In the era of Amazon, always happy to see a legacy retailer. I came here looking for licensed apparel which they did not have but picked up some gym stuff. Helpful staff. Take that Amazon!

    top to bottom: men's 361 Strata 2, women's 361 Spinjet, women's 361 Kroozer, all size 9

Would you drive 42 miles round trip for a pair of shoes? Checked the weekly Big 5 internet ad new each Sunday, and saw they were selling 361 Degree running shoes for $30. Tried on three, the 361 Kroozer, the 361 Spinjet, and the 361 Strata 2, in the Sunnyvale store, a 7 minute walk from my house. Bought one pair of each and used a $10 off $30 purchase in a mail flyer. Jogged a short distance on hard level concrete pavement trying out each pair of shoes, being careful not to trip on the sidewalk dividers. White bottoms in the first two, so had to use care to clean off the bottoms, before returning the Kroozer and Spinjet. Settled on the 361 Strata 2, but had to get a size 9, as my usual size 8 was too narrow for comfort. Ran a mile on the softer asphalt side streets against traffic, and no impact pain on the knee joints, unlike 99% of the Big 5 running shoes, which is saying something as my knee joints just turned 67! Trying to find running shoes to replace my 2016 Hoka One One Clifton 4 mens size 7.0 EE running shoes purchased on sale in 2017 from Footwear Etc. Hokas are still the softest on my knee joints and lightest at 9.2 ounces. Discounts hard to find on the internet even at www.sierratradingpost.com, which sell gray Clifton 4 size 7.5EE for $70, compared to $91 originally. Add 9.9% tax and $10 shipping, and it's $87. 361 Strata 3s have just been introduced in July 2019, at $150. Strata 2s are closeouts, originally selling at $150 when first introduced in January 2018, but now down to $52 at Nordstroms, and now $25 at Big 5. State of the art, premium running shoes, they are designed to stable over pronators, with a horseshoe shaped highly cushioned bottom, weight 11.1 ounces, about the same as my 2014 Saucony Grid Stabil 3s purchased online from www.sierratradingpost.com for $60, down from $120. Only problem with Big 5 closeouts is that they have a very limited supply of these shoes, usually about one pair of shoes for each full size 8,9,10,11, at each store, and often only in black, the least desirable color. Saturday 9am, I drive to 9 miles to Stevens Creek Big 5 and get another pair of Strata 2s. Tried phoning, but nobody picked up the phone for the shoe dept -dudes don't wake up that early after staying up late Friday night. 100% plus employee turnover in these jobs every year. To get anything done you need to talk to the store manager in person. Drove another 5 miles to the Campbell store, but they were out of size 9s. However the manager, John Brown, called up the Blossom Hill store, and had them hold the last pair of size 9s for me. He even printed out the address Wife was navigating using Google maps on her phone. I drove another 10 miles down into Almaden valley to get the third pair of Strata 2s. No DWA, on the 18 mile drive back to Sunnyvale. Shoes were so comfortable, that the wife got a 361 Kroozer, and a 361 Spinjet, and she doesn't even run! They are having another sale on these 361s at $25 this week at Big 5. However if you have men size 9, you are SOL looking for blue and orange 361 Strata 2s, as yours truly got the last ones in Santa Clara county! When it comes to running, even at age 67, got to use it or lose it!

Came in with pops looking for knee supports for him. As I looked around, I was able to find one of 2 supports that would fit him. One employee asked if I needed help "yes please, I can only find one support, do you have one more?" He replied, what ever we have is there you have to look.......Wait what?! "Lazy A##!!!" I went to the register and asked that person if they could check stock for me? She said yes and said they should have 5 on hand. I told her I couldn't find another one. She said oh just ask the guy in the back he'll help you :c I told her that jerk blew me and my dad off!! She got the manager and he personally went back and got me one. The store is really nice inside, I would have given them 5 stars but due to the inconsiderate employee..... 2 stars is all this person can muster up.

If you are looking for new shoes, do yourself a favor and find Steve in the footwear department. His knowledge is genuinely unmatched. He didn't just point me to the newest or most expensive model; he took the time to understand the mechanics of my feet and explain the nuances of every shoe we discussed. He even had me running down the aisles in various pairs to ensure the fit and feel were perfect. It was easily the best customer service I've ever had, better than some shoe speciality shop! To top it off, I found out about their "Love Your Purchase" return policy. It's a total game-changer--knowing I can actually test these out and bring them back if they don't work for my feet gives me so much peace of mind. Between Steve's expertise and the store's return policy, I won't be going anywhere else for my gear.

I recently had a firearm transfer that ended up sitting for roughly eight months. Most businesses would have simply pointed to the policy and charged every penny owed. Fair enough. My mistake, my responsibility. Instead, John took the time to walk through everything with me. He was straightforward, honest, and treated me like an adult. No games. No pressure. No sales pitch. What impressed me most was that he applied common sense and fairness. He explained the fees, showed me the math, and significantly reduced the storage charges even though he had every right to charge more. His attitude was simple: if something is fair, it's fair. If something is right, it's right. That kind of business philosophy is becoming rare. Sportsmen's Supply feels like one of those places where a handshake still means something. The shop has been around for decades, and after my experience, it's easy to understand why. Thank you, John, for treating customers with respect and for proving that character still matters. I'll gladly be back and will continue recommending Sportsmen's Supply to friends and family.

They do cash trade-ins day-of-sale unlike most gun shops in the area that only do consignment. They take the time to properly appraise what you bring in, make sure it's legal for sale in California and make sure all the required paperwork is filled out properly. Their prices are generally fair market value from what I've seen considering it's a cash-day-of trade-in. You'll be waiting for maybe an hour at most here to get paid for selling your stuff instead of the weeks that you would with a consignment sale or what passes for a private-party transaction in CA. Could you potentially get more selling privately or putting your stuff on consignment and waiting for it to move instead? Maybe, but their way of doing things avoids a lot of the multiple trips and waiting time that comes with doing either of those other two options instead in California. I would definitely recommend coming here if you have guns you need to sell urgently or if you would just rather not deal with selling on consignment or arranging a private-party sale yourself.

I scheduled online to complete the ppwk to pick up a firearm for Wednesday, April 29th @ 9:00am. I know that getting there early on the weekdays is the key to not having to wait in line. I got there about 9:02am. I told the gentleman, a middle-aged Latino man with a gray beard and mustache, at the gun counter that I had a 9:00am appointment. He told me that he wasn't ready and was still setting up and to join the queue by registering at the kiosk. I registered at the kiosk and got a text from Bass Pro at 9:35am that my 9:00am appointment had been cancelled. Now, I was number five in the queue and it was now 10:45am. I had to leave for another appointment. I was not a happy camper. Driving to my next appointment, I called for a manager. I told Marcos the situation and he would get back to me to investigate what transpired. He called and left a message. His message relayed that I didn't get there until 9:16am and that there were several customers ahead of me so my appointment could not be accepted. That was the most ridiculous thing I ever heard; someone was trying to cover their @ss or @asses.
