Yesterday, March 6th, the weather was miserable. Cold, windy, light snow and rain. Not the kind of day you want to be outside, let alone skiing. So I figured it was the perfect day to finally give Scheels a try. I ended up spending five hours in the store and taking more than 250 photos, and this place absolutely blew my mind. There were sports and equipment sections I didn't even know existed. The store truly has everything you could possibly need and then some. What impressed me most was the staff. They were knowledgeable and helpful but didn't hover every five seconds like some stores do, which allowed me to really explore and absorb everything. The shoe selection was outstanding with every kind of running shoe, ski boot, work boot and outdoor footwear you could imagine, and the shoe staff were clearly well trained helping customers. I also spent about 45 minutes in the luggage section, which was surprisingly impressive. It's clearly a curated department run by someone who truly understands travel. I spoke with a luggage specialist who I believe is from Asia and a serious world traveler herself. She was incredibly knowledgeable and immediately understood what I meant when I told her I was tired of hard-sided luggage and wanted something built for an active lifestyle. She introduced me to a beautiful 100-liter Patagonia rolling duffel with durable wheels, strong zippers, and soft-sided construction that can actually handle real travel. These types of bags come with lifetime guarantees on the wheels and zippers, and now I'm officially saving my pennies to buy one. The store itself was alive and buzzing with families, couples, hunters, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere. The only section that felt a little thin was the women's golf apparel where most of the XS sizes were gone, while the men's golf section was very well stocked. Parking was plentiful and easy. He needed some arrows and so we went to Archery Depot because they're basically next door and a specialty archery store sounded great. We were not disappointed! The owners are super friendly, knowledgeable, willing to shoot the breeze, answer questions, and generally make you feel welcome; the shop dog helps with the welcoming feel as well. They have a small, indoor shooting range as well which they'll let you use for a small fee with your own equipment or for free if you're testing out equipment you're looking to buy. If they don't have what you want/need, they'll order it for you (pay in advance because...obviously) and they'll get it within 2 business days. My spouse ended up buying some custom arrows from the shop, which he got custom fletched, and they told him that the other sporting goods store he went to in order to have his draw weight measured it wrong by 10lbs! They also put a notch on his bowstring for him for free and helped him shorten his string, which apparently came too long for his bow. The excellent customer service experience provided by Archery Depot would make me recommend them to anyone in need of archery supplies.

I knew what I wanted when I called so I didn't need to visit a storefront, just called and scheduled a delivery appointment. The elliptical arrived in great condition and they had no problem (or complaint) taking the monstrosity inside and down to the basement. They didn't leave immediately either, they made sure it was good to go before leaving. They also called about 2-3 weeks after delivery to make sure all was still good. I've had it for over 6 months now and it still works great. If I decided I needed to further populate my gym, I'd check their website before checking Craigslist or the unreliable big names I've had bad luck with in the Denver area.
