The first time I drove to Biemer's, it was at 8pm on a weekday and they were sold out of ribs. The next time I went at 4pm and ordered three single ribs and regular fries. I liked the meat; it came right off the bone. The regular sauce, however, was a little sweet for my taste. I also liked the fries because of the salt and spicy seasoning (they could put a little less next time). Like other reviewers, I also think the price is high for the portions that you get. But I would come back next time I have a craving for BBQ. read more

We were driving through and had a hankering for some barbecue. Looked up on yelp and saw this place with good ratings so went. This place rocked on all fronts! Great barbecue, great homemade sauces (love the vinegar), great coleslaw, and terrific customer service. They did everything possible to make sure we enjoyed the food and the experience. I really liked Biemer's! I'm from Oklahoma and it reminded me of home. I ordered a rib dinner to go. Most of my ribs were from the short end, so they were pretty small, barky and chewy, which I was okay with, but some people would hate. Definitely a fair portion for the price. The slaw had a vinegar dressing, so it was more like a salad to me than slaw, but it was still good. Baked beans were great: sweet and rich, not too runny or smoky. Note: the Hot BBQ sauce here is HOT! I've never had hotter BBQ sauce. I'm pretty sure they just added pepper extract to their regular sauce, but I couldn't tell since my eyes were watering and I started coughing a lot. First of all, I love this place. I think the staff members are great and friendly, and the food. The food is AMAZING. I love their burnt ends and the pulled pork sandwich. I believe it's a local place, so the price can be a bit pricey (I was a college student when I lived in Lawrence). As a college student in that area, I loved this place so much! Also, they have those stamp cards that says buy 8 sandwiches and get the next one free. HELLLOOOO FREE SANDWICHES!! So...why is it a 4 Star? I feel that over time, their price has gone up, but the portion has gone down. THIS IS PURELY MY OPINION. I understand lots of ingredients' prices have gone up, but still as a college student it wasn't a very welcoming experience. STILL, their SAUCES and MEAT ARE TO DIE FOR (the very hot sauce may actually kill you...) My favorite is the pulled pork sandwich combo- which comes with fries and a drink. I'll drive past every other bbq restaurant in Lawrence to get Biemer's Burnt-ends. I've been eating at Biemer's since they started in a gas station off 6th street. Drive-thru sure is handy when in a rush, but the restaurant is always clean and really well staffed. All the employees will help with food suggestions, but really there is nothing bad on the menu so you're safe no matter what you choose. read more

Well, I have been there twice, First with a buddy and got the Brisket Sandwich, It was good enough to go back sometime...Well i finally went back when i walked in the door The lady at the counter blew me away with her personality, Just a Open great person that Is by far a Great asset to have on Biemer's team. I wasn't sure on what i wanted, and didn't have to ask for the lady at the counter to offer her suggestions. (Turkey w/sweet bbq sauce) Now as many times that I have been to a bbq restaurant i Never walked in and said give me Turkey. I'm definitely a beef and rib guy. But with how confident she was with her suggestions I took her advice and went for the Turkey and Rib Plate. and WOW the Turkey was so delicious and Melted right in you mouth, (My mouth is dripping as I'm writing this review). I've been to this bbq joint over 50 times and the food is always good. I would recommend the pull pork sandwich, ribs, and the chicken wings. The wings are some of the best I've ever had. The meat is served sauce-less but they have many sauces to choose from at the table. If you are looking for some really hot or sweet they have those sauces are by where you get forks and straws. GREAT food! Drove 30 minutes to take 20 senior citizens for lunch today. Everyone loved the meats, fried green beans, fries, cookies, and onion rings. Super nice staff with impeccable Service! Staff were smiling (genuinely), working hard, and having fun. Owner helps behind the counter and came out to talk to all customers to make sure everyone was satisfied with the food. Slaw is vinegar based, not mayo based tri-color, cole slaw. If it wasn't for that, I would have given them 5-stars, BUT that is a personal preference. Went to this place for the first time to day. Absolutely delicious, some of the best bbq you can get in Lawrence. We ordered a couple brisket sandwiches and they were perfect along with the fried green beans and other sides. Biemers could've been a 5 star place but held on to a three because of the food. The owner of the restaurant is probably the most inconsiderate perv who was blocking the entire isle and condiment station, watched us wait and eventually walk around him multiple times while he was occupied with a table of 5 middle aged women. We were on a road trip last month and went through Lawrence, KS to visit some of our bestest friends. Hungry and tired craving barbecue what a wonderful surprise to find Biemer's BBQ. Who wouldathought that the best barbecue on earth is had in Lawrence? We had a sampling of just about everything and would be hard pressed to tell you what to order; it depends on your mood at the time. But you will not be disappointed. Right now I am craving the smoked turkey and potato salad. Burnt ends are my favorite. I could go on and on. The food is great. While the great food is the surprise and worth the trip from anywhere the staff was as great as the food. Maybe even better; tripping over themselves trying to make your eating experience as good as the food. We are in South Carolina and I'm thinking of a drive for a fix of BBQ at Biemer's. read more

My husband suggested we eat here for lunch on our way to Colorado from KC. I'm glad he did. My young granddaughter and husband split a rack of ribs and some potato salad, while I opted for the pulled pork sandwich and fries. Between the three of us, we finished off every bit of food in no time flat. The meat was tender and well-smoked. Four types of sauces were served at the table instead of the meat being sauced behind the counter...this is just the way I think it should be served. The building is small, clean and cute. My sister lives about 5-min drive from this BBQ joint and we love to use their drive-through service. I really love the smoked ribs, because they serve it with sauce on the side (I am not a big fan of sauces or too much dressing/gravy on my foods), and the smoky smell and tast of it. They have sweet and spicy sauce, and they are so good. Don't forget to enjoy their fried pickles while you're there, they are too good to be missed. I really like this place. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. First of all, the dining room is very inviting - clean and open. Second of all, the folks here are really friendly. Third, the service is super quick. What...what about the food you say? Well, first we have to talk about most barbecue places in the whole world - if you aren't whatever Oklahoma Joe's is now called, your barbecue isn't that special. Face it. It's probably a little dry. It probably doesn't have any magical taste qualities, but is dependable roasted meat. Biemer's is just like most places in that regard. Had the ribs, the pulled pork and the turkey and it was all just fine without being lyrical or magical or giving birth to unicorns on my tongue. That having been said...I tried the sauces, and they were all very, very good. Super yum. Well above the average. Winning. The hot and tangy was very pleasantly vinegary and hot without being unpleasantly firey, the sweet sauce wasn't too sweet, and the regular sauce was very solid and tasty. Combining the sauces was also a winning strategy. The french fries were good, the slaw was good, and I was a happy eater. I will return and sample the otter sides, but I'm very prepared to rate this place highly right now. Certainly my new, go-to, family friendly BBQ in Lawrence. [Update: it's the chicken wings!
