He didn't just point me to the newest or most expensive model; he took the time to understand the mechanics of my feet and explain the nuances of every shoe we discussed. He even had me running down the aisles in various pairs to ensure the fit and feel were perfect. It was easily the best customer service I've ever had, better than some shoe speciality shop! This location is my favorite! Super organized and spacious. Parking is not the best though because of the busy plaza... just gotta wait it out for a parking spot. The staff is welcoming and easy going :) I needed new snowboard boots so I headed over to the snow sports section to try some out. Since it's the season, it was pretty busy so we had Doug help us out! He's really helpful, informative and patient! Also organized and a great multitasker with helping multiple customers. I wanted to try a few brands out at different price points so he gave me a lot of options too. Doug also gave me tips/ pointers of how to put them on or things that I should keep in mind for new boots! I ended up choosing the first pair he suggested and so far so good on the slopes. This past week, we went in for help with skis and boots, and Joey was incredible. Just got into skiing. The gentleman with glasses and a cap helped me find the perfect K2 boot. He gave me a few options and advised me about a snug fit for first few days on the slopes. I came here with one intention, and one intention only - to get the best shoes to support my busy lifestyle. I was recommended to come here and wondered if it was too good to be true - it wasn't. Rudy introduced himself to us and was happy to help me find the best shoes for my feet. I walked for him to demonstrate the stress my feet undergo, and he immediately knew what I had needed. I always thought my feet pronated but they're more flat and neutral - who knew! I was so happy to have some clues and Rudy recommended me a couple of brands that fit like a dream and felt like I was walking on a cloud. I normally don't wear shock absorbent shoes and it feels like every weight and stress I put on my feet hurts after a long day. It feels decent during the activities like walking or running, but I feel the pain and exhaustion. This was going on for some time! I needed shoes that would absorb the shock and weight, along with being comfortable enough to wear for hours on end. I ended up getting a couple pairs of shoes - one was Hoka and the other I forgot the name of. The Hoka shoes were available to me immediately, which helped save my feet! Perfect size and color. But the other shoes were out of stock so I had them shipped to my house. Overall, they had such a good deal on the shoes, and the service was awesome! My wife needed comfortable shoes for work as she's on her feet for almost 8 hours while at work. We decided to check out Sports Basement because I've heard great things about the place. I just say, I'm glad we went in. Keith was very helpful! Normally in a shoe store, an associate is just there to help you find a shoe size or answer basic questions. Keith went above and beyond to help my wife to exactly what she's looking for based on the use case. He made great recommendations and there was no pressure for an up sell! She ended up finding a great shoe that has been great to use at work. Due to this, I also decided to ask for Keith's help. I played sports in high school (soccer and golf) and some intramural in college and social sports post college. However, I've since become a couch potato and has taken on more weight that I would care to admit. I just really needed a shoe to get me off the couch. The issue is that I have a flat feet - and I just looked for shoes that usually has "wide" on the shoe box. Keith helped me understand that I'm a "4e" aka Ultra Wide which is a term I've never heard of before! I'm forever grateful as I now know what type of shoes I should be looking for. He determined this by looking at my feet, how I walk, and also any paints I have in my joints. Love this store! We've been coming on and off here for years. This past weekend we came in looking for a new bike for me. Got here about a half an hour before closing... they close at 5pm on the weekend. We had looked online for a few bikes in mind, and here at the store, they offered a pretty good selection. We had it narrowed down to two bikes, and we want to give a shout out to Dillon in the bike department, who spent a good amount of time with us. We had warm service from the bike shop folks. Brought in my son's bike to look at doing a tune up and was ready to pay for a tuning. The staff were courteous and honest. They found the bike to be very new. And only needed a bit of adjustments to brakes and some air in the tire. So they took care of those things free and complimentary. Obligatory stop when in NorCal. First time to this location. Today (08.16.2020) be ready to get your temperature taken at the door, wear a mask and social distance inside the store. Use the bathroom at home before you arrive because they don't have any public restrooms for customer use. Mary in the shoe department was AMAZING today! We came in to find a new pair of running shoes for our 11yo little runner girl. Mary was able to get her measured and do a mini gait analysis. Little O still ended up in a neutral pair of shoes but was able to try on three different brands. Out of three pairs she tried on and test ran around the store #1 pair (Brooks) was her favorite until Mary pulled out the big guns and brought a New Balance pair that fit her narrow foot really well...in a size 7!!! Growing girl, growing feet. That was the one we took home with us. After finding some shoes, Mary asked us about socks. Little O left with a couple pairs of Stance socks to try. The "Run" fit and the "Athletic" fit. It was a successful visit because I also found a pair of shoes myself. Surprisingly I went home with a pair of Asics today. The last couple pairs I've bought in the last couple years have not been the greatest. I can't address and appreciate enough the amount of time and knowledge the associates put at this store to make sure you choose the right option and go home happy. On 3 different occasions I got outstanding help from Marry and Rudy in Shoes department. Marry spent 1.5 hours with me and my mom to make sure we get what we came for and when I ended up not buying anything for myself, all I got was smile and great attitude. As the result of that I came back on Sunday evening and this time Rudy despite the rush hour went above and beyond to address my needs and I ended up buying two pairs. I wanted to give the finger rating here however had to settle with a 1 star which is the lowest possible. Went to Sports Basement in Campbell to restring my tennis racquet. The retail personnel told me the price $25.00 and it takes 2 days. We confirmed that this is labor only. I paused and mentioned this is twice what I am accustomed to paying. Before I finished my sentence, he told me "why dont you go there then". I took his advice since I was put off by his comment. I would have probably paid the difference here if it wasn't for his comment. It is a matter of principle here. I plan to boycott Sports Basement at this location indefinitely. read more
