people like they were idiots for not being able to do this. Then she told me she had to laugh about when I said Puddin' was scared of really loud voices and that she and the tech were the "loudest people in the office." She actually laughed about this to my face! At that point I just wanted to get the hell out of there. She was STILL being incredibly loud and I was just done. When I went to pay the bill, that in-house test (that is normally around $100) plus a few pills was a total of over $300. That's just insane. So this is where they make up for the "waved office fee". That, to me, is a scam. And when I asked about the cost and why it's so high, the front desk said "well I have to clean the machine etc". Umm. Ok. Well isn't that what you get paid to do? I know that he prices are nothing to do with them but they really need to come up with a better explanation than that. I just looked on the site to see what the vets name was to include in this review (ERIN FORBES) and she's not on the list of vets anymore. So maybe she left. (And this was only 2 weeks ago) Maybe there were other issues with other customers? Who knows. But I found her to be judgmental,, cold, obnoxious, condescending, dismissive and yes, very, very LOUD. This was not just a bad day. This was just her. And I will NEVER be back here or anywhere she is at. Worst vet I've seen in decades.

Without going into too much detail, our girl had seemingly overnight developed intense dementia, extreme separation anxiety, and her arthritis had become worse. We were searching for at home euthanasia specialists in case we needed to help her get the help she may have needed, but we also weren't sure it was time. Finding Haven and Dr. Hill on Google is the best thing that's happened to us in a WHILE! One call to her and she explained that while she offers that service, she also specializes in senior dog care and can do a normal assessment or even develop a full hospice/palliative care program for her if we saw fit. She listened to our specific situation, repeated it back to us in her own words to help illustrate that she truly understood what we needed her help with and that she thought she'd be able to help, and my husband and I could finally sleep again. And now, thanks to Dr. Hill's recommendations, Chloe is sleeping through the night again too! I'm sure there will be hiccups along the way but after one session with her, we've learned cognitive training tools, a new people-food diet to help her, and the trick of putting yoga mats down for helping her not slide on our floors! Chloe is already doing better. Thank you, Kelly! I cannot share enough good things about your business for anyone having a senior dog!!

Unfortunately we had issues in receiving our loved one back and after talking with Dr. Hill in the issues we had, she was very rude and condescending with unfortunately has a negative effect on her as she is the owner. Dr. Hill is connected with Tranquil waters and I don't recommend them at all as they made promises to us which were not received. If I were you I would totally find another company.

They also said they did transport to the daycare facility and boarding on occasion. It seemed perfect. I should mention that there are Kara's pet care facilities in Portsmouth, Berwick, and Falmouth. First I was asked to set up a meet and greet with one of their associates at my home so she could meet my pets. It took me many tries to get through many unreturned phone calls, but finally we did set up the meet and greet and that went well. Then I was asked to set up an app and an account before we could actually schedule any dog care. So I set up the app and the account. Then I was asked to drive my dogs to their facility to see if the dogs would "be happy there." So I drove my dogs 25 minutes to the facility. When I got to the facility I was told that they were supposed to stay there for a day assessment and then I should come and pick them up. This was not communicated to me earlier, and I had not budgeted an extra hour of driving back-and-forth. Then they would reschedule the assessment and they would come and pick up my dogs for the day-long assessment. All before any dog care could be scheduled. So, still not on the calendar. So to summarize: you need to go through a long process of scheduling a meet and greet, then you need to have the meet and greet, then you need to sign up for the app, then your dogs have to be assessed to see if they will be happy. I'm just thinking that anyone who's busy enough to need dog care is too busy for this multilayered, multi-step, poorly communicated process where phone calls, texts, and emails are returned only about half the time.

Pawfections takes the time to groom the dog and is careful of all the growths old Cocker Spaniel's get tend to get. The greatest thing is that the dog isn't there for 8 hours.
